You might as well just stay home and die on your couch because YOU WILL NOT GET THE PROPER CARE WHAT SO EVER!!! I was in a hit and run car accident and didn't even get to see a doctor!!! No xrays!!! I was unable to hold anything down and in pain. They didn't check my stomach. I was crying because I was in so pain and the nurse asks me if I have allergies. Don't waste your time. Go to another hospital even if you have to drive farther.

I went to the emergency room today with back pain...I could not walk...all the staff was very respectful and professional!...they were great and asked all the correct questions to find a way to help me...I needed help to sit and to get in bed...I only had to wait a few hours and I given the shots and drugs for the pain and the physical therapist were wonderful and help get me walking again!...I don't know what I could of done without their help...And they also had back problems in their lives and therefore were very understanding....god bless them all!

I am incredibly upset with this hospital and in particular the unethical way they treated my 103 year old mother. As my mom was getting better and close to being able to go to a skilled nursing/rehab facility my sister-in-law and I were asked to chose a few facilities we liked by her insurance company. There was a clear #1 choice, Foothill Rehab, and a second in case it was full. But!!! We were not informed that she was ready to be released and WERE ONLY TOLD MY MOM WAS RELEASED WHEN SHE WAS ENROUTE TO THE WRONG FACILITY!! This caused undue upset for my mom...again a woman who is totally lucid but 103!!! The Case Management employees at St Joseph took NO responsibility and actually lied to me. I am reporting this ethical breach to Tenet Healthcare, her treating physician and Medicare!

No real help was provided other than the bare minimum checks. One nurse was great but the rest were far from great. And to top it off no help was provided and our paperwork was filled improperly which began an eight month process getting my sons birth certificate and SSN figured out. I take responsibility for aspects of things but there should be much more assistance. Then when I called to discuss these things with the L & D records I was basically told to deal with it and no apology was provided. If it weren t for our OBGYN being here we would absolutely 100% go elsewhere in the future.

I had surgery Tuesday December 1st 2020 at 8am. I had the best experience. This is my 4th surgery at St Joseph hospital and frankly I will not go anywhere else and I live in Red Rock. The compassion everyone gives truly makes me feel cared for. Starting with the nurse that gave me a sponge bath before the surgery, she made sure I was warm after, she brought me a warm blanket and literally tucked me in. Mike was the nurse who started my IV, he was down on his knees and did such a great job, I felt no pain and he left no bruising. Jenifer with one N was so sweet. The nurse I failed to get her name who was entering all my info was such a great nurse, very thorough and nice. I hope that with my date and time of my surgery, you will recognize those who helped me that morning because they truly are an asset to St Joes. Thank you.

So I work at a different hospital in town and I go to St. Joseph's. It is also the farthest hospital from my home, but I always go there because I know I'll receive excellent patient care.

Once when I had abdominal pain, I went to supposedly "better" hospital emergency room. There was a room full of people (they were sitting on the floor it was so crowded). The receptionist gave me a bucket and told me wait, she couldn't say how long. I immediately left and went to St. Joseph's. As soon as I got there, they took my vitals and because they were crowded too, they hooked me up to an IV to give me fluids while sitting on the bench. THAT is patient care. I've returned ever since for any issue I've ever had.

I don't care if they aren't the fanciest or don't have high profile doctors, they are fast at taking care of their patients and that's what matters when you're in pain.

My friend's 40 yo daughter insisted on being transported to St Joseph's after collapsing at the grocery, and being told she had a panic attack. She knew this was not true; however after many hours at the hsp, and testing, the conclusion was the same. Her mother took her to another hsp where she was diagnosed as having a stroke, related to a birth heart issue. She described her care at St Joseph's as uncaring and dismissive

Always had great! Experiences with doctors, nurses, and techs. I always was taken care of. You just have to be patient. There are alot of other patients. They cannot be everywhere at once. Doctors and nurses are not magicians. Priority comes first. Be grateful.

Worst hospital I've been too by far. It's obvious they want to make money and get people out as quick as possible but this place doesn't even try to hide that. Waited 9 hours in ER waiting room whilst puking blood for them to simply run a blood test say I'm fine and refuse to run any other tests. They didn't hesitate to send me a hefty bill though. Hundreds of dollars and I had less then one minute of interaction with an actual doctor

I went to the ER with chest pains around 730pm. We were brought in for vitals and a quick EKG right away and told to wait in the waiting room. We were told the IV and labs had been ordered and we would be called very soon. We sat in the waiting room for three and a half hours as people who arrived after us came and went. Once we were taken to the back I was sat in a chair in the hallway. It took another 45 min before the IV guy finally came. He tried once and missed, then removed his supplies and asked another "tech" if he could do it because he "didn't want to make me go through more than one poke" 40 min later the other tech never came so we asked if we could just leave. We ended up walking out because no one seemed to care. We have had to come here several times in the past few years and it is always the same. We plan on staying at least 5-8 hours if we have an Emergency and that is just to get seen by the doctors nurse!

