Charlie Palmers is much OVERRATED at best.
The surroundings were nice, but we ordered drinks and it took over twenty minutes to get them.
I ordered a vodka/tonic and the tonic as flat because they didn't use a fresh bottle of tonic, but rather from a container in the bar area.
The filet was good, but the dessert was horrible. I ordered ice cream and it was crystalized and the vanilla didn't even taste like vanilla.
In general....... way OVERPRICED for what you you get. I will never go again.

Best waitress ever! Her name is Jennifer !! She was so efficient and attentive I would recommend going and asking for her ..she Answered all of my questions on the menu sometime we go places and the waitress or waiter won't know anything about the menu , i had the brisket tacos they we ok the lemonade was refreshing and fun too look at!
I am slowly making my way through the steak houses in Reno. This wasn't my first trip to Charlie Palmer's, actually I believe it was my 4th.
The food is always amazing. It really is. I recommend the CP signature salad, twice baked potato, mac n cheese, and the peanut butter bar. No matter how little room there may be left in my tummy, I will always find room for a few bites of that peanut butter bar!
The service is, sadly, hit or miss. Last night we were double teamed (get your mind out of the gutter) and neither gentleman was very polished. Had it not been for the food they would have received 3 stars. The bar is also somewhat lacking. I ordered an Irish coffee and was brought a cup of coffee, a shot glass with Bailey's, and a container of fresh whipped cream. Bonus points for the fresh whipped cream but they are immediately stripped away by the fact that they cannot make a traditional Irish Coffee.
Overall Charlie Palmer's is definitely worth going to for the yummies and the ambiance. Although I wouldn't sit directly underneath that big metal pointy sculpture that hangs from the ceiling...
Not good enough for the price. I have been here a few times. The steak has always been nice and tender lacking a bit in flavor though. We went here on our 20th anniversary and were practically ignored by our waitress AFTER we ordered. My husband and I felt like we were ignored because we didn't order enough side dishes.
Amazing food and amazing service! Everything was great! I had Waygu Ribeye and it was best steak I have ever had.
The food was incredible. One of the best meals I've had in a long time. The service was 5 star. There were 5 of us and we all enjoyed everything we got from appetizers to wine to food. It is differently a bucket list destination.
Absolutely wonderful. Loren is a fantastic server. Very nice Atmosphere. Steaks were cooked to perfection and so very tasty! Everything we ordered was great: scallop appetizer, side dishes and cheesecake. CP Steak bakes daily fresh bread as the opener to the meal and it's incredible. Thank you for the complimentary birthday chocolae mousse cream puff. Five Stars for sure, we will be back.
Special night? This place is it. Fantastic meals. Pricey, but, you get what you pay for.
Great service. Freindly people. Clean trendy place. We sent two steaks back to the kitchen.
Good steaks for a casino, but not the best I've had
The aged rib eye was delicious. The desert was amazing.
Make sure to make a reservation if not you will have to wait and sit at the bar
Awesome dinner. One if the best. Great service with Brian. Perfect combination of service and conversation. The surf and turf was cooked to perfection. The Alaskan King Crab legs was fresh and brought us back to our trip to Alaska.
The food is good, although drastically overpriced. $25/glass for wine is a bit over the top. The steak was cooked perfectly - medium rare. But companion's filet was borderline raw on one end. The kitchen was slow to the point I was going to walk out. The food arrived just in time. It was close to 45 minutes from order to service. The wait staff is excellent.
Great food and ambience and an awesome $5.00 happy hour menu. #LocalGuides #OnGoogleMaps
The dry aged ribeye was amazing. Zero gristle, perfect marbling and cooked exactly as ordered. Peppercorn sauce nuanced and not excessively creamy.
Fantastic food, amazing services, all around awesome experience. A great place to go for a special occasion. They really know how to make you feel special.
I frequent Charlie Palmers every X-mas and have never been disappointed! If you're worried about price? This is not the place for you. My party consists of (8)-Eight people and they all rave about the food and service.
One of the few places in Reno that really knows what to do with a chateaubriand. Charlie Palmer does a great job with classic cuts and accompaniments for steaks. Expert chefs, excellent service, and lively atmosphere make it an excellent choice for a special occasion. The only downsides are a somewhat limited variety of cuts (justifiable in the interest of focusing on the best available locally), little or no Kobe (ditto) and not terribly good value for money even considering the top quality on offer. (Ironically, the chateaubriand is the best value for two or perhaps three diners.)
