Great steakhouses are known for their simplicity. This place is no holds barred. My steak was perfect. It's funny reading reviews that are complaining about price or not having particular menu options... this restaurant is over 100 years old! Come for the steak, not the frills.

One of the best steaks I've ever had! Service was fantastic and the staff was friendly! I would suggest this establishment to any and all visiting or local!
I m not sure what the big deal is.... Cattleman s has great reviews online, so I figured I couldn t go wrong with what seems to be an OKC dining institution. Upon entering the restaurant I was encouraged to see that it was PACKED on a Saturday afternoon! However, once seated I was a little surprised. The restaurant wasn t very clean (at least the section in which I was seated.) But the food is what matters most; yet, it was underwhelming to say the least. Assuming Cattleman s is a dining establishment renowned by most who live in OKC, I completely fail to see the attraction: the salads were meh, with the house dressing nothing more than ranch with bits of cheese and a ton of garlic added; the steaks were thin and very bland; and, surprisingly, it was evident the mashed potatoes came from a box. I could ve had a better cut, better tasting, and slightly cheaper, steak at Chili s - and I don t really care for Chili s all that much, either. So chew on that for a bit, which is what I did because of the amount of gristle on the porterhouse I ordered.
I wish I could say Cattleman s is a destination restaurant, if for no other reason than to experience the ambiance and food! However, I can t. This place was probably great in its hey-day, but today I can safely expect superior options exist in OKC.
I think perception of Cattlemen s is influenced by history and hype. I found it to be way overrated. First the good: my 16oz ribeye was perfectly cooked as ordered. It was very juicy and very good, but not the best, like not $28-great. Service was pretty good, not stellar. The bummers: the iceberg salad with creamy house dressing was inedibly wilted and bland. Veggies were unseasoned. No draft beers. Decor and furnishings way out of date, not even nostalgic. Overpriced. Guess I m glad I went once but would never return. They are really phoning it in here.
I live in North Carolina and after doing some research decided Cattlemen's was a place I had to eat when I visited OKC. It was a Saturday night and our party of 11 was told the wait would be a 1:45 which we were fine with. Then the problems started. Our wait was two and a half hours. When we finally got seated we had to keep asking for our waters to be filled, the shrimp addition to my steak was forgotten and brought out when we were half done with the meal. Overall the food was fine but not something worth waiting that long for.
We went here for breakfast as it is one of our favorite spots. The buffet has a nice selection of popular faovirtes and fresh fruit. There isn't a wait and everything is fresh.
Been going there all my life (71 years). Steaks are always great. Salad and bread are delicious. Baked potato always perfect. Our choice for special occasions.
Only 3 stars because they have yet to cook the steak to medium well. It's always red hot center. Some folks like it that way, we do not. I give them 5 stars for the steak flavor and superb service though.
We had heard from several friends how great the pizza was. They were sure right. Ate at the bar. Ty provided excellent service & the pizza was delicious as well as huge. A definite repeat.
I thought this place was great. My wife and I had a wonderful experience. The food was great as was the service. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful.
Ordered Cattleman's take out through Grub Hub. There was a little fumble on the play. The manager that was spoken to on the phone, she turned a bad situation into awesome. Limited on words in this review. JUST Believe this "THEY TREAT YOU JUST LIKE FAMILY!"
Best steak EVER! I really wished I could come close to cooking this good! It is My husband and mine Anniversary today and a great early evening dinner from Cattlemen Steak House made it perfect! Coconut cream was the BEST! YUMMY! Great service from Sylvia too!
Just ate here today and it was our first time there, coming from texas i would say this was a very good place to eat!! OUR SERVER WAS THE BEST! Her name is BEER! YUP...That is her name and she made sure everything we ordered was out perfectly! The manager was also very polite and came to make sure we were satisfied with our food!I would like to just say thank you for you GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE we will definitely be returning for another meal.
