Absolutely delicious food, especially the duck confit pasta, and amazing service :)!
Absolutely delicious food, especially the duck confit pasta, and amazing service :)!
Small dining room where they tried to jam as many tables as possible. I was constantly being bumped throughout my meal. Not suitable for someone over 5.5 feet tall.
Waiter was polite but would drop things off and immediately vanish without facilitating any questions.
Food was decent but extremely over priced.
I did not get a chance to experience the bakery side of the restaurant, but I assume it is better considering this place is still in business.
Would not recommend
One of the worst places in Santa Fe. The service is awful. Sat at a table for 15-20 minutes with not having waters for at least 10 minutes. Also, got a chance to order two coffees and only was brought one. After 20 minutes we got up and left. In addition, another woman was inquiring about a table for three and was essentially ignored for the entire time we were there. I mean, completely unacceptable especially when your business is probably hinging on a good business on the small outdoor patio. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
I've come to Chez Mamou twice. Both times were for restaurant week. The French onion soup is amazing; it is one of the best I've had. For dinner I had scallop Papparedelle. It was ok. My evening was prolonged by the kitchen not seeing our ticket. I had a raspberry tart for dessert. The creme brulee might've been better. The tart was dry.
Overall 4 stars. I had to keep asking for water refills. The kitchen not getting our ticket and increasing our wait was annoying.
Service was non existing to buy something from the bakery
This place was quaint and awesome! The food was delicious, the atmosphere relaxing, and the staff friendly. You MUST go at least once if you are in Santa Fe!
Great food and wine with French 'raffinement'
Pastries for dessert are a must.
Great breakfast, great service.....pastries as good as it gets...will return for sure,
Great place! Thanks for making our wedding day brunch so special!!
Had dinner, the sea bass was over cooked and had been frozen way to long. The escargot was tasteless, the rack of lamb was well prepared but the gravy way to bland. And finally the lemon tart crust was the consistency of cardboard. We had really looked forward to a good French meal but were sadly disappointed by the bland offering. I would have given it two stars but the waiter was very good and I could not fault the service. They definitely need a French chef.
Beautiful brunch experience. Extensive selection of authentic French cuisine, awesome wine selection. Great service.
Great restaurant and great food. Only complaint would be the service which felt very fake and like we were bothering her to be there. I hope to have a different server if we go again.
Great food, not the best service. I recommend it to anyone that has time.
The greatest restaurant for breakfast. Wonderful atmosphere, good service. Try their pastries especially the cheese danish
Waited 20 minutes for a menu after I walked to the front to ask. Waited another 10 minutes and gave up and left!
This place was amazing
Food and service was top shelf
Wonderful food and presentation. Excellent salads. Small dining area with some outdoor tables. Star off for teacup not free of lipstick and glass tabletop not really thoroughly cleaned.
You feel like you re in Europe. Take a break from green chili and try the spinach crepe or French onion soup and save room for dessert!
I can wait to go back once the weather improves or inside dining is available.
We stayed in Santa Fe for a week and had several breakfasts here with their scrumptious pastries and two dinners because our first one was so outstanding we just had to return for more. Highly recommend this restaurant. Service was excellent and so were their dinners (extremely tender meats, delicious flavors) and breakfast.
Truly outstanding pastries -- especially the almond croissants. I found this place after a disappointing trip to another French bakery in Santa Fe. My family liked Chez Mamou so much we ended up eating breakfast there four days in a row.
I went here just for drinks and desserts because it is high-end. Gorgeous atmosphere (outside seating), excellent service and amazing desserts! I could not have had a better experience.
Great food, delicious desserts. I love this place and always stop here when I am in Santa Fe.
What a find!! French in the wilderness.
It was great!!
Wonderful! Both the lemon tart and the pear pastry were perfect. Dog-friendly patio was great for both our large dog and small dog. Top-notch service, too.
The best eggs benedict in Santa Fe. The atmosphere is very classic and the staff is very professional. I would also recommend trying some of their baked goods.
Lookup parking before making the drive, as this area is very popular and parallel parking will most likely not be available. I would recommend parking in a nearby parking structure or by the nearby church.
