Older facility but willing to do what it takes for the customer! Good people to work with and maintenance staff is AWESOME!

I come to this place regularly to pick up steel. Every experience seems to be getting worse. I m actually writing this review as I m waiting. I came here yesterday to pick up an order that was place 3 days ago which is plenty of time to fill it. Yesterday they told me it would be ready for pick up by 11:30am and I get here only to find out it s not and I would have to wait. I waited 2 hours for them to tell me to just come back tomorrow. Well, I m here now and they re telling me after 3 hours of waiting that the order is done, they just don t have any workers to load my truck. They have cranes and machine loaders but they can t toss 475 pounds of steel in the back of my truck? This place is ridiculous and I will for sure be taking my business elsewhere.

I am a driver and I had a emergency at home the receiving staff helped me get unloaded . thanks

The worst place to make delivery.l met my appointment,it took them four hours to take a bundle of metal weighing 788lbs of the truck..To crown it all,no apology or sign of remorse for wasting my time.Truckers please avoid this place if you can.

Haven't delivered here and haven't picked up here so I can't say for that part. You do have a driver that knows nothing about Chicago area. I was looking for somewhere to turn around and I asked the check in guy if it was ok for me to turn around since I'm lost and need a truck stop. He told me I could either go turn around in the parking lot or feel free to stay all night. I told him I'm not picking up or dropping off. He said he didn't mind he knows how it is in Chicago for drivers and this would be easier for me. I thanked him and ended up staying the night. I appreciate it you guys I was almost out of hours

Refuse to load here if you have any choice. They waste your time, your money and they don't give a damn.

We've had some good companies go out of business the last decade. Shame this union trash didn't go instead.

There should be an option for negative stars. Appointment @ 11am, arrived @10:31 am, and still sitting in the parking lot loaded waiting to unloaded @ 1:38 pm. All of the 5 star reviews are complete BS. I've been here MANY times and it's the same thing every time! Will not haul for them or to them ever again.

Dont bother calling their inside sales group is not friendly or very helpful. I actually tried to send them a picture and was told they could not help I had to have the exact thickness of the metal i was working for and the actual application in which it was being used. before I was able to go any further and explain that the picture had the actual use and that the thickness on the wire management, was dismissed. I dont belive they are interested in selling their supllies. Go somewhere else!

load delivery appointment 3:30, arrived at 3:15, empty at 6:45. unloading took literally 5 minutes.... after they finally pulled me inside.

What a joke this place is !!! 9 am appt time & now it's 12 & sup waiting to get unloaded !! Been watching trucks that came in behind & after me go back to unload & leave & here I still sit. Frickin BS !! I never want to come back here again !!!!

Loading from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. !!! (although they work around the clock). Escort to the place in the hangar. Very large organization, everything is VERY long.

worst company I was, 1st time I had a pick up, 2nd was a delivery . checked in at 7:30pm with only 2 trucks in front of me at the same bay, left at 6:45am next day(11h) , they don't care about drivers, waste of time. Avoid this place please.

This one star is a negative star. I ve been here for two hours waiting to get offloaded. I ve got five lifts which takes little time at all to take off my trailer. Absolutely stupid!

After reading the reviews about this place, I was thinking the worst. But all in all for my first time coming here it wasnt really bad at all. My appointment was for 1pm. I arrived at 1030am and they came to get me at 130pm. For all those who complain about waiting, that is because of the other trucks inside getting loaded or unloaded. I got in and as soon as I was untarped and unstrapped they unloaded me right away. No issues at all. In and out pretty much.

I call this place for information the guy had the worst attitude and by only checking the reviews I'm not going to making this round. To the owner of rhis company do something sir because your company is not going to stay up for ever. Even the tallest buildings tend to fall. Don't be surprised why your company stops making profits

Great place to deliver to. Everyone was friendly and honored my delivery appointment time. Got right in at my scheduled time and didn t rush me out of the building after they got there product off and as I was putting my equipment away. Have spots to park overnight.

Great customer service and very hard worker there. In and out.....

