As some others have noted, not very funny. Very amateur performers. I like improv where they take suggestions from the audience, or cast member and go with it. (think "whose line is it" ) they took one suggestion at the start of the show, but didn't do anything with it. Comedy Sports next door is much better. If you are looking for a Second City type entertainment, this is not it. But then again, the low price should have told you that. You get what you pay for.

Great shows, good price, awesome people. PHIT not only offers sketch/improv/stand-up and variety shows 7 days a week but classes as well. Solid way to meet fun people in the city and to have a great night. BYOB and BYOS (snacks!)

We enjoyed our improv experience over the weekend with plenty of laughs, but after being to one other improv shows years ago, I compared the two experiences naturally. The show was suppose to be about the holidays and family gathering, but they never acted on that. They ask the audience what were 3 things we think about when we think holiday dinners. We said alcohol, whining kids, and debt. They didn't add any of those into the show. They didn't involve the audience (names, places, story line, etc). Show was funny but was slightly disappointed.

Taking an improv class with PHIT was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Philly Improv Theater is an amazing community of supportive, fun and goofy people.
Take a class and come see shows, you'll have a great time!

Went to see the N Crowd and was completely blown away. Performance and theatre have always been and interest of mine yet I had never attended an improv show in the city. Philly improv was the perfect introduction to what the Philly comedy scene holds. These four were the funniest, most warming, and most inspiring group of people I have seen in a while. I would absolutely recommend to anyone, it's cheap and an awesome thing to do any night. Again, so inspiring, will be back over and over again.

Nice place. A little hard to spot when driving by. It's got several theaters across several floors. I've yet to see other shows than the free weekly improv jam, since they feel a bit more pricey than some other theatres I've been to, but it could be just Philadelphia. I bet it's very much worth it.

Philly Improv Theater is a great place to see an inexpensive comedy show. Their acts are up and coming, so you don't always know what you're going to get, but it's fun to support these people who are doing something incredibly difficult.

I took improv 101 with Joel to improve my public speaking/presentation skills and it was a total game changer. I was dreading the class, but it turned out to be a blast. I ve noticed a huge improvement in my confidence and fluidity while speaking at work. I m taking the 201 class with Ralph now and I m loving it. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to take improv for professional reasons.

One of the premiere spots for comedy in Philly just happens to be located in the heart of the city. PHIT is producing and cultivating some of the greatest comedians in and around the city. With shows every night of the week, they are a great place to go for a date night, a corporate event, or just to hang out in the city.

Also, if you've caught the comedy itch, check out their classes in improv, sketch, stand-up, and acting! You don't have to be pursuing a career in the comedic arts, you just have to enjoy having fun!

A delightful place not only to see improv comedy, but learn how to do it well. Currently the home of The N Crowd, the behind the scenes support staff is second to none. If you are an out of towner with a show, this is a good choice for a venue.

I've been to PHIT Comedy a few times and it has always been a great experience. The shows are unique, entertaining, and memorable, the types of shows that you are still laughing about the next day. Brilliant comedy performed by impressive talented creative people is what I've come to rely on at PHIT Comedy. I strongly reccomend it for date night, or a fun evening out with friends, and they have fun shows every night of the week.

I've been lucky to be a part of the PHIT Improv community this year and I cannot tell you how supportive and genuine the coaches/students/staff are here! There's quite a diversity in shows and people, which makes the experience all the more fun, real, and inclusive. For comedy fans, the shows are super affordable, and for future students, I'd recommend taking a free "Intro to..." class to get your feet wet. Wish I would've found this place sooner!

We came to see Not Yet Rated perform and oh man! It was funny! Such a a great improv performance. They were outgoing and hilarious. They all worked so well together and had good chemistry. The theater itself is small, the lobby & theater both had a faint unpleasant smell and the seating is very tight, my seat happened to be getting kicked by the person behind me the entire time, they were an adult. I guess this is expected of a small theater. The staff members are friendly. I would like to come again to see more shows! (Maybe in the back row?)

I gave this place one star, because it started on time and ended five minutes earlier then the schedule. This play should be shut down it s the worst venue a comedy act that anybody could ever go to

I saw the improv musical Thank You Places ( "Bachelorette Party: The Musical") last weekend - super funny, great singing, really impressed with the plot and songs they created on the spot. Definitely recommend.

I love Phit. Taking classes has had such a positive influence in my life. I've met a lot of new friends and learned so much. The teachers are awesome and encouraging. I highly recommend taking classes and seeing shows.

My wife and I went to one show, which featured two troupes doing long-form improv. Unfortunately, the first was horrible, with long periods of silence, and the second was only slightly better. Class performances at Improv I and Improv II classes at Act II were so much better and more enjoyable. I doubt we will be spending our money and time to travel into Philadelphia to see improv again.

So when I first came here I felt out of place on the Super Free Sundays because it felt like a big inside joke that everyone who attends class here was in. If you weren't in then you didn't feel at home.

But I've taken improv classes here and I love the place. The instructors are talented and skilled. I learned valuable life lessons here. The community is super friendly. The shows are cheap (or free if you're a current student). There's ample seating and most days of the week there are shows going on. So come on out and learn some improv! It's SO much fun!

This was my first time going to an east coast comedy show, and for only 5 dollars, I think what I saw was totally worth it and was a good way for me to connect to some of the comedians and learn where my favorites would be performing in the near future

Took an improv intensive and learned so much. Rob was a supportive teacher and I really enjoyed getting to see some of the fun, funny shows they produce here. I will be back. Definite recommend.

I've been lurking around PHIT for the last 2 1/2 years, and it's honestly been one of the most fun and rewarding experiences I've had in a long time. Whether it's taking classes or doing indie/house team shows or attending things as audience member, I've had a blast and made some of the most amazing friends.

Philly Improv Theater has slowly become my home over the past 3 years. It is a wonderful, accepting, terrific place that houses many of Philadelphia's best comedians, as well as individuals that are looking for a place to put up their shows or perform their art. I've taken many improv classes, sketch classes, and workshops over the past couple of years here and have always found them transformative. I've seen some of my favorite live comedy shows in this venue. I've met some of my best friends through this theater. I promise you this, if you come to this theater and get involved in the community you will not regret it.

From the first time taking a 101 class, to now performing there regularly, I've continued to be impressed with the product being presented by PHIT for all comedic disciplines. PHIT is, quite simply, the center for scripted and improvised comedy in the city of Philadelphia.

Took a free 2-hour introductory class in late 2013 with my girlfriend and was immediately hooked. Our 101 class was one of the last to perform in the Shubin and I thought we had all progressed immensely. We followed that with 201, and 301 and plugged holes with workshops and practice sessions. There was always something going on, whether that means learning or seeing shows. And the community is extremely supportive! On top of that, when you're enrolled, you get into all shows for free. All I know is that I've gone and seen other improv performances by teams that had been together for some time, and the show that my 101 class put on was better than most of them. PHIT knows their stuff!

So far I have seen a total of 2 shows at this theatre. The first was Close Your Legs, Honey and the other was Pillow Talk. These shows were vastly different from each other, but both had me laughing out loud and feeling disappointed once the show had ended (because I wanted more). The crowd, the employees, the area, and the general welcoming feel of the theatre makes one feel right at home. I took my husband there both times and he also loved it as much as I did. I look forward to going to this theatre often and just enjoying talented people sharing their talent with the rest of the world.

If I had to say a negative it would be that finding the actual performers on social media is harder than I would expect. The performers' social media handles should be in the information about the show so people can tell them that they're doing an awesome job.