My 90 yr old mother came in at 0930 with chest pains. Over 4 hours and we are still waiting to get a room and see a dr. However they were VERY QUICK about asking for insurance and payment information. NO ONE IS FRIENDLY. I really think they forgot who signs their paychecks. Patients are customers and customers pay the bills for employees, not the other way around. The consensus is that they are doing us a favor. Please deliver better customer service. Maybe you don t have enough docs on staff because you are not an A+ hospital. We will never come here again. My parents, family, and friends deserve better care.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Having a baby is supposed to be a wonderful experience and it was one of the worst experiences for my 17 year old daughter and me that we've ever had first one of the nurses in triage treat her like crap because she was 17 second when we finally got into the labor and delivery and it took the anesthesiologist and hour and it attempts to give her the epidural. Once we got up to recovery every time my daughter asked for a nurse to come in for something for pain or something for nausea because she was throwing up it took the nurses an hour and a half to two hours to come in and help her I do not recommend going to Tt Joseph's to have have a baby.

this hospital is alright and the service good and very kind, however, having my friend in the hospital is kinda hard on us and just to call this hospital to see if she's alright because I'm about 2 and a half hours away of where the hospital is,I can't always visit. It's hard enough that she is in a

Took my spouse who is disabled for outpatient procedures. Very long wait times for registration. Employees passing through have zero interest in trying to help such as "am I in the right area". No one available for help, no wheelchairs available with no assistance for an incredibly long walk, with his walker (I use a cane) he could only ambulate a short distance without having to stop. As a retired hospital Administrator myself, I was extremely disappointed in the level of care available. The level of cleanliness would not have been acceptable at my hospital. I informed his primary care doctor that no future referrals could be made there.

Literally the worst EMERGENCY ROOM I walked in. It was so dirty & unorganized. Staff was just random and didn t know things. The doctor on at the time decided they didn t want to help me and sent me to labor and delivery side and then the doctor there was so freaking rude and grumpy. It took two to three hours to even been seen or get an IV. Also come to find out they charged me completely wrong not even as emergency to where insurance will not pay for it. Told my insurance It was a random appointment at the labor and delivery. I suppose this hospital doesn t care if you have concerns on if you re baby is alive or not. As saying the wait times and lying doctors. I would never recommend this hospital. Good luck if you have to go here. Hope you re not dying you will not get the help you need.

St. Joseph s became a level 1 trauma center. Y all are not equipped and too small of a hospital for that. It s too much. TMC would have been a better choice for a level 1. Staffed is overworked here and they continuously have patients laying in a gurney IN the HALLWAY for HOURS on end. It used to be a good decent hospital but will now be taking my dad else where. They didn t even really explain what was wrong with him, just sent him home still clueless.

Went to Southern Az Urgent Care. Was told to go to St Joseph's Hospital because they thought that I was biting by a black widow. I get there hand them my discharge papers and register. 3 hours in I am still waiting. They were taking in people who came in much after I did. Granted one person came in with breathing and chest pains. I understand that. But a lady with a bum knee goes before a venomous spider bite? Really? Intake women was very short and brief stern like. Receptionist is clueless. I would not recommend going there. Unless you have alot of time you wanna waste. TMC. Is where to go.

I had an amazing experience with this hospital! From the ER to my room 214, staff was so nice, Dr were informative, I would have taken better care of my self, had I had this care early in life!!!! Thank you so much! Cheryl Brown

I went to the hospital after experiencing pain in my back and leg along with weakness and numbness in my hands and feet. I didnt want to go in the first place because I was told Tucsons healthcare is a failure. I went because I have to young children and was told by my Doctor to go. I had already been in the process of seeing a neurologist and having a MRI a week prior but no results as of tonight. They placed me in a small waiting room and came to draw blood. Four hours later the Doctor checks my back and tells me that I'm short of breath and attempts to explain to me how I feel...no testing was done at all. I hope that my results from my Doctor don't come back abnormal otherwise I will take action against this health facility.

I had to give 1 star review because there is nothi...

I had to give 1 star review because there is nothing lower I'm allowed to give for Carondolet St. Joseph s Hospital. I had a hysterectomy scheduled for February 26th. Potential cancer stuff and I would like take care of my health. I was scheduled for surgery on Friday, the 26th of February. During this week, I was very stressed on the notion of being sedated and cut open for a major surgery. I receive constant badgering for a co-payment. In a 4 day span before the surgery, the hospital called me a total of 34 times for payment. I answered the phone 9 of the times. I kept telling them to bill me for the payment; I am dealing with my health right now.
After answering all of their pre-op questions, the next questions were for payment and the only mount conveyed to me was $5500, the total deductible. I repeatedly ask them for my copay because co-pay and deductible are 2 separate words. However the only amount I was ever told was $5500. I have not had many major medical needs, but when I did, my insurance paid their percentage and I was sent a bill after the procedure, usually a few weeks after I recovered. Sometimes I would pay in full, sometimes, if the amount is large, other hospitals would happily accept a payment plan. St. Joseph wanted payment in FULL, upfront.
I called the billing department the Tuesday before my surgery to try to set up a payment plan in an attempt to subdue these numerous phone calls I was getting from St. Joseph s for payment. Sadly, the billing department at St. joseph s said I'm sorry I can't do that until after services are rendered . They stated they cannot bill me because they will not know what the bill is until all services are rendered.
Tuesday was also my original date for my Covid test. The hospital called me and said they made a mistake and I need to take another test. I had to go back for another on Thursday, 15 hours BEFORE my scheduled sergury. This makes me suspicious of the hospital because I am aware COVID tests take longer than 15 hours to determine.
The amount of unprofessionalism and greed of Carondolet St. Joseph s Hospital are ridiculous,This hospital could not even get my personal information and emergency contacts correct. This hospital had my mom listed as my daughter and they called my aunt looking for my significant other, who is actually my emergency contact. Investigating their information further, I found they had an email contact for me that I did not recognize. They sure knew my number though
I did offer a small payment prior to the surgery to get them to stop harassing me. Finances at this point in time have been rough due to COVID everywhere and the fact I just moved to a new home and everyone knows the expenses involved with moving. They refused my payment.
The fact I spend money every month out of pocket for health insurance makes no difference when I need health care. It does not matter if insurance is prepared to pick up $25,000USD in overpriced health care costs, If this hospital passes judgement on you that you are a customer who appears to be of financial means to pay in ADVANCE, they will work diligently to try to extort the insurance difference PRIOR to the procedure. It s almost like they want their money first, because they fear you may die on their tables and want to make sure they are paid. If you do not pay in ADVANCE, Carondolet St. Joseph s hospital will show you the door. They did me.

