One of the worst experiences ever... we took our cat there after a scratch on his paw became infected and was extremely swollen. We waited almost an hour before the technician came and took our cat into the back. The vet was able to clean the infection but then tried to make us buy almost $500 of different medications. We decided to just go with the pain meds and cone that would hold him over for the night. The technician made it seem like it was a life or death situation that the cone stay on his neck for the night. The cone is so cheaply made and wouldn't fit around our cats neck because any time we put it on he could just pull it off with his paw. After an hour of us struggling at 1 am we finally gave up. The next day when we took him to the vet she said it was probably best he didn't wear the cone and none of the medicines were necessary. Extremely frustrating to be so ripped off and frustrating at the lack of help they provided.

Our 13-year-old golden sliced open her paw on a downspout while hunting voles in our backyard. The staff took excellent care of her. Because of COVID we had to say good-by in the parking lot, but the staff communicated before and after her stitches.

They got my dog baya in immediately on a Sunday for a large open wound on her side. The staff was great! A doctor came out very quickly to take a look and assured me everything would be okay. She ended up with quite a lot of sutures and surgery but they fixed her up. I m glad they were there for me and everyone was amazing. I can t thank them enough!! I live 1.5 hours south but will definitely recommend them if your in Denver area.

Wow! Super efficient and above the rest in co stand updates and communication throughout my time with my pup in the ER. The doctor explained everything so thoroughly and took her time to make sure I understood everything. She never made me feel like I was just an in and out patient and taking my money. I was super happy about the time that was taken to communicate all. Everyone I spoke with and met was so kind. I thought their prices were much more affordable than some ERs. Hope another ER visit isn t in the future but if so I recommend this place.

I took my 19 month old Belgian Sheepdog puppy in with a high temp on a Saturday night (of course! they seldom get sick during normal hours during the week!). The clinic was very busy even at that late hour, but he was kept stable until diagnostic tests could be run. This young dog had pneumonia, etiology never fully determined. He was dangerously ill, and they provided both healing and supportive measures until he was able to come home 3 days later. When I took him back in a week later for further diagnostic tests, he was thrilled to be there and trotted happily off to greet his new friends. They obviously did more than just treat him physically....he loves their great staff! I certainly hope I've no more after hours emergencies, but if I do, I'll be taking my dogs to Colorado Vet Specialists. They also have a great Repro Specialist whom my Terv is also very fond of!

Overall experience was good. 5 stars for the vet, Dr Fox and the vet tech who came out to the car to talk with me, take my dog/drop her back off with me. Knocking down a star for what I perceived to be a rude reaction by the person who answered the phones and took my information.

My dog had a sudden issue last Thursday, and we couldn t be seen by our vet until Monday. Our vet recommended an emergency vet clinic. When I called, they were so busy they recommended I take her to CVSG instead so she could be seen sooner.

I called to confirm the check in/appointment process for their location before deciding to drive the 20 minutes to their office. I headed that way and arrived within a half hour of talking to my vet. I parked and called the posted number on the sign, indicating who I was and what spot I was parked in.

I was talking with the same person as before. There was a long pause so I asked what additional information she needed from me to get my dog seen. She replied back somewhat curtly that she was about to get to asking me for that information.

I m sure she had a long day, and I m sure she is over dealing with pet owners who are in crisis mode worried about their pets. My biggest issue the entire experience was dealing with her. I shouldn t have to prompt the person to get more info from me. I fully recognize I was upset to begin with, but after my positive interactions with the vet tech and Dr Fox, I m inclined to think I picked up things as they were.

Overall, I m thankful for the care and as much info as they were able to provide for my dog. She needed to see a specialist which they didn t have, so they made a referral for us. Dr Fox s discharge notes were excellent!

Vet Tech, Devon, (not sure of the spelling) was cordial and professional. She assessed our situation quickly and determined the level of the urgent care we required.

Dr. Greg Hermann examined our dog. He did a complete examination, gave us a diagnosis and explained our option.

