In the lake district it is an excellent place to park your motorhome or camp, it has all the facilities, a very complete tent to supply you and the best is the landscape around which is very beautiful.

This is an excellent campsite, with lovely views and clean modern facilities. We've stayed here twice and will be returning.
Minor moans: The midges can be very annoying in the evening and the otherwise lovely breakfast in Jiggers restaurant was cool and served on cold plates.

Castlrigg Hall is a fabulous site. The staff were friendly and helpful. Facilities outstanding. Covid measures fantastic. Views vary from each pitch, we had a fabulous view of lake and hills. Lovely walks from site, with amazing scenery. Did spot 3 red squirrels in the trees. Definitely be back one day.

Well, where do I start? Castlerigg, like many other campsites in the area, stay true to their values of not allowing groups at their campsite. This begs the question as to why? After being on the phone, I was told bluntly that my group of friends wouldn't be welcome to stay at this campsite. I then politely asked why this was the case? I was quickly told that this was due to previous experiences with groups, after there were numerous noise complaints. Now, I know this isn't the only campsite that has this 'rule' but even so, why should a group of adults be denied an opportunity to explore the great outdoors? In simple terms, this is discrimination because by implementing this 'rule', they are saying that all groups are the same. It's almost comical, the older generation complain that we are too obsessed with technology and don't appreciate the great outdoors but when we want to actually go away in the Lake District, we simply are told to find somewhere else. Like i said, comical. My advice to Castlerigg would be to reevaluate your ageist and discriminating policy, as it may come to a surprise but not all groups are completely inconsiderate to other campers.

Dont go here, if you have children, who like to run around and play. YES, not cause a nuisance, just run and play with other children, on the site! Or if you dont want to sit in your pod from 9pm, staring at the wall. Please dont think, you can go with friends and sit out on the decking, after 9pm.
We had a member of staff come over and complain at 9pm that the children were to loud. So we told them to come in the pods and play. But from then on, we were targed and moaned at, throughout the night. We had a few other couples, who we had gone with, sat outside on the decking, we were chatting, (yes chatting, not screaming, shouting, arguing, fighting, just chatting). And we where warned 3 times because our voices travel? We were polite and said sorry, we didn't think we were being loud. Only for the next day, to be told we have to leave!!!! We were disgusted. The children were in tears, we had promised them a little birthday, tea party with their friends there. We then spoke to the people around us, in the other pods, asked if we had been loud or kept them awake? And not one person said they could hear anything? And they were right next to us? We are not disrespectful people. And consider other people. So we were shocked to say the least. Like another person on here has put. We feel as soon as they saw we had a few people round at our pod. They didn't like us socialising. Which is what I thought most people do at a camp site? But no, not there!. You make sure you go to bed and don't have fun, speak, talk to other campers or let your children have fun? We go away frequently, and never have any problems. We are disgusted. And the children were very upset. They and we, had looked forward to going there for ages, for it all to be one massive let down.
So over all avoid if you want a nice, chilled time, with family and friends.

The most overpriced plot we have ever stayed on in 35 years of caravanning......and this was supposed to only be 'mid' season. Fabulous views of the mountains opposite (cannot see the lake if you are on the lower terraces), lovely site and beautiful toilet block (presumably more used by the campers and pods) but how can your own tap, and drain cover with a hole in it justify being 'fully serviced' and charging such an almighty premium?

I would firstly like to make it clear we did not stay on this site. We arrived the morning of 26/05/2018 and went to the campsite to see if there was any spaces, as the website specified they did not take bookings and that it was first come first serve basis. Upon driving down the drive we were greeted by an extremely rude lady who literally asked us 'what to we want' to which we replied we were looking for a parking space so we could go to reception. She then pointed to herself rudely saying 'this is reception, what do you want?' to which we answered that we were after a pitch, if there was any. She rudely laughed at us saying 'no spaces, this is a bank holiday weekend you'd be beyond lucky to get anywhere'. Then got on her walky talky and told someone that they had to stop cars coming down the drive completely. Whilst I understand that it was Bank Holiday and therefore busy, common courtesy goes a long way. Despite her lack of optimism we did find a place at Dalebottom Farm, and even if I had a chance again I would rather give my money to them, rather than pay for the rude staff's wages at this site. Train your staff in customer service skills. (Just to make it clear also, there was two of us, one male and one female, so it isn't like we would of been breaking the group rule at all)

I have been visiting Castlerigg for 23 years and have no intentions of stopping. I have been in a touring caravan, static caravan and camp there too. It has changed alot since i first started going but for the better. The staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpful, facilities are great and the park is always clean and tidy. looking forward to the next 23 years and more hopefully

Campsite with a view! Absolute gem of a campsite only a 1.5 mile walk away from Keswick. (Up quite a steep hill on the return walk but it is the Lake District after all!)
The campsite has stunning views of Catbells and Derwentwater and is beautifully maintained. The facilities are excellent and very clean. Would definitely stay here again.

From the easy to use booking system, to the wonderful welcome from Bronwyn, we cannot rate this site high enough. As caravan club members for 20 years we took a gamble on a private site and it exceeded our expectations on every level.
Superb setting, well thought out prestine facilities and grounds.
Lovely campshop not overpriced and Jiggers bar & restaurant was a complete bonus.
We initially booked for three nights but stayed on extra, as we were so pleased.

Thank you to all at Castlerigg, keep up the good work, we can t wait to return.

This is one of our favourite sites, we have been coming a couple of times a year for the past 12 years, the views are amazing even in the rain, lovely walks direct from site and the 555 bus runs regularly from the end of the lane

Fantastic site, very well kept grounds, with a well stocked shop. Facilities are very good with clean showers that have ample room to wash, and a separate private area to get dressed again. As far as views go.... They are some of the best I've seen on a site!