Update:
3 days after the hospital cancelled my surgery, I received a call from the Pima County health Department asking me about any symptoms I had related to my Covid diagnosis. This was all to my surprise as no one told me I had Covid. As it turns out, I had a Covid test performed by Carondolet St. Joseph s Hospital 5 day prior and 2 days prior to my scheduled and then cancelled surgery. AS I had no symptoms, nor have I ever had symptoms, It came to my surprise that for one, I am being notified by the County Health Department first, instead of my supposed caregiving facility and second, being that I had no symptoms and haven t been sick

I was in St. Joseph hospital for three days in June and also three days in August . In both instances I had been placed on the neuro unit. I want to say thank you to all of the nursing staff, and doctors and the patient care techs for all of their hard work. I was treated with respect and confident that they were taking excellent care of me. Thank you. Kathy S.

The black dude nurse in red is amazing! He is very attentive and nice to everyone. He saw my situation and made sure to get me processed correctly and quickly. 3 stars because the Doctor I finally saw seemed like she was burnt out and didn't really care about my situation. Would have given 5 stars if Doctor was a little more understanding of my situation. But seriously, that nurse dude was spot on!

Just go to TMC where you can find someone who actually cares. St Joseph's is likely to blame you for your illness, and they will make you wait because they'd rather chit chat than do their jobs. Just skip this place.

As to "We'd like to follow up with you", we did, over a year ago, and you did nothing. The only thing you did right was turn me over to another hospital when I complained and threatened to sue. The other hospital (bannor) was fine.

Emergency room staff treats you like you are a great big bother. There are NO call buttons in emergency room. Screaming for help produced no results. They wanted me to stay overnight...I took a taxi home. My nurse sucked!!!!!!!

The staff and the hospital itself is good. This re...

The staff and the hospital itself is good. This review is specifically for the billing department and the process itself. The hospital tried to justify billing me over $3000 when I didn t even stay the night and never saw a medical doctor. They never even disclosed how much I would owe during the visit. I attempted to ascertain how much I will be billed, the man who took my insurance card refused to give me any information. When I pressed him He said I did not owe anything. Boy was he wrong.

Another thing you may not know is that the hospital will do its best to maximize your bills based on your deductible. That means if you deductible is $3000 they will coordinate your bill with the insurance company and do their best to bill you as much of that deductible as possible.
You probably also did not know that if you visit St. Joseph s Hospital you will get two bills in the mail after your visit. One bill is from the hospital and one bill is from the doctors who saw you at the hospital. So let s say for example you were there for only two hours you ll get two bills. I promise you your bill will be no less than $1000. You re better off going to the urgent care because Overthere they will quote you how much is gonna cost you upfront. St. Joseph s is dishonest, they up charge and upcode every visit from level one so they can charge you more. If I ever get sick again I m either going to die at home or not go to the hospital. But I m never coming back here again.

I have spoken to the hospital billing department several times. Several times about how unfair these bills are. They are relentless and greedy. I was taken to collections and they hired loan sharks to threaten to ruin my credit.

Wonderful -- the best -- hospital in Tucson. Don't let the oldness of the building fool you; They have the most up-to-date technology, their staff (cleaning to nurses to technologists to doctors) are by FAR the most responsive and kindest, and the rooms are very nice. I will never, ever go anywhere else.

E.R. Patient - I'm still very new to Tucson and I have yet to come around to getting a regular physician. But I recently saw the doctor and he was very helpful for the time, I was in for a possible UTI and some back problems. They did a culture test and sent me home after they had given me a shot and some pain killers. Later that night I was rushed back due to severe back pain (worst feeling in my life kind of pain) and they disregarded my trip there earlier that day. They gave me 3 pain killers and basically sent me home telling me they couldn't do anything for me. I waited 3 days and my culture results were to be complete and they gave me a paper with a lot of information that I couldn't comprehend, so I explained to the emergency room that I didn't have a regular physician and asked if a doctor could review my results with me, (which they promised to call me and review it over the phone in the first place). The nurse took my papers and asked another nurse if she could get a doctor to review it and the nurse just laughed and sent the other nurse back to tell me to wait to come back at 7 in the morning to see a doctor after they gossiped about how someone is getting married, as if I hadn't wasted enough gas, time, or money trying to find out what's wrong with me. For 5 days I found myself going back and forth and I'm still awaiting results, a call, or anything. This hospital is really testing my patience and I would avoid this place at all costs. There have been few times when I've left this ER content, but this is where I draw the line.

