The staff was wonderful and the food in the T-bar Pub was excellent. However the snowboarding was dismal. Maybe it's because it's the last day of the year but the runs were rough lumps of ice covered in snow.

Went skiing for the first time ever here and have nothing but praise for them! The atmosphere is great the staff are polite, friendly and helpful. The Snow School program is outstanding and the rental shop staff are very insightful. Instructors Havi (not sure on spelling) and Amy I would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to learn the sport. I had difficulties at first of course being new and my ski boots didn't quite fit right, even leaving my lesson early but all the staff I dealt with were willing to help me as best as they could and turned my slightly doubtful first experience into better than what I figured it would be, once getting my boots adjusted I went back to the snow school program to sign up for the afternoon class, they were completely booked but asked multiple instructors and found me one (Amy) who was willing to give me an hour before her lesson and they wouldn't charge me. Within half an hour Amy had me on the green lift and went down multiple times. After my hour was up I went down multiple other times with my boyfriend and had more confidence in it than I figured I would. For the first time ever being out to a ski hill I couldn't be more happy with my experience and look forward to going back for years to come!

Beautiful area with great scenery. The resort staff were great but there were some issues with a number of the chalets we stayed it. The staff did their best to ensure we were taken care of. Great place for a weekend getaway.

Great snow, no line-ups. Multiple large warming tents set up at the base in addition to the regular lodge. Maybe more crowds for Christmas, buy your ticket in advance online, limited capacity. Season and WOW card pass holders are exempt, though.

No cellular service is available. But you're coming to ski. For that it's great. A dedicated chair lift for the bunny hill. Long runs often extend the whole length of the hill. Reasonable food and ticket price. Limited lift capacity makes for long lineups on the weekends. Cat skiing options.

I didn't ski but hung out in the lodge but according to my kids the snow was great! I found that charging $4 for a coffee is a bit steep. Find its all very pricey so was glad we brought our own food!

I have been taking my group here for the past 4 years and will keep coming back. This year I worked Hamish to get tickets, rentals and lessons. He went to great lengths to ensure we were well taken care of and that we got the best pricing possible. I love the hill but the pleasant experience I continue to have with the individuals who work there make it the wonderful place it is!

The hidden jewel of Alberta!
This place can be amazing and very difficult at the same time. Not a hill I would suggest for people starting out or faint of heart.
For experienced powder loving individuals this is a must try place. The snow blows off the backside of the mountain settling on all the runs.
Staff is good and the food is typically a little pricey.

Very beautiful scenery. Cabins are very nice to stay in and usually a good size that a couple families could rent one together. Lots of hiking and exploring to be done during the summer. Good skiing in the winter.

The hill is always maintained very well, the is great. My only complaint is they are completely overpriced with their food there! Never have seen a poutine for $15 until I went there although the portion size is not too shabby and the poutine itself is good I still disagree paying that much. Day passes are pretty cheap considering going to other mountains in BC. pretty sure it's $90 a day but great Mountain tons of runs and it's always maintained very well.

Of all the places I've skied, Castle is definitely my favourite. The hill is expansive, and has diverse terrain, despite being a smaller resort. On a powder day, you can ski dozens of runs through the Bowl, which is serviced by the very well-placed Red Chair so you don't need to spend any time skating along traverses.
You can also venture farther afield and explore the North Bowl or the Chutes. The Chutes are my personal favourites, I don't think I've ever skied anywhere that had such long, wide open runs with such consistently steep slope. There's a pretty long traverse from the Chutes back to the base, but its all down hill, so you don't need to do any pushing.
The lifts are pretty ancient (a triple and then a double chair to get to the top), but they are well placed, and there aren't often long lines to get on them. The winds ca get quite high up top; occasionally there are gusts high enough that they have to shut down the Red Chair (the double that services the top), but usually only for 15 minutes to a half hour.
What more is there to say? There's a fair amount of nice, on-hill accommodation, a pretty nice little community, and, as with anywhere in the Rockies, it is pretty beautiful. Castle Mountain is a pretty special place, but don't tell anyone about it, let's keep it our little secret!

This Ski Hill is a hidden gem. Escape the crowds amd tourists of Banff and Lake Louise. Sure their lifts are older and slower but you will not be standing in line at any one of them and the drive from Calgary is just as long if not shorter than the drive to Lake Louise, especially if you live in South Calgary. More importantly when they receive a dump of snow it doesn't get all tracked out within a day like the big hills do

Great skiing, good place for families, many different options for all skill levels. Bunny hill is a small chair lift with runs that have varying degrees of difficulty. Nice place to learn and practice for beginners.

One of my favourite resorts! I've been a regular to Castle for the last 10 years and have always appreciated the local/non-commercialized feel. The main mountain provides steeper-than-average terrain, and I've always said that if you learn to ride at Castle, you can ride any terrain at any other resort. Haig Mt (accessed by Huckleberry Chairlift at the base) is also a great area for Beginner-Intermediate riders. As a result of this second mountain, visitors are well spread across the mountain and the lines are typically very quick.
There are no lockers available to the public, however there is plenty of public cubby shelves to stash personal equipment. I've never had an issue with stolen equipment in the lodge during the 10 years that I've been visiting here, but the parking lot is very close to the lodge if there is a need to lock items in your vehicle.

A great day on the slopes today! Skiing was most enjoyable and the wind even behaved itself Lots of technical runs at this hill but also plenty to do for beginners and intermediates! Prices for lifts and rentals etc are cheaper by comparison and the resort itself is smaller, not as commercial and has a laid back vibe it is advisable if there for multiple days (or on a budget) to pack your own lunches as restaurant food prices are pretty steep Regardless, have enjoyed many a great day on the slopes skiing over the past 35 years and if into mountain biking/hiking...great trails to explore in the summertime!

Pretty decent. The cabin we rented was nice, but the bunk beds were pretty uncomfortable. The faculties are rustic, but nice, probably what you want anyways. If you were skiing and renting here it would be pretty amazing.
To clarify, in response, we didn't stay at the hostel, we stayed in one of the lodges, one of the rooms contained two bunk beds, the other had a full bed.

Amazing powder and some lovely runs. The lifts are old and slow - watch yourself getting on. Not a reason not to go and enjoy a wonderful day. And love the lifties. Enjoy the hug offered by the women you wish were your mom/grandma.

Small hill with great snow! We came here for a day after a week of skiing in Fernie and the snow was much better here. It's very windy up top which leaves fresh snow on the runs even if it hasn't snowed in a while. It's not very busy, we came on a Saturday and there were hardly any lines. The lifts belong in a museum but they do the job. I would recommend visiting for a day or two