We were very pleased with our experience and would highly recommend this CVS.

To start, I have a 3 year old Border Collie, Heele...

To start, I have a 3 year old Border Collie, Heeler, Australian Shepherd mix. I took him on vacation with me to Florida for three weeks. When we returned home on a Tuesday, I found a small cut on his face which I figured he had received from my 2 year old niece who adored him and loved giving him hugs. I had an appointment scheduled the following Tuesday, but during the next four days, I slowly began to find that he was covered in scabs from his scalp down to his tail and down the back of his thighs. On Sunday, he ended up ripping open the wound on his face so I decided to take him in after work. I called my normal veterinary clinic, but they were unavailable to they recommended this place.

I arrived around 7:30am to be quickly placed into a room. All of the lights were off, the floors were filthy, and I was left waiting for almost an hour. I was advised later that an emergency had come in just after I had arrived, but it is still frustrating that I could hear multiple technicians just socializing in the back instead of at least updating me on my place in line or just preparing him to be seen by the veterinarian.

Finally, a tech came and got my dog to shave and clean his wound. Soon after, the veterinarian came in to advise me of her diagnosis; a sunburn. I had been doing a bit of research while sitting in the room, and I advised her that I did not agree with the diagnosis. I advised her that it actually may be a reaction to a deshedding treatment that he had done twice. He is very sensitive and I had not been advised by the groomer that it was a shampoo that was left in for 10 minutes. Also, he was never outside for more than 20 minutes at a time, he has incredibly thick fur, and he was not showing any other signs of sunburn (pink, sensitive to the touch skin, etc). Her main response to everything I said was, Well, Florida is closer to the equator and it s humid. I was very tired and not willing to continue arguing, so I was given a week s worth of antibiotics and a cone. (Which, due to the location of the wound, the cone only made it bleed more. So, I put him in a scarf/neck wrap instead **photo**).

Two days later, his condition was not improving so I stopped by my normal veterinarian and she agreed with me that it was not a sunburn. I was given more antibiotics and a medicated shampoo. Almost instantly his condition began to improve. Overall, the trip to this emergency veterinarian was pointless. Now I m down about $700 when I should have just waited and went to my veterinarian in the first place.

The only positive part of the experience was that my dog was very fond of the veterinarian, which is incredibly rare for him. But, I will never be going back.

The staff at Colorado Veterinary Specialists & Animal ER were very helpful and kind in a stressful situation. We had a puppy that was born 63 hours (it's true) after her litter mates. We took her in to the emergency because she was extreemly small and weak from not being able to nurse correctly. The staff showed us how to tube feed the puppy to give her a chance to catch up to her siblings. 5 days later, she is doing well. Thank you so much for your caring support!! ~Deanna

These Guys are epic. Receptionist with a super ego and Rat's nest hairt. The diagnosis is inaccurate ( had a second opinion from Southern Colorado internal medicine). their instruments are not properly calibrated to blood tests.
Don't go their just a big Money machine to get your credit card charged faster than light and your are easily $1K out of pocket for a useless diagnosis. This happens when greed supersedes veterinary compassion and care

The receptionists and technicians we worked with here were extremely rude and unhelpful. My Berner was in labor, having puppies and needing attention fast and it took them over an hour just to check us in. Another hour and they were finally checking her to see if her puppies were okay. They were short tempered and rude when I asked if I could go back and be with my girl who was stressed out and in pain, and wouldn t even allow me to talk to the doctor about the situation. They mentioned to me later that she seemed rather upset when they brought her to the back without me and made her wait for 2 hours. I had to call them after another hour just to see how things were going. A visit that could have taken an hour ended up being almost a four hour trip. The puppy that we needed help for died because it took them so long.

However, I was happy with the doctor, I believe Dr. Hermun, who ended up helping us. He explained our options well and was very kind, and took off an x-ray charge that we had not given them permission to do. Overall it was a horrible experience and not our first unpleasant trip with this vet.

