Be Aware before you go

Be VERY weary of this church. The services are high energy and motivational, however the church is overshadowed by excess and misuse of funds, talent and resources. My family attended CBG for over ten years. Not ONCE did we meet Pastor David Hughes in person. Apparently you must be a celebrity or large donor to meet the family. Volunteers are treated like slave labor and those who do have positions in the church ( I had several friends who worked there) are paid inadequately while the pastor, pastor wives and pastors children are all on the payroll making millions of dollars. A very low percentage of tithe actually goes to the community in need - most is diverted to LCD screen and likely the new mulit-million dollars Florida Keys home that David Hughes just bought to "entertain" other pastors and celebrities. The leadership proclaim that the church is about Jesus and his Word, unfortunately it is more like David Hughes and his Money.

Upbeat, cheerful and welcoming environment that will put you at ease especially if this is your first experience going to church. The sunday child care staff are very professional and the facility is very clean.

This is a toughie. We attended CBG for several months, in hopes that it would get better, but it never happened.

On the plus side, there is ample parking and a variety of service times. Pastor Dave is as good as, or better than, anyone I've ever heard in church. He is animated, entertaining and educational. They also do a lot of worthy outreach. Thus ends the plus side.

This church prides itself on being friendly. That's something we've never seen. If you haven't been there for a very long time, or go with someone you know, it's a very lonely experience, even after several months. My daughter even volunteered for one of the music performances after they said they needed extra help with the glow-in-the-dark stuff. She was hoping to meet some nice people (we were new in town) and make friends. She found herself treated as a second class citizen, if not shut out and shunned entirely by the rest of the group. She never offered again.

I'll admit to being spoiled. I grew up in churches with stained glass and beautiful traditional music. Out of the multiple services here, there is only one "traditional" one. It's the earliest one on Sunday morning and because of physical limitations, I can't get there. Since there are two evening services, why can't one of them be traditional? Apparently this issue has been raised over and over, but is ignored by the people in charge. If you go to one of the "progressive" services, be prepared with ear plugs. I have no real objection to Christian rock music, but to amp it up to this level is painful and dangerous to the hearing of the congregation and that's just wrong. It goes on for about 20 min. No matter when you go, be sure to bring a jacket. I don't care if it's mid August and 98 degrees outside, it's still an igloo in that church. I also get that the surroundings don't make a church. God is available anywhere. But, I've always thought that a church should have a special feel. This sanctuary feels like a warehouse (and looks like one), but that may be because of the people.

Then there is the difference between being a preacher and a minister. Pastor Dave, as I said, is an amazing preacher. But a minister is one who takes care of the needs of the congregation. For that, he isn't there. I tried several times to get an appt. to see him but was told he was "too busy," even during a life crisis. I was sent to another one of the staff who is apparently their marriage counselor. When I told him that my issue was not marriage related, he had no clue what to do or say. It was a total waste. I felt more empty when I left than I did when I went in. There was another time that I had to leave a message for an appt. I tried twice, but never got called back. That's when I quit going. It was abundantly clear that they have no real interest in ministering to the people that attend.

The main interest of CBG is growing and they seem to do that well. The added another "campus" after we started there. I understand that the services are generally done by electronic transmission from the base campus. If I want to see the speaker on a screen, I can watch it on my computer. It just goes to demonstrate the impersonal nature of this church. Oddly, when I started this review, I had given them two stars for the outreach programs and sermon quality. By the time I had finished, I realized that, according to the star parameters, I had to take it down, since I'll never go there again unless a lot of changes are made and that, by their own admission, isn't going to happen. Truly sad, it could be such an amazing place to worship.

I have been a Christian my whole life, but today I feel that I have a personal relationship with God because of my being "plugged in" at Church by the Glades. I cannot say it was just the weekly services that has changed my whole life -- it was so much more! It was the people who work and volunteer here who are energized and excited about serving others, it was the numerous opportunities to find a way to spread your wings and find your path, AND it was Pastor David's creative leadership that brings it all together with inspiring, engaging, and educational services week after week. Leave your preconceived ideas of what church is or what it is "supposed to be" and come and check it out. It could be one of the best decision you'll ever make--I know it was one of mine!

Church by the glades has changed our lives! This is the best decision we have made ever. Pastor David Hughes of CBG in coral springs is one of the best pastors in the country and you truly don t know the potential of a church like this until you Experience it for yourself. Best of all they have several sermons to choose from on Saturdays, Sundays, and even on Mondays. This is a must to go check out.

I *love* this place. I've found community and encouragement here that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. The people are authentic and the teaching is relevant and biblical. If you are looking for a place to belong and find truth while being encouraged in life, this is where you want to be!

I have been attending Church by the Glades for 2 1/2 years, although I have been a Christian for about 15 years. I love the impact that such a large church can make in the community and love to be a part of that impact. I have been welcome with open arms by the Guest Services ministry and by my Lifegroup. I am so proud of the outreach and mission work that the church provides.

When I first visited Church by the Glades what made me come back was Pastor David's message. He preaches the Bible along with life application. You can learn stories of the Bible at any church or even a religion class in college but I loved how Church by the Glades helps and encourages us to apply Biblical principles in our daily lives.

Yes, the worship is loud (not too loud for me) and the service may seem a little out there, but that creativity is being used for a greater purpose. We are reaching souls for the Kingdom of God.

I like the energy and the teachings, but felt out of place and alone after attending several services as a new resident to Florida, there is no outreach, lifelines or groups for seniors in such a large organization, after church there is no greetings or bonding everyone goes their own way or in there own group. I now watch the service on my computer, The church is missing the foundation, Fellowship for seniors.

Great to visit! Great church to join! My whole family always has a great time without any drama!

It can appear very contemporary at first glance, but real people with real problems are getting help 5 days a week.