The service was great, the atmosphere was fun, and the food was good (huge portions). The house salad dressing is amazing (a garlicky ranch); the onion rings were amazing; the rolls were soft; the baked potato was served with a ton of butter; the chicken fried steak was good (the gravy was a delicious, thick country gravy; and the t-bone was perfectly cooked, but not of great quality. We recommend, as it s a fun experience!
The service was very good, Cheyenne took very good care of us & took special care of Mom who was celebrating her 85th birthday, steaks were cooked to perfection & the potato skins & mushrooms were very good. Time well spent with family
What a great steak! Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Very simple menu, but you don't need a lot of crazy choices because this is a great steak house, that makes great steak. Why else would you go there? Yes, there are a couple of other items like a chicken item, and a fish item on the menu, but this is a Steak olace, with excellent steak. And, don't forget to try the Lamb Fries.
Twice my husband and I have gone in and twice we have walked out your service is terrible and you can send us gift cards but I will give them away My grandparents and parents have been coming there for years. My family will not go back
Fantastic steakhouse that backed it up with a tender and juicy strip. The prices were a bit steep but the saloon type atmosphere, food and service was worth it. The place had a minimal beer selection and they don t take reservations, but overall I d say it was worth it. Next time I go I will get their blue ribbon steak or T-bone. Plan on going for an early dinner if you are going with a large group.
The highlight of this trip to Oklahoma. Charles that is. The food was exquisite of course, but our server was positively fabulous. And we didn't have to pay extra for the entertainment. Would come back just to play with him!
8 stars. Service was excellent the food was incredible. Steaks spot on. Rolls melt in your mouth. Lamb fries solid. I would eat here every time I am in OKC. It is a must visit!
We were extremely disappointed with the food. The steak was full of gristle. The chicken fried steak looked like grey dog food. We couldnt even eat it. The waitress and the manager tried to make it right but we were too grossed out to try anything different.
Really hated this place! The steak wasn't cooked to how I liked it, the price for the meal shouldn't have even been priced high because the steak was dry, the rolls were dry, the baked potato was just that, and the salad was PLAIN!! The waiter was sweet, but was kinda forgetful of my party. I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK HERE!!!
Went with a party of six people tonight, half of us had our steaks either under cooked or over cooked. The filet came out rare instead of medium rare nd two sirloins were medium instead of medium rare. All of us enjoyed the taste and quality of the food and cuts so we weren't completely disappointed. Additionally we enjoyed the large waiting area and bar separated from the main restraunt instead of standing outside. Next time in town I will try it again to see if the steaks not being cooked to order was a one off.
As usual, the steak is outstanding, the service is warm and friendly. I really wish they would bottle their house dressing!!! It is to die for. I always start off with an appetizer of lamb fries. Being right in the Stockyards, we are talking fresh beef. Definately worth the money.
Had about 20 min wait to be seated. Not bad at all. Only thing I didn't care for was the house salad dressing. We ordered the T-Bone. Excellently cooked to order. If not the best steak I've ever had it rates at the top. Well worth the price. Try there Margaritas they're excellent as well. Next visit to Oklahoma City, Cattlemen's is at the top of our list
Cattleman's was a very good place they served you well ask you if you needed anything very often give you everything that you asked for check to make sure you had plenty to drink had great desserts and very pleasant waitress our waiter mine was a waiter he was very good I caught him at the end of his shift but he stayed until he had served us completely with everything before he clocked out Did not get his name but was very polite and generous and if you don't have that and his service you don't have the right place to eat
Atmosphere is Best - food was ok we probably should have had the steak. Kelie our waitress was helpful and friendly. BBQ sandwich was good, croutons were really good, and coconut cream pie was tasty.
We heard this is the place to go to in Oklahoma for a steak. Unfortunately, our steaks were over cooked. We ordered the petite filet for lunch. It was half the height of any other filet I have ever had. The steak came out medium to well done and we ordered them medium rare. We were very disappointed. Our steaks had no flavor and they were over powered with blue cheese. Sadly, it was the worse steak I ever had. We did not have time for them to recook the steaks. Our server was very nice and felt bad about our meal.