I have a love/hate relationship with this place. My dog was sick this week, where we took him to another vet initially. They were going to do a bunch of xrays, but we decided to start out with some medicine and go from there. Unfortunately the next day early in the am he was much worse. This was the only place open nearby. The vet tech within 10 min of looking at my boy knew it was bad and ran him back to the vet. Unfortunately with a simple ultra sound we learned this sickness was going to take his life. I just want to say thanks to the vet tech and the doctor who were so caring through this terrible news and explained everything so thoroughly, even though I blacked out and I don t remember much. We had to put my doggy down then, and even though it was the worst thing I ve ever done, the staff was amazing through it all. So I hate this place because this is where I said goodbye to my dog, but I love this place because they were so amazing with me and my Timmy. Thank you.

I can t say enough great things about Colorado Veterinary Specialist! Their entire staff is very professional and so unbelievably nice. They took great care of our 13 year old senior dog Cooper when he had to have a fairly invasive procedure done. We are very thankful for them! Without them and their highly trained staff we would maybe not have our beloved Cooper around today! Truly can t say say anything but great things about them and our experience!

We had a great experience! I brought my cat in, who was having trouble urinating, and they wasted no time getting him into the facility to test him for a potentially life threatening ailment. They were quick to diagnose him, start us off with a treatment plan and they were incredibly friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable throughout the whole process. I could tell they were doing everything they could to make sure my cat was comfortable and whenever I called with a question, they were quick and happy to help. I'm blown away with the service and I'm sure my cat is happy to be feeling better!

My dog ripped accidentally out 3 of his nails. After going to a different ER vet over the weekend, we saw Dr. Hall yesterday, and she took such wonderful, tender care of my boy. He still has a long road to being fully healed, but he is a million times better, happier, and healthier today after seeing CVSC. We ll be returning to them for his future care during this injury. We re so grateful to all of the folks there.

This was our first experience with a vet ER service and we were very happy with the organization and professionalism of CVSA. Our dog didn t have an obvious diagnosis based on her symptoms and they did a physical exam and took care of some minor (possibly unrelated) issues at the same time. All in all it put our minds at ease and the bill was less than we expected.

Our sweet baby had the end of his life here today. It was very, very difficult. But I want to extend my deepest thanks to the staff here for how they handled things and treated us. Especially the doctor, who explained everything to us and what to expect, and who allowed us to embrace our boy as he left us. The whole staff was very compassionate towards us, and I appreciate them also allowing our other family dog to be present. I feel comfort in knowing Zeke left us surrounded by family, in comfort, and being cared for. These decisions are heartbreaking and we appreciate the compassion we were shown.

BEWARE! Horrible. As other reviewers have said: Don't come here unless you like 2+ hour LONG WAITS just to be misdiagnosed. Waited 2 hours just to have the vet spend 1 minute with me, then misdiagnosed. Waited another hour for discharge papers. Returned because of misdiagnosis next day, waited 2 hours, when I complained I was told "well this is an ER, what do you expect?" Can't tell if they're severely understaffed or if they have a high-turnover of vets finding more reputable places to work at.

This place really let's you know it's a business more than anything else. Was referred here unfortunately and experienced an extremely disappointing visit. First off the vet that referred me had sent some X-rays over and they claimed they didn't receive them and wanted to charge me 200 to do some more. Then eventually they apparently do receive them after 30 mins and Tell me that those X-rays don't work because they need "different angles" aka $$$. Then they tell me if they do end up doing the "surgery" on my dog that 1. It could move again even if they do it 2. Charge me more $$$ for MORE X-rays to make sure they did their job right. Ended up not doing any of the bs which was around 700 and my dog is completely fine with the help of a 20$ splint . They want your money, that's what these vets are about.

Do not ever take your animal here, and trust them ...

