Drove 1300 miles to see the open pit blast. Wanted to have an incredible climax at climax and all I got was blue balled. Brought our own hard hats and was rejected.. I ve been to hundreds of blasts and never have I been left so high and dry.
Sincerely disappointed

3 Stars for friendly folks. But when I was there in Feb 2020, there was hard packed snow covering a sheet of ice everywhere. Only place plowed was where you get loaded with Molybdenum. So if they tell you to slide tandems first, say no, you re gonna do it at the loading bay. A dry van gut stuck, pulling back too far, at the staging area. He needed a tow. After several hours they finally threw down the bare minimum of rocks, not sand, by the entrance/staging area. It was a joke, as it did nothing for traction.

The other option is to slide your tandems back, in the road, before you enter. And make sure you don t park downhill at the staging, by going back too far.

And yeah, I ve been up in the high Sierras before, but Climax being 11,300 feet up is really something. I got very light headed with minimum exertion. Make sure you stay hydrated and eat some quick energy type snack.
