It felt so intimate to view your Yom Kippur services on line and at Central, rather than the cavernous Lincoln Center.
I was more able to meditate and think deeply.
I also found the dancing quite interesting.
Congratulations, Rabbi Buchdahl and all, for trying new things. So many of them worked.

I spent Yom Kippur services online with C S since I could not attend a service in person. I always belonged to and attended a Conservative or Modern Orthodox Congregation. At times both at the same time. I was extremely impressed with the Central Synagogue website service and the clergy.

I just love the architecture of this building. It puts a smile on my face each time I pass it. It was built between 1870 and 1872 in the Moorish Revival style. It was supposed to be a copy of the Dohany Street Synagogue in Budapest, Hungary.

I am morally obligated to write this review. I am a Muslim and today i prayed inside the Synagogue. Our Mosque across the street was closed due to fire. When we had no place to worship, Synagogue opened the door for us, and hundreds of Muslims completed their Friday prayer. Special thanks to Rabbi and every member of the Synagogue.

Magnificent building, beautiful service! I come from the oldest reform temple west of the Mississippi River . I was just wondering.....I thought our Temple was about as reformed as one could get, but yet, the Rabbi and Cantor wear a Yalmalka as do those reading from the Torah. (Along with a Tallis) More and more people now wear yalmakas too and some a Tallis. Yes we are still Reformed Jews, but tending to hold on to traditional too. Maybe it s just a New York thing.
Just respectfully wondering.

It is the oldest synagogue still in use in NYC. It stands out in the central Manhattan with its two golden domes, built in the late nineteenth century, in pure Moorish style. one of the most beautiful Jewish places of worship that New York has.

a great place to pray. Super warm and friendly with a Moroccan vibe. Very liberal and could live without the political agenda sometimes, but i love that they stream their services and when in person, it is such a wonderful experience with the music and variations of instruments. The rabbis are fantastic and i look forward to their shabbos services when in town.

Jewish religious space in the center of Manhattan ...

Jewish religious space in the center of Manhattan and guarded at street level by the police, allows visits although from 12 to 14 Tuesday and Wednesday and one afternoon. I think a visiting schedule is somewhat scarce. Even so, the synagogue inside is recommended to visit and the staff we have come across has been very kind to us.

Dear Rabbi,

Dear Rabbi,
I want to thank you for the most enjoyable services I have attended since I was a child and young married in Minneapolis many many years ago. I especially LOVED your sermon on What Does a Jew Look Like. I have often thought that same question, especially when people look at my children and say "they don't look Jewish!" (both of whom are white American born. but were adopted by us as infants). Your sermon was very special and I just wanted to say thank you.
