Great place to go hike. There is a lot of shade through the trails.
Dallas is flat. Cedar Ridge Reserve is a short drive away but you feel like you re out of State with all of hills and forest. And it s a challenging hike/run. A must for any local outdoors type.
a wide variety of trails and natural beauty - highly recommend for hiking
This place is awesome! The only thing is, parking is a challenge and it s usually closed days after it rains. If you are looking for a good place to get some fresh air, challenge yourself athletically or meditate this is the place. It has spots throughout the trails. The trails vary in intensity. I love it.
I really enjoy the outdoors and this place has a very quaint Adventure about it. It gives you the feel of hiking because of the Hills and the trees. But it's even better because it's right in your backyard so to speak. I had a great experience and a wonderful workout
Beautiful spot for hiking. Trails are VERY busy with family's, trail runners and backpackers taking advantage of some good elevation change to train for upcoming trips. (Almost too busy). REI has given them more grants, so I look forward to them continuing to maintain and prevent erosion well!
gets a little too packed now, but great place for a good workout
I love nature and me and my four-legged friend go for walks here frequently. They have several different trails to choose from. The nature trail is very scenic. Bring yourself some comfortable shoes, water and hit any trail. Parking can be a bit hectic at busy times.
I didn't know anything about this spot when I hopped in my car and set out. As soon as I arrived I realized I made the right choice. You instantly no longer feel like you're in the DFW area. We hiked several trails totaling around 5 miles of hiking. The trails are very nice and maintained and covered with shade. BE PREPARED to get your heart rate up as well- this place has a ton of elevation changes and stairs. I personally love this, but just a warning. If you're feeling depressed or cooped inside on a sunny weekend, I strongly recommend checking this hidden gem out! It is free to enter, but they do ask for donations. There is a box at the exit you can donate through.
This nature preserve offers some of the best hiking trails in the Dallas area. The trails are very well marked and maintained with water and restroom facilities near the parking lot. Surprisingly the terrain offered numerous elevation grade changes, ideal for working out after sitting behind a desk all week and along the trail there were several lookouts which offered a great view.
Beautiful views and the trail is full of shade. Also dog friendly, I absolutely love it every time I'm out there.
This place is great for hiking. Only place in Dallas where you feel like you're away from the city. Real hiking, nothing paved. I love going here. Many trails to choose from. Easy to intermediate. It's free but they ask for a $3 donation when you leave the parking lot. It's worth way more than that. I usually leave $5-$10.
Great trails to spend some time in nature. Well maintained and great views. Perfect place to get some exercise!
Dont take this place lightly. If you're starting from square 1, take the easy paths.
Less shadowy place. Do wear caps to prevent you from heatstroke.
The preserve is nice and quiet place to get away from the city noise. It was soothing and relaxing. Just make sure you bring plenty of water to stay hydrated.
It was great, we took our kids here on a drizzly day and walked 1 mile from the main parking lot to the pond. There was a little gazebo there and we had lunch. A couple alligator snapping turtles made their way over as well as a bunch little fish. My girls figured out that they like sandwiches so they had alot of fun with that. Really good view for being so close to home.
I love this place. It is great to take your dog, but it is also a little crowded at times. People with disabilities might have problems because the paths are not really ADA style.
Beginner trails and dog friendly. Nice people go there.
I love this scenic route. I'm tired, but we'll worth it. . True hiking adventure
Great place to go for a hike. Many different length and difficulty tracks to choose from
Favorite place to hike glad and sad its too popular on the weekends
If you run the trails expect to fall once. Love this place for a great workout with the family.
Love the experience! Many trails to cover! A romantic outing or even a family place!
Great place for walking the natural trail not pavements. This place is wooded with several walking trails with some incline but not hard at all. 7 year old can walk the trail. Has a small pond with gazebo to stop and rest. Good view of the area in couple points. Trails are well maintained.
Great for a family hike. Me, my husband and our 8, 4 and 1.5 year old all enjoyed it. We carried our 1.5 year old in a carrier on our backs.
Well organized parking space.
Clean bathrooms.
Maintained trails.
Great space.
This is my 4th time there...maybe 5 :) I love this place. Dog friendly. Perfect to go hiking with friends and family.
We had a great hike here today. The trails are interesting, challenging and mostly well-kept, which is a great accomplishment given the amount of visitation and the steep topography. We're looking forward to returning.
Beautiful, well-maintained trails. Something for everyone, different levels of difficulty. One thing to know is that parking fills up pretty early so just keep that in mind. But there are many trails so that even if there are a lot of people it's still very enjoyable.
