This mansion is also called Palacio de Linares. It is in very good condition and in fact the decoration of some rooms is very surprising. Virtually no furniture. It is worth the visit which is guided, for which you have to buy tickets in advance.

I loved it, it's a beautiful place. Not only has history, also a cafeteria that is a real charm. It organizes events, I had the pleasure of attending the awards ceremony of the V Centennial of the first round the world organized by the Navy.
The Palacio de Linares is a beautiful legacy of a family that got rich in Cuba, gets access to the Spanish nobility. It has a mysterious story. The building is majestic and you can see that they spared nothing in the budgets of the time
This Cultural and Business Centre for the Americas has an extensive programme of events, presentations, cinema....
It is housed in the impressive Palacio de Linares, one of the few palaces still standing on the Castellana and it had to be saved from demolition ! See Palacio de Linares for details of guided tours.
TIP: If you go to the cinema here, make sure it's paid entry. We made a mistake the other night and went to a free one. Never again ! It's the Ryanair psychosis of queuing. Tickets are available from 6pm for a performance at 7pm. Everyone comes early for tickets and then has to hang around. There's a waiting list /(once they've run out) for tickets set aside for the 'elite' (enchufados). We did get in but couldn't sit together. Neither an efficient nor democratic ticketing system.
Located in an excellent area especially if you move in that area, very frequent for travelers since you have next to avenue of america, confluence of meters and buses. The place specializes in grilled meats are very good and the meat is quite fresh, the price goes up a bit with the drink, the serivio very well and the bathroom very clean
The guided tour of the Palacio de Linares is an experience. A histrionic mix of history, anecdotes and theater. It is highly recommended. The guide actors are entertaining, friendly and very knowledgeable.
AWESOME. It is a sight worth seeing, very fun and entertaining. They make you part of that era and countless experiences. You can't miss it if you are in Madrid.
Rear of the palace of Linares. It offers interesting free exhibitions in a small and not very well known space. It has a lovely patio with a very nice restaurant bar
Visit theatricality very well organized. The visit is developing from less to more. Very participatory. The state of conservation is acceptable. Most of the furniture is missing, which has disappeared.
An impressive palace! I had the opportunity to record a small concert in this place and it was an honor. From the very hospitable staff who work there to the impressive architecture of the place. Not to mention that it cannot be in a better location. I have seen that they organize many cultural activities so it is a place to visit in Madrid, for tourists as well as locals.
Nice place with free expos and a tranquil and friendly atmosphere. Would dearly recommend the lovely cafeteria there, with its velvety couches and terrific A/C on hot days.
Magnificent palace of the nineteenth century, former Palace of Linares. A magnificent evening with a conference on the music of the Baroque in Latin America, dictated by Isabel Palacios, a Venezuelan musician. It is worth visiting in guided tour.
Great site with great programming of all kinds. From cinema, to literature, politics, social sciences, technology, communication. I have always got something useful when I visited this institution.
t is by Cibeles is the most beautiful fountain of Madrid (there are a lot of them, basically at each roundabout). The supporters of Real Madrid gather here to celebrate their victories (lately they haven't had much to celebrate). It is also closed when there is a celebration so you can leave your bathing suit at home. :)
The place is nice, but it was quite hot and in the area where we were, none of the fans worked. The catering is normal, they have some snacks that are rich but most are normal, the soft drinks are powdered like in a McDonald's. I don't know if it's ice or the cleaning of the glasses, but even without drinking alcohol, it left my mouth with that feeling of pastiness. The public is 40 years old and above on average.
In the first half of the nineteenth century, Francisco Mateo de Murga y Michelena, a rich Basque financier, had an extramarital scuffle with the tobacconist Benita Ortega y Arregui, from whom Raimunda Osorio and Ortega was born.
Between 1877 and 1900, they built the Palacio de Linares on an old cereal warehouse. The works cost three million pesetas ( 18,000), a real fortune for the time.
The couple got a "casti convivere" bull from Pope Pius IX that allowed them to continue their marriage as long as they had no offspring. Legend has it that a daughter was born from marriage, "Raimundita", who lived walled inside the palace to prevent anyone from knowing her existence. The girl did not reach adolescence and was buried in the palace gardens.
The palace was never used again as a residence and in 1992 it was inaugurated as the current House of America.
Nice terrace located in the Garden of the house of America. It has a bar area, low tables to have an aperitif or snack and a more secluded area prepared for celebrations. Negative point: there is only 1 waiter, so the service is slow, and it is not efficient. Positive point: the price is affordable, 2.40 / soft drink.
I loved it. I highly appreciate its restoration. Don't forget that there was a time when this building was totally abandoned, waiting to be demolished, and replaced by some monstrous modern building.
An Audit of Artistic Content would be good, when I went in July of 2018 the samples about Latin America did not reflect the reality, they showed rather negative real aspects, ignoring the positive ones, far from encouraging tourism and informing a European that is Latin America. Art is free, but there are also vested interests: between reciprocal tourism between Spain and Argentina. Greetings.
In the Plaza Cibeles, it is responsible for ensuring the cultural integration of Spain and America. It has two exhibition halls of both American and Spanish authors, it also has a movie theater where they screen mostly Latin films