Do not ever take your animal here, and trust them in a time of emergency. My dog had non stop vomiting, diarrhea, and extreme stomach pain. I took him in after normal business hours due to the recommendation of my vet to seek immediate care. My vet said to tell the animal ER to test for pancreatitis, as this can be fatal if not treated in a timely manner and with the correct medications.

I ended up waiting 4 1/2 hours to hear any sort of information of what was going on with my dog. They told me it was a few minute wait, and they would be with my dog shortly. They took him in, and made me wait in my car due COVID-19. They NEVER called me to update me on his condition, and I had to call in multiple times for them to say "He's next to be seen". 4 1/2 hours later, it was only when I asked them to bring my dog out to take to another animal ER did they decide that my dog's care was "urgent" enough to be examined next. Their conclusion: he was constipated. They ignored all the treatment I asked them to do, and the recommendations of my vet.

My dog kept getting worse and worse, and I took him into my primary vet once they reopened. They stated he had a bad case of pancreatitis, and all the medications that the animal ER put my dog on were incorrect, and changed his medication immediately. They stated a simple blood test could have been done at the animal ER to test for pancreatitis which they failed to do.

I called in to make a formal complaint. It took someone almost a week to even get back to me. They then stated they would be in touch with me after the holiday weekend which they never did. I had to reach out once again to see if any follow up had been done. Even though they COMPLETELY missed the diagnoses for my dog's care despite recommendations and communication from myself and the vet, they offered NO sort of refund for putting him on all of the wrong medications which could have been fatal if I didn't take him back to my vet.

DO NOT EVER GO HERE OR TAKE YOUR ANIMAL AT A TIME OF EMERGENCY AND TRUST THEM WITH THEIR CARE. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMENCED THIS ANIMAL ER TO ANYONE.

Had to take our little dog , Rebound to CVSG because he ate red grapes last night. Everything was great as usual until it came time to leave Rebound overnight for observation. The contract said if my estimate is between $1200-$1400 then a $1200 deposit is required. I had $1104 on my CareCredit card and asked the tech if that would be ok for tonight and then I will find the additional amount tomorrow and I was told yes , they would not make an issue over $96 dollars. At the front desk , Alesha was rude and unprofessional and told me at first that I had to pay the high end of the estimate. When I told her the contract I signed said I had to pay a deposit of $1200. Alesha said that is not the case and I'm confused.i said I'm not confused and I'm reading your contact. This continued until I asked for a supervisor and Alesha laughed at me. I then asked for someone above her that had decision making ability and she became furious and told me she is the receptionist and she is in charge. I asked he to call a supervisor and Alesha said she wasn't going to call for something like this. Alesha went to the back where the doctors were and belittled me by saying I'm confused and not listening to her. A vet tech came out and started to say something similar to what Alesha said and I showed her what their contact read and showed it to her.and read it out loud to her. She said yeah it's confusing but and then started to walk towards the back when Alesha walked to the front of the customer counted and said , "You come here and be quiet and listen to me". I told her I don't know who in the hell you think you are but you will not talk to me that way. The doctor came out that seen Rebound and I explained to her what Alesha had said and that Im college educated with a degree and I'm not confused. The contract says this but she wants a full payment for the full amount ( said 1 time ) or the lower end (said 2 times ). The $96 dollars was not discussed because Alesha wanted different amounts. The doctor then changed the estimate of the contract from 2 days to day to day so no deposit was required. Once this was done , Alesha became even more furious , stomped by me nearly missing contact with my shoulder and continued to the back area. Its one thing to be unprofessional , but to call someone confused not once but twice and then tell them to take their pet to another provider then to top it off , try to talk to me like a child and or a dog , "Come over here and be quiet and listen to me". Alesha needs classes on how to be professional and conflict resolution. This is not the type of person a business wants meeting and dealing with people in sensitive and delicate situations. If it wasn't for prior experience with CVSG , I would have taken Rebound to another place. If you have to go to CVSG , which I fully recommend , try to avoid after hours or just be prepared to deal with Alesha the receptionist.

