David Minter is the man! Super helpful through the whole experience buying a new Yamaha WR250R. Even after the sale, will check in with you to make sure everything is still going smoothly . Great guy!

My wife bought me a bike from here. We went in and spoke to our salesman david (nice guy) very briefly prior to purchase because of short on time that day . We went in to buy used kawasaki for 6k on friday but wind up purchasing a 2017 gsxr1000 for $12,500 check paid in full to commonwealth powersports. My wife texted the salesman he said bike was 13,000 she said what was the sale price, he said $10,999. I personally told him i wanted a m2 slip on exhaust put on the bike and since we were getting it financed through our own company i wanted to add it to the price of the bike not pay it out of pocket another day, and we never got that done. We were also told she could get a helmet with the sale. Monday morning on the way to pick up the check. The guy says we cant get an exhaust because thats going to cost more than $13,000 last we were told $10,999 was the price and what the check we were picking up was. So luckily we contacted him that morning about the exhaust or we would have drove 5 hours and been 2 grand short. We go through another hour of changes with financing company and extra verification needed for the last minute change to STILL MAKE THIS PURCHASE HAPPEN. The customer was not the priority because they never onced apologized for the mix up and took no responsibility for the confusion. After my wife asking for a break on the price they offered 500$ off. Which was great. I was unable to get the exhaust and will have to pay out of pocket later. So after 5 hours of driving and much back n forth we arrive and of course i didnt bring a helmet because friday we were told a helmet would be thrown in for my wife. I used to live in the area luckily and had a friend whom i had to drive to his house to borrow a helmet that i have to mail back because my salesman says "his manager doesnt want to do that" the "manager" never once came to speak to us. IF MY WIFE WASNT ALL IN on buying me this bike i would have LOVED to give my money to another business who cares about their customers. Also when signing the deal, we were told the first service is due at 500 miles and would cost us $170. I have a 2018 hyundai sonata we bought brand new they gave us our first 2 services free with purchase. 2019 mustang gt and sheehy will cover all services for 100,000 miles. We spend plenty of money with companies and this was the first we felt as if they could cared less about our business. They must be just selling because of location and people want the vehicles that bad. Or like us. We already committed to it and had already driven 2 hours. I Will never do business again and will make sure my thousands of social media followers wont go through this neither. If we could have even heard a peep out of the "manager" it would have been nice.
I am so used to buying parts for my vintage Kawasaki online and having to wait for weeks for the parts to arrive, it is a joy to live near Commonwealth Powersports where I can call or drop in and get what I want or need. It's a quick trip over to get an inspection or a tire change and a very helpful parts department where Gunther and the others take excellent care of me. With their help I'm heading to the track in a week. Thanks guys!
I worked with Jeff on a purchase of my motorcycle, and he went above and beyond to insure I received the upmost customer service. Being located in a different state from the dealership, one would think doing business would be difficult but Jeff made everything smooth and easy for me. If you are in the Prince George, VA area and in the market to purchase a motorcycle please go see Jeff at CP Motorsports, you will be in good hands.
I have ordered parts from here a few times. Depending on who answers the phone in the parts department, it is a crap shoot. I have a Victory and one guy that always seems to answer the phone always wants the part number or can't seem to find what I need. Aren't they the ones with the computer and parts book?
The other guy who sounds like a young kids is always spot on.
I just keep calling until he picks up the phone. I suggest when ordering guy with the younger sounding guy.
The parts deparment personnel are awesome! They are always on the lookout for something that would be interesting to you. I can't afford their repair shop hourly rates. Ludicrous... My rating stars apply only to the parts department.
I just called to obtain a price as an out of state buyer and was told they don't give prices over the phone. How do people do business this way. Clearly, this dealership is not customer focused. I am sure their success will suffer as a result. As a business owner myself, I find this all very hard to comprehend.
Excellent dealer I just wish it was closer to my location. Rob has always look out for his customers and that s why I rode two hours from VA Beach to pick up my Hayabusa at Commonwealth Powersports. Thanks again Rob.
