This was a great place to see native wildlife. The guides were wonderful, fun and knowledgable. They shows us howler monkeys, birds, butterflies and pretty local plants. We learned a lot and enjoyed walking through local habitat with so much wildlife.

This was the best thing we did in Belize. We got a guide after we got off the cruise ship and had our own personal tour of the island and another personal tour guide in the rain forest to see the baboons. It was amazing and our guide was awesome! I highly recommend visiting here if you have the time. We hope to go back again some day to see these fascinating animals as well as the leaf cutter ants and many butterflies and other plants and insects we saw.

It's really amazing what the community does to preserve the wild life and in this case the howler monkeys! Robert the fish is extremely knowledgeable and even teaches some really good song! Love the visit.

Dwayne was our tour guide and he is the most incredibly gifted conservationist who has intelligence way beyond his years. We are both conservationists ourselves and he taught us so much about the anthropology of the Creole and Mayan people and the medicines they made from nature which we found in the jungle. Dwayne also introduced us to many howler monkeys and was so knowledgeable about their biology and the threats to them due to human invasion. This was a bucket list experience to interact in the wild with such beautiful creatures. We have so respect and admiration to Dwayne and the other conservationists who are working for so little financial reward to preserve the natural habitat and wildlife in their beautiful country.

Although they do not have you feed the howler monkeys anymore it was so cool to literally be standing right under the trees they were climbing around in. Be sure to wear sneakers lots of walking in jungle area and drink lots of water when the sun is full force it gets pretty toasty. The guide was super friendly and very informative about the jungle life. There are bathrooms where you check in, go before you walk so you can just relax and enjoy the howler monkeys for as long as you'd like

Support local ecoconservation by stopping by. This is totally worth the $7 US. You will be face to face with the howler monkeys. Russell took us and we learned so much about the animals and local plants.

We didn't know what to expect, but had a fun experience here. The monkeys (howler monkeys) we're so close you could have touched them (although not allowed to). If you enjoy seeing them in their natural habitat, this is for you.

Definitely a must while in Belize. Guides were very informative and forth coming with information. Wonderful experience, especially for children. Tour includes a hike in nature and if brave; a face to face with wild howler monkeys.

Ridiculous! You will pay 7US $ for a guide who will annoy the monkeys to bring them down and make them cry for the tourists and 20 'of "ballad" because apparently on 20 miles of park there are only 2 monkeys just at the entrance .... Fortunately, it's called Sanctuary ...

This was an amazing experience. My guide was knowledgeable and clearly a monkey whisperer. Your dollars also go towards the important effort of preserving land for these beautiful animals.

$10 us a person spend 5 min to see the monkeys, I will not do it again, I will give 0 stars, I have better encounters with monkeys at fairs in the US, finish paying $50 us for 5min adventure with my kids, go to Mexico have better monkey encounters, for a quarter of the price!
(Not worted the money)

Dwayne was our guide. He explained how this rural community and 200 land owners came together in setting up this preserve to save the Howler Monkeys. Local guides (unpaid). Work in the preserve and they have great knowledge of the monkeys and the forest that sustains them. He explained to us about numerous medicinal plants....knowledge from the ancient Mayans.
Don t miss this place when you are in Belize and be sure to hire a local guide.

The sanctuary is great in that it protects the habitat of the black howler monkeys and other wildlife here, as well as promotes conservation of the riverbank. Our experience was poor - our guide was drunk, attracted monkeys by hand by feeding them some special leaves (he said coca leaves but they seemed big and green) and tried to get them worked up to howl. We were saddened, it seemed to us that conservation and low impact would be the focus. The guide kept digging for tips and trying to tell us we saw what we wanted. We finally just had to say: no, we didn't appreciate him interfering with the animals and that the tour was not good for us.

This place was awesome, the tour guide was extremely informative about the land and what things nature has to offer for humans and its surrounding to what natives used back in the past. The Baboon ( howler monkeys) themselves were incredible they travel in packs of about 6 to 8. The gentleman that gave the tour was an older man I dont remember his name but highly suggest him.