Good food, good service. Loved my Lamb, took some home
Excellent service and decor. Great steaks and chops. Good though skimpy steakhouse style sides. "Composed" dishes are very hit and miss.
A perfect experience! The food is amazing, the ambiance was romantic, the lighting was perfect.
It is the best steakhouse in Reno. Service is excellent. Everything is incredible.
I had a great experience with Charlie Palmer steak. We would go there whenever we are in town. Service is great and Server s are friendly. Steak are done perfectly and wine list is ample. Cocktails are yummy.
Their baked goods are nice to get at the end of the night.
For the price it wasn't even adequate. there's nothing legitimately high-end about this restaurant except the price.
Had two orders of filet and it was recieved dry for med , during hot august nights/ 2018 sat night 8 pm, slow service,
Outstanding!! Highly recommend!!
I shared my meal (picture provided).
Excellent service, delicious ribeye, apps and tasty butter cake.
Food and service was amazing Erin was awesome beyond amazing
Business dinner with five associates. Wonderful atmosphere for casual conversation. Terrific wine selection provided by knowledgeable staff who are very attentive. The steaks were delicious as were all the sides. I won't need to eat again for days.
Went here for my birthday dinner. It was not impressive to say the least. For almost a 200.00 bill it should've been ALLOT better. Definitely go to Atlantis steakhouse. And they have no steak diane! And they leave the fat on in bulk!!! Steak knives had hard time to get fat off. Waste of my money
Awesome service! Food was amazing! Definitely worth 10 stars!!! Server made great suggestions and was knowledgable about everything. Food was fresh. From appetizers to main course to desserts! Worth every dollar.
Every time I have dinned there it has been a meal and experience to remember. Hands down my favorite place to eat in Reno.
Food was delish, staff very friendly! The Pork belly appetizer wasnt my liking so they comp'd. Great service! Brian and Loren was fabulous!
Posted happy hour times on their site - bartender said it wasnt available and they don't do happy hour... she confirmed I was looking at their site and it had HH hours but they dont do one. She said she'd check with the manager but after I waited a while I gave up and went elsewhere..
Amazing food. Cooked perfectly everytime. Staff is so nice and always giving exceptional customer service.
Absolutely love Les Arlin he made our whole experience 5stars
They have very nice aparittizers as bread, and they steak is delicious. The sides are specially made for you and they try to make it their best. The 1 hour wait for the food is worth it in the end, so its confirming that you should go here for dinner if your having a stay at the grand Sierra. Dessert is rich, but luckily you can bring left overs unlike the buffet next door. If your staying here, or if you looking into it, this is the place for you to go.
10oz Filet Mignon with one of their incredible sauces and you can't go wrong! Service is wonderful and friendly! Don't miss a chance to experience this place!
The striped bass was Amazing!!! Ambiance ok. But the bass was perfect! I will be thinking of it for awhile.
It was... Meh. Such a contrast to the experience in Napa. As a Napa valley & wine insider I was thourghly disappointed in the bartending teams way off the mark description of the wines & go to recommendation for the usual suspects (opus) good grief. My filet was medium well (asked for rare-med). I wouldn't be so picky but for $100 plate cost without drinks I expect the same quality and more than meh. Not mediocrity. Should have gone to the sizzler.
My wife and I had a dozen oysters. She had the wedge salad to go with it. I had the ceasar salad. Everything was delicious. A really nice blond lady waited on us. She was great. Very polite and funny. We had such a good time and great meal that we went back the following night.
5 of us had Thanksgiving dinner today and all of us were very unhappy with the meal. How can you mess up a Turkey? Well GSR can? Sorry GSR you missed the mark on this dinner. Very disappointed. Four hundred dollars for dinner that was untasty and at the end of meal they give you a few cookies to take home. Never go back to Charlie Palmers again
Loved the experience and the food was amazing! I had the ages New York steak with chick peas. I had it medium. And it was actually medium!
Delicious PHO and noodles at a great price. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner. Great people working there. Got a to go order for staying at a nearby casino- a huge amount of food for less than $10. A must.
For the prices that Charlie Palmer charges we expected a bit more. The waiter acted as if he was ambivalent or distracted at times. After taking our order he came back about 5 minutes later and pulled or wine glasses from the table, even though we had told him we wanted wine earlier, but had not decided on a specific bottle.