So perfect for a late evening dinner after a long day of art shopping
More of a tourist spot in town. Food was good. Service not so good.
We went there three times in a row for breakfast. The breakfast pastries and dishes were always very good. Authentic French croissants.
The waiters are very friendly and efficient
Very pleasant outdoor space when the weather is good. Brunch was good. Service was mediocre.
Four of us had lunch. Eggs Benedict, omelette, onion soup, lemon tart. Yes a little eclectic. Everything looked great and tasted great. Good service, comfortable seating. We were very happy!
Food was good, service was pretty slow though. But we also didn't have reservations, so perhaps that was my own fault. So if you want to visit, definitely make a reservation!
Lovely place, but there was one totally stressed young lady serving the entire restaurant alone! She did her best but I finally left without eating. No manager in site. Unacceptable. Will not be back.
Very Parisian. Try the cozy courtyard, it's delightful.
Spent 35 minutes at a table without a menu for my first attempted meal there. Got up and left because I had to refill the meter. Ate somewhere else.
Second attempt I got food in an appropriate time and the right order on the second attempt, however the guy a table over kept coughing and sneezing into his napkin. Whatever, it's not the restaurant's fault.
He finished his meal, paid and left. The staff bussed his table AND WIPED THE TABLE CLEAN WITH HIS NAPKIN.
This is not a place I'd recommend with so many places with better service and sanitary practices within walking distance. Try somewhere else and save your time and health.
I eat here at least once every time I visit Santa Fe. The baked goods are amazing.
Wonderful food and presentation. You have a dining area with some outdoor tables which is very nice. I recommend it.
Great food fun staff , a late dinner there with friends is as good as it gets in old Santa Fe
Mussels and the beef bourginon, coffee, service, all very good.
Super cute! Very french, high quality baked goods and ambience!
Wide menu, excellent food, reasonably priced. Worth searching for, on a side street.
Delicious food and beautiful atmosphere. The French onion soup is amazing!! I definitely recommend it! The cute French baked goods were adorable. The menu is full of French cuisine that is rare to find in other places. The owner was nice. Only thing that was a issue was the long wait and slow service, but overall worth it.
Great wine, great rack of lamb, so so ribeye, very cheap flatware, great pastries
I eat breakfast here every time I visit Santa Fe. The food and service are always fantastic. The atmosphere is awesome. Somehow I always feel a little more intelligent and cultured after eating here!
The real deal. Even the wait staff seem to have been schooled in France. The pastries are beyond excellent. Way cheaper than a flight to France . Go enjoy the French way of eating well. Mike
Incredible quality and kind attentive service. Highly recommended
Took the family for Mother's day and the food was really good. Service is about on par with a busy bakery/cafe so don't expect too much attention at peak times.
The food was excellent but the service was sub par. No sweetener, no silverware, no syrup with French toast. I would return just for the food.
NOT worth the $$$! I've been there several times now and the food is ridiculously expensive for what it is. It's organic, but the portions are so small that I always leave the place still hungry, even after spending up to $30! The taste isn't anything to rave about, either. Many of the food items are bland and without any kind of pzazz. What's more, the service is absolutely horrible. The staff is slow, rude and even dumb. There are only two servers there that actually know how to do their jobs, but the others, which is the majority, need to be replaced immediately!!
Regular stop for us when we go to Santa Fe. This is how croissants should be! Every sweet treat is good! We always get our treats to go and eat in the park across the street. We also recently tried the croissant jambon et fromage. Ham and cheese croissant from the brunch menu that is served until 5p. Wonderful! Served with a simple salad and fried potatoes. Authentic french treats.
Chez Mamou is a charming French restaurant with delicious food and good service. We sat outside for dinner and enjoyed everything from the French onion soup to tasty pastries for dessert. If you love French food, you will love Chez Mamou.
So much dessert!!! I love this bakery! They have great dessert and food!
Clean place, fresh food, welcoming and open early.
Worst macaroons ever!!!! They taste it like they had been sitting too long in the refrigerator. Staff ignored me and took their sweet time to help me
Amazing atmosphere. Great good. Spectacular service.
