In a day and age where everyone is offering services to teach you how to code and how to get a job in the Tech industry, many prospective students are wary. But let me tell you that at Code Fellows, they work to prepare you for the actual environment you will be put in in the tech industry. I came here without knowing anything about code and I left being able to write full stack applications in a variety of frameworks and languages, customized to what employers are actually looking to hire. As a student who also dealt with a transition to remote learning, the choices made by code fellows to encourage a campus and collaborative, even in a remote environment, has been impressive. The online campus always have student and staff around working on various things and you can always see someone you recognize from another class. This has been a great experience and I highly value my time here. I would not have chosen any other bootcamp to prepare me for the new tech environment.

If you are considering the Code Fellows program, I encourage you to apply. Through the six month program, I learned more valuable material than I did in a four year college. For people new to the tech world like myself, getting through the course was not an easy task. The program was a grueling process, filled with sleepless nights and frustration, but the light at the end of the tunnel is well worth it. My understanding and progression of software development was exponential and I am eager to keep learning more. When the lecture was over, we went straight into the lab work where TAs and instructors will assist you with any assignments you are having trouble with or questions you had. It didn't matter if the question was easy or hard to answer, the Code Fellows instructional staff stood by you till you had a better understanding of the topic. Code Fellows not only teaches you about software development, but also the requirements needed to land that job position. During their career coaching sessions, you will be updating your resume to the level of their requirements, connecting you with developers from various companies and preparing you for any situation during a tech interview. Even after graduating from the program, Code Fellows has a career accelerated option where they support you and connect you to multiple tech companies to help guide through the struggles of finding the job. The only thing that would have made the experience better is if we could have gone into the Code Fellows campus. Though given the current COVID pandemic situation and everything needing to be remote, Code Fellows handled the situation very well with daily zoom lectures and provided a virtual compass where we worked on lab assignments. If I had the money and time to take another Code Fellows course, I would take it.

Code Fellows is an amazing place to learn software development. The Code Fellows staff takes care of their students, they provide a robust curriculum with tons of TA and instructor support. They were always ready and willing to answer any questions. Code Fellows has a great community of like-minded people that are great to work with and are always helpful. If you are on the edge about doing a bootcamp I saw do it, you will not regret, any bootcamp will be a great experience but in particular Code Fellows is top tier in education and community. You will end your course battered with knowledge and wanting more.

Seriously, I can't say enough good things about Code Fellows! They truly care about their students and are commited to your success. Learning to code is frustrating as hell but they always have TA and instructor support available and make sure you are 100% sopported throughout the program. This program is absolutely worth your time, money, and commitment.

I just graduated from Code Fellows, in Seattle WA. 6 months ago, I barely knew what a boolean was. Now, I'm a Full Stack JavaScript Developer. I learned so much during my time at Code Fellows, that I really don't know where to start with this review, other than to say, if you are looking for a bootcamp to attend, you owe it to yourself to check out Code Fellows. It's difficult, rewarding, and well worth the time and money.

Code Fellows was a great experience. Their program took me from a programming novice to having the skills and tools of a real world developer, as well as providing an environment that closely mimics that of a tech start-up. While the program can be very intense it really puts you through your paces, and leaves you feeling empowered on the other side.

I'm a musician, an Army veteran and recently got my BS in audio engineering. When I entered the corporate world, I couldn't find anything that seemed like a good fit for me. I was in a dead-end job when someone sent me a couple links for Code Fellows. When I contacted Code Fellows I really felt like I was talking to a 'real' local person and was immediately comfortable and knew I would fit in. They helped me get set up with the GI Bill and before I knew it, I was on my way. I was excited and the Army really taught me the patience and willingness to work hard and fight through any challenges. My instructor Adam and classmates at Code Fellows were a great support as well. It was a really good feeling to know we were all in it together and wanted to help each other succeed. Code Fellows has given me the opportunity to create a better life for me and my family.

Code Fellows is not just another 'coding boot-camp,' it is a coding academy. In the 5ish months I have been studying with them I have learned how to code like a professional and I have learned the skills required to land a job in the modern tech industry. They have some of the best instructors I have ever worked with. They are professional and thoughtful. Also, in the modern world of tech things change too rapidly for 'traditional' schools to keep up. Code Fellows works hard to ensure that the knowledge they teach is up-to-date with current industry standards. I highly recommend this academy.