Slowest unloading service 3 hrs for partial load, was early for appt time.took so long i was unable to unload my last stop that day. Appt was for 10:20 am

Negative star for me, very rude management,get loaded usually after4-5hours of waiting,loaders they don t know how to properly load to semi,loaders working hard,they just don t have proper training how to load the truck, to many want to b boss around to( management)shortly ,waste of time for truck drivers !

This place is the most unprofessional place I have had to go to. It's dirty, unsafe, and they think it's one big game, to mess with people. They don't know how to load. They take customer orders, fill them but, want you to load them. Show me your endorsement, for loading trucks. Along with my day driver, we are sending informative memos out to the customer. So they know, who is responsible for the messed up loads.

Checked in 16:30. At 21:00 they knock on my door. I tell them it's no longer time for loading, it's now time for sleep. I went with the guy anyway. At 02:30 I sent my loaded call. I will never come here again, and you shouldn't either.

Came in at 800am and at 0100pm still fully loaded, this comapny its a joke

former employee, no future here for new people, i work here two years part time, and they dont hire you for full time, until the old timers retired,make you work hard for low paid.

Wait time is ridiculous and they don't care about drivers. By the time you get loaded, with an 8 hour drive, you're lucky if you have 3 hours to get there.

Rude as hell! They don't sale to anyone that does not have a company. What's that about???

Showed up at 10am, appointment was at 2pm. I figured I would check in early in case they have time to unload me. Its been 6.5 hours already, & NO word on when they can get to me! & thats 3 hours past my appointment time! I'll be sure & not haul the material they need to them again. Get your sh!% together ppl, worst I've seen in a while.

They work by appt but ,you'll wait 4-5 hours after your appt,they don't give a f... about your time ,check your cdl before you come here might expire till you are done.

I was picking up steel 2days ago at this place around 5 am, it was taking more time than usual to get my truck loaded that s when I asked the Forman with the white shirt about my load, his answer was to get the F*** out of his face that if I want to leave to go ahead and leave. This was so outrageous and so unprofessional for a Forman, this place has very poor management. I found out later on that this guy was drunk. Very very poor management....
Central Steel Chicago has a very POOR management in their warehouse. The warehouse facilities are trashy and dirty,. Employers are very sloppy packing and loading the materials. They don't care to send rusty or damaged material to the customers. The Central Steel triple check quality is a joke, warehouse management have poor judgment and no experience in quality control. VERY POOR MANAGEMENT.
People working overtime chat to each other more than work. They have groups of eight workers just to bundle one skid. Orders are never filled on time. Always have to wait two to three hours for a skid to finish loading my truck. The so called supervisors just walk around chatting with people and doing nothing, the other supervisors just sit inside the office watching and chatting, specially on the third shift, they don't care about production, they just care about the easy money they're making at Central Steel.

I would say no money is worth the waste of time here. Pushing on 3+ hours past the appointment time and still sitting on the parking lot, waiting to be pulled in for unloading. First & last time here!

They don't honor the appointments they make. We have to make an appointment for delivery but you won't get in for 3 or 4 hours past your appointment. Will NEVER come back here again. Go pick up your own stuff

If you re have pick up load from here, you lose!!! Spend here half of the day to get load! After check in, drivers have to wait on parking lot for fee hours till someone get you inside, than when you re inside they have something like 30 minutes break every hour, or so..

Typical Union shop better get here by the time that we tell you to and even when you do get there you're looking at a minimum of 4 hours to offload unless you're one of their good old boys that come in and out of here on a regular basis nevermind this elog I think when somebody runs out of our they ought to just shut it down right where they sit because of people like this

What is that loud repeated sound that hasn't stopped since Monday? It sounds like sweeping sound I can't really describe. Point is: it hasn't stopped for days and it's coming from this company. How inconsiderate is this? As a neighbor it is very annoying and my son has autism in which I am forced to play music semi loudly so that he doesn't focus on it too much.This sound has become a huge nuisance. Please someone make it stop.
