Having a nice stay at the Chancellor Hotel. The rooms are tidy and clean. We're happy to have selected a nice place in a central part of the city. My only complaint really is that the complimentary WiFi was hard to connect to and maintain a connection.

Great Hotel by the Union Square! The lobby could stand to be freshened up a little, but the bedroom and the bathroom are very clean and comfortable.
They give you toiletries comparable to the high end hotels and the staff is very friendly, unpretentious, helpful and accommodating.
I would definitely stay here again. It is incredibly well priced for what you get around the Union Square. It is hell lot better than the Marriot and the Hyatt close by (service and pricewise).

Maybe our new go-to when visiting the city. Great location, very good rate on Hotel Tonight, next door to Sears (breakfast!) Rooms are small, but bed is comfy and the bathroom is clean. Deep tub if that's your thing. We had no noise issues. Try it next time!

A good quality hotel in a great location. The room we had had lots of space, a good size bathroom, and a big storage room/wardrobe. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location, next to Union Square, is excellent. There are lots of shops and cafes/restaurant's nearby.

Good value for location. Rooms are small, but efficient. They have been upgraded since years back. Staff is friendly and efficient. Nice soaking tub, but walls are thin - you can clearly hear hallway conversations inside your room. Ultra convenient location.

Really lovely hotel. The rooms are not big but nice. Good bathroom. Really nice hotel bar. I would not stay here during the warm months as the rooms are not air conditioned. And... the WiFi was not (when I stayed) very stable. Super nice staff.

The double room is small, but the room is clean and the reception is polite. The location is very good. It is just next to Union Square. It is convenient to eat and eat nearby. It is only 8 minutes walk from China.

Chancellor Hotel is an amazing hotel, very clean and very friendly staff. Room is cozy with plenty of room for all three of us. Located very close to everything we wanted, especially Chinatown, walking everwhere was a breeze. We will absolutely stay here again next time we're in San Francisco.

We have stayed at the Chancellor twice, most recently this past May. We were completely satisfied each time, with the location, the amenities, the staff and even the parking situation. The rooms are, yes, small by contemporary standards, but for that very reason they are cozy and very comfortable. Large rooms contribute to the feeling that the guest is paying for unneeded extras. And the public areas made us feel comfortable. Thanks for everything.

During a trip to SF I had to take a red-eye, so I needed a place to keep my luggage while exploring. The Chancellor came to my rescue! It was right off the BART and perfectly positioned downtown to visit Chinatown and Union Square. After light sightseeing I was a quick rideahare away from Pier 39. Overall great location and the hotel itself had a great historical feel. I'm going to SF again and definitely taking a look at staying there.

I just stopped by to use the bathroom, but the attendant was very helpful and provided a key to unlock the bathroom door. I can only give 3 stars, since I feel bathrooms can only be rated as high as 3, but needless to say, i would use the bathroom there again.

Well impressed with the staff at this hotel. We had a problem with the room at 8pm and they offered to change the room immediately and have free breakfast the next day. At the reception there is always fruit, cookies and water, coffee, tea. In addition, the hotel offers parking at 23 / day.
The hotel is well located in the center, good for sightseeing and enjoying the nightlife.
In the bedrooms there is space and you can rest really well in their king size bed. Everything is done to feel good at home.

Cool and cozy rooms. Good sized fridge and amazing tub. There's a pillow menu that allows you to order specific fancy pillows for different sleep types. You can even order bath pillows for the massive tub and they supply salts for a good soak. Don't notice any ac but they give you multiple fans and allow the windows to open for a nice San Fran breeze. Would recommend.

Location was good. It was close to the shopping district and near public transportation for sightseeing. The rooms were decent. Clean, well kept, but small (like most hotels in the area). Service was outstanding. The hotel was very attentive. Bell hop bright our luggage to the room within 10 mins. I needed a pop-up bed for my toddler which arrived within 15 mins after I requested it from the front desk (again, biggest issue was space even without the pop-up bed).

Stayed here for the weekend for a conference at the Grand Hyatt. Great price, wonderful but casual ambience. The rooms are on the smaller side, but we got a very large closet and the location was awesome.

There's a bar downstairs and $20 breakfast buffet, which we didn't try.

Our room didn't have a nice view; we were on the 5th floor and could just see the top of Cheesecake Factory in Union Square! Haha

But there was a fridge to store our boba! Really, the location was perfect. You're a block from Union Square!

The location of this hotel is amazing. It's a 20-30 minute walk to Fisherman's Wharf and just off the corner of Union Square! The rooms are nice and spacious compared to a lot of other smaller hotels in San Francisco. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the city, whether it's your first time or tenth time!

