Was once our favorite shops but i wont go back now. They wouldnt except cash and barked at me about a mask. My wife loves your stuff but I'll go somewhere else where my cash is good.

Love the coffee and pastries here. My gluten free daughter loves the Macarons! My husband raves about the chocolate cake!

Amazing chocolates and friendly staff. They even have a sitting area upstairs so you can eat there.

French donuts. Not more needs to be said. I've had the original Cronut but the French Donut here would bring Dominique Ansel himself to tears of joy and diabetes.

Had an emergency chocolate attack and went there at 7 PM (their door said they close at 9PM and also on Google)The ignorant girl inside said they were closed and wouldn't even look at us!

Best almond croissant and merengues I have had in US. Cold press coffee was also excellent. All desserts are European-sweet, meaning not very much, exactly as it should be.

What a delight! I picked up an almond croissant and a cherry/pistachio tart, but it was soooo hard not add to my order. I was in Charleston for only 2 days, but I will be back! The almond croissant was gone in a few hours, the delicious cherry/pistachio tart was enjoyed with a good coffee. Charlottesville, eat your heart out!

Fantastic little store with many different chocolates and other sweets. The staff there were very helpful and friendly. They patiently explained my many questions about the different sweets there. I tried several of the sweets and will be back for more.

I love this little chocolate shop! The chocolates are yummy, the croissants are delicious and their cookies are tasty. I always get their coffee, there's nothing like dark french pressed coffee. My husband loves their hot chocolate because they make it from real chocolate.

The cakes and macaroons are ok. I've had better. The textures of the cakes that I've had here is too thick and heavy. They tend to be chewy. Same goes for the macaroons here. You really have to bite hard on the macaroon.

I would recommend stopping by here, it's definitely worth a visit. There is lots to choose from besides chocolate. They also have baguette sandwiches and other baked good.

There is a small patio in back and an upstairs for seating.

There is off street parking but it's hard to find because it's by King Street.

We visited the bakery Sunday before Labor Day, and ordered an almond meringue and a cannele. The meringue was stale and tasted old, and the cannele was tough and chewy, not crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside as it should be. I returned my items to the counter and the young lady tried to argue with me that there was nothing wrong with the items. I was not requesting a refund, I simply thought they'd like to know these items were not the usual standard for this bakery. The young lady did not apologize or ask if I'd like something else. So on this visit, not only did I pay for pastry that was not good, I also had to experience condescending and rude behavior from the staff.

Delicious! Small shop.. Great truffles.. Fabulous Lemon tarte! Just Divine.

I ordered eggs for Easter which were quite expensive and then had a fairly high shipped charge on top of that. They were packed in a box with no indication the contents were fragile or should be protected from heat. The eggs were shattered and the chocolate had turned that funny white color that means it has been exposed to temp extremes. If you can't adequately pack your products, you shouldn't offer to ship them and charge an arm and a leg to do so.

OMG! THIS PLACE IS SOOOOOOO AMAZZZZZZZINGGGG! LOCATED CONVENIENTLY OFF KING STREET, THIS GEM IS SO EASY TO FIND! IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY AND I HAD MY BEST ON, AND THE STAFF AT CHRISTOPHES WAS SOOOO ACCOMMODATING! THE TURNED MY SPECIAL DAY INTO A SUPER SPECIAL DAY! I USUALLY HATE DOWNTOWN BECAUSE I HAVE TO PAY FOR PARKING, BUT FOR CHRISTOPHES, I WOULD PAY EVERYDAY JUST TO TASTE THEIR DELICIOUS TREATS! I CANT WAIT TO VISIT AGAIN!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING AMAZING!

Didnt like the drink very much and couldnt add sweetner or anything to it, however the pastries and macaroons were very good. I wish the atmosphere was more relaxed and that I had time to heat up the pastry and add sweetener but was unable to do so as the place filled up so quickly.

A world class chocolate in Charleston. Beautiful and delicious. Fun classes also.

Great in-house macaroons, and the cheapest (great-tasting) french press in the area. Not to mention, the back (shaded) patio is a nice spot for relaxing after waking all day.

