The food was very good. Reminded me of when I lived in Mississippi. Staff was great and decor was good. Will come here often now that I have found it. Thanks for sharing your food Chef Dan!

Chef Dan's catered our outdoor wedding party. It was perfect!
Allison was very easy to work with putting together the menu and logistics. Price was reasonable. Food was great. Everyone at the event had nothing but good things to say.
I would use them again, and am looking forward to getting a chicken sandwich next time I see the truck.
If you're looking for a heapin' helpin' of comfort food, look no further! I have loved everything I've had from Chef Dan's: chicken sandwich, jumbo shrimp, brisket sandwich, mac & cheese, fries, mashed potatoes, jambalaya, and bread pudding.
Their chicken sandwich is the best in town. They take the time to pound the chicken so it covers the whole bun and the breading is outstanding. Speaking of breading: the shrimp is fantastic! I did not expect to get perfectly breaded, crispy, crunchy, shrimp out of a food truck.
Their mac & cheese is great. I am so tired of people raving about gloppy, greasy, grainy, mac & cheese. That is not what you'll find at Chef Dan's...I'm pretty sure it's half gooey cheese and half macaroni.
I don't normally get down with bread pudding; but, theirs is lovely. I like that it is baked in a shallow pan; so, it is not soggy like a lot of puddings I've tasted. The blend of spices and caramel sauce are incredible.
Lastly, you will not be judged if you want to get mac & cheese and mashed potatoes as your sides. Thank you, Allison, for enabling my consumption of delicious carbohydrates!
In full disclosure: I'm not a fan of spicy food and I haven't tried their catfish yet.
I've stopped by a few different times and every time I walk away, it's just meh.
As someone with no culinary knowledge of Cajun (beyond Yats which I love!) I get completely confused with the difference between jambalaya and gumbo etc. So far the waitresses have been friendly, but not very helpful with the differentiating discriptions.
I've tried the chicken and sausage jambalaya(?)- Eh, not too spicy, but not much going on either.
I've also tried the chicken strips- perfect amount of breading and very juicy chicken, the seasoning was a little overbearing and pulled away from the well cooked chicken but overall a good choice.
I've heard their beignets are delicious but with Wyliepalooza next door I can't resist.
I'm still open to trying a Po boy and seeing if the flavors will win me, but so far with the menu choices ranging between $10-15 there is nothing special bringing me back.
Dope food! Thank you for changing your hours!! Some of the best catfish I've had. Killer collard greens. This place kicks ass.
Man I love this place. I have yet to try something that I did not like. Their food truck is worth it, too. I used to hate coleslaw but Chef Dan's coleslaw has changed my mind. Their catering service is great. My company uses them frequently and it's always a delightful experience.
Updated review: We still love chef dans! It looks like they are updating/condensing their menu in the new year and both our favorite things aren't in the new menu. Bummer! But maybe an opportunity to try new things (and visit many times this month to get our fill).
The catfish dinner with red beans and rice and okra is so good. Two big pieces of catfish come with the dinner. Last night it was the special so we got an ice tea and a banana pudding-yum! The fried aura at chef dans is the best I've ever had anywhere, move over Cracker Barrel! The Cajun penne pasta is one of my favorite pasta dishes ever (this is big). It comes out cheesy, warm, and is awesome with the chicken.
Friendly and homey environment if you eat in, but costumers primarily carry out.
The caramel sauce on the bread pudding is amazing!!! Red Beans and Jambalaya is delicious as well. Poboys are all good and very filling!
The Mac & Cheese is Godlike. Also, I am a big fan of good fried catfish. Chef Dan has the best in the state. Southern Soul Food at its finest. It's priced reasonable. And if you can't get here, try hitting up the food truck!
Food is really good. Staff is very friendly!!! Highly recommend to anyone.
The first time I eat swampmeat "Alligator meat" I loved it. Chef Dan is a great experience of southern comfort food.
The food is real good. Best of would be red beans and rice, bread pudding and chicken pasta. Service us just Okay for such a small place.
