Wow! Was not expecting this world class museum in Norfolk. Really gorgeous collection but what made me a member is what they offered. So excited to try glassblowing and the film experiences. Knowing this is just a few blocks from my home is like having a getaway in the city. Really impressed and excited for future events.

After work I decided to explore the Neon District. Boy, was I in for a treat! Walter P. Chrysler, Jr.(1909-1988), the son of the founder of the Chrysler Corporation, was one of America's preeminent collectors. He focused his acquisitions largely on twentieth-century art, American and Old Master paintings, sculpture and glass.

In 1971, Chrysler's wife Jean, a Norfolk native, encouraged him to gift much of his collection to the Norfolk Museum of Arts and Sciences after his collection outgrew a space in Massachusetts. The institution was renamed in his honor.

Thankfully, we did get to go inside the Chrysler Museum today. However, we specifically went there with hopes to eat at Wisteria Cafe. Sadly, we saw the temporarily closed sign posted at the entrance. Nevertheless, I did get to enjoy a few minutes in the glass gallery, and it s amazing how beautiful a lot of the glass exhibits are. There are a lot of colorful examples of glass sometimes dating back centuries ago. In spite of the cafe being closed, it was worth the trip to see the exhibit!

I was impressed by their collection of American painting art. Although their light was something really hard to deal with. I had a real pleasure to see a small collection of beautiful Picasso's ceramic.

Amazing location, unbelievable free entrance access. It is a haven of modern artwork and historical artifacts, they even have mummies! Two full floors with immense collections from all cultures and eras, from Ancient Egypt and Greece all the way to French impressionism and very modern new age creations. I could and will come back here again and again!