Came in with facial trauma from bad VR experience. Took over an hour before pain meds. 3 hours before neurological exam. Staff did not inform us of anything we had to ask three different times what s going on? Over a 7 hour period.

I wanted to get checked cause I thought I was having liver problems and so since I was there I wanted also wanted to be checked for hep and hiv cause I haven t been checked in nearly 10 years and I waited 5 hours for just a bloodwork test and it didn t have Have the results I wanted and they wouldn t help me charge my phone so once I got out I had to walk 5 miles home

Came to this hospital for a surgical procedure. First let me say the pre-op nurse was fantastic probably the best I have ever run into and I really liked the anesthesiologist and nursing staff and lab tech they were top notch. So why the low review? The intake area which is also the waiting room was gross, very dirty. I was asked for a urine sample and had to go into the waiting room bathroom which was even worse, grimy floor, trash on the floor, over flowing trash can and I would not have put a child down on that changing table for any reason. Then I was asked to hand the urine sample over the front reception counter over paperwork, the phone etc.. I mentioned the restroom needed attention and some TP. Once I was in the back, the back area was much cleaner but room I was in was so narrow the tech who came in to do my IV had to move the bed out sideways just to get to my arm (and he was squished against the wall not an easy way to try and access an IV so kudos to him) and it left no room for the nurse to reach the computer. The gurney had obviously hit the wall repeatedly and there was a piece of painted particle board on the wall which was gouged down to raw wood and therefore impossible to keep sanitary. There is no separate family waiting area so my husband stayed out front the entire time. He said people were coming in out with food, drinks, some obviously sick and mixing in with preop patients and doctors were coming out to talk to families after procedures and doing so in front of everyone. The bathroom was never touched. A week or two after surgery I called to have my pathology samples released to the cancer center and then sent to the military so they could be accessed once we move and was told oh you can't have them they are our property. Since I have had five surgeries in five different states I have never had an issue with my path cassettes being released to the military so this was a first. I asked them where that was in the paperwork I signed that they now "owned" (the hospitals words not mine) my pathology cassettes. It's not. So they were paid, the pathologist (separate group) was paid but the samples will not be released to the military for me to continue my care. I won't ever go back to this hospital for any reason and when asked by our military community for recommendations I will most definitely send them elsewhere.

We came in for the birth of our son. The staff themselves are very good. A few have questionable bedside manner but for the most part they were all very good. The food is absolutely horrible!! My gf received her dinner one evening while I was holding our son. I didnt think anything of it. A few min went by and I told her that the baby must have pooped. She said she had just opened her tray..... The baby had not had a stool it was seriously the food. The morning of her dinner I went down to the cafeteria to grab a bite to eat while she was nursing. I had the usual eggs, bacon, sausage, hash brown (which are actually potato wedges) and an OJ. I went to the checkout and was told $12!!! That is insane for breakfast food, especially crappy hospital breakfast food. I remember back home in Illinois when I ate breakfast at the hospital it was $3-$4 for that exact meal and was actually decent food. Now for $12 I could have went to an actual diner and got good food for abt half that maybe a little more. They dont even allow the patient to choose their food anymore. They just show up with whatever they decide is to eat. My gf doesnt eat eggs so all she got to eat was a small bowl of cereal. I had to go get her some actual food so she could eat. This to me is unacceptable. Im not saying you should put steak and lobster on the menu but a little variety and decent food would be nice.

My wife had a major surgery at this facility.
The surgeon Thoracic surgeon was awesome.
The nurses except 1 were disengaged at best. In 3.5 days the nurses never once gave my wife any bed bath. I the husband had to clean her up.We have been to many hospitals. Saint Mary's hospital was a terrible patient experience.

The public restrooms were always filthy.

Avoid Saint Mary's Hospital

ATTENTION ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY! If you are headed to the ER please continue on to TMC if you don t want to keep receiving bills for $90k a year later. Even though it was sorted out months ago they keep sending bills. Not to mention the inexperienced nurse that let my IV get funky and refused to change It. After I told her she must change it, it became clear after multiple holes she didn t know what she was doing. Stay away!

I showed up today at around 11 am, with a pt showing signs of appendicitis. They we great to get us checked in, and then we waited, and waited. After 2 hours the pt was triaged. Then nearly 2 hours more the pt was taken back. There were a few emergent cases that came in and I do understand that they take priority. However 3 pts that came in after us, a possible flu, and a sore leg, were both seen and released before we got called back. This was followed by being told to wait for an ultra sound. The nurse got aggressive when we were tired of waiting, and asked if they could get the US done sooner, at this point it was 5:20 pm. Then when I said she has not eaten all day, she said well we can't do anything. Overall I would drive an extra 40 minutes to avoid coming here ever again. I am a 5 minute walk from st Joe's, and will never come back here. The pt was in massive pain and crying, but hey a 7 hour wait isn't that bad. The hospital charges tens of thousands of dollars to pt's to give us the pleasure of them ignoring you, or as the nurse nicely let slip, overlooking you or someone close to you because they got busy.

