Convenient location. Only big supermarket in North Sydney except my favourite Aldi - which is less than 50 meters from Coles. Go there first and what you can't find there get here at Coles. Most of the checkouts here are automatic.

Mixed feelings. It is a good store for daily shopping. However I want to complain about a staff member in meat part who worked there on 25th of May 2017. The same person few weeks ago when i asked for PRIMO tripple smoked ham (when it was still available) - tried to slice some other ham for me. I knew how PRIMO triple smoked ham looks like so i told him and he has eventualy picked the right one. Last thursday I have asked for Bertocchi triple smoked ham and the same guy sliced again different product (this time without a label - so i could not say to him again that he is taking a wrong one). When i tasted it at home i knew i was cheated. Given that bertocchi costs 28$/kg and i was given some other ham worth maybe 20-22$/kg i feel ripped off. I will avoid this staff member and i would expect Coles to train their staff that it actually matters what customers want. If customer asks for Bertocchi triple smoked ham it cannot be just "any random" ham!

It has almost all the options. There is a Asian section as well but limited options. You can get Chana dal Rise Kabuli Chana Red daal. Chicken Fish is available in frozen and fresh options.

Nice New medium sized Coles for Nth Sydney. Long overdue and very much needed by the Residents and local workers. Stocked up nicely. Lots of daily Specials and Clearance stock, as well as the usual advertised Discount stock. Very very nice and friendly staff always. Parking on Walker St, Mount St, Little Walker St. Rare to see a Parking Ranger.

This is my local market so have been here quite frequently since it opened. My rating mostly comes from it being the best supermarket in North Sydney. It is a bit on the smaller side so sometimes they don't have an ingredient or two but has the staples. They do have a few quick lunch options if you work in the area and need a quick sandwich or something.

A good place to get groceries in the North Sydney CBD a bit smaller than a normall coles so they do run out of stock on some specials. Also you cant take the trolly out of the store so woulndt recomend doing a 'big shop' here..

Nice little {Coles} supermarket. It's directly across the street from a parking metre that has a 30minute maximum stay allowance. The parking metre isn't as user friendly as it SHOULD be. The Coles here doesn't have a huge range of canned fruit.

Great supermarket in North Sydney. I usually buy groceries in this store, though I prefer to buy fresh fruits and vegetables at Sydney's Paddys Market. This supermarket is well located, just a few minutes walk from North Sydney train station. Plenty of carpark nearby. Wheelchair accesible entrance. Friendly staff. Well stocked.

Pretty bad experience here. I paid with card, and the machine said I needed to sign the receipt. So teenage girl comes over, and I sign the receipt. She says "that isn't a real signature" and asks to see my card and ID. OK, bit crazy, but I gave them both to her. She said that my signature on the receipt didn't match the signature on my ID. I explained to her that the signature doesn't need to match my DRIVERS LICENSE, only the signature on the card. The name on the card I paid with matched the name on my drivers license, medicare card and all the other cards I showed her, and there was a PICTURE OF MY FACE ON THE DRIVERS LICENSE. She still insisted that although there was a photo of my face on the drivers license, and the name matched the card, she had to detain me because she didn't think the signature matched the signature on my drivers license. Keep in mind, at this point, I had already paid and the transaction had been put through. She says she can't let me take the groceries I paid for.

I asked for the manager. They can't find the manager, so I am detained there for around 15 minutes. At one point I tried to pick up my grocery bags and just leave (I had already paid...) and she threw her hands over the grocery bags to physically prevent me from leaving, and everyone who walked past was looking at me like I was literal scum trying to steal from Coles or something, which of course most would think if they see a teenage girl trying to physically prevent an ethnic man leaving a store with products, because nobody would think that anyone is crazy enough to do that over a petty reason. So after being degraded & humiliated for around 15 minutes a "manager" comes over, who I later found out is not any type of manager. Even he won't agree with me and sides with her, saying "It's just policy, it's policy, blah blah" but eventually (probably because they knew what they were doing was wrong, and they knew the real manager was coming back soon) they let me go.

So I call Coles complaint line, obviously furious. I get told that they will tell the manager blah blah, and a week later I get a voice message that was very apologetic, saying of course that was wrong we're so sorry. Next time I'm in the store about a week after that voice message, the same employee was there at the checkout. Since I like to pay with card I asked her (very politely, mind you, which she didn't deserve) if the manager had told her what she did was wrong. She tells me that she spoke to the manager and the manager told her she did everything right, and it was me who was wrong. Not believing her, I asked for the manager and this time she did come over. The manager admitted that yes, she did tell the employee what she did was right! I was stunned. She had apologized to me via voicemail, just completely lied to me, and then turned around and automatically assumed the employee was in the right, and then gone and told the employee to keep up the good work!!!!! The manager apologized, and had 0 excuses for why she apologized to me on the phone but blamed me for the issue in private. She seemed caught off guard, and just kept stuttering variations of "I'm sorry, won't happen again" without any reason for what she did.

So I called the coles line again, and they connected me to some sort of higher up manager, who connected me to the regional manager. They both apologized (which is meaningless to me after the first one, they don't care about customers, it's all just corporate fakeness) but when I asked for an apology from the actual employee who was in the wrong, they all said they wouldn't ask her to apologize.

So basically, illegally detained at Coles for a made up crime by a petty tyrant, humiliated for 15mins in front of probably over a 100 people in a busy checkout. I got fake corporate apologies from 3 people, one of whom made it clear she thinks it was awesome that I was detained by patting the person who did it on the back and saying she was in the right. The person who did wrong never apologized and still hasn't. All in all, a pretty bad experience.

Most week days there are charity workers stationed out the front of the Nth Syd Coles store. Can the store managers please do something about this as you only need to stand and observer for a few minutes to see that this is not a pleasant experience to the customers of Nth Syd Coles.

Coles North Sydney started off brightly a few months ago with cheerful staff, good discounts and specials but unfortunately whether it's due to the sheer demand for an alternative to Aldi in the area or just lack of planning the store has taken a dip in cleanliness and general shopping experience.

On weekends you'd be lucky to get a trolley sometimes but on the bright side there is an alternative to Aldi now.

I'd recommend go to Aldi first for household stuff and vegetables then beef up the shop at Coles as the quality of meats and seafood is vastly better.

Good place for doing your weekly shopping as they stay open until 10pm most days. The only thing they need to improve on is tagging food, multiple times the price at the checkout was different from what displayed in the aisle. Few times similar products were placed in the wrong place or the barcode was completely wrong and price was double of what advertised. Simply make sure you know the prices when you go at the checkout, it saves me $3-5 regularly.
