Incredibly disappointed. Was my birthday and this ...

Incredibly disappointed. Was my birthday and this place was the least busy of our other choices for BBQ, and now I know why. I didn't want to wait upwards of an hour at the other BBQ places, so we came here, and it was empty. Only a few people there. Not a good sign for what should be a busy weekend during peak hours. Still, due to the great reviews on here, we gave it a shot. All of our food was cold. My fries were limp and soggy, like they were frozen then fried but not in the fryer long enough. When you picked them up, they just bent over really sadly. They were mushy and cold and gross. But hey, it's a BBQ place so if the meat is good then I can get over the sides. Nope. Meat was cold, tasted like nothing and tasted old. The ribs were oddly rubbery and very obviously not fresh. Something was off and I couldn't finish them. The sliced brisket looked like thick roast beef, was cold, and had zero flavor. The only redeeming quality was the BBQ sauce which you had to drown the meat in to even want to eat the meat. The "Texas toast" was like a slice of wonderbread that was burned and also no flavor. The bread was black, I'm not sure why they would put it on the plate. Zero quality control and the chefs obviously do not care about the food. Another strange thing was the water!!! It tasted ... Different. I took one sip and it was so strange. Another woman at a different table got 3 different drinks and sent all of them back because of the water. When we were walking out, I saw that same woman spitting her food into her napkin. So unfortunate.

The worst thing was that we all got sick. My child threw up multiple times. She hadn't eaten other stuff, just this food. She threw up in the car about 20 mins after we left. I was nauseated for hours. My husband was ill.

I'm not sure what's going on here but if nothing is cooked properly, nothing tastes good, AND you're making the customers sick, please reevaluate your standards. To see another customer spit out her food - that's what I should have done. If you walk into a restaurant during peak hours on a Saturday and nobody is there to eat - just leave - it's empty for a reason!

Great BBQ. The minute you walk in the door the beautiful smell of smoke hits your nostrils. The banana pudding is great, if you have room to eat after finishing a platter.

Update: as of May 5, 2019, this place has gone downhill. Portion sizes are a lot smaller. They no longer have real servers, you have to get your own soda, silverware, etc. This is a missed opportunity. Maybe you want to order more stuff, but then you have to get up and wait in line to order again. Not the family feeling it used to have. My wife got some sliced brisket, and got two pieces. My chopped brisket was in a small side dish. There was a 10% promotion for Cinco de Mayo, but the staff didn't know anything about it. When you pay with a card, it asks for a tip amount. How do I know what I want to tip without having some food, since you don't receive real service, why should I leave a tip? The food is good, but the other important aspects of eating out are missing. It was a good run...

***ON A GOOD NOTE***

***ON A GOOD NOTE***
***Cokers is normally fairly priced for the quantity and quality. The most important thing about this homegrown, Texan, small business that I love is their patriotism, and love they show our military, EMS (ambulance because they are separate), fire, and police. This is their normal. The portions are very generous, and the price is fair in our economy. Its great BBQ on a normal day. So please go try it for yourself, and if you get the cheerleader, speak cheerleader. Maybe that will make her happy. ;P
***
I used to love Cokers. That was until today. Maybe it was an off day, but the last time wasn't so hot either. Out of loyalty, I will always go to Cokers. They are 8 out of 10 times awesome for the price, quality, quantity, and customer service. Today was just not one of those days.

No matter how we tried to engage the young lady taking to go orders, she was unable to hide her disdain for us or more likely she didnt want to be there. We were trying to be polite and funny. She was indignant. It got worse when when my Marine Veteran hubby noticed her torso apparel promoted the same high school our kids attended, and last one is still finishing. Bizarre, right? You would think that she would perk up and be happy. Nope. We said our three girls' names (all popular IB students and Theatre Officers) thinking she may have known one of them, but when she heard "theatre" she stopped listening and interrupted.

"No sorry. I was a cheerleader." She missed the hair flip part, but the bite in her tone was there. " I graduated last year." Okay, so did our oldest daughter, who skipped a grade, and was the youngest in her class, like all the girls. The other two skipped two grades. That wiped the smirk off her face.

