Located on quaint Commerce Street between Barrow and Bedford Streets in the West Village this off Broadway theatre is magical. It's tiny so it's really intimate, the ambiance is great and you're sitting that close that you feel that you're part of the performance. The staff is also great, most welcoming and very friendly. The Cherry Lane Theatre is a must visit. Highly recommended.

Let me begin by saying that this review is going to be very biased.
I'm going to rant a little due to the circumstances which encouraged me to go to the location, and I have no formal theatrical review experience. This entire writing is simply from my heart. Here we go!

Upon reaching Cherry Lane Theatre, my first thought was "It's very small" however my reason for being there was BIG.
The only time I've gone to a play was either due to being in it myself, or going for someone else. So let me establish the background first.

1. I'm a die hard Overwatch fan. For those of you reading who have no clue what that is, the internet is your friend.
2. Lucie Pohl was performing. She is very closely associated with reason 1; and is the reason I went to the theatre.

The establishment is located on an end street but in a comfortably friendly area of Manhattan.

The theatre itself on the inside is comprised of two parts. The first is a decent and cozy sized waiting area. The theatre itself is tiny, off-Broadway appropriate with about 20-30 seats maybe. These are simple steel frame, cushioned throw chairs. However this enables a production to get very intimate with its audience.

So I digressed. I play Overwatch and Main (frequently play) Mercy. Lucie Pohl is the voice actress for Mercy. Get where I'm going?
Anyway the stage was set up for the production and Anjali Bhimani (voice actress for Symmetra in aforementioned game) is also in attendance. The night was off to a wonderful start.

After a brief introduction to the wonderful actress, (I am terribly shy when it comes to meeting people I look up to) we are set to watch Lucie Pohl perform.

For a solo woman act that lasts over an hour, there was never a point where I felt I needed to stretch and get comfortable or feel bored. Every second of Pohl's performance was captivating. The house did a fantastic job of lighting, music cues and sound.
Pohl herself was able to keep you smiling the entire time, bringing small but welcomed interaction with us and having a great time with her storytelling show. Her many voices, character interactions including ups and down within her timeline enticed you to know the next detail. And hard won tense moments were broken beautifully by comically curveballs.
There were few times that you didn't think you knew the next task or occurrence which was important for me because I tend to pick apart movies instantly and know what's going on. Pohl was easily able to keep that curiosity going the entire time. Seriously, If you can see her show at some point... Do IT!
All in all I can justify my feelings of empowerment in the arts through Pohl's actions. Finding myself smiling after the show led to a brief and emphatically friendly photo op that caused me to spontaneously have a shirt signed (Thank You again Lucie for that!) and express my appreciation for both actresses in the short time they could gift to me.
While both of my idols had plans for the night afterwards, I found myself thinking of what to write for this review once I got home.
Honestly there is so much more I could say but unfortunately the review must stay somewhat focused on the location. However I can say that if Lucie Pohl does perform again at the Cherry Lane Theatre in the future, I am going to visit once more and enjoy the show again. in my vote, I put 5 stars. It really deserves 10/5 stars. Yes, that's 10 out of 5 stars.

If I can get a "Teleporter Online" so I can instantly get to the theatre next time, I'm 100% ready because this show's "Hero will never die!"

For reference, Pohl is on the left and Bhimani on the right in the group photo.

Tiny, intimate space which makes it easy to get immersed in the production but also makes it uncomfortable for long periods. The show we came to see was only about 80 minutes which made it bearable, so keep that in mind. Interesting programming. Located on a quaint little street in the West Village, and you can pick a number of great restaurants to visit before or after.

Cherry Lane has one typical older theater space & a new small but renovated space. The older space is not particularly comfortable but certainly better than the tiny seats of many Broadway houses.
The new space has good acoustics & provides an intimate space where seats can be placed on three sides of the performance area. Because the stages are so close to each other it's impossible to use the lounge while the second stage is in use.

Intimate, yet comfortable venue. I've attended at least a dozen performances here and enjoyed them all. Extremely difficult location to find though, so head out early to arrive on time for the performance.

Very friendly staff and a very comfortable theater. Primary Stages, whose home is Cherry Lane Theatre, does excellent productions of new work in this historic but recently renovated space.

Well kept off Broadway theater and black box studio. Consider this an opportunity to see shows off the main strip. Nestled in the heart of the West Village. See a show here and have a unique experience.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well the sound carried-- we were sitting in the row third from the back for the Colin Quinn show (right next to Jeff Ross!) and had no problem seeing/hearing him. Wish there could be more leg room though.

A jewel of a small theater with a lot of impact. I saw the Confession of Lily Dare. The writing, acting and staging were tremendous. It illustrated that an actor can portray any age or gender through their craft and we can believe. A classic Hollywood tale with campy delivery that still sincerely touched my heart.

It is a good, and intimate theatre. However the space is very limited. Which is good for those who likes to engage with the actors. The restroom is very small with only 2 stalls. The seats are comfortable, and the staff was friendly.

I wish we didnt have this pandemic that closed the theater. It is the best place to go where you can enjoy yourself. The actors are great and put on an awesome show. You couldn't ask for better staff. I wish they would open soon. I cant wait to go back. Everyone be safe.

I came here to watch Actually, We're F*****. The theater is cozy and small, but comfortable and I'm convinced there's not a bad seat in the house. The play itself was interesting; I would describe it as a drama with social issues touched upon in it. The actors and actresses were pretty good, and they have student rush tickets for the shows here! $22 total and they're sold an hour before curtain time. Not a bad theater, would recommend!

Cute little theater tucked into NYC's historic Greenwich village. I went to see Mike Birbiglia and thoroughly enjoyed the intimate setting. Staff was friendly and efficient.

Major points! - there was a water jug at the front with cups that you could refill to your heart's content. This is great in the summer heat, but even better to find in a theatre where common practice leaves you with $15 water bottles

Thanks Lane!