When we discovered our possibly pregnant Siberian Husky had eaten a cooked T-bone while camping we were concerned... when she started vomiting bile repeatedly and choking we rushed her to the emergency vet around 9:30pm on a Sunday night. I called on the way and was greeted by a wonderful and caring receptionist who spoke directly with the medical staff to get the most accurate info while I was on the phone. We arrived and face to face she was just as incredible and helpful. Our visit with the medical assistant and vet where equally incredible... All is good Luna is great and confirmed pregnant, the chewed bones happily well into her colon and making an exit on their own. The visit ended up costing $429... we expected it would be between $4-500, we were pleased it was on the lower end. The charges included 2 meds, xrays and the appt charge. We had a happy outcome and a great experience. I would strongly recommend this clinic for emergency care!

Absolutely amazing! Brought our pooch in and were terrified he wasn't going to survive through the night. Turns out he has congenital kidney disease (he's only 3). They kept him 3 nights to monitor him and get him back to his normal self. We were really hoping it was an acute case so it definitely wasn't the news we wanted to hear. Every single Dr. and staff member was extremely caring, helpful and great with all the animals. They called every morning as promised with updates and explained everything they could see before referring us to an internist. Have to keep a close eye on him but now we know what to look for and what to feed him. A+++++

My dog had a couple of seizures after hitting her head getting off a couch - she isn t prone to them and doesn t have a neurological issue as far as we know. I was terrified. Everyone here was so comforting and realistic. The doctor (I wish I could remember her name) let me know all my options, but mentioned that since my dog was so old it might not be necessary to try every avenue to find the cause of the seizures.

I was so embarrassed because I was so emotional but they didn t even seem to notice. Even while I was waiting for my dog I saw how good they were with all the other animals.

I will say, the bill is pretty steep. But, I thought the price was worth the reassurance I now feel that my dog is safe. I was so scared, and they really helped calm my fears. I m glad I had them to help me.

I found the staff and physicians at CVS very compassionate and quick to treat when I arrived. Unfortunately, the outcome was not what we had anticipated but due to the frank and honest discussions with Dr. Wigley we had to make decisions that were life changing but the best for our beloved dogs. ( I had 2 visits 4 months apart) Every person at CVS enveloped us with love, patience, and understanding during a very stressful time. I can't imagine wearing their shoes for a single day .. but I can say that I never felt misinformed or ignored while at the ER. Dog ownership is a wonderful thing unfortunately there are times where life throws a curve ball you just never expect. The kind and capable members of the team at CVS made the pain tolerable with their care and compassion. I am grateful this clinic was open when we most needed help. (24 hours) We all have to make choices, and I am grateful my neighbor also highly recommended CVS as she too had an older dog who was treated with tender loving care. So please keep their number in your phone because you just never know when a pet emergency will confront you.

We are so thankful for the wonderful care our pooch received at CVS. After we received hard news, each staff member we encountered couldn't have been more compassionate and empathetic about our situation. Dr. Carolina was extremely knowledgable and kind and took the time to discuss all options. We would highly recommend!

How can a vet clinic (ER) turn away a pup that could be dying? That is what happened to my wife and her pup of 9 years. I'm in the military and out on training and my wife's dog got super sick. She took the dog who now can't walk, lift his head or hold any food or water down. But due to know having money at the minute to pay for the visit this ER told us they couldn't help us. I think it is sad that people whom "care" for animals so much, how they can send a family pet home to die over money.

Took very good care of our cat Bandit for congestion of the lungs. Be prepared to spend time there as they are very busy and the day we were there they had three emergencies. Very concerned and caring.

The staff here is amazing. This was the first time coming here and I'm so happy we did. The staff acted quickly and with care. They communicate very well and are upfront about costs. They also weren't as expensive as the one other ER Vet I've taken my dog to. Thank you so much for taking care of my Heidi and getting her on the track to feeling better.
