I enrolled in CSU Global's new Web Application Development certificate program during early 2020, hoping to gain some new skills after being furloughed due to COVID19 so that I could pursue a job in the web design/development industry. I am now four classes into the program, and am finding myself disappointed, frustrated, and like this school has taken advantage of me financially.

This has got to be one of the most poorly planned programs I have ever encountered. The classes cover only the barest basics of their respective focuses, and certainly don't give you enough information to even think about applying for a job in any computer science field. In addition, the order of the classes makes no sense whatsoever. The curriculums do not build on previous info or skills learned - so get ready to forget everything you picked up in the class before as the next one veers off in some seemingly random direction that basically ignores each class that came before it. I understand that there are many different topics to cover in this field, but I firmly believe the course content planners could have found ways to integrate each skill learned into the following classes so they build on each other and keep the skills fresh in students' minds.

There is little-to-no instructor interaction, and when the professors do give responses to things they feel extremely generic and pre-planned, almost as though a bot program is giving you feedback rather than a human. The "lectures" are laughably useless (they are not even spoken lectures but handfuls of poorly written paragraphs that essentially paraphrase straight from the textbook), leaving you feeling as though the only useful tool aside from some of your peers (if you're lucky) is the textbook. Does paying $1000+ dollars for a textbook seem cool? Not so much... and that's basically what these classes feel like. They have almost zero original content and instead link to other websites and other institutions videos to provide you with your "education".

In summary, I probably could have just hopped on w3schools.com or simply Googled whatever keyword describes each course's content and received a learning experience that was just as good if not better than in each of these courses. I cannot speak for the other programs CSUG offers, but I strongly recommend caution when thinking about applying for this school. This feels like a money-grab more than anything else, and if I could do this over again I would rather have paid more money for higher quality classes somewhere else. I will probably be dropping out of this program because I would rather save the money for the last two courses and cut my losses than continue to spend money and get nothing but disappointment in return. An unfortunate experience all around.

Their timeframes are designed to get your money quick and not allow thought or consideration into anything. You start and before you know it you are locked in. I attended their general class, Org300, last year and got sick. Provided documentation later showing I was sick and couldn t attend. They voted that I d still have to pay. I refuse to attend again because I d be paying for the same ridiculous course twice only because they are monetarily focused.

Don't waste your time here. They are a "diploma mill" school. If you want an education that is actually worth your time and money, I would look elsewhere. You will not get hired anywhere respectable with a "CSU Global" degree. They are not affiliated with the actual CSU and their quality of education is very poor. Cheap education equals cheap tuition at this school. Not to mention the enrollment process was a nightmare. They will forget to call you back and will not answer your questions thoroughly. You finally get an academic advisor the second week of class, which means your enrollment councilor will not be very knowledgeable about your degree path.

The Information Technology is an elaborate how to be a Windows System admin. The only Linux things taught were how to create a user and add them to a group. They state you will "BECOME PROFICIENT IN NEW, INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES." but they are not teaching new technologies. This course made me realize a degree in IT is just useless. There were some classes that offered hands on lab environments (this is why I give it 2 stars) but far more that have you writing lengthy essays to prove your IT knowledge. Add in the GenEd courses that also have you writing essays and you spend a week writing and no time working on anything technical or advancing IT skill set. I can't think of any IT job where essay skills are at the top of the list for qualifications.

Once CSU-G collects tuition, students deal with a bizarre system:

(1) Professors don t teach. No lecture or examples are given by them. Professors only grade assignments and moderate useless discussion groups.

(2) Students are self-taught. Questions are answered with links to YouTube. Students stop asking, and just search online.

(3) Instruction materials are inferior. eTexts are zyBooks from India, full of errors. Software is open-source, full of bugs.

(4) Students can interact only in controlled discussion groups. Students who parrot eTexts are applauded.

(5) All assignments must be written in APA format. This is never used in professional papers, which use formats such as IEEE.

(6) Professors consider social media to be career enhancement activity.

To sum up, students don t get what they pay for here. If this helps just one person avoid CSU-G, it was worth writing.

This is the absolute worst school I have EVER had the displeasure of working with. The enrollment team from the financial aid department to the enrollment counselors are completely incompetent. They fail to communicate with each other, they fail to take proper notes so that tou dont have to recap what you have been dealing with EVERY TIME you call, and worst of all they are by and large only button pushers. Meaning they have no clue what they are actually doing or what the consequences of their actions will be. They only know how to read a manual and parot it back to you and when you try to make decisions that effect the future or try to explain to them that what they are doing isn't working because you've spent 6 months dealing with different reps already doing the same thing they tell you they don't know what else to do because their only option is to press a button or not press a button. I finally filed a complaint with the Department of Education for their failures, and after 3 different start date changes, 9 different FAFSA qualifications submitted (all of which was donenwith IRS transferred information), and 6 different representatives passing the buck I left to Pikes Peak Community College. PPCC was able to start me right away with the EXACT SAME information I provided CSU-Global in the beginning, and it's cheaper. I would give these people 0 stars if I could. Save your time and energy. Go somewhere else.

I was overall happy with my time at this university. I enjoyed the weekly work and also the fact that I could see all assignments due for the course. On weeks I had extra time I worked ahead. I definitely found extra weekly assignments versus large tests better for my learning style. I would recommend this program and have to many others.

I started here 3.5 years ago. I was living abroad when I was deciding what school from back home I wanted to do. I tried a traditional 16 week course school from my home town back in the states but found that the 16 weeks felt so dragged out and long.

From start to finish.
Let s talk Registering: CSU -Global made getting an education and degree much easier than I thought it would be. From filling out Fasfa (since I am still an American citizen I still qualified for fasfa) to taking out student loans, and selecting which classes I wanted to take. They were literally there every step of the way and even when I was in a different country, I was able to have a seamless transition, from having my records transferred from another school.

School :
When I first started they were using schoology (?) but shortly after they transitioned to canvas platform, which was what I was used to and which is pretty at par with all other schools.

I worked full time and went to school
Full time. The terms are 8 weeks and it s not for someone who is not
Good with time management. The courses go by fast with the 8 week condensed courses. But i felt like I was learning at my speed and I wasn t bogged down with busy work the tradition 16 week courses my state schools had. The professors were fantastic, from start to finish, I had wonderful professors. We would have discussion boards post due Thursday and our critical thinking (homework) which was often a paper or presentation due sundays by midnight. Some classes were easier than others. Some classes it was a simple 2-3 pg paper double spaced other classes were 3-4 Pgs

then at the end of the 8th week. We would have our final assignment which was called our portfolio assignment. This could be anywhere from a 5-7 pg paper or 10-15 pg paper due. Ample time was giving to work on it and a lot of the weeks topics prior were to help build up to this final project. They really work with you, if you have something come up, such as I got super sick when my final was due. I worked with my student advisor and my professor and was able to get an extension.
Suffice to say. If you want a school that will work with you, and who are kind, every phone conversation I have had, every email I have had, had been
Pleasant. I can t say enough about this school!