What an amazing experience. The staff and management team were outstanding. Upon our arrival, we had an issue with the valet vendor, and the hotel management team bent over backwards to remedy the issue. They were even still inquiring with us to ensure that everything was great with our stay and if there was anything that they could do for us. We highly recommend the Magic/San Francisco history show that is performed in the lobby. The magician is a fabulous story teller. Don't miss it!

A bit noisy but great room, perfect location. Parking possibilities other than the hotel's should be considered. On 550 taylor st. you can find 18hr for 20$ with the hotel's stamp on the ticket.
Free coffee, cookies and fruit is always nice to start with.

This is not a chain hotel so don't come here if you like chainness. Personally I believe that lack of chainness brings enjoyable, unique character. Staff are professional, responsive and responsible. Stay on an upper floor. The neighborhood features musicians and the dinging of street cars. No air conditioning. Open the window to cool off, maybe this is a problem in summer. Nice touches like an umbrella for the rain and a candy bowl. Very reasonably priced. Close to high quality shopping and restaurants. Only a slight uphill walk from the BART, very convenient.

Nice, clean hotel with friendly staff.
Take the opportunity to have breakfast in the hotel as it will be more expensive to eat an equivalent breakfast out on the town.

Right now i am staying in this hotel. Made the reservation for 2 nights and my very first visit to San Francisco. Front desk staff were very welcoming and helpfull.
Room and the bathroom found very clean. No dust at all. Seperate closet room, refrigerator and iron also available in the room.
I could see half of square from my window at 11th floor. Coffee makers are not available in the room but Starbucks is just a hop away.
Hotel is located at the heart of union square ,where shopping is. Many restaurants, supermarkets are around the area.
I will definitely stay at this hotel once again and highly suggest to all visitors.

I'll definitely stay here again. Great location, warm atmosphere with friendly staff make it an enjoyable experience. Excellent breakfast with vegetarian options. Great views and wifi on the front of the hotel. Very quiet (but limited views and wifi) at the back. Access to and and pool, along with the complementary apples made my staff a pleasure. Thanks!

The bed is comfertable, location is great, concierge was helpful, coffee and cookies in the lobby were great. Only big problem is the shower - the worst I ever had with extremely low pressure.
Hotel parking is ok 32$ for 24h, if you can walk 2 blocks you have a cheaper alternative on sutter and stockton.

When I entered my room I noticed there were 2 twin beds. I travel all of the time for business and have never seen two twin beds in a hotel that cost over $200 per night. I then called guest services and was told that they were sold out so I had to stay in the room. The front desk attendant was extremely rude when she relayed the message to me and her response was in less than 3 seconds so I doubt she even checked. I then went downstairs and was told the same thing. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was dismissed and told nothing could be done because I booked on Hotel Tonight. Customer service is a direct reflection of how you feel about your job. That being said.... this has been the worse hotel experience I've had in the last 2 years and, I will not be staying here again. I also DO NOT recommend anyone staying here.

Room was clean and very nice; pillows are pretty flat for wide shoulders folks. Staff is very friendly. Ate breakfast here and omelet is very well portioned and a great price, better by upscale sf hotel standards, me normally used to southern prices and portions. Will def stay here again if I can.

Reasonable room and parking. Located easy access to most of city. Great for spending time in city. Stay somewhere else if you want a lot to do without going out. Our family had a great vacation staying here.

The location is unbeatable! The comfortable room The service was very attentive, they were always very aware of everything. Alicia's cocktailes at the bar were very good, only that the bar closes very early (10:00 p.m I think).

I stayed here last night. The staff was friendly, engaging and very accommodating. I wish I had asked their names so I could give them kudos. Room was small, but clean and fresh. Bathroom tile and fixtures reminded me of my grandmother's, so it felt inviting. Once the city calmed at night, it was nice and quiet. I would stay here again!

Great location and friendly staff! However I was not prepared for lack of Air Conditioning. I realize this is probably common for the region however next visit I will be sure to book a place with AC. Decor is charming and beds are comfortable.

Family owned boutique hotel, built on 1914, but kept reasonably updated to modern standards. Comfy beds with nice linens, a tight bathroom, but its S.F. Good value given the location. Would return.

The Chancellor has clean, nice but small, rooms in the heart of union square! For a value room, it was very pleasant, you're in San Francisco you don't need a big room, get out and see the city and this is a great location to do so from. The trolley cars pass right in front of the hotel and there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area. Overall very pleased and would stay there again next time
