The biggest winery in lebanon. The oldest. And its really good. Guides are professionals, and friendly. We first watch a documentary - walk through the roman caves - and then wine tasting. My favorite wine is the sweet wine.

Ive been there many times and it was great. The thing is whenever they have alot of people coming they only show you one quarter of the tour in addition to serving really bad wine so either set a limit or put rules like reservation is needed so you know how to organize the visitors. What makes it worse is that i was showing my american friends this place and i was like this is the pride of Lebanese wine and it was terrible.

If it comes to wine tasting ,this unique experience here ,definitely 5 stars
but 4 stars for the vineyards surrounding the winery ... they didn't get big land here to show as in the other wineries.
But again Ksara wine-Zahle- Lebanon is one of the best hidden treasure of wine in this world that has not yet been well known by people worldwide , maybe due to the limited quantity exported.
Expensive things aren't placed on the street , you should look for them .
Some wine Experts compare Kasara Wine as French Bordeaux Wine and I agree .it is rich, full of flavor and very pleasant .
I would say Their wine is absolutely one of the most tasty wine I ever had and not that expensive .

Cheers .

Nice place...tour of the caves is for 15 minutes. It is free. If you want to taste wine then you need to pay...3 different packages available. We had lunch in the cafetaria after the tour. Pasta is not on the menu...but it is nice. Wine is also very good quality. Overall...worth a visit when in lebanon.

An interesting place to see and understand how wine is developed in Lebanon.
It was in 1857 that the Jesuit fathers settled in Ksara, a terroir of about twenty hectares of plantation, where they cultivate vines and produce mass wines, as well as a red wine for their own consumption. .
Throughout the years they have worked and developed this area and today we are facing wine experts.

Disappointed in the tasting. It was significantly rushed. Plus, we wanted to do both the free and premium tasting, so we paid the $10 for the premium. However, we were only served the premium tasting and then the person pouring rushed downstairs and we never got the free tasting. We expected to have tastings of the lesser expensive wine interspersed with the premium wines. :(

Great tour with Rola. The caves are very impressive. The wine is ok. I paid for the premium tasting but it was only two additional wines - not really worth $10 extra. The tour itself is free and well worth doing for the caves alone.

Chateau Ksara, the country's oldest winery, founded in 1857 by Jesuit Fathers. In August 1973, sold to a consortium of Lebanese businessmen Chateau Ksara's motto is "Modernity in Tradition". It is an idea that captures perfectly our position as Lebanon's oldest winery and the pioneering spirit that has kept Chateau Ksara at the forefront of Lebanon's wine industry, for over 156 years. Today's wine drinkers are both informed and discerning, and therefore we are committed to producing quality wines - varietals and blends made from our 25 local and international varieties - that will satisfy all palates and suit all occasions. Not only are our wines made to the most exacting standards with state of the art equipment, they also reflect the terroir of the Lebanon's historic Bekaa Valley, an area that has been making wine for over 2,000 years. It is a legacy that we respect with every bottle we make. Brand values The name of Chateau Ksara has become associated with the three core values: tradition, nobility and modernity. These are emphasized through name and lineage (tradition); through a high-quality product (nobility) and the tremendous innovative advances made since 1991 (modernity). Visit one of the world's most beautiful Wine Cellars 7 days per week from 9a.m till 6 p.m

I m not sure what was more impressive - the collection of amazing wines in the labyrinth of tunnels below the winery OR how drunk we got during a tasting! Amazing history as the tunnels have been used for centuries and for different purposes. Super friendly staff and great show room to take a few bottles home with you

Professional, Friendly and such an nice escape. Where you will be invited to watch a movie about how it all started back in 1857.. escorted through an underground tour in the big historical cave of Ksara, after doing the wine tasting while having the opportunity to enjoy a fine and delicious meal from their French cuisine restaurant.

The cellars are absolutely worth visiting. The guides are extremely professional and knowledgeable about their subject; we were guided by TIA, in addition to being a very pretty young woman, she was very competent. Only downside, the end of visit tasting only concerns the whole coming ... The Grands Crus remain hidden.

