What a beautiful cathedral. It is so majestic with its tall ceilings, stained glass windows, bright light that shines through the windows and all the carvings that surround the church. We went to the 11:30 mass and what a beautiful mass. The organ played and the choir sang. The music just resonates throughout the cathedral. There is so much to see and take in while you are sitting there. Great place for prayer and solitude. You look around you and it's hard to believe the history of the survival of this church and what it had to endure to rebuild in order to serve its people.
Great historic site.

Amazing and so historical! I was raised Catholic and this church should be on all visitors lists as a must see. We even went to Easter mass last year there and met a lot of locals who have attended the church for years

Just like the rest of Savannah, the catholic mother church of the area (Cathedral) was absolutely amazing a must see if you are in the area. You will not be able to see it if there is mass going on so make sure you see their mass schedule but other than that you are more than welcomed to go inside and tour the chapel.

So beautiful! This is one of my favorite places to take people- Catholic or not. It's a must see stop in Savannah. If you get the opportunity for one of the mid day masses take it. They are about 30 mins and always so great!

If you are wavering on whether or not to visit the cathedral, don't miss it! The facade is imposing and interesting, but the interior is no comparison. It is simply stunning. You could spend five minutes or two hours exploring the gorgeous details of the carvings, paintings and windows. The Christmas creche is among the best I've ever seen.

The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist becomes one of the focal points for the annual St. Patrick's Day parade, which is held in Savannah on March 17th every year. There are people walking, riding in cars, army trucks, police and fire vehicles, and thousands of onlookers, too.

As a Catholic couple getting married in Savannah we inquired to have our wedding at this beautiful Cathedral. They said their fee is $3000, plus you need to provide your own priest. Should be ashamed of themselves.

2 of my 3 daughters were married here, and there's no more more beautiful place for a Catholic wedding than here. It was built hundreds of years ago, and I believe burned down and had to be rebuilt in the 1850s. But like any church built before Vatican II, it is exquisitely beautiful and traditional in appearance, unlike Catholic churches that have been built since the council.

Very beautiful also for those who may want to know it has a wheelchair accessible entrance apart from the front stair one. It was very lovely. Wish all churches had the money to do be this grand. The curator told us they meant the church to tell stories from the bible to help those who couldn't read to be able to learn it. I would go here again and recommend it.

If you are in Savannah and haven't seen this go. There is a suggested donation of three dollars, but they're not going to hound you for it. They have a drop box at the entrance/exit of the sanctuary. This is not something that you have to be Catholic or even religious to appreciate.

Absolutely breathtaking! The outside of the church is beautiful but once you walk in the stain glass windows with religious details and just the atmosphere is gorgeous. They have real candles when doing a prayer which is a very nice touch. So much history as well it truly a gem within Savannah.
