As an alumni of class '09, I'm very happy with the decision to study computer science at NYU POLY aka Tandon School of Engineering. It has opened a lot of doors for me. The workload was intense, but the program trained me to analyze and solve complex problems. Thanks for the great opportunities.

One of the best engineering and science schools in the world with, historically, a distinguished faculty. The school follows the European polytechnic university model, founded about half a century after the start of Ecole Polytechnique of France. It is small in size but it does not envy bigger institutes such as MIT, Caltech or Carnegie Mellon. The school is scrappy and always fighting to be the best. Now being part of NYU, it has a larger scale to play on. Beware of the course load, it is very challenging. I am so proud of my alma mater!

I usually come here to get breakfast and/or coffee which is actually Starbucks branded as Seattle's best (and much cheaper). The breakfast omelettes are quite expensive now they have changed the prices but the sandwiches are still decent. The prices otherwise are affordable and there's a large selection of food types. They have their own hand rolled sushi on display everyday as well as other foods.

An excellent school but beware of the workload. The graduate electrical engineering program is great. The courses are extremely demanding. You should attend this school only if you love science and solving complex problems. The professors are world class in their fields.

Quality of the education is abysmal to put it very charitably. The faculty, staff, administrators and student employees are just collecting paychecks and do not care about the students, with few exceptions. The facilities are poorly maintained, and many areas are under staffed. Clearly a university that only cares about money and the horrendous renaming in October 2015 vindicates this view.

NYU-Polytechnic campus gives the students a chance to delve themselves into technology in a multitude of different ways that advance their knowledge about what they want to do in fields such as mechanical engineering, civil engineering, etc.

Just like any other typical engineering university poly can be pretty dry. The school spirit isn't too high and there is a very monotonous feeling every time you walk in. However the opportunities they offer are great and the education as hard as it is is pretty good.

I graduated Poly in 1983, pinned on 2nd Lieutenant bars the next day, and had a successful 22-year career as an Army Engineer officer, followed by a Federal Agent career at present. Poly was VERY DEMANDING--and most other life pursuits were undaunting given the academic rigor and resulting intellectual energy. Two masters were easy, most others from engineering schools seemed underequipped. Strongly recommend the Mechanical Engineering department!

Great school, but NYU hasn't helped the students much, answering most requests for improvements with "go to the main campus for that" and what facilities they do make like magnet only available to some students. They increased tuition and removed the famous Poly name. Also dropped the credit limit and increased the credits of some classes, making it harder to graduate on time.

The curriculum is tough but the professors are pretty bad. Don't try to speak to the dean if you have any complaints regarding any professors because the dean may be friends with some professors.

They keep sending mail and calling for donations. I donated enough. They made the school pretty with new TVs but couldn't hire new professors who are actually helpful?

Don't waste your money.

Polytechnic has been rated in the top 10 of the world rankings for income after graduation for the last 5 years. After attending this University, I can see why. The opportunities have been enormous since graduation and I have this school and hardwork to thank.
The curriculum is second to none but more importantly, NYU-Poly offers lots of hands on experience. I had the opportunity to work with a dozen different companies that were struggling to make it in this bad economy and apply the tools I learned in class to turn them around. I was even offered a full time position with one of them within one week of working with them.
Professor Greenstein and Albano are two of the best professors I have ever had.
The social life is what you make of it! This is an ENGINEERING SCHOOL, so of course, you wont have the partying an art or business school may have. However, you are in the middle of the best city on earth! If you cant have fun and have a good social life in New York, its you that is the problem, not the school!
Overall, I would recommend NYU-Poly to anybody that wants to better themselves if they dont mind a lot of hard work! I was a U.S. Seabee and I our motto was to work hard and play hard, this is the best place to accomplish both!

Do not attend this school. It is part of NYU in name only. The campus is dead, the teachers are mediocre. They say the reason that people drop out is because of academics, this is false. Academically the schools is not very difficult. The real reason people drop out is because socially it is a dead school. 33% drop out by the end of freshman year. 46% before they graduate.