Organized viewing of the film (English, French, Arabic) about the creation of a winery, then an excursion to the cave where wine is stored and wine tasting, about 6 varieties and the arak bonus - when there was one, a year later was part of the group - only three tastes were tasted of wine. The tour is even for one visitor. There is also a store where you can buy their products (prices are cheaper than in duty free at the airport). Around the building of the planting of grapes

Wine tasting experience was extremely bad. It felt very rushed up and we didn't even get to see the caves where they keep the barrels. The people who served the wine seemed completely unfit for the job; what they told us about the wine was coming from a few memorized lines. Won't be visiting again

My visit was at the end of a day trip to the Beqaa Valley (Anjar + Baalbek). The place has nice a character and the wines are unique tasting. My favorite was the red Reserve du Couvent. Wines are relatively young and have a bite to them. Like I said, it's a nice place to a full day of temple tours.

A beautiful place and nice tour. The tour starts with a short documentary about the history, and then a guide will walk you around the place and caves explaining everything you should know. At the end there is wine tasting. The tour is for free but the wine tasting is not it depends on which selection of wine you would like to taste.

Chateau Ksara one of the best wineries in Lebanon. The wine cellar is carved in the rocks and it is made up of tunnels with a mild temperature all year around. Wine tasting sessions and tours are organized daily. The wine selection from different types of grapes is amazing. Once in the Bekaa region do not miss it.

Winery with an incredible, historic cave system as their cellar. We've all done wine tastings and tours before; what's sets this place apart is the roughly 2 kilometers of underground caves that they use to store and age the wine. The how-to explanation of wine making is a forgettable video recording, but the walk through the caves makes it all worth it. Caves are naturally occurring, but not discovered/used for wine until 1857. Caves are handicapped accessible, flat but not level floors (somewhat steep slopes, in a few places). You'll walk maybe a few hundred meters through them. The wine, while good, and the wine tasting experience itself are pleasant...and more or less like any other winery you've visited.

About Chateau Ksara

Chateau Ksara: A Legacy of Fine Wines and Rich History

Chateau Ksara is a renowned winery located in the heart of Lebanon's Bekaa Valley. The winery has a rich history that dates back to the mid-19th century when Jesuit monks inherited and began farming a 25-hectare plot of land situated between Tanail and Zahle. Over time, the monks expanded their vineyards, experimenting with different grape varieties and production techniques to create some of the finest wines in Lebanon.

Today, Chateau Ksara is one of Lebanon's most celebrated wineries, producing over 2 million bottles annually. The winery's success can be attributed to its commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability. Chateau Ksara uses only the finest grapes from its own vineyards or those sourced from local farmers who share their values.

The Winemaking Process at Chateau Ksara

At Chateau Ksara, every bottle of wine is crafted with care using traditional methods combined with modern technology. The grapes are handpicked at optimal ripeness before being sorted by hand to ensure only the best fruit makes it into each bottle.

The red wines are fermented in stainless steel tanks before being aged in oak barrels for up to 24 months. This process imparts complex flavors and aromas that make each wine unique. The white wines are fermented at low temperatures to preserve their delicate flavors before being bottled young for maximum freshness.

Chateau Ksara produces a wide range of wines that cater to different tastes and occasions. Their flagship wine is the Reserve du Couvent Red Blend which has won numerous awards for its rich flavor profile consisting of blackcurrant, cherry, vanilla notes with hints of spice on the finish.

Other popular wines include:

- Blanc de Blanc - A crisp white wine made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes
- Le Prieure - A full-bodied red blend made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot & Petit Verdot
- Sunset Rose - A refreshing rose made from Grenache & Tempranillo grapes

Sustainability Practices at Chateau Ksara

At Chateau Ksara sustainability is not just an afterthought but an integral part of their business model. They have implemented several practices aimed at reducing their carbon footprint while preserving natural resources such as water.

Some notable initiatives include:

- Solar Panels: In 2016 they installed solar panels on their roof which generate enough electricity to power all operations during daylight hours.
- Water Conservation: They have implemented drip irrigation systems which use less water than traditional methods while still providing adequate hydration for vines.
- Recycling: All waste generated during production including grape skins & stems are recycled into compost or animal feed.

Visiting Château KSARA

Visitors can experience firsthand what makes this winery so special by taking a tour through its vineyards followed by a tasting session where they can sample some award-winning vintages paired with local cheeses or charcuterie boards.