I'm only giving one star because this is the only way you can respond. We walked in the young lady at the counter spoke but didn't offer to help, we looked at the slingshots for about 15 to 20 minutes and no one even offered to help and one of the employees said have a nice day as we were walking out the door.
I went in with a Goldwing front rim for them to remove the bearings in it and the young lady at the counter squeezed me in. The tech that worked on it had one hell of a time but got it done in 45 min. He brought it back to with a smile. With all the work they had, they took the time to help me out.
Bought a used bike from this place last year, wont do that again. I was told when I purchased it (even though it was purchased "AS-IS") that the bike had been through sevice and everything was great. I could tell the bike had been dropped at a low speed, but I didnt mind since everything looked straight. A month ago I had my forks done by a fellow mechanic and the findings were unsettling. Apparently the entire front end was jacked up. I have been ridding for 10+ years now, granted not on a bike this heavy, so the sluggish cornering seemed normal for a bike over 700 lbs. After a few days of adjustments on the front end I picked it back up and took it home and it handles like a dang sportbike now. The sales team apparently took it in on trade and never bothered to have it serviced or gone over. I expect more than this from a reputable dealer. Any time I have gone in to parts I dread it because of the attitude behind the counter. I have never dealt with the service department and from the reveiws dont want to. More people should post reveiws!
The only reason why they get one star is because one employee was helpful, the manager sat there talking (very loud) to another employee about something that could wait instead of helping me, I had to wait until the useful employee was done with someone else. Last time I come in.
Kyle And Cindy were very helpful with getting me set up with my new bike and help me explore the best options for insurance and financing i recommend them!
Our sales lady, Devin was absolutely a joy to but my sons KX 100 from. She races and knows her stuff. She is such an honest person and I walked out of there beyond satisfied with my purchase. If your thinking about a purchase Devin is your lady.
I called and talked to salesman on phone several times and was told the Vtx 1300 I was looking at on their site was in excellent condition. I drove two hours and when I got there the bike looked really good visually. The bike was started and it didn t sound like it was running exactly right, so asked if I could test drive it. They said since it was used, I couldn t. So asked the salesman could he drive it down parking lot and let me listen to it? He carried bike outside and tried to ride around parking lot and had a hard time getting it to stay running. He called his manager out and he said nothing was wrong with it , but it needed clearing out. The manager then tried to ride down parking lot and had better luck keeping it running but it was back firing and smoking while he did. Then he parks it and said all was wrong was the idle was set to low. When he gassed it it was still back firing and smoking black smoke, while still trying to convince me nothing was wrong with it. I definitely would not attempt to do business again with these people!
I bought my brand new 2020 Suzuki Hayabusa on Saturday, July 25th 2020. I had been working with David for two weeks and getting everything I wanted for it. He was very attentive and kept me updated daily, even on his day off. He even handled getting me special speakers and sound system specially designed for the Hayabusa. I can't wait to crank it up hugging a curve. I highly recommend Commonwealth Power Sports and you will do yourself a big favor working with David.
They got it Wrong all Wrong I walked in salesman asked me what I was looking for . which then salesman then directed me to 850 highlifter as i asked because I was installing an aftermarket winch. He had a customer with him whom came up to me and asked how I liked my atv .i told that customer I loved my new highlifter and showed him a recent video of an adventure in a mud hole .. I then told that said customer that I bought a demo model atv for a great price at another powersports place other than commonwealth power sports . I told the customer to shop around not to settle saw. But if he saw what he wanted at common wealth to purchase the vehicle he liked . then the mangaer came up to me whose name was Robb and asked to speak with me .we went to his office and he begain to ask why was bashing his store . I told him exactly what I had said I have no reason to lie then he called me a liar. I left I wont be back place sucks and so does the staff whom is unprofessional .WOULD STILL BE 5 STAR IF BURCHAMS OWNED IT
Just picked up my new 2013 Victory Cross Country Tour today from Glenn Bailey and the friendly staff at Commonwealth Power Sports in Prince George. I'd been shopping for a new bike for a few weeks (mostly around Hampton/Yorktown/Norfolk), but discovered Commonwealth a couple of weeks ago on my way the Tilted Kilt next door. I went in to check the place out and two times later I'm riding my new Victory home. It was the first dealership I'd been to where I felt more like a respected customer rather than a target/victim. Kudos to Glenn and Robb for getting my business. BTW, I rode my Victory CCT home to Hampton today and was thoroughly impressed. Any one in the market should give Victory a shot.
