Think twice before sending your children here

Please think twice before sending your children to this school. The school toilets are very dirty and are not well cleaned and even the teachers admit this themselves. The Students here are so immature and don’t know how to behave! I went into the bathrooms and saw poop and tissues all over the toilet seat and no janitor of the school was bothered to clean it. Absolutely disgraceful. This school cares way too much about their reputation and their image and they couldn’t care less about the students. The teachers don’t do a good job in handling bullying situations either so there’s no point in complaining to them if your child ever gets bullied. Your best option and YOUR ONLY OPTION is to avoid this school and send your child somewhere else.

Horrible school, please do not be fooled by its little multicultural and welcoming facade. As a previous student I can tell you that racism is highly tolerated by some of the teachers and certain members of the staff cannot stand up for students facing this disgusting issue.

They really need to start evaluating teachers critical thinking skills as when presented with situations that can easily be solved they drag it out and fail to punish the perpetrator. Keep your kids away from this school if you dont want them adopting terrible habits and entering a deplorable and negative environment.

There is also a serious lack of support available for students in the school. Teachers stand by like egg as students are bullied and verbally abused in classes. Its almost as if the teachers are seeking validation of the poor mannered 'popular' students who lack home training.

I would highly reccomend avoiding this disgusting school and spreading the message to others as you do not want your child to fall victim to a number of disgusting behaviours allowed by this school.

As a previous student of this school and probably one of the biggest troublemakers in my year I can say that even though I had my ups and downs and felt like dropping out a couple times, Setanta is one of the best schools in Dublin. They care for you, even though it was a bit much sometimes lool, the staff are great and even though there rules never made sense to me at the time, I can now see and understand why they were there. Setanta has honestly made me the person I am today. It was good character building as I like to say. So if you want to send your kid here don't think twice about it and the 1 star reviews are probably from kids that were like me when I was younger because at the time I probably would've done the same stupid thing.

I am shocked to read the reviews of this school, and do not feel they reflect the true reality of this school. My son was refused entry to other schools because he had autism, he was out of school for quite a number of months, and we had no hope that he would gain an appropriate school placement. We were advised to apply to CPSC. It was the best decision we made. The students are embraced, valued, wanted and accepted. The education is not just academic, but the students social, emotional, psychological and intellectual development is considered and developed. I genuinely feel so lucky that my son gained a place in this school. He has just finished there, and we will truly miss the wonderful Teachers, SNA's, Management, Canteen, Secretarial, and Reception staff. He just attended his Debs night, where a Teacher and SNA, gave of their own time to be with the students, so the night would be safe, and enjoyable for all. As a parent of a number of children, who have been through 3 different Secondary schools, this school has exceeded all my expectations.

This school is horrible. I cant believe people would even want to go here honestly like the staff are horrible. The teachers in the school act as if we are prisoners and they are the guards. IT IS A DISGRACE .School is supposed to be a happy, positive and joyful place to be in but this school is the opposite. I wouldn't recommend joining this school or bringing your child here so please do your child or yourself a big favour and click off this page and do not step foot in this school ever , p.s thank me later

This review was written by a student in this school. However it got taken down because it was deemed as a threat to the schools reputation. We decided to post the review in defence. Here it is :

Terrible school! Don't send your child here unless you want him to grow up into a factory worker. This school gets worse and worse every year. Especially since the new principal. Their site is full of propaganda, see for yourself. They drag you in with comforting words promoting diversity and creativity, but i can tell you from experience that it is the exact opposite. You cant think freely, drink water, use the bathroom, dye you hair, talk, eat. what is this service? I got a report note for smiling.Being happy, is that not what you want? No, of course not. All the teacher wants is their job to be easier, they achieve this by giving punishment for every little thing you do. They want you to make it easy for them. And i find it hilarious how the staff are asking for a pay rise! disgrace of a school. I witnessed a teacher bump into a student in the halls, the teacher gave him a note and suspended him. The staff is a complete mess! The teachers lie to the higher ranked staff such as the year-heads. When proven wrong, nothing happens! Not even an apology! Getting accused of things just because the teacher is in a bad mood? I don't find that fair. I could go on and on about these idiotic incidents. They also have the audacity to state that they are the best school around, oh please... Do your child a favor and don't send him here.

