I recommend visiting this police station for your documental needs. The man with the glasses at the front desk really knows his history and music, which makes for a humorous interaction in an environment that usually isn t very fun.

Just applied for a vulnerable sector check. Waited 15 minutes which seemed good. Officer Kitchew assisted me. He even knew a word or two of the language from my home country. Wonderful experience. Friendly, personal and engaging service. Thank you!

Now before reading this review, understand that I ...

Now before reading this review, understand that I have much respect for the officers who we dealt with -- I'm sure they were following standard procedure. The system itself is what I'm complaining about. Both my brother and I, American citizens, tried to attend a club in Halifax and our US licenses were refused because they could not verify our licenses existed in the Canadian system. That is fine -- you can't expect everything to work out in your favor. However, I thought Canadian police may be of help because they may have access to different resources than a bouncer might. This was a wrong assumption -- after googling our first, middle and last names, apparently both my brother and I had committed crime in Halifax despite living in the US our entire lives. This is wrong and I wish I could come up with an explanation for what I can imagine are extremely low odds that both my brother and I who have unique first, middle and last names and dates of birth would have both committed crimes in the city despite living in another country our entire lives. Keep in mind that one of these crimes was a traffic violation when I was 16 and had never even driven out of the US. Of course, stuff can go wrong and both my brother and I can understand that, but then the police seized our licenses because they thought they were fake. This is where things began to bother us. Understand that for us a license is an investment -- imagine you pay for a right in your country and you follow rules your entire life just to have you identification seized from you. It bothered us both greatly. We tried explaining this to our officer; we told him where our extended family was staying, and facts about our lives which I thought he was verifying. Instead, we were told we would have to show our passports to get our licenses back. No big deal in terms of our ability to, but the principle itself really bothered me. To visit family in another country and have our licenses seized knowing we had never committed a crime seems wrong. It is important to note we got our licenses back after much argument, but we are kind of annoyed. To reiterate, we do not blame the police officers -- the one who dealt with us was a very nice guy who I could tell was genuinely trying to take every step he could to help us, but Interpol really screwed us over tonight and it is important that the Halifax police understand this. Feel free to contact me for further comment.

Today, February 2021, I received a phone call from an officer about a disclosed matter. He was very polite, thoughtful, and kind. My interaction today was a complete 180 from my last. What a great person to have protecting our city!

-Prior Experience, May 2020 (Original Review 1 star)
I just called with a general inquiry and the officer on the phone was so rude! they huffed, and yelled 'woooowwwww!!! as they slammed the phone to hang up. I asked two questions, what a disgrace. VERY disappointed.

Called the other night around 10pm because when I arrived home, I found my tires where I put in my parking area have been stolen. They said because it s not emergency so won t send officer immediately. I was expecting maybe 2-3 days after, but 2 officers came at around 12 that night. They asked what happened and check my parking spot as well, then they leave me a card with a case number and said they will ask the building manager and head back to me tomorrow. Tomorrow around 9pm, the same 2 officers come in person and told me the details about the case. Although I didn t get my tires back, I really appreciate the effort these officers put. Great job!

I would give them points for not beating me up, but they did steal my car.... I kept asking them for proof of this commercial statute, but he just arbitrarily assumed jurisdiction when there was none. ..... this most definitely was a tort, a legal wrong committed under color of "law" ... ... these officers need more legal training ... I've read the Motor Vehicle Act.... Provincial Court Act.... Income Tax Act etc.... and the officer even admitted that he NEVER READ THE MOTOR VEHICLE ACT HE WAS ENFORCING ! ! ! ! Most definitely a terrible feeling to even see these cars driving on the road. These people are dangerous and they are paid to lie..... .... ..... .... The guy stole my car then lied to the homeless shelter he dropped me off at. The only reason I gave them one star is cause I can't post if I don't rate them ,.... I would never give them any stars.... don't be fooled always record any interaction with these people ... .... ....

Unless you're aged 65 or older, you're wasting your time dealing with HRP as they lie, alter evidence and don't enforce citizens' Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Disrespectful, unprofessional and untrustworthy.

I have, with lack of better terms, a stalker. He would wait at my job before my shift started, wait outside of my job for hours to "make sure I'm okay," keep trying to bring me unwanted gifts, he expects some form of intimate relationship, and refused to stop contact when I told him to leave me alone. He told me he was returning to my work at 12:00PM, so I called the police. The officer arrived at 10:30AM and waited in the parking lot of my work. At 12:00PM SHARP, the officer called me and told me they would be leaving because they had other stuff to do. I asked for protection at 12:00PM and they left exactly when I needed them the most. Thanks for nothing. Anyone know any good vigilantes?

I've been on hold on every possible number except for 911 for over an hour, trying to get hold of their property division to try to get my son's clothes, which have been in their custody since his death in cells on June 16, 2016.
I called yesterday & did actually speak with someone in property who said she'd get back to me in 10-15 minutes; still nothing. Pretty sad when no one answers at our local police department!!

It is so sad to see what is happening with our police force in Halifax, with Officers being charged for various reasons. We have some good police officers though that well take the time to talk to you and have a lot of respect for the public. Maybe it is time for a complete over all for the Halifax Regional Police.