I must in all fairness devide my review. The parts department is amazing. They will order what s not in stock and call you when it arrives. They are friendly and the prices are pretty decent. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for sales. This dealer is by far the most expensive around and not only are there prices pretty high but they will not work with you on price. I recently decided to give them another try just because they are the closest dealer to my house and met with Kyle. I expressed what I was looking for and told him I would pay cash but was looking for at least a price match with another dealer. He took my number and said he would return my call. After the second day of waiting I called him instead and expressed how I was wanting to buy now and need to know what he would or could do for me so that I would purchase from him. I even mentioned that even if he can give me a better price than what they had I wouldn t mind it being higher than the competitors by a little just so I wouldn t have to take the drive. He said to give him a bit that he would look into it and call me back, unfortunately he again never returned my call. I got tired of waiting and went to another dealer a little farther away and saved a ton of money . I purchased 3 atv s. Kyle was a nice enough guy but unfortunately did not follow up or have the courtesy to call me back. I ve since then have seen him as I went in the store to purchase accessories and I felt the need to mention how he has lost a sale because he didn t call me back. His answer to me was that he had none in stock and that s why he didn t call me back which to me is the wrong answer and I believe out of courtesy alone I should have been called back. I ride with a lot of people and know A lot of people that ride and the reputation this dealer has is By far not the greatest on price for bike or atv purchases. I saved almost $1000 on each bike I purchased somewhere else.
Terrible customer service. Walk in prepared to make a purchase multiple people sitting around receptionist desk talking I walk right by, not a single person speaks I spend 15 minutes looking at 2 specific bikes standing around waiting for a salesman to help, they made eye contact with me multiple times never once came over or spoke a word. I walk by the desk again to leave still not one person spoke. Drove an hour for this pathetic service.
One of the staff members was a little over bearing, but everyone else was awesome! My dad and I are new to riding and wanted to go looking at bikes. We were able to sit on a bunch of them and see how they felt. The salesman talked with us well over an hour just about what bikes are good for starters ect. Great place.
I took my bike there because it kept cutting off and it was sitting up for a while. Asked them to fix the problem and give it the once over to get me running right. They said I need brakes and the were gonna give it a tune up and a few other small things and gave me the price. I ended up needing a tire so the guy said u should get the breaks done when u get the tire ( cool ) but the price didn't change, and they weren't doing the breaks. I pick the bike up and put it on the truck and realize not 1 drop of coolent is in the bike. How u crank my bike up got it running and not 1 drop of coolent. Then today I find out from the other shop that I had to take it to that the brake pads are for the back brakes not the front brakes that they were supposed to do. How they gonna give me the wrong brake pads. But lesson learned never again
These guys had a used 2017 Yamaha SCR950 but were two hours away. They were so flexible and willing to make this sale happen, they met me halfway. They helped unload my trade and load my new ride. I have to say, the bike, Rocky, and Zach have completely exceeded my expectations. They even threw in an extended warranty!
This place is trash never buy anything from here !!!!The people who work there are rude and show no interest in helping you unless your to stupid to realize your getting ripped off!!!! Ultimate cycles Is where to go
I came in today and I talked to one of your sales man Kyle and he was a great person to take care of my needs before this I could not get any help at all. I wasn't planning on coming back until I met him.
