Worst experience! Manager has a authority complex. They dont follow spca regulations. We will file a complaint. Applications denied for no good reason except the managers self righteousness. The other staff was nice but she was unfriendly and confrontational. Speaking down to people and her staff.

amazing. Don't listen to any of the bad reviews here, this place and another no kill shelter is the best, they don't have authority issues, they just want to make sure their fur babies go to the right home.

Horrible. Dogs t out in the heat. They make u fill out an application in which I was told it could take a week before I could be ok to take a dog home. These folks don t seem eager to help and let these dogs go to good homes.

I'm sure that they mean well, but I was looking to rescue a dog and they wouldn't let me because my daughter's dog isn't fixed. Her dog is a pure bred Carrin terrier. Riddle me this Batman if the dog I get from the shelter is fixed what does it matter if my daughter's dog is fixed or not?

Don't get pets here, picked up a cat Friday and he was coughing the owner says he had a furball. We took him to pet hospital because cough got worse the next day found out he had a upper respiratory infection and worms.

This is a wonderful shelter! We got our baby Honey,(Dixie), and she has been the best! They are informative, and sweet. Cassidy was so helpful and pleasant to be around, I could tell she takes great care of the animals she cares for. If we ever need another pet, we will adopt from them again. Please give these animals a chance. Thanks for adopting!!!!

This is one of the best places, if you are obsessed with animals, to volunteer. Nice staff, lots of work to do, you can socialize with the cats and dogs, and being able to give back to the community is an awesome feeling. I absolutely love CTSPCA and the staff will always be in my heart because of all the teachings and help that they provided while I was volunteering at the shelter!

a week ago my boyfriend and i applied to adopt cedar we went in everyday they were open to check on him and make sure our application was going smoothly NO ONE FROM LEANDER SPCA contacted us to let us know our apartment complex was not answering even though we had already gotten verbal approval from our apartment. we legit went up there yesterday and nothing was said about our apartment not answering. cedar was adopted out by another family and now we are both very upset. we will NOT be coming here to adopt anything. very upsetting that a place would do this.

We were trying to adopt a dog and we didn't hear from them after 2 weeks. My granddaughter call and they said they would call her back but never did,I called them 3 times and was told the same thing but they never called me back. I know they are busy but some how they should call back with some info after that much time!!

11: 50 AM 1/15/2015 Just got off the phone with the receptionist there. While she gave me the number to a shelter that I could take this puppy I found, she was also very cold, hurried, and downright rude. As I tried to to explain a little bit about him, she let me know that it doesn't matter what I say, it's the shelters discretion to kill them or not. That may be true, but when someone calls you trying to do right by an baby animal and trying to avoid him being killed, the sterile approach that she took was both off putting and a bit disgusting. All I've been hoping for is to find this baby a safe place until he can find a Forever home, and she pretty much squashed ANY hope I had for it. If everyone at this establishment acts the way that receptionist did, maybe they should take another look at what they're doing there and WHY they are doing it. ALSO, when ending a phone call, the appropriate response for being thanked for even terrible, terrible service is not "Uh-huh" *Click* Shame on you.

Staff was very kind! Barbara is awesome, and was kind enough to guide me to my perfect companion. I would highly recommend going here above any other adoption place in the Austin area. Don't get frustrated about the paperwork. If you want a dog, you need to be able to care for it; and I truly appreciate their indepth background check. I have spent several days/weeks at local shelters and this was the only staff that was truly kind and helpful!! Give, help and do what you can to support them. They are doing a good service for our area!

This is the worst animal shelter ever... They don't feed the dogs enough or focus on truly finding a home for these animals. We put in an application to adopt Lekia for my daughter that has special needs and rejuctre us because I have cats. We have tons of money, and a nice condo in Austin, a great vet and we're rejected ???? Worst Animal shelter ever!!! My experience with this SPCA was substandard. Go adopt from PetSmart's dont waste your money or time on this shelter

The animals are so well cared for and loved here. Habitats are wonderful and comfortable for the animals. This is a strictly volunteer shelter so the visiting times are a bit wonky which is very understandable, but there are always volunteers there caring for the animals. Very impressed and staff is super friendly and accommodating.

Great staff. Great adoption process-meaning they put the needs of the animals first not the impulses of potential owners.

Adoption process is lacking.... My mother although approved for the adoption with glowing references was pushed aside for someone who doesn't work... I.e. "home all of the time" as if they never ever leave their home. This is laughable due to my mother also works from home 90% of the time. She is also one of those people who has a special way with animals. And nowhere in the process do they see the connection with the animal. She connected right away even having one of the staff say specifically "We've been waiting for someone like her for him." noticing the connection as well. They really missed on this one due to a piece of paper and a couple of phone calls. And again she was approved and first app in! Unbelievable!

Have attempted to volunteer here many times over the years, and have always been met by the same unfriendly woman telling me that i have to get appointed to this shelter by my probation officer, which when this was explained to her, shes told me straight up that she thinks they are lying to me about this. They have always been unfriendly and unwelcoming.

I volunteer here and being able to come in and help care for the dogs is just a really good feeling. Would definitely recommend to any dog or cat person to come apply to be a volunteer here. Very nice property, excellent staff and lots of dogs/cats

We had an awesome experience. They show lots of love to their animals. We had to fill out an extensive application and had to be approved to be sure we were good owners. We adopted the love of our life. He was very energetic but with age has calmed down. We would adopt from there again.

Central Texas SPCA has a great facility with lots of space for furry friends to hang out waiting for a new home. The facilities are obviously cared for in a way that emphasizes suitability over glamour. A wonderful cat area with plenty of space for climbing, lounging, and whatever else it is a cat does. Great spaces outside for dogs to hang out. Clearly delineated spaces for sick animals, and clear markings for those animals.