I took 201 and 301 courses here and have nothing but good things to say. The instructors were engaging and approachable and super encouraging. The TAs were awesome - in fact they often provided detailed, thoughtful feedback on every assignment I submitted. I came here from a non-tech background and I always felt welcomed and like it was okay to ask questions. There was also good diversity in terms of gender, ethnicity, military background, etc. Pretty amazing place. They also offer awesome scholarship opportunities!

Successfully got a Software Developer job, 5 months at Code Fellows + 5 months studying and applying = 10 months total. I attended CodeFellows from October 2018 thru March 2019 (5 months), and then spent the following 5 months building my portfolio website, learning in the areas I felt weak in, and looking for a job. In reality I wanted to have a portfolio I was somewhat happy with before applying so I wasn't really applying for the whole 5 months. At CodeFellows there are 3 levels, which is nice, because they only bill you at the start of each level (as opposed to the whole lump sum up front), the first 2 levels (201 and 301) are 100% focused on Javascript (no other languages). The 3rd and final level (401) lets you pick which language you want to specialize in (when I attended in 2018/19 the options were: JavaScript, Java, Python, and C#). The last course is the longest and most expensive. I did the JavaScript course, which I would fully recommend. I (personal opinion here) think that JavaScript and the JavaScript curriculum is the most relevant for finding a job for a junior developer. I didn't take the other courses and I don't hire developers so I can't say for sure. In the JavaScript track you learn a ton of good stuff. And in my job I have used much of it extensively and repeatedly, and often. It was actually kind-of surprising to me how similar to the "project weeks" the actual job was (Code Fellows project weeks are intense 4-day team projects, where you often have to learn and apply stuff you've never done). My formal job duties are as a front-end software developer, which is why I feel the React portion of the course is most applicable and marketable. In addition, due to the nature of the JavaScript full stack curriculum, I also feel empowered to tackle backend problems. There is a lot of time spent covering things like APIs and in my job I've run across both C# and Java APIs and feel right at home. I do feel the curriculum was really relevant. This is something that my brother (a pro dev of ~10 years) helped me look at when deciding whether to do a bootcamp, and which bootcamp to do. As part of the vetting process I also met the people, who at CodeFellows are all very nice and supportive --- they do meet-and-greets for prospective students where you can meet current students, alumni, and staff to get a better idea of whether you want to attend and get recommendations -- pretty useful. It's not all roses. Going through CodeFellows is not guaranteed to land you a job - your hard work and persistence is what you will need to rely on for that. The program is pretty hard... no single concept is really difficult if enough time is spent on it, but there are new concepts introduced almost every day, and I didn't feel like I had time to master every concept. Do this for 5 months straight and it does take some mental fortitude to get through it. One thing that I think had some room for improvement was the job support. The people who were there and helped me did a great job, but as an institution, the process could have, I think, been a little better. It could be different now.... when I had just finished the program there had been some staff changes in the job support program. I'm also not sure what they could have done differently though - I just know it could have been better - possibly better integration with local businesses? i.e. more "practice" (but not really practice) interviews with local companies (I did get to do a mock interview with Microsoft). Maybe setting up informational interviews? tours? On-site job fairs?

It was time for a career change and I knew I wanted to get into software but the impostor syndrome was a blocker; I never thought I could learn it without going to a 4 year university. I attended an info session and learned that this is a real technologist institute, with a large, dedicated instructional team. The leaders of this organization are well connected at the Big Four and they have a profound understanding of what they're looking for in candidates these days. The game has changed and CodeFellows is leading the charge... in March 2020 I did not know what a boolean was. By August 14th, I was on a team presenting presenting our first collaboration on a Full-Stack Application built with React, MongoDB, Socket.io, and many other exciting, contemporary technologies. If you're brave and willing, these folks will take good care of you and help you discover, then channel your inner software engineer. After you've learned the skills, it's not over! They'll almost hold your hand and teach you how to secure gainful employment in your software area of interest, through every step of the process. I've done my research and I have not yet encountered a coding school that does it all. They're even pandemic-proof! The level of support and aiding technologies available to students did not diminish catastrophically when COVID-19 hit. These folks pulled it together and were able to continue the same great curriculum and tutoring with few limitations... other schools nearly went out of business! Got some solid experience and serious work ethic, but feel obsolete? Looking to change your mind, and consequently your life for the better? Join Code Fellows with a simple phone call and stop delaying your success. Worth every penny!