I just called to make a payment towards my balance on a hospital bill and was denied. They explained it was because I was using my Husband's HSA Card that didn't have my name on it. This is a huge inconvenience because my husband is away most of time due to work. I spent 5 minutes listening to them double checking my address, my phone, my DOB. Why even bother doing that if that final outcome is that I can not make payment? Don't you folks want your patients to pay their bills?

The care of all staff is superb. I was amazed at the kindness and professionalism displayed by every individual, from cleaning staff to the Doctors. Everyone was so efficient and worked well as a team. I felt truly cared for and it has made a difference and motivated me to move forward on a difficult road. Thank you for just being kind It mattered.

I live in Sierra Vista, but the hospital here is very bad, I laid there for over three hours and nothing had been done yet for my breathing. So I lift and went and went to St. Joseph's in Tucson, I signed in and with in Five minutes I was taken in to ER and was given an EKG, chest Exray and a lung scan. That took 3.5 hours, I was given a clean bill of health. If I would have stayed in SV Hospital it would have been at least another 2 to 3 hours and maybe no answers. The ER nurses were very good and Dr. Kartchner was also very good.
This was the best experience I've had in ER.

I had a short stay at St Joes on 1/26/18 and 1/27/18. The staff did a great job. Nicole Onishi and John Martens made sure I was taken care of and went out of their way to keep me informed. Nicole found a comfortable chair for my wife and our overnight stay comfortable. The next day John kept me in the loop and spent extra time explaining the results of the tests they performed. The best part was letting me know that everything was ok with me!! Very professional staff who deserve to be commended!

The lack of communication and the disconnect between the medical staff and family with loves one in this hospital is truly something special here. If I list all the complaints I had for my love one that had to endure 9 days in here, I be here all day and night writing. The only reason Im going to hold my tongue, cause they save my love one, with God help of course, and I am a nurse myself, and the current pandemic is placing all area's of nursing/medical people to there limits. There was a few doctors, nurses and techs that was doing there jobs above and beyond, and few that I had questions on why there are working in medical?

Update, My mom again was sent here, against my wishes due to EMT saying this is the closest hospital from Vail, they lost my mom clothes, driving license, and insurance cards... And discharge her with a hospital gown and hospital socks in 50 degree weather. Nothing to protect her from the elements.... and she just getting over pneumonia and infection. I an filing a complaint with patient advocate and her case manager with Banner, to make those staffs be held accountable with this horrible situation.

I'm not sure why the negative reviews as I went in last night in some serious pain and found the staff to be AMAZING and very empathetic to my situation. I was treated with respect and kindness and they quickly resolved my issues. I had gone to an urgent care a couple days prior and they didn't quite hit the nail on the head like St. Joe's did. Was tended to by 2 angels by the names Garrett and James and they were amazing and professional. Even watching the staff in the hospital just reminded you of watching a very well oiled machine!!! The best part is I'm feeling better today than I have in a week and I'm TRULY grateful for everyone at St. Joe's that went over and above to make me better!!!! Thanks very much to all :)

On Monday April 14 my sister was brought to St. Josephs because of a head injury from a fall and being ill. After running a multitude of tests, the doctors concluded that it was a viral infection and sent her home. On Tuesday April 15th, my sister returned to the hospital because of severe pain, migraine and vomiting; her symptoms have gotten worse. And they tell you if they don't get better, to come back immediately. They discharged her again with pain medicine for the migraines and was told that she injured her neck in the fall. On Wednesday April 16th, my sister was nonresponsive and 911 was called to transport her back to St. Josephs. At the time of her arrival, she was dumped in triage to wait for a doctor. ARE YOU SERIOUS? It took 3 people to yell at nurses to get my sister in the back to be seen by a doctor as this was her 3rd day in a row being brought back to the hospital because her symptoms became even more worse. It took 3 non doctoral persons to yell and demand a neurologist see my sister and FINALLY they are saying that she has a severe concussion... WELL GENIUS WHAT GAVE THAT AWAY!!!

Not only did St. Joseph's drop the ball on my sister, but from the other reviews, I cannot say I am surprised. There needs to be an overhaul of priority in that hospital, especially with head injuries.

Not only should St. Josephs be fined, but they should find all new staff.

Once the neurologist saw my sister, she expressed concern that it took this long for her to be called and she can't believe that after 4 days in and out of the ER that she is still at this moment sitting in ER and has yet to be admitted to the neurology part of the hospital and put in a bed up there.

There is a serious lack of concern for patients at this hospital and trust me, a google review is only the first stop I'm making to make it known that St. Josephs needs help and whoever is in charge, needs to be fired.

My mom was transported to St Joseph's hospital last night from Prescott hospital due to critical condition. When she was being transported to her room from the ER parking area, there were medical staff to include the doctor that attended her to comfort her. It seemed that they were waiting for her to arrive. She was here for two days, she was hardly alone at any time. The nurse arranged for me to stay overnight in room with my Mom. We were treated with respect at all time, everyone were so helpful there. Thank you for treating us.