Then she got our order wrong, and was sloppy about it. We couldn't believe what we were looking at when we got home. This is why we think it was a bad day. That, and the blonde cheerleader playing cashier while the interracial couple's kids graduate early, and go to colleges, making her salty and jelly that her "tsk" Im a cheerleader failed to impress us attitude backfired into our order.

Guys, I love yall. However, I ordered $14.99 worth of combo (3 meats) and got a sandwich and a half worth. I did not get the extra bbq sauce that I was charged $2.99 for. I asked for pickles, just pickles. My hubby asked for jalepeno peppers. We didnt want them mixed, or all the other stuff. The sausage the hubby got was refused by my dog, let alone not edible for humans. He was originally aiming for a cup of sweet tea, but poured it in the drain before we left because it tasted wrong. The pinto beans were bbq beans, but we specified and pointed on the menu at the same time, pinto. Lastly, for the products, the coleslaw was not coleslaw. It was, um, yeah, not sure exactly. It went into the disposal after one bite.

So today was a very bad day. Between the cheerleader that lost her cheer-mojo, and the smallest portioned, gone bad or just bad tasting items, and the incorrect order, it will probably be a while before we come back again. It was not a fun time. I felt it necessary to erase my 5 star rave and post this, it was that kind of bad day. I hope there wont be anymore of these days.

Coker's BBQ

Coker's BBQ

Did not like this Barbecue at all. First time trying their food. Only tried it because it had the highest rating for Barbecue in Arlington. Ordered 1 lb. of ribs & 1 lb. of hot links.

Sides ordered were coleslaw and baked beans. Both were tasteless.

The ribs were fatty. The hot link's flavor did not taste good at all, and was too spicy. I ate a small portion of it because I was hungry, then threw the rest away. Not at all what I expected in a Barbecue restaurant.

Stumbled upon this place while waiting on grocery pick up at Wal-Mart next door. Can't believe this place hadn't been recommended to me by my so called friends! Kidding, kind of. Anyway, their BBQ is so heavenly. Last week, this place became my favorite go-to for take out. I've told many about it, in an effort to save others the frustration I felt when I realized I could have been eating here before last week, had I been aware of their delicious sliced brisket sooner. Sorry Google, I can't let others know about the sit down service, I went through the drive thru.

Cokers food is usually consistently good. The last few times gave been less than stellar. I had the rib sandwich and it was just basically bread and aliitle meat and the meat was nothing to write home about. The time before it was a little better but wasn't something a bbq place should put there name on. The first time I had this sandwich it was fireworks, the bread, the meat- everything was good. Also I haven't had it in a while, but that monster potatoe is soooo good. Unfortunately today the sides were better then the entree . I used to love this place and I still want to. I hope they get their passion back.

It's an old building which can only mean one thing, it's old school BBQ and that's always a plus! Great BBQ with the standard sides. Give the "Monster Potato" a shot and your mind will be BLOWN!

Was there on Sunday and new management making too many changes too quickly. Skimping on portions, canned cokes instead of the fountain drinks, food quality has gone down. Brisket was tough and was like beef jerky. No pulled pork available. Been eating here for years, but due to the changes and quality, that was my last trip there.

Avoid. We got "hot links" aka Vienna sausages, "turkey" which tasted like a soft tofu turkey substitute.. and brisket potato. Everything was definitely precooked a week ago and was just soft and weird. Adorable place but the prices do not justify what you're getting.

I have been to this Cokers many times with no issue.... til today. Ordered a combo meat plate. Pulled pork, chicken and sausage. Only got the chicken and sausage. When I asked about the pulled pork, the young waiter kind of brushed me off and asked if anyone else had any needs. Twenty minutes later after I had finished eating, the waiter brings me a small sauce cup size of SCRAPS, that you might feed your dog. Insulting!!! After my son argued with the owner about his part of the order ( didn't get a pulled pork sandwich that he had paid for), the owner did relent and gave us a half off coupon on the next visit. Terrible experience on a Father's Day. Stay away, stay far away!!