I was living in LA, planning to use my GI Bill funds to attend a code school that was advertising approval for GI Bill funds, turned out they weren't actually approved. I found out Code Fellows was approved, got in touch with them and it has worked out great. After my time in the Air Force, I became a day trader but wanted something more, there's no community aspect in that industry. In the coding world, it's all about community, it's awesome to be in such a supportive environment. The discipline I learned in the Air Force really helped me understand the time, rigor and dedication needed to code. The instructors at Code Fellows are dedicated and put in a lot of hard work to help you succeed - Brian is awesome. If it weren't for Code Fellows and their approval to accept GI Bill Funds, I probably wouldn't have had the opportunity to do this. Now I will be able to find a career doing what I enjoy most - coding!

Something I love about Code Fellows is how I don't have to explain to people in tech what it is. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a student - you get out what you put in, and the teaching staff was wonderful - but I really like that there are so many CF grads in various roles across the industry. One less barrier to entry. My first job out of CF was at Microsoft, and my teammate also went to CF. Neither of us had programming backgrounds before CF. These stories pop up more and more, too. One last thing: learning options. I went through the evenings/weekends JavaScript path, which took a total of 36 part-time weeks. This allowed me to work full time and handle whatever other responsibilities I had while also shifting my professional life in a new direction. Not many places offer flexibility like this. It's possible to not have to drop everything and make a change, which I found very helpful (plus the extra work time helped topics sink in). If you're interested in a code school, you can't not consider Code Fellows as an option. Go see for yourself!

I m enrolled currently for the next 201 after doing 102. The school can get intense but if it s what you love and you want to commit to it then you ll do alright. I did have prior knowledge in code (specifically CSS and HTML) from old myspace when i wanted to code my profile myself. Other than that I have no prior knowledge or education but I feel it did allow me to have an upper hand in class. I would imagine someone new would struggle a bit but again if you have a drive for your future I think this program is worth it. Networking/Community one of the things I m finding out is how they help you network because you re around engineers/devs who you might want to work with or work for or even have a connection to the company you want to work for. The community is so supportive and open to do whatever it takes to make you succeed.

Alright everyone, the scoop on CodeFellows is they are totally worth the money! This is coming from a pretty picky guy who was able to be pushed out of his comfort zone and not only learn tech skills, but collaborate with my cohorts who are the future of the workforce/ industry. Beyond my personal experience the teachers are great and super respectful! They have tons of TAs ( teaching assistants) who are always willing to help and explain things. Let's not forget a lot of the students here are able to learn from each other! This is a huge bonus in their immersive structure and design! Now look, it's not all butterflies and flowers because coding is tough. Think of the experience as your foot in the door and its your job to progress and achieve professional success. The point is, no matter what level you come in at, you will be pushed to your own personal limits and come out on the other side a better coder and professional. If you're reading this and haven't attended a course the question you need to ask is why you haven't already dove into a course ! James- February 2017 cohort-

Code Fellows is indeed a coding bootcamp, but it's a lot more than just a place you go to learn how to write code. The program is robust in that it teaches you as much about coding, the industry, and "how to learn" as can be taught in 6 months! They do a great job of exposing you to different parts of the industry and different paths your career could take you. The community is genuine, supportive, and legitimately interested in your success. If you're anything like me 6 months ago, considering a change in your career to better set yourself up for the future, I would highly recommend this program. The instructors and TAs are fantastic and if you find yourself learning from Roger, Nich, Lena, or JB, consider yourself lucky! They are experienced, up on current industry trends, and willing to help out in any way they can. There's a place for everyone in tech and Code Fellows will help you figure out where that might be for you.

Hands down the best coding boot camp in the country! The amount of knowledge and support they provide is unrivaled. The faculty stand behind their students 100% of the way throughout the learning and employment processes. Its not all sunshine and rainbows however, Code Fellows demands a high level effort. If you put the time and work in you will be successful here. Challenging, but effective.

