A fantastic place where you can breathe art! We visited this site in the afternoon.
Compared to before, the visit was divided into two sections with the possibility of making them even in 2 days.
The visit is interesting and the guide is prepared and comprehensive. On the part of the foundation, it is really a big investment on several points of view that I hope will pay back all the efforts because they deserve it.
Given the reduced hours of light, I would advise the staff to start the visit from areas that do not have the possibility of using artificial light. We have not been able to see some works in all their completeness.

An international foundation in a small mediaval Biella city . Michealangelo Pistoletto famous artist have opened the models of contemporary creativity. It's important a visit.

I visited the city of art on the occasion of the exhibition Father and son dedicated to Michelangelo Pistoletto and father Ettore, for the part of the exhibition located here (another part is in Biella Piazzo).
It is a structure obtained from factories of the last century that have been decommissioned and adapted for cultural and aggregation purposes.
You can breathe different arias: that of the 60s and poor art, that of the Biella manufacture of the early 1900s and that of the eighties of the same century which aimed at cultural reuse in an anthropological vision that combines work and creative experiences. Today the impression is of being in a temporal space limbo waiting for the times to evolve and we know which direction to go. Only the newly renovated bistrot and with the new management of the Ramella family seems to wish for a step forward of those who, rolling up their sleeves, do not want to watch, but who with the only job they know, try to create something from what they left behind. who had preceded him with the same idea.
Excellent reception at the exhibition: culturally prepared young people welcome me and accompany me on the visit, leaving me the space to enjoy individually the suggestions created by the master Pistoletto. At the exit I see with pleasure that the same staff manages foreign guests with fluent English.
The bistrot is a confirmation of the mastery of the Ramella family who, having abandoned the thankless villa Carla, offers this place to a more youthful clientele, but above all in the spirit, more eclectic. An open space with open kitchen where you could also meet, as happened to me, the master Pistoletto and his wife next to a loud regurgitating table of very nice children who, fortunately for them, did not reach the height of the tables.
It may improve further, but it is already worth trying for an alternative evening.

I was a guest for a week in this huge and multifaceted structure that seems to have stopped in the late nineteenth century for the beauty of the interior and the care of the renovation. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to test the creativity it offers, through workshops, exhibitions and more. Excellent location 10 min from the Menabrea brewery and 15 from the city center.

Nice location for the buffet restaurant, which offers excellent dishes. However, it was not possible to see the works of Pistoletto because it opens only by reservation and with a guided tour. A bit singular, during the day and normal hours, in early August.

The location is very beautiful and suggestive, the works on display are interesting and full of meaning. We brought the middle school kids who had fun in the first part of the day with the visit of the plexuses. While then in the afternoon they organized a laboratory for them which however was a little boring. In my opinion, more can be done.

I have delivered by hand to Maestro Michelangelo Pistoletto the model of my Land-Art of the "TERZO PARADISO", on his inspiration, in which I want to involve the Fontana dei Tritoni in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele ll in Giovinazzo

An excellent guided tour by the young and likeable Alessandro gradually led us to understand the evolution of thought in Pistoletto's works, starting from his beginnings. Absolutely not to be missed, also for the beautiful location, a disused Biella factory, revisited according to modern criteria of industrial archeology and recovery

I returned to the Foundation for the exhibition on Michelangelo and his father Ettore, which runs until 13 October.
the visit takes place only with a guide on Saturdays and Sundays at 11, 14.30 and 16.30 or during the week by reservation.
the foundation is located just outside the center, with convenient parking.
for those who already know the spaces and its activities, they can only see the exhibition - the visit lasts half an hour - otherwise the complete itinerary can be followed by continuing after the exhibition. the duration is 2 hours.
the exhibition section present here includes fifteen works of which 5 are videos that deal with the relationship between fathers and sons or mothers and daughters. one shows images on the fabric processing. the videos cannot be seen because the guide explains and the free visit is not allowed.
2 paintings by Ettore are exhibited depicting the daughters of Zegna and his 2 sons and some works by Michelangelo. going upstairs you can still see a work by Michelangelo: a mirror at the bottom of 3 white rooms on which the words FATHER and SON stand out.
the visit then continues without solution of continuity in a modern space where 13 paintings by Michelangelo made between the late 50s and early 60s are exhibited, when the idea of mirror paintings matures and in another large hall where you can see a dozen mirror paintings and some other significant works of his. the white space with the symbols of the main religions is very interesting and in the center a cube of mirrors that are reflected infinitely inside them.
you then go up to the attic, a truly scenic open space in wood from which you can admire the river Cervo. here too there is an installation, which symbolizes the multidisciplinary work that is done in the Foundation, which ranges from economics to politics, from architecture to nourishment.
we then move to another structure in Via Cernaia, not far away, recently acquired by the Foundation, where there is another symbolic work by Michelangelo: the bitten apple. it is a big apple covered with wool, beautiful! on the walls a dozen panels explain cutting-edge projects to solve environmental problems such as aircraft pollution or plastic in the seas. in the next room chairs from all the countries of southern Europe and north Africa arranged around a Mediterranean-shaped table invite you to sit and reflect on the issues of integration and emigration.
then continue to the space of the former factory of Trombetta father - the Foundation is based in the factory built by his son - in which a version of the Third Paradise is exposed. this space is freely accessible from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 to 17.
the visit ends with the vision of a corridor and a couple of empty but frescoed rooms, designed for meetings, dancing parties etc. for the workers of the ex wool mill. they are very elegant! above are the offices of the Foundation.

the Foundation organizes various events and implements projects in various fields and also has a co-working space, made available to professionals who wish to work here. there is also a small but well-stocked shop with gadgets and limited edition works.
I highly recommend the visit, both for the guide accuracy and to see this example of industrial archeology recovered excellently and destined for art!

the other 2 venues of the exhibition show:
- about forty works by Ettore and Michelangelo - Palazzo Gromo Losa -;
- 10 large canvases depicting the wool processing cycle in the Renaissance, 15 paintings on the construction of Oasi Zegna by Ettore and about sixty photos and themed postcards, to which is added a work by Michelangelo created with rags - Fondazione Zegna -.
the two visits both take half an hour.
the cumulative ticket costs 10 and lasts for the whole time of the exhibition. free with museum subscription.

Very interesting place, fully recovered both architecturally and socially, returned to the city of Biella. I have not yet visited the permanent exhibition, and the industrial archeology spaces that contain it, but I took part in the local fair-market "LET EAT BI", on Wednesday. The animator and supporter of the global project and also of the particular project that sees "LET EAT BI" at the center of an ethical-food recovery, is Armona Pistoletto with whom today I had the pleasure of talking for a long time sharing, among other things , even being both architects. I plan an imminent visit to the Foundation to have a look inside the structure as well as outside. Highly recommended!
