My wife and I went two nights in a row and both nights we shared a fantastic experience together, the pub has a warm friendly atmosphere, and our dog was made to feel most welcome.
They have a great selection of gins, whiskeys and ales.
My wife had the seafood pie which was crammed with prawns and fish and had a lovely cheesy topping. I had the beer battered fish and chips and found the portion just the right size for my massive appetite.
We then went on to have the apricot croissant bread and butter pudding, it was nothing short of heaven.

We will definitely be returning

What a lovely cosy hotel, we arrived after a 10 hour plus drive very tired and an amazing lady called Chris sorted out any concerns and bought me up a cup of coffee. The food was fabulous (chef really cares about his work), the owner Claire works really hard having just taken over from the previous owners (retired) just a great feel. Fabulous nights sleep. Great stop off before going to Bute.

Fantastic place in a fantastic place. After staying 2 nights on the Isle of Bute we travelled via the 'wee' ferry and lunched here. Nice place. When I retire, Im going to buy a house nearby and this will be my local. gets busy in the summer holidays, but nice for out of season breaks too.

Was doing the 5 Ferries cycle challenge. Stopped off for shelter and refreshments. Had lunch in the bar. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. We had the burger which was very tasty. The group next to us had the langoustine, looked like an impressive plate. Next time we are passing we will definitely call in.

Lovely meal here - the bar is warm and cosy while the restaurant fitted four of us and about 10 other guests. Food was really great, staff were friendly and helpful (even helping us with a smoked salmon starter that wasn't actually on the menu) and the view was fantastic.

The Colintraive hotel was excellent both in terms of quality and in terms of the customer service. I found the staff friendly and approachable. The location of the hotel is also ideal for a visit after alighting the ferry.

Fell into this after talking to some soggy cyclists we met after our ferry was cancelled.. So lucky! It is everything you imagine when you hope for a quality hotel in Scotland, fine food, well cooked fresh local produce(I had langoustines & huge scallops) , Great welcome from Patricia, even though we backed into her fence in the car park! Loved it. Saved the holiday. I loved the sound of sheep as I wake up in the morning, cycling around Bute and walking around the weird Japanese gardens. Even had a swim in the Loch when the Hotel owner went for a kayak. Its only a small place, (5 rooms) but its spot on.

Marvelous restaurant (we stayed at the owner s fabulous holiday house, not the hotel). Freshest of fresh well prepared local dishes (langoustines, haddock, crab, Bute beef, Bute sausages, etc). Highly recommended for all - great vegetarian options too! Very good, friendly, knowledgeable staff ... just great all round!

We visited Colintraive Hotel on a Monday evening for dinner. We were greeted with a warm welcome from the staff and resident pooch! The bar had a few people in but was relatively quiet, the atmosphere was still fab and we enjoyed our evening around the bar area! Our food was absolutely to die for. I mean, we expected it to be good after reading other reviews, but honestly it was the best meal we have eaten out in a long time! The seafood was delicious, fresh and well prepared/cooked. All of the food was obviously home made - including the delicious handcut chips, tartare sauce and pastry too! Whenever we re in the area again we won t hesitate to visit again. Thank you Colintraive hotel

I live this hotel. Enjoyed the location and friendly community so much we bought a house just up the road. We now eat at the hotel regularly and love meeting up for drinks and chat. Patricia is such a great hostess. If you want to visit Argyll's Secret Coast this is the best place to be based. (Do I sound biassed?)

Excellent stay over the weekend at The Colintraive Hotel. The host Clare is delightful. Great choice of wines and beers. And the food is exceptional courtesy of chef Joe. A great atmosphere in the bar area if you just fancy a drink. Or move on into the restaurant for a more formal (yet still relaxed) setting. The bedroom was well appointed, extremely comfortable beds and far reaching views across the Loch. Thoroughly recommended. Say hello to Maggie (cat) for me if you stay... you should.

Always make sure I stop off to have some food and a pint when in this area of Scotland. Lovely food drink and view, warm fireside, so if you're going to Bute worth stopping off after the ferry ride back to the mainland.

A very warm and personal welcome. Unfortunately the service was a little lacking. It may well have been just a blip in the day to day running of the establishment, but the tea was so weak, it struggled to get out of the pot. I had to ask for a tea cup (they forgot you can't drink straight from the tea pot). The coffee was reasonable but I asked for an americano and got something between that and an espresso. I know, I know good food doesn't come cheap but I thought the prices were a bit steep considering the standard of the surroundings. By that I mean everything looked a bit tired. So, for that, I'm sorry it's a 3 star from me. Maybe next time if things change, I might be able to upgrade it to 5 Star which I really would like to do.

A shining beacon of good food, good service, good people and a great atmosphere in a very remote part of Scotland. The Colintraive provided all the family (kids included) with an enjoyavle experience. Great views of rural scotland out the front of the hotel as well. Nice beers on tap too. I'll be going back if i'm out that way touring again.

Thank you so much for your kind hospitality last night when we were stranded at Colintraive! The hot food takeaway was greatly appreciated just when we needed it! Thanks again - we will be back!