I took a relative to the neuro wing for surgery, visited him and pick him up to go home 2 days later. For a new building, why didn't the designers figure out the parking situation. Hard for handicapped people to walk that far and find cars parked on sidewalks. The entrance for people to go on the 5th floor was a maze. Not good planning at all. Maybe no planning for visitors means they don't want visitors.

The food sucks sense they closed out the main cafeteria during dinner and overnight. The furniture in the OB delivery rooms are very uncomfortable and falling apart. I was suprised to see how much this hospital has fallen apart. The administration doesn't seem to care about paitent comforts. Let's start with modernizing the cable system to HD!

Went to the ER about a week ago. First and foremost the one girl they had checking people in including myself seemed unsure. I have been to the ER about 5 times in the last year and she is one of the ones I just have to complain about. I believe her name was edna, or edith, along those lines. She was rude and the she just didn't seem to be bothered my concern. She took her time. As I waited I then was watching her and she was on her phone, and when she was talking to another co worker was complaining about how people wouldn't stop coming in. Um hello its an ER healthy people certainly don't go there.
when I was in the back, the older lady sitting behind the desk where nurses are just looked irritated. bad attitude all around.

Compared to the visit I had last time clinical staff seemed more attentive and caring. And seemed to be trying to get the doctor and his orders for me.

When I left I was stopped at check out, the girls I was familiar with were not there , the ones that were all seemed lost as to whether I had all my paper work and insurance. One girl said I didn't need to do it because I have been there recently and the other said I did. Then the same girl from the front said I didn't need to sign anything, but I got a call from a woman or something like that few days later saying I left without signing for my visit.

Very un organized. my 2 best experiences was back in july and September, the girls I saw both times were so helpful and understanding, not to mention knowledgeable. know Bianca is one she sits in their office area and the other I don't know her name, she had glasses, heavier set and I would observe her and she was just the nicest to patients. those are the kinds of people that should be working in an ER setting.

Please hire people with a strong healthcare background, and with compassion.

Still working on an issue with this facility. The original complaint was stomach pains, after 3 hours of waiting we tried to leave. I felt like we were taken advantage of in this situation by the ER staff and the doctor who persuaded us to stay when we attempted to leave. Our plan was to seek out an urgent care clinic when it opened later that same morning. We had waited for hours to be seen and finally when we attempted to leave someone immediately came and got our information to bill us and the doctor showed up at the same time. The doctor did a quick exam in the chair. We felt like vultures had descended upon us when we tried to leave. This to me was unethical and immoral behavior and the high ER charges could have been prevented if we were allowed to leave and seek out the urgent care. They do not give out an itemized bill --- EVER--- you have to request it. After finally getting one there are fraudulent billing charges for services never rendered. Unfortunately Tucson has a shortage on quality healthcare. If you are in need of ongoing health care, I would highly recommend moving to another city.

Update to review after learning the person responsible for me wanting to post a low review, isn't actually an employee of St. Josephs, but instead the neighboring woman's care building. Thank you for a timely response to my concerns.

I went to the ER last Saturday with horrible burning stomach pains. I did have to wait in the waiting room for around 2/3 hours in horrible pain but after I was finally seen it went fast. I had to get surgery for appendicitis and the nurses, doctors and surgical team were awesome and put me at ease because this was the first surgery I have ever had. I am now home recovering.

Best experience I've ever had at an ER. I was put in a room immediately and the front desk was very friendly. RN Stacy was very compassionate and kind. Dr. Douglas Campbell was also very compassionate and informative. Both Physical Therapist (one was named Krystal forgot the others name) were very helpful, informative, and kind. Discharge was also very friendly (and this coming from someone who doesn't have insurance... yet) Overall I would highly recommend this ER. Thank you all so much for all of the help and kindness. It's nice to know their are still people who love what they do.

I just had the best experience at St. Joseph's that I have ever had in any hospital. From the start in ambulatory surgery to pre op holding, in the OR and back to post op. Every single staff member (without exception) was so, so nice, they made me feel comfortable and eased my anxiety that goes along with having surgery. I have never liked hospital' s. I can' t say about St. Joseph's surgery dept. Wonderful experience! Thank you to all the staff, your great.

I have to say this hospital's ER department is amazing. I am not a Tucson native so I have never been to the hospitals here in Tucson before. I want to thank the amazing nurses, doctors, and staff. I was experiencing COVID-19 symptoms that were bad and was a bit afraid to have to go in their alone without my spouse. The nurses and doctor that attended me were so patient and kind. They listened to all my questions and answered everything in detail. I felt safe there and would highly recommend this hospital. The rooms and hospital spaces are very clean and very organized. I got the medical care I needed and was able to be discharged quickly. Thank you for the wonderful service! :)

EDIT: My name back then was Rebecca Elise Meyer, that may be why you did not find me in system. I emailed the site you directed me to, so let me know. I would greatly appreciate if this could be fixed, I understand how things written in your medical records work and have little hope for it to be gone. However, something needs to be updated or changed. It was a confusing situation, and I do understand why some of these theories floated about. It still doesn't make it right, a doctor should not have the power to write in ANYONE's file something about them without absolute proof.