He walked past our table multiple times when it was obvious we were finished with a course or needed bread, water or wine. If it hadn't been for the attentive bus boy we would have been sitting with empty plates or glasses for much longer and probably would have been late for our show.
We ordered 4 different sauces with our NY steaks and I have to say it was hands down the WORST peppercorn sauce I have ever eaten! It tasted as if the roux hadn't been simmered out, was over powered by cognac/brandy and had absolutely no pepper flavor. I searched the entire sauce can for pepper corns and found only 4.
In fairness the 3 other sauces were well prepared and flavorful.
The steaks were flavorful and perfectly cooked.
The reason I'm giving them 3 stars is not that the food wasn't 4 star quality, it's that it was way too expensive for what we received.
Prawn cocktail appetizer was a great starter. Had the Wagyu NY steak. A little disappointing as it wasn't as tender as I thought it might be. Potatoes Gratin was money as was the roasted root veggies.
I'm from the Napa Valley and was not disappointed here. Food, service, atmosphere all 5 stars.
Fantastic food and great service. You pay for both of those but islets well worth the cash
Never disappoints no matter what cut of steak you get.
However, was saddened they no longer carry the tomahawk steak cut.
Good service but food is disappointing and not worth the cost
Celebrating our wedding anniversary again at CP's is just the most!!!
The good was fantastic. Our waiter very nice and sociable. Best dinner out we've had.
Highly rated for good reason.. definitely worth it if you're looking for some goodness and a nice ambiance
Our go-to date night spot! Great steaks, delicious salads, and you HAVE to get the Butter Cake for dessert. It's out of this world! Service is always on point, especially if you have Kylie as your server.
We visited the Charlie Palmer's after staying in GSR for one night in early Sep.
We ordered the steak, and ribs with some sides and the food was really good. Slightly on the pricey side but worth it, and to be frank I didn't leave feeling like I needed any more.
However this restaurant gets it's good review because of the server, Angelina, who was... superb... and I really do mean 'superb'.
She was cheery, helpful, funny, dry (and quick) witted, and very attentive. She's a credit to the restaurant and the hotel and deserved every cent of the tip we left her.
I wonder if they could promote a server to hotel manager? - because my hotel experience definitely wasn't to the same level!
not worth the money, pretends to be a high-end Steakhouse, unfortunately serves mediocre food. Save your money go to Outback. For the kind of money you going to pay here you should expect a lot more
It is inconsistent, the ambiance is good but the service and food are hit and miss.
This was an over priced restaurant. We were a group of 6 and all of our meals were just ok. My steak was tough and tasteless. The oysters were ok. Our bill came to $385.00 and not worth more then 100.00. We will never come back!
Great food and service. Only exception is that pricing is very high comparable to other high end restaurants. I'd rather go to the other restaurant s that have better ambiance and are quiter compared to the casino entertainment
Awesome steak house you can't go wrong having dinner here .
Service is excellent, but the menu is limited and overpriced. There are much better steakhouses in Reno.
Food was great but not worth the price I'm sorry that is why I give it two stars I know of a few other steakhouses where the food is equally as good and I only have to pay half the price I did hear once again the food was delicious it was a nice place to try once
Prices are pretty incredible. I honestly don't know how they can manage to turn a profit with that high of quality ingredients and charging what they do. The burrito, for example, was only $4.50! BUT...the place was packed. They have a strong following and I'm sure the prices have something to do with it...and the food, of course.
ood food, reasonable prices and quick service. Even though it was a Saturday night and the tables were full, the short waiting line moved quickly. The server and cooking staff were fast and efficient. The is more of an Asian home-style restaurant, not fancy, but the food is good. It is across the street from Harrods and easy walking distance to the other casinos on Virginia Street as well.
Good food in a fine dining atmosphere. For the money, you have better options, but the convenience when you are staying at the GSR is great.
This is a definite must eat restaurant. Great service, great staff, excellent food.
FIRST of all what seemed to be the manager or VP was absolutely rude to us and wagering for money after bothering us! SECOND of all the steak was awful it was pink in the middle and they seemed to dump a gallon of salt on top of it. Now there is one reason I m not giving this one star it s because of the one waiter was nice But besides that it was very bad
