Wonderful wine tasting! Very well sanitized and well run!
The wine tasting was great and the discount for the bottles after makes it worth it
Good experience would recommend when in the area. $3 and $5 tastings very reasonable.
My favorite winery. The spiced cherry and their double gold cherry port were delicious. Brought a bottle home for 6 bucks. Ken was a fantastic bartender and host.
One of my favorite wineries. Tastings were delicious and the prices reasonable for wine.
The wines are pretty good!!! Only reason I haven't been here before is their wine is mass produced and I can get it downstate.....now that I've actually tried it I will probably get some down there!!!! A great stop if you're on the peninsula!!!!
Great value at only $5 for a tasting and the wines were really good. The staff was also great!
We had a great time sampling the wine. John was very informative about the different wines we selected to try.
They had more reds than usual this year on hand as the crop was better than previous years.
The Tankhaus was amazing! So warm and cozy. And it even had WI-FI. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. And the breakfast in bed was a real plus. I loved the Riesling pancakes. And the service was the best, thanks to our wonderful servers Curtis and Meghan. Thanks Chateau Grand Traverse. We will definitely return for another weekend stay at The Tankhaus.

Out of the 5 winery today this was the least friendly & least informative. Overall cold atmosphere.
Beautiful B & B, loved the location, our gorgeous room, and the winery itself. The breakfasts were fantastic, the service was ideal, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful rooms with a lovely view, loved the common ares and the hospitality.
Beautiful atmosphere a decent selection of wines with a long wait for food and wines. Wirth a stop of you go early enough to avoid crowds go before 1pm. Service is good.
The tasting experience was great fun. We bought a case of mixed wine for the holidays.
Absolutely love their late harvest riesling, so tasty.
Big selection but nothing special. Good wine for a group.
We've been going here for years, and even stayed in the B&B. Top notch all around. Love their Late Harvest Riesling. Great quality without the pretentious feel of other OMP wineries. Get a case and enjoy the 15% discount!
The best view of our wine tour. I got a flight of all the cherry stuff. Liked them all! Charcuterie plate was wonderful. Kris and Taylor were awesome.
In a world where we were treated like we had the plague at most of the wineries we visited in TC (thank you, Covid), it was SO refreshing to experience a tasting at Chateau Grand Traverse! The wines were fantastic and the servers were all professional, fun, and kind! They and we followed all guidelines, and they were still able to make it an excellent experience for us! Thank you, Savannah and team! You were awesome! We can t wait to come back!
Excellent wine selection (especially for a Riesling lover like my wife and I)! The server said they produce over 18% of all Michigan's Riesling. Very nice service and exceptionally proceed wines. I see why they are the biggest producing winery in northern Michigan.
Loved it. Already making plans to come back for a longer stay!!
The staff, service, wines and prices are the best in the area. I've been to 5-6 wineries and this is by far the favorite. A must go.
One word: Pretentious. Our wine tasting girl was really cute, kind, and knowledgable. But the atmosphere was stuck up. Even in OFF season with hardly anyone there. My husband said... "Advice to managers: Stop acting like everyone who walks in the door should be a millionaire." Very sad as we were expecting a way better experience. The wine and atmosphere is better at Black Star Farms
Amazing experience! Highly recommend for your next get away. Friendly staff, sweet views and good food.
A great place to taste and buy VERY good wines. Serving bar was clean and staff was knowledgeable of the wines they served. Prices were perfect.
Easily our favorite experience during our entire weekend stay.

My wife and I went wine tasting with another couple. We visited ten vineyards total during our weekend stay in the area. We are amateur wine tasters in every sense.
THE GOOD:
Very affordable and fun tasting options. Staff was friendly and generous with their pours. The owner hung-out with us at the bar and talked about wine, history, and romance. Wine options were extensive and tasted great! Fun, unique wine offerings. Bought two bottles at very affordable prices, especially compared to the rest of the peninsula.
Clean, put together bathrooms.
THE BAD:
Average views. Not a lot of seating.
Too small. People on busses think they are entitled to cut everyone in line. Not a good system. Staff should concern themselves with everyone's experience, not just large groups
Mady was super knowledgeable and fun to talk with! We had a great time. Will be back tomorrow for Romancing the Riesling!
My only complaint is that the walls are way too thin. We had good neighbors, but it would have been a nightmare if we didn't. Everything else was spectacular.
