They were SO fast getting everything sorted with my insurance plan, they didn't put me on hold not once! And massive shout out to Robert who was SUPER helpful.

Chp is the worse insurance I've ever had. I only chose chp because the clinic is 10 mins away from my house. I've always had to pay for my prescription. Definitely going back to molina, found a better doctor way closer to my house and I've never had to pay for my prescription with molina.

If I could give CHPW less than one star I would. I'm located in the Yakima area. I just signed up for a CHP of Washington Medicare Advantage Plan. To get me signed up with the plan they were very, very customer oriented and very eager to get my premium but when I attempted to find a provider who will take new patients it was a different story. Their literature said to start at their website to find a doctor so I did. I called one who said "Oh she doesn't work here. She works at another clinic and isn't accepting new patients. So I started calling all of the eight clinics listed on their website. Unfortunately the information on their website does not match reality so I got frustrated and called their central CHPW 1-800 customer service line and they told me "they can't help it if the clinics don't update their information with us" and wished me a good day. So I went back to calling the clinics and begging. One customer service person actually sighed when I asked a question. I finally got an appointment in a town 40 miles from Yakima. With the exception of one clinic all of the customer service people in the clinics were unwelcoming and unwilling to answer questions. I'm going to try a plan other than CHPW.

Everyone who is low income enough to have this insurance knows that they don't care about your health. The hoops you have to jump through to get any of the care they pay for are usually flaming and a hundred feet high. If they don't think you need something that your doctors say you need they can and will deny you any help whatsoever.

I have spoken to customer service twice and I m still waiting for my benefit card and the details of my plan.
I live in Vancouver, WA and I needed to see an urologist. They only had 1 Dr. in the network and I had to wait 6 months and had to travel to The Dalles, Oregon.

If I could give this business 0 stars I would. I've had to contact them 4 times now because they keep assigning me to a different doctor, after being told I could stay with my PCP. I am on medication, and my refill was set on Saturday. When I tried refilling my prescription, the pharmacy informed me they couldn't fill it because of a physician restriction. I've been on the same medication for 3 years now. Hopefully they can resolve this issue, as I thought it was already resolved. Clearly it isn't and now I have to wait to get this problem rectified tomorrow. Very frustrating.
As a healthcare provider and in my honest opinion ...
As a healthcare provider and in my honest opinion I cannot recommend the Community Health Plan of Washington. Despite our good faith efforts and the quality care provided to their subscribers (our patients), they deny claims seemingly without merit. The result is that subscribers think that they have coverage and they do not. I have found the Quality Department and their Provider Services departments to be fruitless and a waste of time. Bottom line, patients received quality care from us and CHPW didn't pay us for the bona fide services we provided . Regretfully, we refuse to deal with them at all now.
After dealing with 3 previously horrible services ...
After dealing with 3 previously horrible services (One being Molina) I found CHPW through the help of of one my Doctors. After switching to it, my life became amazingly more streamlined. They approved every test I needed, they had little to no delay on their response times, and their customer services was top-notch. I have to move out of state and sign up with a different provider and I am very sad to have to let CHPW go.
Thank you for your time and service and helping me to achieve a better quality of life over time!
CHPW has been pretty good to my family based on US...
CHPW has been pretty good to my family based on USUALLY approving prescriptions and having MOSTLY good customer service representatives (when you don t have an issue, but just need technical assistance with your membership - e.g. changing providers, getting cards resent), BUT my low review is based on:
1. They seem to be making a lot of major changes (at least as it affects my family) in regards to partnerships with clinics and pharmacies.
2. The Well Child Program feels quite nearly a SCAM. The gift cards aren t going to make or break the bank for us, but it s the PRINCIPAL of it. If you say you re going to do something, do it or don t say anything at all. But if you re going to say it, do something about it when there s a problem, don t just have the same set of solutions you give to everyone and you know deep down, those solutions are part of the problem.
SECOND REPLY TO CHPW: I have contacted the email version of customer service and after sending multiple detailed documents from the doctor s office, the issue (lack of proper training for staff, lack of follow through even with heavy assistance from the member AND doctor s office) is still not being acknowledged and I am being told the same solutions: 1. Resend the forms, 2. Call Customer Service.
REPLY TO CHPW: The issue isn t the clinic. The issue is no one I ve talked to at CHPW knows how the program works. I went to the clinic to ask, for the hundredth time, to resend the form. It s EMBARRASSING to have to keep bugging them when they keep track of all the faxes they do and the issue is with the program management. I had a woman with CHPW customer service insist yesterday that I could do it MYSELF online - which, by the way, would be a GREAT option - tried to walk me through it online and I had to train HER on navigating the site. Please change how you guys receive the applications so that the patients can send them themselves and you guys can then double check if it s legit... it s terrible to punish the clinic or patients when they re doing their part. But thank you for replying and I will attempt to get the situation corrected this way and hope that it works out.
This is only a review for their Well Child Gift Card program: due to the way it s set up, there is no way to contact the program directly and you are forced to speak through the customer representatives who are ALSO left in the dark so no one gets any answers when you call to check up on the status of an application OR you get given WRONG information all together.
What you should know if you re trying to use this program (because they won t tell you this):
1. You can retroactively apply for up to 3 months, BUT
2. The clinic or office you go to can only send ONE application on your behalf PER DAY. Multiple applications are automatically denied. They weren t clear if it s one application per child/account or per family.
3. Applications sent online takes priority over faxes and faxes can get lost or looked over anyway. But this is not up to you AT ALL, it s up to the office.
This is a great idea for an incentive program, but the follow through and management is very poor and beyond aggravating. I did my part and was persistent and thorough, but I ve basically wasted my time all these months. Hopefully this can help families going through the same problem (which I know is likely a large percentage of members).
I will take my kids to their appointments and get them vaccinated anyway, but if you re going to offer an incentive program, you should actually follow through and not make it so difficult for families to do. If this was the only reason someone would vaccinate their kid or bring them to their appointments or if this was a reason for people to switch providers, this incentive would not work and you will reach a far less amount of people because you made the process so impossible.