I recommend this place to everyone. The bbq is great and the coke decor is wonderful. The staff is always so nice.

Edit I've been a patrion at this establishment for a few years now. I always order the same item a monster potatoes with brisket. Today in particular I was given two pieces of meat. I ordered to go an was unaware. I called and notified them because it really shouldn't look like this. They state its because they weighed the meat. I've never ever ordered a monster potatoe and gotten only two pieces of meat im not even eating this potatoes my husband is. Poor customer service. I've referred plenty of people to this place as I am someone people ask where are good places to go in Arlington. Its so sad to say this place will not be on the list any longer. Smh do better

We have patronized this restaurant for close to 20 years. However, tonight was our last visit. They have adopted a new procedure where you order and pay at the counter as soon as you walk-in and have the audacity to want a tip. The only service provided is someone brings your food. Otherwise, you get your own drinks, cutlery, napkins, and to-go containers. It was very disconcerting! It felt like a drive-thru experience instead of a family-friendly casual eat-in restaurant. We don't plan on going back.

Cokers, I've recently become very disappointed in both your food and your service. My last two experiences weren't good. The first one was a drive thru order and I only ordered sides. The green beans were rancid. Straight smell and taste of vinegar. I called to speak with the manager, informed her about the quality and told her that I'm chalking it up to being the end of the day but advised that they should check their food more often throughout the day.
Today's visit was a dine-in. I will say that they are doing everything possible on Covid-19 regulations.
Maybe a little too much though, as it has seriously effected their service. They have done away with all wait staff. You have to walk up to the register for anything you may need. My husband and I ordered at the front register immediately after a family of five, and we sat at our table a couple minutes after they did. They were served in about 10 minutes, but somehow our two basic platters took another 25 minutes? So the okra was hot and fresh, corn on the cob also great. Sausage was old & tough having obviously been under a heat lamp for some time. It was edible with sauce on toast. I went to the register to buy an extra slice of toast, but no one was at register. Waited for 12 minutes, no one even around to get the attention of. All hands were manning the drive thru. Three sets of customers waiting at the register, 3 tables of dine-in customers and no one checking the front counter.
I foolishly added a small tip when we placed our order. I wish I hadn't. I'm disappointed with you, Cokers. You're not what you used to be.

Have been coming here for Saturday night karaoke & notice each time there's always new wait staff. Service is lacking in the fact that several times we've had to ask for silverware, drinks & refills. We have had times we've placed an order only to be told oh we're out if that. In the latest visit of April 28th we placed an order for french fries & told oh we're out, however not 30 minutes later 2 ladies came in sat across from us & placed order for french fries & miraculously french fries appear on their table & we we're told oh we found some more fries, but we were never offered fries. Guess in the future I'll either eat first or bring my own food that way I'll know I'll have something to eat. I come to give support the young man running karaoke, disappointed in the food & service. This place has a very quick turnover of staff & manager/owner doesn't seem to be concerned about their patrons. When complaint made at register all that was said was oh well I'm sorry, no offer of any compensation what so ever!!

Flavor was good as always. However we went through the drive thru and I'm a disappointed.
We were short a side. The sandwiches seemed like they were made on a mc chicken bunn. 3 slices of meat on the brisket sandwich and 2 ribs on the rib sandwich. No pickles, onions, or peppers offered so I assumed they were in the bag, but were not. The mac and cheese was only half full.$45 not well spent.

Good and solid bbq with owner who got crazy about Coca Cola. All place decorated with coke them, like everything. From bathroom to kitchen.

Anyway, the food good. Not the best in the Texas, but certainly worth to be consider. Brisket - not dry but not the melting fat as well, sausage is hot and tender, bologna is roundabout, grilled and juicy. Staff is friendly. But something is missing. Like, Coke products used to fix souses, or something else.

Outstanding BBQ at a very reasonable price and generous portions. Entire staff was super friendly.

I moved from Arlington, TX to Arkansas. Took family members from Arkansas to visit Texas and they wanted to try some real authentic BBQ. Of course my first thought was Cokers BBQ. They were all very pleased with my recommendation and loved the place.