I've been going here for years (since it was Burchams) and not once enjoyed it, the only reason I ever step foot in here is if I have to have a part NOW to ride. Mark and the other young guy behind the counter are really nice, however most of the time I end up dealing with the third guy that will literally ignore you and browse Facebook on his phone as you talk to him. Prices for parts and service are 20-30% higher than anywhere else. I recommend driving to Honda house or Pro Cycle or your local shop. Don't give these people your business!!
After having dealt with Honda House in Richmond, I will take these guys ANY day! All the people were friendly and responsive. I'd drive a little further just so I didn't have to deal with the inept associates I encoutered at HH! Commonwealth had the parts in stock, could actually find them and suggested what else might be necessary to complete my DIY maintenance. I had a good experience.
Horrible customer service. The owner himself doesn't seem to care about his customers and he basically closed the doors on a bike and 2 jet-skis sale. Way to lose our business and we will make sure to let everyone we know about our experience there! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!
Garbage customer service. Parts department informed me they had the parts I needed in stock without taking a second to check. Drove half an hour out to find out they never checked. It s hard to support local business with service like that.
I am only 13, but I was 12 when I got my first dirt bike, I didn't get it from this store, but I got it from a owner that his children out grew, but then I had to repair it some, and me and my dad went here, excellent service, and they are very nice, helped me get a helmet, an other protection, gloves, and even a shift sock, since mine was way to small, and they helped us get high quality goods, and relatively cheap, because my dad didn't take me out cussing, that things were over priced! 10/10, Would go there for any needed, new gear.
I purchased a used 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 650. My sales person was Parker Campell and he was amazing. Very knowledgeable about the bikes, helpful and friendly. He even rode my bike home for me since I wasnt too comfortable hitting higher speeds yet. I will definitely come back again.
The worst experience I have had in years with a company. I sent my quad (that I purchased from them) to receive routine maintenance. This was almost FOUR months ago. Every time I have called I have been told it will be done the following week. The last time I called was almost a month ago. I called and talked to the GM Rob today and got told they can t do anything about it and they will try to schedule it for the next couple weeks. It has been A THIRD OF A YEAR!!!!! Regardless of being short staffed or not that is absolutely ridiculous!!! I promise I will never spend another dime in this place!
Decent selection. Good sales staff. However, if you need your bike or quad fixed, don't call CP. Last I checked, their service department was backed up nearly 2 months!
We had a very positive experience all around. From Sales to Parts, to Service. We came in looking for the Vulcan 650 for my wife's first bike. It was a Saturday during COVID, so it was busy but we were patient. Dave with Sales was very helpful and pleasant. We got a great deal and Rocky in Finance was great to work with. My wife is 5'4" and the Vulcan has an ergo fit system, so we went over to Parts and ordered the reduced reach kit. The Parts guys were great and cool to talk with; probably spent five minutes ordering parts and another twenty talking bikes. The parts came in few days, and we decided to wait and schedule install with the first service. Called service and Bryce was also very helpful. He said they were a little busy but he could get us scheduled I think it was like maybe ten days out from when i called. It was no issue for me. It's summer and everybody is buying and riding, so I knew it might take time. Dropped the bike on the day we scheduled and they finished it a day early. Everything was done perfectly. Wife loves the way the bike fits now. We couldn't be happier with the whole experience. Really everyone we encountered at Commonwealth was great to work with. They'll be taking care of all our Kawasaki needs, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy here again.
Was there this weekend with my wife to get me a motorcycle, i ended up buying two bike for me and my wife thanks to Jeff the sales rep. He worked out a great deal on both bikes. Awesone customer service from the whole team.
Not saying this is a bad place, I'm just telling my experience shopping here on a Saturday evening. I walk in with my 14 year old son and the girl at the door said hi which was nice but it went down hill after that. I was interested in dirt bikes and wanted some prices to see if I would even consider buying one for my son so we walked around the bikes and not seeing any prices on them we just kind of hung out and kelp looking around at the bikes thinking someone would surely be over to see if we needed any help but the help never came. I felt like whoever was selling that day must have had plenty of business and didn't need mine.I saw what seemed to be happy employees talking and walking around but just not to me and my son. You know it's bad when your son dosent even complain about leaving and he was the real reason I went in there.