Went there for a wineery visit. It is the most educational and knowledgeable. The process of making wine was explained by staff and they were so friendly. Had 6 kinds of beer tasting. I recommend visit this place if you are in Traverse city.
Excellent place, very beautiful atmosphere! Great staff! We will be going back!
Spiced cherry wine and double gold cherry wine sound AMAZING! Can I ORDER ONLINE
Dawn
I loved their variety of cherry wine, but not the wait getting it. I purchased their sweet water, which was amazing. Their Grand Traverse late harvest was phenomenal as well for anyone who loves sweet whites. Didn't have any great views but I played in their grapes. Would return for their cheap prices! $3 for 5 tastings, $5 includes their reserve wine options.
While traveling through the area for the first time my wife and I stopped in for some wine tasting as we were driving up the peninsula. Brayden was very pleasant and knowledgeable of the winery and helped guide us through the extensive wine offerings. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Chateau Grand Traverse and look forward to returning.
Beautiful winery, even on a rainy day. Have a nice patio area that is covered and protected in the rain. Very nice set up for COVID safety, but we went early and they weren't very busy. Our pourer was very kind and knowledgeable. Seems like one of the few places you can still do a tasting. And their prices vary so you can choose something affordable or pricey. Really enjoyed our time here.
We went to several different wineries in the peninsula and I vote this winery to be the best and here's why:
1) Very affordable - for $5 you get to taste five different wines and, thanks to COVID, you get to keep your wine glass as a souvenir. Not only that the tasting is affordable but the wines themselves are very tasty and affordable. Don't you hate it when you do a tasting and the great wines that you'd like to bring home cost >$50/bottle? Not with this place! I tried their low to high end and everything in between and I was just as satisfied with the low $13/bottle wine than I did the $30/bottle. So yes, you can bring a few bottles home for yourself and even gift some of their nicer wines without breaking the bank. Also great discount on bulk purchases or if you're in the military :)
2) Location location location! Just outside of the property is a great lookout spot so ready your cameras. Also, when it's not freezing outside, you can walk around the property with a great view.
3) COVID-conscious. This is the best COVID-safety practicing winery that we went to. With that, there's a tradeoff where they don't take reservations for tasting and there may be longer lines as they only allow <6 groups (3 for tasting while the other 3 waiting) with <4 people/group so go there early as there was a line even before their doors open.
All of their staff was knowledgeable with their wines and very hospitable.
My personal recommendations? Any one of their Riesling (I am typically a full-bodied red wine person but theirs are just nice and tasty), cab reserve, cherry port and the Etcetera family.
Great wine, great staff, great experience. Also, the shop is dangerous. Way too easy to buy every wine you love.
Fantastic pricing, amazing wine, and friendly, informative staff. Well worth my time spent there.
We did a sampling and the tour of the winery. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and involved our children with a very detailed learning experience of how wine is made and processed. The spiced cherry was our favourite!
Love everything about this place. Always have. Brought my husband here for our honeymoon this weekend. Wonderful wine friendly staff and a lovely environment.
The staff was very friendly and they had a large selection. We purchased two tasting packages because there were so many to choose from. There is a beautiful back patio off the tasting room- perfect to enjoy a glass of wine on a warm day. My boyfriend recommends the Cherry Spiced wine- ask them to warm it up. It tastes like Christmas!
CGT adapted well to the distancing rules with efficient lines while still maintaining a fun environment. Brayden was very helpful with tastings and overall knowledge of the menu. I was pleased with the experience and am very excited to go back!
I like the new tasting room, and the whole cluster riesling.
Amazing tasting experience!
Jacob was super friendly and knowledgeable. Our favorite wines out off all the vineyards we visited in the area. Bought a lot of wine this time will definitely be back for more!
Highly recommend!
The service was amazing, ALL the wines were exceptional and had multiple that have won awards! They offer $3 off a wine purchase if you do a tasting and they also offer WOMP and Vintage Wine Club discounts! Highly recommend!!
Had a great time on the patio and enjoyed our wine flights. Beautiful scenery!
Their wines are so delicious and the staff is the most knowledgable that we've met up here! They had a lot to choose from and offered 6 samples for free. Pay the $2 to try Botrytis Riesling!!! This has been my favorite winery so far.
It's a fun place, my wife and sister love going there for wine Wednesday, I've been there for an event, and the setting is nice, the staff are friendly. Overall a very pleasant experience.