I was in a coma of 2016. It was discovered I was in a place with black mold and I am susceptible to it.
Well, I try to get disabilty and come to find out st Joseph while saving my life, painted a picture about me all wrong.
They said I was a cocaine addict addicted to iv drug use. Never did cocaine in my life or am I addicted to iv drugs. My tests were negative. This was only their theories of why it happened.

Come to get disabilty and have all records in place from every other hospital. St Joseph's records were so messed up about me now everyone thinks I'm a cocaine addict, I never did cocaine in my life!!!!

Worst hospital I have ever been. And I've been to a lot. They did save my life but they also ruined it.

My mom was there for spinal fusion surgery. The staff made this completely horrifying! Due to covid no family members are allowed and the staff takes full advantage of this. My mom was in the neurological unit after surgery and while I was trying to talk to her on the phone 20min went by with an alarm going off nobody came in to check anything so I called the nurses station, explained the alarm going off the entire time I was trying to find out how she was, the male nurse that picked up said its probably just her iv alarm. He said I guess I can send someone in to check. Adding in a sigh like it was an inconvenience for him. And that only her iv ment for at least 20mins my mother was without fluids and pain management. It continued to get worse and worse. Next day I again called the nurses station to find out why I was receiving a call from my mother @3am crying asking me to please help her. When I spoke to staff the nurse replied. "Not my shift wasn't there" asked him if he was there for the patients or paychecks, he put the phone down and didn't even listen. Disgusting! Due to covid family members are not allowed to see how their loved ones are being taken care of and the staff is taking full advantage of the situation. Totally disappointed and hope nobody ever has to be treated like my mother was while in St. Joseph hospital

I wish I could give zero stars. I am a physician for another city and needed to bring a family member to the ED here. The facilities are old and terrible. We sat in a hallway on a Wednesday afternoon and evening for 5 hours before we ever saw a doctor and another hour before we were roomed. There are j not that many people here, they are just incredibly understaffed. We have not see a nurse. She had vitals done once 5 hours ago. My aunt had surgery here and the care was horrible. She did not have a single US - born nurse. Run away as fast as you can. There has to be better care in the city.

I decided to make an emergency room appt. for my 3 year old after TMC was backed up for hours. I said I guess I'll give St. Jo's a try. I had to wait for about 2 hours after our scheduled time to see someone, but I was okay with that. The frontend staff was amazing. They were so kind and sweet to my little boy. That's where our good experience ended. I was there because my 3yr old projectile vomited numerous times over 4 days and was going 18+ hours without urinating. Keyshanna Terry was attending to us and it was a very unpleasant experience. My 3 year olds first interaction with her was her saying "You better stop before I give you a shot"(He was on the verge of a meltdown having spent 6hours waiting between two emergency rooms) Joking or not I felt it was very inappropriate. She took a urinalysis and told the nurse if he can keep apple juice down in 10 min to discharge us. She didnt seem to care or want to get to the bottom of what was causing these alarming symptoms. My son urinated shortly after we got to our room at around 5pm. The last time he urinated was the previous day. When I questioned her about when does him urinated once a day become a concern she said "Well he's urinating NOW." What a joke. Yes one time since the previous day. I ended up leaving very unsatisfied. My sons pediatrician, the next morning, sent us to get labs and x-ray because she was so concerned(and actually CARED). My son has fecal impaction. Which is causing his projectile vomiting and could maybe explain the lack of urination. I wish I had a better experience and your employee actually cared and got my son's diagnosis right. She also shouldn't be attending children. Her bedside manner was AWFUL.

It's a Catholic hospital and they don't allow not one family member in to see their grandfather! Being of any kind of religion you should know the importance of family. St Joseph's where's your faith in God???!!! Even TMC is allowing one visitor at a time because they know and understand the importance of family!!!!!!

DO NOT GIVE BIRTH AT THIS HOSPITAL!! We had a child here almost 3 years ago. After we left we received SEVERAL bills from the hospital and 3rd party providers. We paid every one of them. 2 YEARS LATER they send us a new bill. When we called they stated there was a billing "glitch" and this was never billed. We paid it. NOW almost 3 YEARS LATER, they send me another bill with no details as to what it is for..... other then it is PAST DUE and a threat of collections.

This is the most unprofessional establishment I have ever dealt with. We pay our bills. However, when you send us a bill almost 3 years after the fact, how do we know if we were double charged or overcharged??!! At that time we money put aside for this. Now this is a major issue!!

IF YOU CAN'T KEEP TRACK OF YOUR BILLING HOW CAN YOU BE TRUSTED WITH A CHILDS HEALTH!!

On June 7, I was admitted to the ER at St. Joseph'...