Parker was awesome! I walked in looking for something completely different than my Harley and he pointed me in the direction of an amazing DR-Z400SM. The whole process of buying my bike was super easy, and I got a good deal! I would definitely recommend to friends and family!
Always have a great experience here wether I m looking for parts or just looking around. Their parts guys.. and gal really know their stuff and won t try to push anything on you that you don t need, and in sales Parker Campbell is very knowledgeable and isn t pushy I haven t really dealt with anyone else in sales but everyone there seems genuine.
I had Comonwealth Powersports tune my bike after I rebuilt the carbs, they said I did it wrong and rebuilt them again. (I had a long talk with the mechanic and he said everything looked new, but it was done wrong). I got it back and I thought it had bad gas in it so I rode it for a few days and put new gas in. The problem still occurs. I have to rev past 2,000 rpm to take off and at 3500 rpm the bike chugs. Denali said it's normal for older bikes and he didn't feel the issue. I said it's while cruising. He said he didn't feel it. I told him he was under power when he took it around the building, it's while cruising. He said he can get it in late next week and it'll take a month to get to. I hate when shops are still in business because they are the only one around. Even when the bike was in the shop they didn't contact me stating they needed to add extra parts that weren't in the initial estimate. As of right now I'd really like to go to another shop, but after putting nearly a thousand dollars into it I feel like it should run the way it should.
I had been looking at a particular bike for quite some time. Went in to order parts for my VStar 650 and wound up talking with A salesman about the bike I wanted to upgrade to. Said what I was willing to spend and got the price I was looking for. Rode out the next day with my 2018 Yamaha Venture Transcontinental. I was very pleased with the sales staff. Sales manager Rocky and my sales rep Paul are top notch. I would recommend friends to this dealer if they are looking for gear or bikes.
Good experience, bought my 2018 Yamaha Kodiak maybe 8 or 9 months ago? Been a good bike. The sales associate was new, but made sure that I was happy with my purchase; and even personally asked if I was happy with the bike. He seemed eager to help. I will be bringing my bike up for service and see if I can do a few things to it without voiding my warrenty (radiator relocate after a close call with a stick). We will see how the service dept is and I may write another review! Thanks guys
They get one star because they have a large showroom with lots to compare. We went there to look for a UTV and they had a lot to see but we were on our own for at least a half hour. We were completely ignored by everyone except a nice customer who was very knowledgeable and was a lot of help. Finally when a salesman did come, he was plenty nice but when we talked price on the Kawasaki we picked out, things went down hill fast. He gave us the MSRP and went to the manager to see what deal we could get. He came back with an amount significantly higher. We were shocked that it was so high. He showed us that we would have to add their freight and assembly charges. We went to our local dealer and bought the unit for $2000 less. Not only were they less than helpful, they were a complete ripoff.
This is a large dealership with lots of inventory on the floor. The salesperson was friendly and knowledgeable giving good amount of details and options.
