I m not sure what the big deal is.... Cattleman s has great reviews online, so I figured I couldn t go wrong with what seems to be an OKC dining institution. Upon entering the restaurant I was encouraged to see that it was PACKED on a Saturday afternoon! However, once seated I was a little surprised. The restaurant wasn t very clean (at least the section in which I was seated.) But the food is what matters most; yet, it was underwhelming to say the least. Assuming Cattleman s is a dining establishment renowned by most who live in OKC, I completely fail to see the attraction: the salads were meh, with the house dressing nothing more than ranch with bits of cheese and a ton of garlic added; the steaks were thin and very bland; and, surprisingly, it was evident the mashed potatoes came from a box. I could ve had a better cut, better tasting, and slightly cheaper, steak at Chili s - and I don t really care for Chili s all that much, either. So chew on that for a bit, which is what I did because of the amount of gristle on the porterhouse I ordered.

I wish I could say Cattleman s is a destination restaurant, if for no other reason than to experience the ambiance and food! However, I can t. This place was probably great in its hey-day, but today I can safely expect superior options exist in OKC.