The wait was long due to COVID but other than that it was great! They are allowing 3 groups at a time to the bar for tastings. No more than 4 per group but if you have a big group you can split up. It s $5 for 5 tastings and you get to keep the glass. The staff was awesome and very knowledgeable. They have a little gift shop and the way you find and buy wines was very organized. I loved the merlots that had a coffee taste and the sangria. I also loved the wine that they say is like Christmas in a bottle . I can t remember the name. Over all it was a very pleasant experience with beautiful views!
Stopped in and sampled their wine. Bought a beautiful wine glass & 6 bottles of wine total, because even my husband liked them! Score!
I purchased the cherry wine which has a plastic "cork" which I first had to pick some of the top off and then my husband finally got it opened with a corkscrew. The wine itself is not fruity like Blue Nun or Boone's Farm but doesn't take like cherries either. Would definitely not purchase from this winery again mostly due to the fake "cork". Also, it smells unpleasant. I poured it down the drain. My husband said it smelled like vinegar.
My rating is about the vineyard since I don't drink wine. The store has many options of souvenirs, but I missed grape juice for selling. It would be amazing to find it there.
Friendly staff, great wine, NOT over priced, beautiful views!
Prices on wine are great. Neat gift shop and patio to sit on. I come here every year and it s a reliably nice time.
Neat they re branching into cold brew coffee - they also have reasonable price rooms to stay.
This place has a very sophisticated ambiance. Everything about it was very meticulous and clean. The wine tasting was the best that we had in Traverse City. The cherry wines were especially unique and noteworthy. We also took a guided tour of the vineyards and winery, which were amazing. The guide was very patient with all of our questions and really took the time to explain and elaborate on everything that he could.
Good wine but check out another story. They shipped our wine via usps ground. It is all been over heated and no good. Don t ship!
Clean professional staff and atmosphere. Large winery ran well. The wines are good, consistent and inexpensive relive to the good quality. Wines tend to lean toward the sweet side is if that is your jam this is your place.
A more touristy winery with wonderful views but less quality service. If you come in during a busy hour you get lined up to wait for bar counter style service and the sommeliers seen less likely to give you a quality experience.
All they are worried about is getting their$5.00 fee. The tasting staff was attentive to everyone around us. If you need to cleanse your palet, you are directed to the drinking fountain ( a sign of pitching pennies). Never noticed that being a problem with other wineries. All in all very poor service. not impressed at all. Will not be back.
During a 22 person family reunion, our shuttle service gave Chateau Grand Traverse several weeks notice that we would be coming for a tasting and the precise time. Upon arrival, however, they had done nothing different to prepare and we therefore had too long of a wait for tastings to fit with our 45-50 minutes allotted to stop there. They were curt and their attitudes implied that the problem was our faulty expectations versus their poor planning and customer service.
In sum, we would have much preferred to stay at large group friendly locations like Bower's Harbor or Chateau Chantal!
Love it! I vs
I visit every time I'm in the area.
Steve was very rude and abrupt...ruined the whole birthday experience and vibe.
Wine was nice, staff not so much. We had a flight of wine on the patio which costs more than the tasting. Apparently there is a coupon that is only avaliable to those who go through the tasting experience. We asked if they served food and an abrupt NO was given, even though they have a small offering of light fare.
Great quality wines at very good prices. One of the top wineries around Traverse City, and our favorite on the OMP. The 2018 Whole Cluster Riesling is A+. We only purchased 3, and should have left with a case. Highly recommend.
I've enjoyed their wine and their suites are amazing.
Oui oui. Good wine. Coupons with tastings. Nice deck.
Sat on back patio and had dry reisling. It was excellent along with a charcuterie plate
Max was so nice and helpful and had great customer service!! Easy safe procedures to have a glass of wine and sit on the patio. Went to Chantel Chateau right before and procedures were too complicated and no other customers were there for us to have to wait.
We are wine enthusiasts who have been tasting wine throughout Michigan. This is one of our favorite (if not THE favorite) wineries so far! All wines we ve tasted were balanced, complex, expressive and of amazing value! They have a big menu that won lots of awards and we really liked their gamey noir and silhouette (red blend with some of the less known grape varietals). Pinot noir is also quite good too. We are definitely going to come back! Hope we can meet the owner next time for a vlog! Shout out to Max for fun and awesome service!