Great experience with the whole process, had a lot of fun working with Parker. He and the entire sales/service and parts department were awesome. After searching around several different PWC dealers between Hampton Roads to the Richmond area we found these guys to be the best. Great inventory but most importantly we had a great experience, no pushy sales and very accommodating. We will be definitely be coming back! Thanks guys
I'm new to the Richmond area and I have been trying all the local shops looking for a place with a service department I can trust. Unfortunately, I tried all the nearby shops with negative results. One shop charged me an arm and a leg for labor but then put my fairings back on crooked, another shop took twice as long as they promised to order a part... not good. Which is why I ended up 30 miles from home at Commonwealth Powersports. I'm glad I went there because now I have the peace of mind of knowing there's a place with honest people who I can trust with my motorcycles. I want to thank the service department at Commonwealth Powersports for dealing with me with honesty and integrity. Specifically, I'd like to thank the service department manager, Denali. This gentleman demonstrated the type of integrity and character that seems to be in short supply in the powersports industry. I'm writing this review to let riders in the Richmond area know there's a service department you can trust with your motorcycle. If you take your bike anywhere else, you should reconsider. After bringing my motorcycle back from another local shop, I noticed this strange clicking noise coming from my chain when riding. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from exactly, but I cleaned and lubed the chain, checked the slack, everything I could think of, but nothing would make the clicking go away. I called and spoke to Denali, who said to bring the bike in and they'd look at it. After about an hour of troubleshooting it, Denali let me know that nothing was wrong with my chain or sprockets but that someone dropped an allen wrench into my bike and didn't bother to retrieve it, so it was contacting my chain making the clicking noise. When the mechanic pulled the wrench out, it had been ground down on one side from the friction with the chain. I'd hate to think of what would have happened if that allen wrench would have moved enough to actually get caught between the chain and the sprocket!!! Any other shop in the same situation would have probably told me I need a new chain and sprockets, or who knows what else just to gouge me on parts and labor. I'd like to sincerely thank Denali and the service techs at Commonwealth PowerSports. You have earned a loyal customer. No one else will touch any of my motorcycles and I'll happily drive past all those other shops to come get my bikes serviced at Commonwealth. I'll also be sharing my experience with the other riders I know.
On May 15th I went to Commonwealth Power Sports to pick up my new bike I had order. I arrived at 9am and was informed that it wasn't ready yet but it will be done by the end of the day. The lady at the front counter (Gracey) was very nice. She kept me company all day until my bike was ready. We laughed and joked all day. GOOD TIMES! Rocky, the salesman that sold me my bike was very helpful and informative with the process. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to buy a new bike. All the staff are very friendly and upbeat. I will not go anywhere else.
I have never had a worst experience buying a vehicle then when I went here. The only reason I went here is because they had the color I wanted. I went in there to buy a Yamaha and walked out with a headache. The sales representative, Matt, told me the wrong price so when I drove two hours to get the bike the price jumped $300 more. The manager made him compensate for $150 but I still had to pay another $150. I went to finally purchase the bike and I kept getting told that the deductible was wrong and apparently I needed a specific deductible. Thank you to Progressive for holding out on me since this place made me re-call and be put on wait 6 times over because no one was knowledgeable on what I needed even though I asked multiple times. They also tried to charge me for coverage, and when I asked why the price skyrocketed over $1k more the finance lady said that my salesperson said I wanted coverage. I NEVER even talked to him about that. I have now waited 6 weeks and have not gotten compensated for the state inspection sticker they forgot to put on so I had to pay for it out of pocket on my own time as well. Robb, the sales manager, told me I would be compensated but I have NOT been. They also didn t fill up the gas tank with only one bar. And no one serviced or looked over my bike before taking it off the lot even though it took hours for them to figure out what the f#ck was going on, and they could have looked it over. This was such a slow day with maybe 5 people in the store at max over a few hour timespan. This is just SOME of the frustration this place caused me trying to buy a motorcycle. I will never go here again, and I ll recommend many other places beyond here.
Commonwealth is the best! The manager rocky helped me out big time securing my CRF250L. David, my salesman , even held the bike until I could drive out there. He then got the bike set up and ready to ride, , loaded her right on up in the truck, and I was gone. I'll be back for sure
Stopped by with an intent to buy a Yamaha motorcycle and wasn't greeted or approached at all. The young woman at the front desk was on her phone the whole time minus an occasional glance towards the door. I ended up buying the bike elsewhere
Parts are very overpriced then they gave me the wrong battery after I gave the man my vin. so I took the battary back and got charged a 20% restocking fee so took over a $20 loss but the staff are nice people. Company is money hungry.
I am new rider went to get helmets for my wife and kids after there looking for 45 min someone finally came to help them after he found helmet for my wife he disappeared no help with finding one for my children
Nice sakes person, but because of Management, I am revising my review. Brought a slingshot and the battery went dead. They gave me a cheap battery that does not power up all the gadgets on slingshot. Had to go and spend money for a new battery, the same one that came out of the slingshot.