I went to the open house last night and they had instructors there to answer all of my questions. I had my mind made up about if I wanted to attend with them before hand, but after open house, I know for sure I want to join with them and get started. They have really great modern programs. I was nervous kind of expecting people to be kind of stuck up or ritzy, but they all are down to earth people and made me feel really comfortable. I hope more people that have similar interests check them out.

This series of classes (I began with Ops 101 and am going thru Ops 401) is my first experience with Code Fellows. I have 2 degrees in an unrelated field and am enjoying a new approach to instruction. There is a good combination of types of learning in the courses including reading, demonstration, lab time, and self exploration.

My experience with Code Fellows was awesome. Their developers program provides you with the necessary skills and experience to find your ideal career. Classes are small in size which lends to more 1-on-1 time with teachers and TA's. The curriculum is constantly being changed depending on what languages and frameworks are being used in the industry, so you're consistently up to speed with the latest technologies. Other perks include talks from industry insiders, resume/interview/whiteboard prep classes, post-graduation job search support, and more!

What can I say about Code Fellows. I was fortunate enough to given with an opportunity to take both coding side an cybersecurity sequence. Taking the Code Fellows for the second time, I realize how much the tools and knowledge that they provide to the student to be successful after graduating from the program. I want to echo highly on cybersecurity as it is current program that I am taking. The instructor, David Lee, has a passion and drive to teach student to his best of knowledge. He truly cares about student. Being a bootcamp system, materials are not easy and you will need to put time into the school, however, all the materials are very much applicable to current position that are available in the field. Amount of time you put in definitely reflects on how much you get out from the program. Going into first class of cybersecurity, I've never expected to learn as much I have so far and I excited learn more for next course that's coming up. I strongly recommend Code Fellows cybersecurity program. Start with 101 and see if you like it, because there could be a exciting career waiting for you on your door step.

I came to Code Fellows knowing some Python related mostly to data science and making text adventure console games. I expected to learn about Web Development and at the end feel proficient enough to build my own sites and understand the modern web better. I got a whole lot more out of it than that, the instructors I had were absolutely top notch and so knowledgeable, I feel like I learned so much information in such a short time I'm still surprised at the things I can accomplish now. Truly a fantastic school with fantastically dedicated staff.

Attending Code Fellows was a game-changer for my career. There are lots of technical training resources out there, but the staff at Code Fellows understands where the rubber meets the road. By that, I mean both: 1) How to meet students, new or seasoned, where they're at in their learning and technical ability; and 2) Understanding the quickly changing opportunities and needs of the technical industry. My experience at Code Fellows set me up to be 'job-ready' and able to jump into a major tech company with some skills that were both needed, and that my more experienced colleagues had not yet learned, allowing start offering value straight-away as I gradually got up to speed with the specifics of my new job. There is a requirement to do some independent (online) learning in order to be admitted to a non-intro Code Fellows course... so there is some natural filtering before classes begin. The actual course-time always seemed well-spent... offering a very high level of challenge, fast pace, and individualized support. Much of the work is collaborative -- another aspect that was very well-suited in preparing me for the jobs I transitioned to. I can't sing my praises loud enough -- Code Fellows was a FANTASTIC experience that changed my life, transitioned me into a new career (after completing graduate school and working for 8.5 years in a completely different industry), and lead me into a new network of friends and colleagues.

I began Code Fellows in June of 2016 and graduated from the Full Stack JavaScript course in November. With a background in nursing and no prior programming experience, the curriculum was challenging and demanding. Although it's a fast paced learning environment that comes with a number of challenges, the content, course structure, instructors, and staff really enable students to be their full potential. What has made CF such a great experience for me has been the significant emphasis on community that they have as an organization. Since day one, instructors and staff have been approachable and have shown a genuine interest in encouraging and helping students to be the best that they can be. They also take student feedback seriously and work hard to make improvements and meet needs accordingly. After graduating CF, I started working as a TA for the following 401 JavaScript cohort. During my work experience, the emphasis on community and inclusivity has been the same that I experienced as a student. I feel like my feedback is valuable and that the staff/instructors work collaboratively to ensure that students are getting the best curriculum and learning experience that we can provide. Code Fellows is an awesome organization to be apart of.