The fact that this was my sixth visit means I think the park is the best one near keswick or even Cumbria, well run, nice staff perfect setting, it is also worth noting that family who own castlerigg are very forward thinking and are looking to the future, we had a fantastic holiday and rebooked for next year. Quality is everything and with top service. Priceless

Very clean and well maintained campsite, and nice views of the area, but really too expensive for what is being offered. In addition, hair dryers, microwaves and hot plates all require extra payment, and there is even a charge incurred for parking. I've stayed in a lot of campsites in the past couple years and this was easily one of the more expensive, which is a shame - it really would be a very nice place to stay if the pricing was more reasonable.

Brilliant campsite. Love how eco friendly it is and great for wildlife. We've camped in a tent here 3 times and this year was our first time in a pod. We love it here. Really friendly and helpful staff - and they won the best Cumbrian campsite this year - much deserved!

Stayed in our caravan on serviced pitch with lovely views over Derwentwater & open views across the site from our van on pitch 39. Grassed areas well kept & toilet block spotless. Staff pleasant & helpful. Enjoyed a bacon roll & coffee in the Gallery where the young lady was very pleasant & chatty.nice to see an open area for chldren to play in the middle of the site without being a nuisance to other caravaners/campers. The camping field also looked well kept. There is a steep bank to some lower pitches which i would prefer to avoid but im sure we will now use this site many more times & recommend to our friends.

This site is without doubt the best I have stayed on. Having a premium pitch for our Motorhome was maybe the deciding factor; The view is superb.
A very clean well kept site with included WiFi and all other amenities. The staff also were polite and helpful, We would happily return here.

Lovely campsite with excellent facilities (shop, toilet block, campers kitchen) and a bar and restaurant on site. Great views over Derwent Water towards Catbells. Keswick is a short walk down into the town (20 minutes). The return journey is slightly more challenging as it is uphill all the way. The local taxi services are pretty good at getting you back for a not unreasonable fee. If you really want some stunning views then it's just a short walk up to Walla Crag for a commanding view over Derwent Water.

Great camping place here has all the facilities you need and even some you don't, the facilities are usually free or cost 50p a token it's really high quality and it's in the heart of Keswick what more could you want? And if you're camping you get a free campers kitchen with toaster kettle microwave (50p) and hob(50p) and it is warm so when we went camping in November we stayed in there till 10pm when it closed

This is a gem of a campsite. Pitches for vans and camper vans are well set out and sheltered. Views over the lake are stunning. It s an easy walk down into town via the road or through the woods if you fancy better views of Catbells. Steep hill coming back so be prepared! Great, clean, warm facilities, lovely little well stocked shop as well. Tends to very busy at weekends so make sure you book in advance. First stay here a couple of weeks ago on our way to see the Solheim Cup, but we will be back next time we re in the Lakes.

Good location, great views, friendly people, impeccably well equipped and maintained, and fairly priced. It is very much a family friendly campsite, with an 'all quiet' time of 22:30, so not really one for all night partying!

You might like to know that there are rabbits everywhere which is fun for the kids but torment for some dogs.

We were looking at potential sites to take our tent to in the Keswick area and would have considered this place as a candidate, but this site doesn't take advance bookings for non hook-up tents for some reason.

We live a 2-hour drive away and would have loved to have tried this site. However, due to their bizarre "no advance bookings" rule, we cannot take the chance on making a long journey to risk being turned away because the site is already full.

Stayed at castlerigg Hall campsite in April 19. What a fabulous site! The pitches are a good size and lots have stunning views over derwentwater. The views are to die for!! The facilities are second to none. Plenty of clean toilets and hot showers. Nice little vanity rooms with plenty of room for dressing. There is a kitchen with a nice eating area, microwaves, sinks etc. A little shop also on Site for necessities. The staff were so polite and very helpful and allowed us a little extra time at the end of our stay, as our next site was only 3 miles away and wouldn't let us arrive till 1pm. Just outside the site is a little pub. There are two walks through the woods with fab views right down into Keswick which is a half hour walk down and 2 hours back up! Worth getting the taxi ride for a fiver! Would most definitely recommend this site and will be back again later this year

Excellent & well managed site. We stayed in one of new Hex pods. Built, cleaned and finished to a high standard, with a lovely view across Keswick towards Catbells from the balcony. 20 min walk into Keswick and well positioned for local walks. The camp shop is well stocked if you've forgotten anything. Totally recommended - would return.

A nice place to camp when you visit the lake district in UK. They have a separate spot for those who have their caravan with them and for those who just bring tents. And also you can choose to rent some camping pods if you don't want to hassle yourself in bringing your tents.

Terraced pitches that overlook lake Derwent & the hills of Cat Bells. One of the best caravan sites we have ever used, hence why this was the 11th year on the bounce of visiting and booked again for next year. The owners always investing in the site and the shower facilities are 5*

Really great site. Excellent facilities and the best view of Derwent Water. Hard standing pitches all have own water and electric hook up. 1.5 walk from town and definitely a taxi ride back up the hill if you have enjoyed too much of the local Keswick pubs. The staff are all very welcoming and attentive. Highly recommended

A beautiful, large, well staffed, equipped and maintained caravanning and camping site next to Walla Crags, overlooking Derwent water.
Facilities plentiful, of good quality, and well and frequently cleaned.
You can easily walk to Keswick through the woods. If you cycle, getting back up to Castlerigg from Keswick is a bit of a slog but doable.
There are lots of walking trails around, and everywhere you look it's just stunning views.

Very good site, good space between Caravans, toilet/shower blocks very clean and nice to see enough of each for all.
View over the lake is beautiful and is worth the walk you have to take down to Keswick.
Booked for next year!