On June 7, I was admitted to the ER at St. Joseph's hospital via the ambulance. Due to an accident at home, I suffered a large laceration on the right foot that needed to be stitched. It was about 5:15 pm when I was in a room. A nurse came in to hook me up on the monitor and was asking me in a "demanding" voice to relax because I was too "tied." I was in extreme pain and lost a lot of blood so, being relaxed at that moment was nearly impossible to me. Some time went by and a male nurse was ordered to rinse out the wound. X-rays were taken to rule out any fractures and the technician was the only friendly person I encountered during my ER stay. Some time later, another male nurse came in and asked me if I wanted morphine which I declined. I had not eaten since noon time and did not want to be drowsy. We are now a few hours later than the admission time. Since I refused the morphine, nothing else was offered for pain. Hours went by... the NP who was supposed to stitch the foot came in and said she was not forgotten about me but needed to take care of discharges (paperwork). The clock struck 11 pm and finally I got the NP at work. She was very carefully and precise. At midnight the sewing was done and I got another IV with antibiotics. A young male nurse came after that medication was given and had the discharge papers for me to sign. Since the foot was just sewed and still bleeding, he took 2 band aids to cover up the area (!!). With a cane and a special shoe, I got finally out there around 1 am the other day. I needed to take care of the wound as soon as I got home since the blood was running out. Never was I asked how my pain level was and if I needed something other than morphine, never was I offered water or food, never was I asked if I was comfortable, warm, cold.... I had to take the hospital gown that was on the bed to cover my icy legs. No nurse made the effort to even check on a regular basis how I was doing. Staff looked like they had a bad day or just too tired. The Mission statement of this hospital strives for quality care but when I read all the bad reviews, there is no quality care at all. For those who came to the hospital for a scheduled procedure or as an inpatient and had great care, than you were blessed with real professionals who took their job seriously. All the others with bad experiences like me, are writing a review to help others so they would not have to deal with this and can choose another place. I got an email a week later for a survey but rather did this in an essay form.
I wanted to express my thanks to the paramedics of the fire department and the ambulance for their courtesy and professionalism and the good care I got from them. Once this review is posted, I might expect a response from the hospital saying " we are sorry you had a bad experience, we will address it...." Please, don't write that to me because it is a repetition of the responses to all other patients. The word "will" or "try" to fix things is not what a patient wants to hear. Instead, words that confirm an action, a deed !! It is something you owe to the community and the reputation of the hospital if you are true to the words of your Mission statement.

When I went a distance to pick up a friend in the emergency room at midnight, he tried to introduce me to the nurse Marco that was very rude to me when I did not say or do anything, I should not have to get treated like that when I simply walk in there to pick someone up.

The Tucson Ear Nose and Throat at this hospital is the WORST (Suite 515)This is no exaggeration multiple times this place has me waiting for an 1 hour plus in the lobby. When I'm on time for appointments. The front desk employees are always exceptionally rude and lack customer service skills they also have a hard time communicating to patients what exactly is going on specificity a front desk worker named Kim raised her voice yelling at me for questions I had regarding my appointment. I'm very disappointed in the service I've been provided and I unfortunately still have to pay these people my hard earned money for very terrible service and there is nothing I can do about it. So what I can do is discourage anyone from coming here for treatment. Just read all the reviews here... I just see A LOT of unhappy patients.

If you are Lgbt stay clear of this place for your own safety. The medical care is wishy washy depending on how the hospital is that day and they will degrade you/not give you much care if you identify on the lgbt spectrum. This place needs some major reform

On Friday I became extremely ill at work and had to be transported to the ER (St. Joseph's) I have since learned that the symptoms I was experiencing were those of a TIA or stroke. An EKG was performed along with some blood work. No CT scan was performed, which I'm told is the first thing you do to diagnose a stroke. I was sent home eight hours later with a prescription for a muscle relaxer for a chronic back condition I am already being treated for by my own doctor and no diagnosis for what I went in for.
I had a similar episode a couple of years ago and was brought to the same facility. that experience was basically identical.
I don't intend to ever go there again, and would advise anyone that values their health to do the same.
I did not get the impression that they had any interest in doing any more than making sure my vitals were normal and sending a bill.
Not looking forward to seeing what it costs me for NOTHING.

Last year I almost died of pneumonia and heart failure. The staff at St Joseph's not only saved my life, they treated me with care and attention that went way beyond mere professionalism. I continue to see the cardiologist who initially treated me, and plan to see more of their specialists in the future.

The worst!! I posted a review about how terrible St. Joe's hospital IS. They called me, and I said I have nothing left to say to you people. Alicia says that she was going to file a grievance in her name. I said fine, I want nothing to do with you people ever again. Your hospital nurses( Jason, Jennifer, P.T. Jaime, are the worst!) She writes me and files the grievance in my name- after I told her not to. Out of sight, out of mind. They are taught how to say I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. In my experience, this is the worst hospital in Tucson.

I was admitted and had to wait in ER for a room for over 7 hours. Sheets have not been changed since I got here. Had to ask for test results as no one ever told me. Food trays sat in room all day until I asked for them to be removed. Bed pans only emptied when I had to request it. Asked for water and cleaning lady finally got it for me. Will never come here again if I need medical care.

Worst hospital to go to for anything. They check you in you wait an hour they take your vitals then Shuffle you into a room where everybody else that is sick gets put even if you have an injury expect to round all the sick people and catch what they have. You are told to wait for a room and they will call you shortly. Be expecting to wait several hours hopefully you don't die before getting seen. When you ask them to find out where you're at they let you know you'll be seen soon. They have people in beds in the hallways being treated or waiting to be treated definitely do not go to this hospital the wait was ridiculous. I would never bring my child here again after being there 2 and half hours i left to another hospital.....