Very poor waitstaff. They were unkind and inattentive.
The food is devine. Wonderful pastries!
Very classy atomosphere.
Chez Mamou provided a superior dining experience during these dreadful COVID times. We were visiting from Colorado, by happenstance staying at a hotel a couple minute walk from this charming location. We noticed during our walks how the seating area was surrounded by ample outdoor heating, and we were finally drawn in by their menu. Seating was perfect; spaced out, and each table seemed to have thoughtful ambiance to set the romantic night dining mood. Being safely distanced was not a problem here.
Our meal was wonderful ~ everything we ordered was clearly made with care and much skill. All the sauces were on point. My first taste of escargot and frog legs was out of this world ~ setting a high bar.
Service was professional, attentive, and warm; wine suggestions paired well w/our meal.
If you're in the Santa Fe area and are needing a semblance of normalcy, as we did, I highly recommend reserving a table at Chez Mamou. Thank you team @ Chez Mamou!
Nice meal and very good service though covid restrictions only allow outdoor seating.
Good but service was poor. A very odd layout interior too.
I ordered a salad for my dinner. It did not live up to the description on the menu. I was highly disappointed. My husband ordered a salmon meal. He said it was good.
We sat in the courtyard. The chairs were very comfy.
Birthday Brunch for my wife. We had a reservation for an outside table. We wanted to be in the courtyard but they only had a four tops available and refused to sit us there. Instead, they wanted to put us out front a a very small table with one chair in direct sunlight. There rearranged the table so it was mostly shaded but no longer socially distanced from the next table.
The service continued to be substandard throughout the brunch. The food was so so and way overpriced for the quality. Having worked for a French Oil company for 30 years, I can tell you this was a very poor example of a quality French Restaurant.
Incredible food and service! We can't wait to return!
Amazing little French cafe and bakery. Wide selection of dishes and would love to visit more than once just to try them. The salmon carpaccio was amazing, and the toast was distinctly flavored to complement the tartness. The Hash was a fine balance between the mashed potatoes and beef/onions with the nice sharpness of guerey cheese. The coffee was one of the best I've had. A fine strong edge with no acidic after taste and would go well with any of the excellent pastries in the cooler. Atmosphere was quiet and relaxing and the staff was knowledgeable and spot on in their timing along with welcoming, cheerful demeanors. While this would be one of my go to places if I lived in Santa Fe it would not be often, since it is a bit pricy.....but the excellent food experience was definitely worth the $60 tab.
Good wine of wine and the chicken marsala was amazing
the food was beyond excellent. the service was decent, right up until the check was presented and the waiter made a snide and inappropriate comment about my mom being my "sugar momma." we were both offended and put off by his sarcastic and inappropriate comment. we still tipped 20% but I was very tempted to flat out stiff him bc of that. it left a bad taste in each of our mouths after what was an otherwise fantastic dinner.
edit: despite posting this review here, and yelp, and someplace else, I never heard from the owner with anyway of apology. so I have downgraded my review from a 4 to 1 because it is clear that service is just not something they care about.
I love this place. It was a great happenstance and one I will return to.
Thank you, Cafe Mamou for a wonderful breakfast!
What a lovely place for dinner with grrr friends. Cheery, not too noisy, good food, great staff.
My husband and I found this little gem in the fall of 2018, and we just keep coming back. Breakfast/Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, doesn t matter, we keep coming back for more. Might I recommend the Croque Madame at Brunch or the Rack of Lamb at dinner, you will be quite happy with either. Our daughter loves the Duck Confit on either the salad or over noodles. It is a romantic restaurant in the evening, where you will enjoy music with your meal. You should make reservations for any time of day. I almost forgot, the lemon tart! Yes, please!
Slow, unprofessional, and rude. After 45 minutes, our table of 6 was served three plates of food, one of which we had not ordered. Ten minutes later, a table that had walked in 30 minutes after us was served. When we questioned the servers, they offered us neither aplologies nor solutions. According to one of the two of us who had received his food, his crepe tasted a little better than mediocre but certainly was not worth the wait. We ended up leaving.