If I could give them ZERO stars, I would.
If I could give them ZERO stars, I would.
Executives who don't care, middle management stretched way too thin, and a Board of Directors (who also own the plan) that treats this want-to-be health plan as a piggy bank for their own initiatives is a perfect recipe for disaster.
If you're looking for health coverage, you can do much better with a real health plan. Group Health, and Premera Blue Cross are both not-for-profit plans that will serve your well.
If you're a doctor - don't bother contracting with them. They can't figure out how to pay claims right and won't devote the resources to doing it either.

I would like to THANK CHPW for taking great care of my mom. Several weeks ago she felt ill and ended up at the ER. After further testing the doctor said that she would need to have gall bladder surgery. She followed up with here primary care provider and had surgery within the week. All thanks to the fast response of her provider as well as the CHPW referral process.

I would like to THANK Community Health Plan of Washington for taking great care of me. Several months ago I was visiting family in Texas when I felt ill and ended up at the ER. After several tests the doctor diagnosed me with Bells Palsy. I followed up with my primary care provider once I got back and quickly got me back on the fast track to recovery. All thanks to the quick response of CHPW!

Didn t even address my complaint about a clinic where I felt I was discriminated against. The very reason I was having difficulty getting the care I needed and contacted CHPW in the first place. I didn t ask to be called and checked on every week by a social worker who really did nothing but act like I had to report in to her. But I guess they had to make themselves look proactive for me somehow. Also, I wrote to the email address below and got a response requiring me to register and create a password in order to communicate with CHPW. Thanks anyway, but not going to happen.

Having just watched CBS news regarding United Healthcare. I am so grateful and proud to have been a part of this team previously. Mental health is a huge priority for CHPW as is community support. I know intimately how hard CHPW makes this a priority.

The first time I called they told me that they only make appointments a week out in advance and that they were already booked for the week. They start scheduling on Mondays. So I waited till Monday. I called to make an appointment. I was first on the wait list. Took five minutes to answer the phone. They tried to transfer the call right away and hung up on me instead. Called again and waited five minutes on hold even though I'm first on the wait list again. Transferred right away. Apparently they do make appointments months in advance. To get some basic immunizations can't get an appointment for a month and a half. So far very disappointed with my choice in health care providers. I don't recommend it. I hope I have better luck with making a dental appointment but not likely.

I have been very impressed with how CHPW really does care about their members and how diligently they work with their partners to make sure the services provided at CHCs are top of the industry.
