Very poor service, charged my partner the full amount for a treatment she had after she cancelled it the day before. They said they would charge her 50 percent of the amount which they never stated before we had booked any treatments ( we had 5 whilst staying there) , and was still billed for the whole price. We were fobbed off by the reception , and given an email address which we have had no response whatsoever. The room was in a bad state as well, with the bath panels damaged and mouldy. We also waited along time to be served in the dining room, often never having the order we asked for. I m not one to complain but I felt very let down by the whole experience, and was expecting a really good service. Since the trip, I ve researched abit more about it, and can see trust pilot have champneys at 80% 1 star reviews, so please bear in mind before booking.

A great visit to the best spa I've been!!

A great visit to the best spa I've been!!
Great location and a beautiful setting.

The best massage I've had with staff who really know what they are doing too.

Well worth a visit for a getaway with a partner or friend, or even alone!

Plenty of nice jacuzzi style parts, steam and sauna room, a few nice relaxation rooms and more. Yes the spa facilities arent the most varied (compared to places like Woburn or Fairlawns) but it's still really nice, clean and the food is great!!

Really top of the range health retreat can't order unhealthy stuff even if you wanted to.

Grate massage areas and placed to just chill and relax.

But be warned there is no reception and no WiFi on purpose! They don't want people on phones.

Frequent visitor to this spa. Use my vitality discount and can t go wrong. I have only stayed in the ground floor rooms and in the main building and it s never disappointed.
Food is healthy but nutritious and the spa has everything you need.
Recommend using the quiet room with the water beds. Ultimate relaxation and no mobile phone reception!

Champneys went through a tricky phase a couple of years ago and I stopped going. They have now found their way again by vastly improving the surroundings and ambience. The only thing that is still disappointing is the lack of food choice for those with dairy intolerances, which is surprising for a health spa.

Very good. Overall very well rounded experience. Location is rural so great if you want to get away from the city. Food was good. Pain points were the trail, toilet flush and room lighting. Service was excellent.

Beautifully set in peaceful grounds located in an an AOAB. Champneys Tring is regarded as the best Champneys but in my opinion it just falls short of Champneys Forest Mere, due to Forest Meres larger size and more modern facilities.
Champneys Tring is a perfect escape, plenty of activities, world class treatments and the meals are fantastic. Breakfast and lunch are buffet style with a large selection of healthy food on offer. Evening meals are set menu with a choice of options. The room we stayed in was a garden view, I would recommend this as it is beautiful overlooking the gardens. Room was light and modern, comfortable bed and nice clean bathroom. We did find Champneys Tring at first hard to navigate, the pool and relaxation rooms are not easy to find due to signage but once discovered they are worth the effort.

September 2019 - I like Tring because of the beautiful flowers and good food. However, it's "tired" and I can't persuade my husband to join me for a "bring a friend for free 5 nights" because its "tired". The gym, compared to Virgin and David Lloyd is seriously 1990's. The jacuzzi etc is a bit murky at times.
Evening coffee is no longer (self service) served in the library, but in the cafe area, which then ruins the whole evening dining experience.
The "chill out" area (indoor, with the water beds) was unattended by staff and was messy looking (towels empty cups and scruffed up bedding, left by other guests but should have been tidied by staff) and we had to lay towels over the cracked (seriously unappealing) plastic covering. That was quite a disappointment - since I had excitedly told my friend (that I had travelled with) how relaxing the "chill out room" was.
Update jan 2020. I thought I'd give champneys Tring one more go. I booked a suite in the hope that the experience would be better.
Nothing has improved - it's got even worse and I really won't be back.

In Champney's workers, didn't wash dirty robes, they just dry it and serve the guests. Sheets are stinky and dirty, they don't even know what is going on in the rooms... I' completely disappointed...

Staff were not helpful and welcoming. For the price and brand didn't feel we got the experience we paid for.

On arrival, the desk staff didn't even smile. requested for gown size and he gave that wrong so had to go back to get the right size. We were advised that if they become damp and wanted a change they can do that but during the day when we went to do that, they said nothing was available.

Welcoming breakfast was okay but not a lot of choice. Milk and water in thermos was cold. Only one yougut type. Juice was warm.

Changing rooms not impressive. No champneys products in baths.no wow factor at all.

Building and interior shows signs of wear and tear not quality. Carpet and wall paper in the music room and enterance carpet with the champagne logo. Shower in relaxation room had mould on the grout and the shampoo holder was broken.

Relaxation rooms had same magazines no variety and once the beds were slept in they were not refreshed i.e. sheets pillows and blackets were left messy and wet so not appealing to sleep in.

Lunch was good.Fish pie excellent but no juice or tea coffee served with it unless you want to pay extra.

I had requested for a female masseuse but got a male and fo the pedicure they use tissues to separate toes not dividers which actually is not a pampering feeling and the process is not worth the value we paid.

The worst part of the day was when checking out sorting the bill the lady at the front desk Kaisa i think was her name wanted to charge us without asking or explaining gbp5 for a charity and gbp1 for gratitude. When further explanation requested she went through very fast and didn't apologise for adding without asking. She then didn't even help us with our requests for the vat bill saying call the number of reservation and get it from there, thing to note is she didn't give us the number and asked us to go as she had other people waiting.

I would definitely never go back. Customer service was awful and what you pay for isn't what you get.kind of put off the brand too.

Had a day pass for a Sunday - lovely grounds, excellent lunch buffet (lots of choice, good quality food that caters for GF, Vegan etc.), generally good service but they were understaffed so quite a lot of waiting around. Avoid weekends if possible, wasn't able to use certain spa areas as too busy etc. Plus a huge queue for lunch.