Very clean cozy little place..The waitress was very soft spoken hard to hear what she was saying but the food was great..the type of food you eat that makes you want a nap afterwards lol
Great food!!! Great experience!!! I had Catfish, candied yams, collard greens and mac and cheese. I will definitely be back!!!!
Awesome food.... This place is amazing and affordable. Great people and friendly. This is a MUST visit place....
Fabulous! Never knew I liked Cajun food but this was amazing!! Well worth the money!
Unfortunately, Chef Dans has a sign on the front door that claims it is closed indefinitely. :(
Great food, great prices!! I will definitely be back when I have my Cajun tongue! The chicken Cajun pasta is to die for!! Best I have ever had! Nice atmosphere to dine in. Customer service is A1. Only reason for 4 stars is was a bit spicy for my tastes...maybe that is the true Cajun experience!
So I'm in Down Town Indy and there's a Chef Dan's food truck there at the Field House for the championship game tonight Tuesday April 5th. I decide to get some food and go for the seafood platter. I then choose the peach cobbler for some dessert. They informed me that they don't have any peach cobbler so no big deal (just an idea, take off your menu what you don't have). I get talked into some banana pudding which actual does sound good. So they called my name and I get my bag and head home. So what did I not do that apparently you should always do when getting food from Chef Dan's? I should have checked the bag. Yep folks, they forgot the pudding. So instead of my tip being three dollars it turns out I tipped them seven and for a $14 seafood platter which is a 50% tip. Sorry Chef Dan, your foods pretty good but not 50% tip good. So for all of out there that think that getting what you pay for is an automatic thing and that serving food isn't a NASA project so it shouldn't be that difficult think again. Yes, there people out there that are either too stupid or don't care enough to get two items into a bag. So, to recap - Chef Dan - pay attention and don't inadvertently steal from people. Customers - always (and I mean always) check your bag no matter how put off customer service is.
The food was authentic and very good. The Staff and owner are friendly and welcoming. I cannot wait till they start serving beer and wine. I will be back regularly then.
Great food! Good customer service, too. I received a free banana pudding for my baby son. I love this place.
I've eaten here on numerous occasions and the food is fabulous. Sad that they took the sweet potato pecan pie off the menu.
Customer service tonight with the co-owner helping my husband and I carry food to the truck, was outstanding.
I really wanted to enjoy this place. After planning to come for quite some time I finally made it. I ordered the shrimp Cajun pasta and the chicken tenders and fries for my son. The pasta was not good at all and luckily I never give my son food without checking it first. The chicken was literally RAW inside to my horror!! Needless to say I won't be back.
Don't know jumbo shrimp from regular shrimp and don't know fried corn from cream style corn 6 shrimp 13.00 not worth it at all
The chicken tenders are the best n the Mac m cheese
I would give less but can't. $35 for a bunch of breaded food I could have bought at Walmart for $5. The jambalaya tasted like it was out of a box and cold and was seasoned with the same seasoning that was on my fries. The only good thing was the coleslaw but that wssn't worth the money spent. I will never eat there again.
Was told by my waitress that she only gets cash tips due to only being paid 3 dollars and hour. Then walk to the counter to pay my bill and the cashier turns her iPad around for me to indicate how much of a tip I wanted to leave on my debit card? A bit skeptical? I advised the CASH tip on the table! The waitress even indicated she really was not suppose to tell us that she can only have cash tips and that we couldn't put tip on debit or credit card? I would rather spend my money elsewhere and the chicken and sausage jambalaya was dry and not edible.
Okay price. Food was pretty good. A little chilly are first but they turned the heat up for us. Friendly service.
Drove down on a Monday, they were closed even though it says on their website, Facebook page (and on their door) that they're open. It even let me place AND PAY for my food order online
Best collard greens ever!! Everything is homemade from scratch and you can taste the love!! Flame!!!!
You would think that southern food means good mac n cheese, big mistake on my part. The mac n cheese was COLD and BLAND and my southern fried chicken sandwich was just okay, rather small piece of chicken for the bun served. The fries were soggy and cold. Was excited to try this place tonight but was left with disappointment.