Desserts and pastries that will blow your diet but well worth it

Almond croissants have a special place in my heart. They are one of my favorite pastries. The Christophe Almond Croissant is by far the best I've ever had, and it might actually be the cheapest one I've seen in the city at $2.95. Life-changing. Last time I went in there they had sold out, but had one mini chocolate-almond croissant for like $1.25 or something. It was mind-blowingly good.

Plus, I tried two things that they only make as special items for Second Sunday (please google it if you've never heard of it!)
A) the French Donut (medium sized, innocuous looking flaky-doughy thing that actually looks like a cronut, but is stuffed with rich creme filling, and absolutely is one of the most amazing things I have ever put in my mouth. Others agree with me on this. I'm not exaggerating.
and B) the blueberry Au Bon Pain (I think) which was like a flaky pastry cinnamon roll type thing with fresh blueberries. YUM.

I just can't say enough good things about this place. Great seating, both upstairs and out back. GO HERE!!

An amazing hidden place. pastries are so good, but no way to heat up my quiche ? that was odd. Playing some music in upstairs sitting area would be nice and no doubt would add some more charm to this cozy french inspired place. Will be back for sure! Macarons are superb!

This has become one of my favorite places when in Charleston. I have tried almond croisssants from so many places even in Paris and these are the best I've had! They are always sold out so the last time we preordered them. I wish we had this place in Greenville, SC. It would do amazing there! Hint, hint! ;) I have also tried the Blueberry au pain pastry wish is also a favorite now. The macarons are amazing too! I am sure anything would be good that you try here. I would give it 10 stars if I could!

Got one of the strawberry marshmallow chocolates. Absolutely delicious but expensive. Definitely a once in a while treat.

I am obsessed with this place!! Their creations are so beautiful and taste heavenly. The staff is also so welcoming and kind.

Get the donut... prices aren't bad for the quality, and everything looks so good. Did I mention the donut?

I came in to treat myself to chocolates for my 42nd birthday weekend in Charleston. The staff did not disappoint! I asked them to make me a 16 piece box and to just surprise me. Thankfully, my son was with me to stop me from buying other treats throughout the shop. The macaroon sampling we bought was incredible and I'm still treating myself to a treat a day from my box. Thank you so much! I look forward to leaving my son at the school next time and blowing his dinner $$$$ on chocolate!!! He'd be ok with a pizza anyway, right?

Wow. Excellent and well crafted chocolate that is beautiful and delicious!

Ever since they opened, I have bought chocolates from Christophe. We come up every year for SEWE and I go home with enough chocolate to last several months. It is simply the BEST chocolate! I have given it to friends as gifts and they all rave about it. Even one of my friends who grew up in France!

A bit pricey, but for very good chocolate! Some of the best in Charleston.

Our visits here have been fun & pleasant. Beautifully displayed pastries & confections, friendly, gracious service, limited upstairs seating, and very pleasant outdoor seating. Elegant pastries and good coffee, pre-made to-go sandwiches on baguette were tasty. Recommended.

One of a kind chocolate heart shaped box. Perfectly tempered chocolate was shiny and delicious. Truffles with creamy, luscious centers and flavors like earl grey tea and peanut butter.

When I literally found this stand alone little building it was like serendipity. I have had many good hot chocolate drinks in my country of origin, Spain throughout my life, but Christophe's is really the best I have ever had. It has the perfect sweetness and bitterness balance, and thickness or density. Their pastries are sublime, and they even make their own chocolate bars. Their French pressed coffee/chocolate combination is also yummy. It's consistently outstanding.

Disappointed that even 5 days after Valentine's day they still hadn't "restocked" on their macaroons. Which was the excuse the girl gave me when I asked why they had only a handful of their flavors available. Curious as to why they didn't make things fresh everyday?? (I worked in a bakery for 3 years. We made things EVERYDAY, especially in a tourist town) The salesperson was very nice, but when you advertise a list of flavors, and only have 6 or 7 to choose from, it's a let down. Chocolate flavor was good, did not care for the strawberry or lemon, which is usually my favorite.