Not what it was. I used to be a member.. Now its all about the "Brand"...womens pampering ,potions, music for mermaids, raw salads etc. If you want to actually work out you had best stick to a local gym where the weights selection is better and the men's showers probably work too.

Absolutely horrendous! Champney is keeping our money hostage!!! My husband wanted to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary and booked a night at Champney Tring and treatments. Now with Covid we had our bookings cancelled by Champney. They absolutely refuse (even in this unprecedented time) to give us our money back. It s against their terms and conditions we ve been reminded. Now I m begrudgingly going to have to go and use up the voucher they ve given us instead of our money back for our wedding anniversary. I will never use Champney again nor will I recommend it, because even in a crisis they are all about themselves and not about their customer. So looking forward to time with them....NOT!!!!

Went for a day spa this week and must say the whole place is looking really tired and a bit grimmey. The outside jacuzzi door was broken; the outdoor jacuzzi was broken; the steam room was dirty; the relaxation room with fire- the fire wasn't on; the water beds looked tired and there were cracks in the leather which made it look uncared for; the showers in the ladies day change room were absolutely disgusting full of others hair on the floor and just filthy. The lunch was a very poor selection of tasteless food. The staff at the spa are lovely though.

Wanted to say thank you to everyone at champneys Tring what an amazing time we all had for my friends birthday. Fun, yet chilled out friendly atmosphere. And the place itself was so beautiful. Definitely 10 out of 10 would be recommending to all.

Food was relatively good value and quality, with a healthy bent. The rooms were rather early 90s in stlye and were frayed around the edges (eg. bath side as made of wood which was splintered and beginning to decay). Exposed surfaces only had been cleaned with large build ups of dust on top of the bed board, under the tables etc. Room service took 8 hours to deliver two bottles of water (required because the tap water had been aggressively treated with a water softener which had a distinct taste). We returned to the room after 6 hours after we had put a "please tidy the room" sign out..and nothing had been touched.
The reception was always understaffed, resulting in standing around for 30 minutes near checkout time.
The staff were kind and gracious (whilst under-resourced) and the facilities were good but not brilliant, especially when compared to a high end spa location such as Penny Hill.

One of my favourite spas, the massages are great, as was the food, especially the banana cake. The thalassotherapy pool was soothing, the steam room and hot tub can be really busy.... The nail bar was nice, lovely staff and the gym is small but rarely busy and a beautiful garden.

Could be 5* if only they paid attention to the smalldetails.

We booked a suite at Champneys Tring for the long weekend. The venue was amazing and serene (barring the day spa crowd).

We opted for Tring (vs other Champneys venues) for the unlimited Thalassotherapy and the number of available activities included in our visit.

Staff are attentive and friendly. Food selection was more than satisfactory and tasted amazing. Something suitable for all diet types.

Introduction to the venue was hit or miss, depending on the person showing you around at check-in. We didnt realise there are additional features available to us, until the last day.

One other downside was the fixtures and fittings.in suite and around the vuene. The little things like limescale or salt build up in the thalasso pool, safety box not having enough batteries and held by electrical tape.

They have talks and other activities available that are listed on some schedules/ pamphlets but not consistent on all documentation. So you have to piece together the full schedule.

Beautiful grounds and building, facilities are good, rooms are basic and a little dated , amazing spa areas, restaurant is to a high standard. Optional extras for everything, I purchased the steak and it was really poor quality. I think they should include a cooked breakfast option and a few more desserts, not everyone wants low calorie options, as it's a treat for most guests .

We won this overnight stay in a competition. Thought it would be a nice place to stay for our 30th wedding anniversary. Check in wasn't as smooth as it should have been. No robes available for about an hour. Our room was clean but tired, no air conditioning. Thermal pool was closed for maintenance. The food was very healthy as you would expect an the waiting staff were very helpful. Wine was available with our meal. We had some treatments which were relaxing and in a lovely calming room. Checking out had more problems, the computer didn't have the full vouchers .once this was pointed out it was rectified. Overall we had a very pleasant stay

Spa facilities brilliant!

Spa facilities brilliant!
Had a deep tissue massage by someone called iona- she was PHENOMENAL!!

Rooms are a good size but very adverage the whole place needs redesigning, pretty old, cracked walls, very very basic bathroom (travel lodge has better bathrooms).

Food.. well.. is very very healthy. Breakfast is okay, lots of options although mostly cold options- unless you want to pay extra. Lunch is better, more options and most of them warm and even a few carbs (yay!!!) . Dinner is such a let down. All in the name of being posh portions are miniscule, not much to pick from, hated it so much I had to order Chinese after.

There were lots of people from different adult age group there. Every one was friendly enough. Costumer service was pretty good too, nice welcome ect ect
The grounds were beautiful as well and lots of classes.
. Overall we went there with the 75% discount you get with vitality so I would still go there again because it was dead cheap but would I pay full price for it- absolutely not!

We came here for a belated wedding anniversary staying for a 2 night spa break.
The whole booking process was disappointing. It took longer than 30mins to book then I had to call back to discuss treatments and waited another 30mins.

When we got here we could clearly see that that there was not enough staff. Numerous times reception was left unmanned. Calling room service or any of the numbers or services was pretty much a waste of time.

Although breakfast and lunch was nice, dinner we feel was a bit over rated and not very nice.
The facilities were good and lots of classes and hidden spaces to relax, but for the price paid I don't think it was worth it.
Room was basic despite being a superior double..

I'm not sure we will be recommending.
