For my first time being here, I must say the venue is quite impressive. You get the opportunity to get up close and personal with artists and bands. The audio is on point and the lighting is exciting. the venue heavily supports local artists, which is always an amazing thing. The only downside was after the show the crowd was so disrespectful and left their trash everyewhere.

Fun shows, but the seating in the bleachers is uncomfortable and overcrowded, the viewing angles from the lawn kind of suck, and the sound system is mediocre. But, the vibe is what you're here for.

Summer stage is a fabulous program where New Yorkers can watch various performances and be entertained throughout the summer along the 5 boroughs. Entrance to the Central park space is free, but 5$ donation is strongly recommended in order to keep the event free.
I snipped off 2 stars because it is very far from trains. Especially at night , free events are over, it's unpleasant to walk a lot in the dark. I wouldn't call it unsafe, as there are always lots of people heading out, but it's quite inconvenient. And they have random trains that aren't useful to most people..
Also- if it rains the ground gets filthy. There are porta potties along the area, accessible to the stage vicinity. One more issue that can be bothersome for some people is that there isn't much shade there, & the sun often beats into your eyes as you're waiting for the concert to start.

Awesome venue in the park. It can get crowded quickly and the sound volume is on the low side, which are about the only negatives. If you don't get a ticket to a show, you can hear the sound really well from the rocks and little graveyard that's just outside the venue. Artificial turf is nice so that the shows with rain don't become a mud fest.

Beautiful setting in Central Park with tall trees surrounding. Music quality pretty solid for outdoor venue and good food and drink options (no liquor though from what I've seen). Bleachers in the back and grass up to the stage to lay blankets and sit or just stand. Usually some great acts every summer.

The show was awesome, the sound was good and there were seats and a VIP section as well as GA on the ground. There was a huge projector screen available for the band which was very bright. Only downside was access to drinks and water was very limited. There are a bunch of portapoties though if you need to use the restroom...

Perfect summer venue that hosts a number of free events. There are bathrooms and food on hand but feel free to bring your own picnic. Seating is limited, so get there early and bring a blanket.

Save your money. Terrible sound system, no monitors, impossible to see anything at all since no elevation in ground. If you right outside you at least get grass to sit on and listen. Otherwise be ptepared to look at the back of heads while everyone talks

Organizers need a safer method to allow people in the venue. The hired security team had wands to check for metals but didn't even bother using them nor pat anyone down. Many people walked in without paying, god forbid someone had something that could have hurt someone on their possession. Even inside the venue the hired security didn't seem to care about much, they kinda stood and sat around. I walked to the row of bathrooms outside the main stage area with a beer, did my business, when I walked back some security guard yelled at me for having a beer?? Maybe if he did his job in the first place when I walked by and he told me I could not pass this point with a beer I would have listened but he was particularity rude and it killed the vibe for a little bit of the show since I got pretty mad.

Besides crappy security, everything else was dope. Food was good beer choice was OK but the music rocked.

Warren Haynes and his symphony brought out the beauty in Jerry Garcia that can only be heard through music.

The disabled section needs their own porta-potty, because it's extremely hard for a disabled person to push through a crowd to use the rest room. Otherwise, it's a good and spacious area for concerts.

Wonderful venue for an intimate venue for an outdoor gig. We saw King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard on 28 August 2019 and it was a great experience. Loved how well organised it was, especially with the plentiful number of bars selling a great range of craft beers.

It's in Central Park, so, of course that's a plus. Great scenery and whatever else NYC has to offer. Very small venue, which isn't a bad thing. Makes for a more intimate setting. The stage sits higher than the audience and much of it is standing room so it's got limited view of the stage depending on where you are and how tall the person in front of you is. There's some bleachers to sit down and get a better view if they aren't full. That's all superficial. The sound though... I went to a symphonic show. One I have seen many of the performances from this tour. And this was, by far, the worst sounding venue. So sad for the band to close the tour with a whimper instead of a bang.

Summer stage is one of those institutions I would miss if I ever left NYC, It's one of the last holdouts for music now that most of the venues have left for Brooklyn. Last saw Femi Kuti there for free when does that ever happen in this life?

The locale is great providing there's good weather... outside in Central Park! The seating is sparse and not very comfortable. Other than that, we've gone there 3 times so something's right about it!

Nice venue, for sure, and the food and drinks are ok plus and affordable. However I find the music for the most part to be really bad. The headliner is usually good, but the rest was a pain. Since it is free, don't mind coming late