Good mini hike... pretty spot... lots of people ... seems safe
Very crowded with people playing music on the trails but otherwise a good way to tire yourself out
The trails are maintained pretty well. A great place to get away.
Great place to go hiking around DFW. There is so many different trails for everyone. Make sure to get there early as the parking lot does fill up pretty quick. There are great views as well. Definitely worth the drive out there.
This place is beautiful, especially around 7-8 am. Half the parking is full on weekend mornings. Great place to jog/hike. It was pretty muddy when u came here, even though it hasn't rained since a couple of days. The trails are very scenic. Great place to bring friends and family. Will definitely come back when I have time.
Beautiful...clean....and peaceful area to go with family and have a relaxing time and conect with nature
What makes this trail different is like you are going up on a mountain (so it is tiring because it's steep) but you get to see the city fro up there it's beautiful scenery, I took the Cattail pond trail which is one mile planning to go and do other trails.
Worth it. Wear a good shoes for hiking. It's preferred to have a company with you.
By far the best hiking place in DFW hands down! Been to a few others but nothing compares to Cedar Ridge. The restrooms are super clean and the park is so awesome!!! Would definitely recommend it to all hiking lovers!!
My son took me here yesterday to hike and see the breathtaking views. The peak overlooks Mountain Creek where a sailboat happened to be present for a cool twist on my visual expectation. We journeyed onward down the ridge where there was a beautiful little trickling stream and a larger pond with a covered gazebo next to it for peaceful enjoyment. Turtles and fish swam boldly along in the pond.
The sounds of nature that include animals and the wind in the trees is priceless. There's plenty of tree shade along the trails for a comfortable hike no matter how sunny the weather. It's serene and absolutely beautiful.
My 2nd favorite thing after the scenery was the butterfly garden just to the left of the entrance. It's a little unkempt but nonetheless teeming with beautiful butterflies and moths, one of which was the biggest I've ever seen. I'm bummed that I didn't bring my phone to take pics.
There are donation boxes on site so bring cash if you wanna support this outdoor treasure.
I'm not a physically fit person so the journey back to the top was a winded challenge but not a killer undertaking by any means. This could be an excellent way for those seeking better physical health to push themselves because ther only way back to toure cadder is to keep going whether you're up to it or not. And the serenity of nature is its own reward.
Very good place if you want to enter the rigorous level or if you are applied.
Great hiking ,multiple levels and distaces for all levels of hikers.Trails are very well manicured .
A beautiful preserve awaits you, if you decide to come, with quite the crowds to explore its grounds. There was a line for parking because if you do not get there before 8am it s going to be very difficult to snag a spot. It has trails for all levels of intensity and the longest trail is about 2 miles long. I d recommend to take plenty of water and snacks or maybe even a picnic to make it a day at the preserve. Picnic tables are available for those who want to bring meals.
Restrooms at trailhead. Mostly shady trails and a pond at the end.
Went on a Sunday morning. Parking lot full. Joggers to family hikers to seniors. Trails to suit all. Found all courteous and felt safe.
Love all the different trails and scenic views! My dog loves it too!
It's a great place for the love of God I have to forever go easy to get out of the house and the comfortable bed
Great for hiking and enjoying nature. Went with friend from work. Nice casual outting. Dog friendly great views
The trails are mostly shaded, but are rugged and unsuitable for children. On the way, I often smelled shit. People who brought dogs did not scoop the poop.
Website said they were open. We drove an hour to be able to visit the park and when we arrived someone was closing the gates.
God blesses all the people who are entering the mountain guide them and protect them on the roads
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ, which strengtheneth me. all the people are nice and friendly God blessed everyones
All around a good place to go to do some walking and sightseeing. The trails that we took were fairly simple and easy to navigate. The preserve was kept very clean by staff so that was nice. This seems to be a very popular spot so parking might be an issue depending on what time you go.
This place is simply awesome if you enjoy trails and hiking trails. There is a nice view of the lake if you walk far enough.
Had a great time we walked and talk and gave God some praise for his glorious work this place is magnificent and amazing only God could create such beauty
Great park with lots of trail of options for all levels of hiking enthusiasts.
Great place to hike in DFW. Lots of different trails , well shaded and with actually elevation (which is tough to find in the metroplex)
Don't go unless you want to listen to people talking loud, playing music for the whole place to hear...
So many trails to choose from for every hiker whether you are a beginner or a frequent goer. Great scenery and lots of foliage.
