Lovely old building at classic theatre great place to go see a play or live stage act.
One of the last great show theatres in Canada.
Reasonable prices on shows and constant updates on new productions. Service and sales staff are helpful and don t try to push tickets on you.
I would love to see larger seats, but you can have everything.
It s not the first play we have seen at the Centaur and we never leave disappointed. Keep up the excellent work.
Very nice English-speaking theater in Montreal. Very friendly, very nice room! A must.
The performance of "Playing With Fire" by the actor Shaun Smith was nothing short of brilliant. Congratulations to all involved in this exciting piece of theatre!!!
I have yet to have a bad theater going experience here.
The staff here is brilliant and the quality of the space and plays is always good.
Favorite theatre in Montreal, especially for English plays. Student discounts are also very generous!
Wonderdul space with great sight lines. Thoroughly enjoyed the Little Dickens show we saw.
Great multiple spaces with a wide range of shows and festivals.
Great show at the Centaur Theater tonite! The 39 Steps!
Parking was terrible. Seats were uncomfortable and the play was mediocre.
Saw Paradise Lost. Brilliant text and performances from the entire cast.
I love attending plays at Centaur Theatre. They're selection is eclectic and every production is of high quality. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and there is a cozy bar lounge to relax in before or after the show. Being located in Old Montreal is a bonus too!
Great English theater with modern and challenging plays
Lovely English language theatre in the historic part of Montreal. The theatre is small, which makes for a more intimate theatrical experience. There is also an adjoining cafe/lounge area for patrons to visit before the show. The staff is incredibly nice and will make reasonable accommodations as well.
Traveling abroad to attend theatrical performances is not easy but at Le Centaur, they come to you. The theater I visited was simple in appearance but had all the artifices necessary for a good show.
Went for a play which my college teacher had us attend. Beautiful venue with a friendly staff. Their "pay what you want" politic is great for people wanting to get into watching plays on a budget. 5/5 will be attending more plays.
Beautiful theater, with comfy seats and friendly staff. Plus it is wheelchair accessible!
A good place to see award winning English theatre,in Montreal
The Play " The first Wife " at the Centaur would have been more enjoyable if one could have heard and understood the complete dialogue . As Christopher Plummer said : " Ever a whisper from an actor should be heard in the last row of the theatre. " And that was not the case at the Centaur last night. Most laughs came from the middle section of the theatre, we sat on the left side , 6th row, and little reaction from the audience was noticed . PLEASE make sure your actors are heard for everyone in the audience.
Daisy Theatre was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
I always enjoy the productions here. Good seeing at a good cost.
The Tashme Project is a powerful telling of the Japanese experience in Canada. A must see for anyone who wants to understand our history.
Great Performance by a master puppeteer
Throughly understands his audience and entertained us.
Well chosen by the Centaur Theatre
The theater is absolutely awesome. I saw a play at Centaur and it was an amazing experience. I even have a teacher friend who put on a show with their school theater group in the same theater years ago.
A great location and program. Informal and relaxing atmosphere
An amazing night of great theater in a wonderful location.
MOB is a brilliant production...lighting, sound, set, direction, acting, script. The very best on all levels.
I've been once ("You Will Remember Me" in 2017) and I loved it! Staff is friendly and I felt connected to the actors on stage.
Terrific contemporary works in a great location. A high quality night out at unparalleled value while supporting the arts. Hard to beat!
Great theatrical experience. Superb place. Makes you want to repeat the experience.
Thanks
Choir was great! To have,
Hard entry to follow, but otherwise everything is # 1.
Live theater is great. Only problem is getting into town and parking with all construction and snow accumulation.
Nice theatre with good acoustics. The performance we saw was quite good. The cafe/bar was very lackluster. Would've been nice to have some great food and coffee before the show.
This is a great theatre venue. They have a great selection of plays. It is also a very good venue, the building is very good. Currently I would consider it the best option for English language theatre in the city of Montreal. Accessibility is not very easy since it is in the old port.
Classy shows with excellent production value. Old historical building adds a nice ambiance. Love the costumes and the artistry. They've been getting more political in their messages in the last few years, but not yet offensively so. Saw Paradise Lost with a Feminist twist yesterday. Was good.
The bar offers a selection including coffee, hot chocolate and pop for those trying to keep awake for the later shows. They come in real glassware with a 2$ price value. Bathrooms are clean and odorless, but crampt.
The play was very good but the place was way to hot ... suffocating
If your a fan of the theater the high caliber productions that go on here are truly amazing! Never left disappointed. Keep up the amazing hard work. I ll definitely be back for more shows!
Amazing production! How Black Mothers Say I Love You
Blind Date...was excellent and funny. Great improv. Ruby Roy
Thoroughly enjoyed everything about this establishment. The seating was comfortable. Beverages are available. The entertainment as a theatre was high quality and very professional!
Great place for quality theatrics, bilingual and french-only
Thoroughly enjoyed performance of The Last Wife but was a little long.
39 Steps is really funny. Only a few days left to go see it.
Great place, clean bathrooms friendly staff. Went to see a play and the cast was so talented .
You can order/pay tickets online and get them upon arrival onsite. Staff is friendly and understanding, taking in consideration lots of tourists passing by and being kinda annoying. It's heart of downtown, so beware of traffic. There is no free/on street parking, but you can find nearby a couple of paid spots with tag around $10/hour. Beware: street is closed for repair, plan your time accordingly if you want to get the by car.
Their shows are so refreshing!! This is the best of contemporary theatre that you actually understand ;) we are subscribers for 2 years now!
They do a really great job to bring theatre to Montreal
Well liked the room
Not too big not too small. Good sound
Playing With Fire is one rip-roaring, rock and rolling portrayal of
the trials and tribulations of a young canadian boy who went on to
become one of Canada's great hockey players. Not a dull moment!
Nice experience. Choir Boy: super. But seats really uncomfortable.
The play choir boy was simply amazing
Great acting. Singing a truly engrossing and captivating performance
Today, my class and I went there to watch the play "Playing with fire: The Theo Fleury story". I personally liked the play, I loved the way the actor presented himself perfectly as the character. I am not a fan of hockey or even sports TV in general, but the story of this hockey player, I can somehow relate to what he has been through, ( in an other way )... Shaun Smyth you did a wonderful job.
Also for the long time of living in the neighborhood near the Centaur Theater, it was my first time attending it. I can't wait to go back theregarding to watch an other amazing play!
I was disappointed that the entire display of the place was only in English. A big lack of respect.