The Cattlemen's Cafe is a wonderful place to eat. I understand why it has been in business 100 years. Atmosphere is warm and comfortable. Our waitress was outstanding. Our steaks were perfectly cooked. They were tender and huge. The lamb fries melted in your mouth. We drove 5 hours to eat at this place. It was well worth it. We will come back often.
Having heard only good things about this place, we were underwhelmed with the atmosphere and food quality. Our waitress was meh though attentive. We probably won't be back. Definitely authentic to Oklahoma, if only in the bad ways. It was just OK.
Absolutely love this place! Food is always fantastic and the wait staff is the best in the area. The location has great history and has earned its fame well.
OVERRATED! Don't buy into the hype out of towners. This is a 50's style diner that hasn't changed much, except for price. There are many high-end restaurants and steakhouses in OKC that serve way better food. Don't waste your time and money.
We had about an hour wait tonight. We were informed by the locals who eat there at least 4 times per year that they have never seen it this busy. That being said the wait really wasn't so bad as there is a waiting room upstairs with a bar, restrooms & plenty of seating. The time passed quickly & we had great conversations. The steaks were amazing and well worth the wait. We got our Blackberry cobbler to go.
That no doubt one of the best steaks I've eatin in a long time. And the service was perfect. Thank you Sophie you rock. We were a group of 12 and and she treated us like a group of 2 people.
Been coming for years. Always impeccable. Yes it costs money to eat steak. Yes it murders cattle. Yes I don't care. Go there and eat red meat. Try the house beer too
The atmosphere is fun, the staff was amazing and friendly. We came with a large group and they were not only able to accommodate us, but they absolutely wowed us. The ribeye and tbone steaks were superb. The place was incredibly clean and comfortable. We had a wonderful time and would return again!
we ( my son ,daughter in law and daughter and wife total of five ) on July the fifth to celebrate a birthday with a meal. service was adequate . food was poor .. my steak ( prime rib was mostly raw ( promptly sent back for some more flame ( no flavor ) .. wife's salad had a fly in it when it arrived also sent back .. when my prime rib came back it was not hot nor was potato.. rolls were not hot .. salad dressing ( supposed to be classic ) was nothing more than mayonnaise with no flavor .. pretty poor .. had no idea to whom to lodge a complaint. so this will work.. in all of the times that we have been there in the past this was the worst experience.. needless to say we won't be back.
Well there's no question this is Steakhouse is average the ambiance the old western charm near the Stockyards is what this is all about. Most high end steakhouses have chefs better good with temperature every time I've been here we found the cook temperature wrong from what most people ordered. They are always willing to fix it but it really shouldn't happen
The best service and food around! We will definitely be back and bring friends for a great steak. Also make sure you get the Coconut Cream pie even if you need to take it to go.
If you like steak and good service, this should be a regular stop when visiting OKC. Has been a part of the city's history for a long time. The wait Friday after 7pm was over two hours for party of 10. Went back Saturday @ 5 and it was about an hour. They have a large room upstairs with a bar for waiting, or outside. House salad dressing is yummy, desserts are ok. Pay the extra money for their blue ribbon special, extra aging for awesome flavor.
Worst steakhouse in the USA. Dont waste your money or time. Texas Roadhouse is better tasting and cheaper and cleaner. Way Over priced for what you get in return. You have been warned!!!
GREAT STEAKS...Giant Shrimp, Cat Fries.???? and everything ... GREAT ATMOSPHERE.....But The Service was out of this world tonight.....You Must ask for ...."BILLY JACK" is the best Waiter I have ever had... JUST an Incredible GUY...THANKS my Friend we will be BACK.....JOHN Z
Always a good time at Cattlemen's! The steaks are delicious and the service is amazing. Be sure to go during non-peak hours so that you don't have to wait long. Otherwise you'll want to take advantage of their wait area/bar upstairs.
I don't get what everyone else likes about this place. The chicken fried steak isn't fried, it's cooked on the flat top. It tasted like raw flour. The steak was probably the worst steak I've ever had. The waiter was nice though and brought us desserts because we had to wait so long. The desserts were really good.