I was in class and a student asked the person beside them for a pen as theirs was wasted the teacher overheard them asking for a pen so they walked over with one and stood like 2 feet away then threw a pen at their head and said I want that back by the end of class and laughed after hitting them in the head with the pen. it was even a light throw, they literally threw it as hard as the could at the student.

I used to trust this school so much but not right now. How come they are among the few school not doing virtual learning especially for those students in final year with leaving cert exams. How are students meant to study at home in midst of the pandemic on their own and expect them to go back write exams and pass? This should not be allow to happen for some school doing virtual and others do not.

This school is a disgrace. Most teachers have no respect for the students and can not teach. The school is way too strict on stupid things. The school is just ALL about image and doesnt care about the students. Its a horrible place to send your kids they are gonna get treated like prisoners and with no respect. Some teachers scare students so much that they have panic attacks going into their class because they are so scared of the teachers, what a friendly enviornment.
Mr Dowling is a disgrace, disrectful to students and parents, he is such a big liar and should not be allowed to work in a school enivorment. He lied to my parents about me cyber bully a girl when I didnt even have a phone suspended me and said I was "a lose cannon" and was "a danger to other students and teachers" and that I wasn't gonna be allowed back into the school. He was going to expell me. When he got caught out on his lies he tried to say none of it happened and that he didnt expell me and the principle and board of managment let him away with it. I was so scared thinking I was getting expelled because this man lied for no good reason at all and I never got an apology. The school makes it out that they are all this and that and treat everyone with respect and equality and its all for show so parents send their children here. DO NOT send your child here you will regret it.

I was a student at this disgrace of a school instead of their main focus to be on education instead its on nit picking at every little mistake you make getting you into trouble. Always claiming to be the best school in this area but in truth their far from it my first year in the school i was doing good good grades and everything but then i had to focus on staying out of trouble and my grades started dropping. All the staff always looked for trouble as if they were bored or something. They even locked a fifth year student Eoin Kinsella in a small room for nearly an hour, Parents your children aren't safe in this school. A black student was arrested on school grounds because the guards told him to leave the area as he was leaving they decided to arrest him and 3 guards strangled choked and threw him to the ground the school did nothing about it in fact the new principal Liam Walsh stood there watched and even smiled such a disgrace. The teachers gossip about students in the staff room some teachers that i've never met or even seen will be calling my name telling me to walk this way or that way on the hallway. Teachers search students bags without consent and the deputy principal searches lockers. I wish could type all my experiences on this review but my fingers are getting tired, dont get me wrong i have had some good experiences in this school but the bad one outweigh the good ones by far.

Great atmosphere in this school. I am currently a student here at CPSetanta and I honestly have never been happier in school. Now obviously some are the teachers aren't the greatest and if a teacher is in a bad mood then you could get in trouble with them, but if you look past that the school is great, they except you for who you are, and yes we can't paint our nails, dye our hair, wear a lot of makeup and that gets annoying but you have to look past that.

Next year the school is allowing female students to wear grey trousers instead of the kilt if they want to, I think this is a big step for the school because it is showing equality.

There are many different events happening in this school every single year such as:
Science week,
Maths week,
LGBTQ+ week.
And much more, there are two award ceremonies, the winter awards (which is just subject awards) and the summer awards (which is the main award ceremony with the subject awards and the whole school awards, so stuff like no notes, sports awards, arts awards, and more).

The only problem I have with this school is the don't pay enough attention to the Arts community, only having one award for both music and art and not even splitting it up into junior cycle and leaving cycle. Please make there be more awards for the Arts and less Sports awards because a lot of us don't do sports and fall asleep during the giving out of sports awards.

My son started here in 2012 and my daughter in 2014 and I have another daughter due to start next year. When your child leaves primary school, it s a very daunting time when they start secondary. I was very happy the way Colaiste Pobail Setanta made the transition easier for my kids. There is a good relationship with the feeder primary schools in the area. I ve never had any issues and if I ever needed to talk to the school, they were very open to any issues or discussions I needed to have. I always found the management and staff of the school very open and welcoming and I have seen first hand how supportive they are to the students. My kids have had great supports there over the years and also have been very happy. When your 17 year old daughter says she laughs every day in school, well something must right.