Lovely shop with superb confections. We were a bit surprised when a worker openly chastised the worker that was filling our chocolate order and cut in to complete the job. This seemed in poor taste and left us feeling quite awkward.

Great Macaroons, but the customer service was horrible.

The best almond croissants ever! So good that we went back the next day for more. Great cookies and chocolate too. Tried the double chocolate cookie and some dark chocolate and both were outstanding. Nice patio to eat your goodies at. Free wi-fi. Have a good selection of coffee drinks as well. Highly recommend.

This is a must stop shop on your visit to Charleston. The chocolates are out of this world and he has such a variety of other French pastries and chocolates and desserts that you can't make your mind up! I'm a repeat customer and always buy his products and the quality is excellent!!!

I custom ordered macaroons for my WEDDING in my colors: pastel pink, french blue, and lavender (all pastel shades). The morning of my wedding my coordinator picked up the order and they were ORANGE, TEAL, and a darker pinkish brown color. I even custom ordered my flavors and had to get a set minimum ordered. I sent color swatches as requested. I did everything via email. Last minute someone else emailed me to say they were taking over the order and wanted to confirm my colors and I did.

When we asked to correct this we were told no and that the chef told me in person the colors don't always come out to match. I NEVER spoke to a chef in person as it was all over email.... so that was a lie. They also wouldn't fix the order and were extremely rude on my wedding day! How is ORANGE the same as LAVENDER PURPLE? It even said the colors on the box invoice!! WORST PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH AND LIE, WILL NOT RETURN, DON'T USE THEM FOR YOUR WEDDING OR EVER ORDER "CUSTOM" COLORS as they are color blind. Thank goodness for the macaroon boutique who saved the day!

Yummy chocolates and deserts at Christophe Artisan Chocolatier but a lady on the staff is insanely rude. My mom stops here every time she visits Charleston as she loves it so much. Although today my mom was using a downstairs sink that is entirely in the open (with no signage that is for employees only) to pour out the last of coffee before putting it in the trash to mindful of the staff who take out of the trash. One of the staff members was so rude telling my mom that is not intended for customers and as my mom is trying to explain why she was using it, she cut her off and said again it is not intended for customers. Please hire nicer staff members or else your customers will not come around again.

Amaaaaaazing drinking chocolate. Such a cute little place and so yummy. We got the last two of the day!

I had a pistachio cheesecake that was delicious and reasonably priced. It wasn't even a slice, they give you a whole, tiny, cheesecake. It made me feel like terrible giant who's heart had been warmed by a human baker.
Also they have interesting chocolate flavors, but the chocolates are expensive so I had to choose between lavender (yum) and blue cheese (maybe someday, after I sell some golf clubs).

A personal favorite of mine. I like the pastries, the cherry and apple tarts are my favorite. The quiches are great. Top it all off with a cold drinking chocolate.

We have been coming here for years. We have always enjoyed the elegant and delicious treats but the last 2 times we have been there, we have been treated rudely. We hope this does not continue as we so love the desserts and cute patio seating. This is really disappointing.

I had the iced French pressed coffee. Yum! My husband had a Carmel Chocolate that was dense and rich. The store reminded me of a typical French chocolate store. Also have pastries and cookies.

My husband bought me a sleeve of 7 chocolates for my birthday and they were amazing. Not only was each one delicious, they were beautifully decorated! The staff was super nice, as well. I can't wait to go back to try the macaroons.

This business must be run as a hobby. Open until 6 pm on Sunday but are out of items by noon. This has happened on multiple occasions and told you have to call ahead to reserve an item. But why should you when you shop early in the day? I'll have to find a similar shop that knows a little about inventory control.

We started a very busy day in Charleston with a perfect treat of coffee, tea, and the most delicious croissants! We enjoyed our treats in the small courtyard and vowed to return again! This is a slice of happiness!

Love this place. Worth a trip. When I am in town I always stop for a pastry or chocolate. The coffee drink with chocolate is wonderful, I always get it iced. So refreshing on a hot Charleston day.
