Christopher Community offered my family a Section 8 subsidy when we needed it most, and my cousin recently moved into a rent control apartment. They are very caring people.

This place is disgusting! Do not allow your loved ones to live in this place! I live in the area and happen to know an elderly women with dementia who lives here. One day she came to a fiend of mine because she was locked out because she had forgotten her key to the building. They stood outside for 30 minuets until someone would finally let them in after calling about 15 times. Most of those times the employees hung up on them and when they did answer all they did was take down her name and number but refused to open the door. This happened on a 88 degree day and this women had not only sweat dripping down her face but tears because of how poorly she was treated. The only was she ended up getting into the building was because my friend knocked on a window of a group of people having a party in one of the rooms. This is absolutely no way anyone especially and elderly women should be treated! DO NOT LIVE HERE

Onondaga St. Building is gorgeous. My Dad and Aunt lives there and said it was a great place to live. Nice staff too.

If one or two people say it's NOT OK then maybe they just had a bad experience BUT IF FOUR,FIVE PLUS++ PEOPLE SAY THE EXACT SAME THINGS THEN OBVIOUSLY ...HELPING OTHER'S WHO NEED SAFE,CLEAN, AFFORDABLE HOUSING IS NOT A PRIORITY FOR THIS AGENCY!!!IT REALLYYY SADDENS ME TO KNOW THE CEO'S CAN ACTUALLY SLEEP WELL AT NIGHT KNOWING DARN WELL HOW THEY'RE ALLOWING THESE SITUATIONS BUT, ARE LIVING IN EXTREMELY POSH MULTI MILLION DOLLAR HOMES FROM MONEY THAT THEY ARE PAYING OUT OF THEIR OWN WALLETS AND SOME FUNDING THAT IS THAT IS MEANT TO ALLOW PPL TO ACTUALLY AFFORD WHERE THEY LIVE! AND TO MAKE SURE SITUATIONS LIKE THE ELDERLY WOMAN WHO GOT LOCKED OUT OF HER APARTMENT-FYI(SHE FORGOT HER KEYS,WE ALL DO THIS!!!EVENNNN THE ONE'S WHO ARE PAID GOOD MONEY TO GO AND LET HER IN!NO-ONE IS EXEMPT FROM LOCKING THEMSELVES OUT!)SO WHY SHOULD SHE HAVE TO CALL MULTIPLE TIMES AND WAIT IN 90 DEGREE HEAT FOR AN EXTENDED AMOUNT OF TIME!!!OR THE WOMAN WHO LIVES OUT OF BAGS BECAUSE SHE'S AFRAID OF BED BUGS! OR THE FAMILY WHO'S BARELY SURVIVING BECAUSE THE RENT IS $700 ALMOST WHAT IS THE AVERAGE RENT COST WITHOUT SUBSIDY THROUGHOUT THE CITY! OR THE APTS THAT DON'T EVEN HAVE LOCKS ON DOORS THAT ARE SECURE!THESE SITUATIONS DEEPLY SADDEN ME!THE ONE'S THAT LIVE IN THE SUBSIDIZED HOUSING ARE OBVIOUSLY THERE TO TRY AND PROVIDE THEIR FAMILIES WITH A SAFE,CLEAN,AFFORDABLE PLACE TO LIVE!!! EARLY ON IN THEIR LIVES MOST HAVE SEEN AND LIVED THRU THINGS THAT MOST PPL NEVER SEE IN THEIR LIFETIMES AND ALL THEY WANT IS SOMEWHERE SAFE&CLEAN TO CALL HOME THAT THEY CAN AFFORD!NOTTTT SOME PLACE THAT LOOKS GOOD ON PAPER OR IN PICTURES THAT THEY PUT IN PAMPHLETS!!!IT WOULD BE A DIFFERENT SCENARIO THOUGH IF IT WAS ONE OF THEIR LOVED ONE'S THAT HAD TO LIVE IN ONE OF THE SO CALLED" SUBSIDIES"!!

First this is honest review
A lot happens around Syracuse we all know that
Iv had good experience interacting with this organization
We can be hard to deal with at times (you and me)
Christopher Communities works solely with low income etc population
Regulation is strict like our tax code its the government Responsibility
who really would like lose employment in not fulfilling a requirement
Try being nice those folks work hard everyday im sure they see a vastly different perspective .
They would like to help and provide a good service so thank them
Remember its a hand up not hand out

It seems Christopher Community has a monopoly on the low rent housing and Section 8 Housing in Onondaga County. My personal experience with CC was very disappointing. They are "Perfect World People" and have no compassion for the poor, sick and homeless or their families. Very political, very powerful, bad business. Now more of the same but worse, putting a 70 year old man out in the cold with no provision for shelter in the middle of the worst winter we have seen in decades. Syracuse is littered with camps of homeless people. Christopher Community is the reason why this has happened.
Landlords don't stand a chance with an organization such as this in their community.
Christopher Community is not exactly a model community. It is a self serving monopoly and has no business addressing low income housing or or other public interests.

What a bunch of creeps! I must have Waited forever on that stupid list! When they finally called me the lady was so rude and arrogant that i just hung up the phone on her!!

It's Unfortunate that this COMPANY is more focused on money than what it was intended for.. HELPING THOSE LESS FORTUNATE!!!! How is $600-700 low-income?!! It seems that they've gotten in bed with the likes of other real estate companies that are also claiming that these newly built/renovated apts are" income based" "low-income" housing when in fact they are same rental rates all over the city...only difference is normal landlords don't get a kick back from the government! Being that Section-8 and public housingprograms are becoming non existent Christopher Community has also decided to full advantage of Syracuse's city residents....sad but true....
