Carolines on Broadway Review

You are required to check your bag. It costs $2 to check it. If they're the ones that want you to check your bag, you shouldn't be the one paying for it. Also, the comedian seemed to be drunk, and they kept asking my group to move our chairs back.

Finally, there's a two drink minimum. If I already paid for a ticket, I should not be required to pay even more for drinks I don't even want. If they literally cannot turn a profit without me ordering two drinks, just charge more for the ticket instead of adding all these disingenuous charges.

I will never return to this place, and I suggest no one else come either. It is deceptive, unethical, and ultimately not even that good.

We ordered teas and an apple tart on a first date here! It was filling and good, just tough to get the waiter's attention. We went when Nikki Glaser headlined, but we saw a bunch of comics open before her. I'd come back, it's definitely a fun spot.

worst host in the city .... not funny. tells jokes waaaaay to long and misses his own punchlines. lame. ruined my experience. and I mean no one was laughing. (memorial day weekend)

I went for a event hosted by Dj Envy and his wife. Pretty interesting mix of talent. Well staffed venue. Give yourself time to travel.

Staff is terrible here really sucks that it makes such an impact but it does. With the various clubs available short of a certain comedian performing i avoid it like the plague. Its more tourist trap than local comedy club when compared to other places like comedy cellar, new york comedy club and even gotham.

Carolines on Broadway provides the same quality entertainment one has come to expect of New York s legendary Great White Way.

This place is legendary but the service we received was terrible. Probably because they automatically bill 15% gratuity (for your convenience). The system for entering the main room is horrendous: they give you a ticket with a number, then start calling numbers in groups of ten, (ex: now seating tickets 1-10) but folks with higher numbers just stand by the entrance (waiting for their turn) blocking the entry so it takes forever.
Drink prices range from $14 to $30 and there is a two-drink minimum, so keep that in mind. The comedians are usually top notch. But unfortunately, Caroline's can do much better to streamline and improve it's patrons experience.

I went and saw brad williams with a friend of mine. Neather of us drink so we both ordered 2 soft drinks. When we got the bill at the end of the nite we had a few extra drinks on the bill.make sure you check the bill before you pay

The worst service ever...No waiter until two comics did their sets.. they were calling last call before we got first call. Definitely a downgrade...Big disappointment... Will not go back..even for free!!!

We were there for the John Crist show, awesome show. Carolines is nice place gets extremely crowded. Drinks are good. Overall experience good

My cousin and I went to see the funniest Wayans, Marlon. We had a blast!

Great club. Well run. Comfortable seating. Give yourself extra time if coming to a prime time show because of the time square crowds.

Have gone here on two different nyc trips. Broadway is very expensive, this offers an alternative option. People complain about the drink rules but the location alone must mean they need like $80/guest (entrance fee plus two drinks during the show, lobby drinks don't count) to make it work. Comedians are generally top notch.

Decent bar food, a little better than average. We were lucky that day, our server was a little bit under average. Not to bad to complain. He kept forgetting to bring the drinks after he took the order

I've been to Carolines maybe 5 times over the last year, and I have not had a bad experience. I actually ate there for the first time as well. and while the selection isn't the best, I knew that going in.

I've never had a problem with the waiting staff, food, drinks. And, I haven't seen a bad act at Carolines either, which is phenomenal.

All the bad reviews tend to point out things that Carolines post on their website. 2 drink minimum, no bags in the show venue, etc. There are simple resolutions to all of this. For the 2 drink minimum, you can get soda, it's cheaper. As for bags, why bring extra entertainment? Check em' at the door, enjoy the show.

The 2 drink minimum is standard at most comedy clubs, guys. This place is very 80s in my opinion, but not in a charming way.

One of the biggest and historical places for comedy you'll ever come across.

I bought tickets for a show yesterday and waited in line with many others for over an hour. The doors never opened and there were no lights on inside we all still waited because we paid. I would think as a popular business you would let people know if the show was cancelled. I live in CT so the face we waited over an hour for nothing was aggravating!!!

Fun and classy place to see some of the best comics working today. Tickets are priced well but the menu is pretty steep. Overall, a good value and experience.

This is an okay comedy club. The temperature there was much too high for me however.

Saw my girl Amanda Seales.. the greatest! Good show. Food... ok. Ordered the nachos and buffalo wings. Wings were not good.. they forgot to put buffalo sauce. Not a drinker, and ordered a Shirley temple.. the worst I ever had. If it wasn't for the good show I'd give this place 3 stars. Service was ok. Our server took a long time with putting in orders.

I have been twice. The servers and staff are very nice. It's bigger than most comedy clubs I have been to in the past. Although I wish the stage was bigger so they can move around more it's still a nice venue. The food on the other hand is a whole nother situation it is not the best food it is very overpriced for what it is if they would raise the quality of the food the prices would match. And charging $5.25 for a club soda and lime is ridiculous by the way. However their choice in bottled water is awesome it's Italian and it tastes great.

Saw Marlon Wayans here. The food was pretty good, the drinks could've been a little stronger. Overall was a good experience.

We saw Drew Lynch and a couple of other stand up comedians, all excellent! The show itself was awesome and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The layout of the venue is good, no issues with A/V at all and I was comfortable at our table. I'm not really sure what the MO is for comedy clubs like this but we had 3 other randoms at our immediate table and it was less than pleasant (not really the fault of the venue I suppose).

Knocking off a star because we paid extra for dinner reservation and there was a miscommunication about which line to stand in. The dinner and drink service was a little subpar, the food took almost an hour to get to our table and they seemed understaffed. Food and drinks themselves were B+.

Overall, enjoyed it and recommend it.

I really like this place, kind of a throw back to the 80ts. They have food, you can make a reservations or just get there early enough and you can order. I didn't eat but from what I saw was ok. There's a 2 drink minimum. The bathrooms can use a more frequent freshening, my wife said same thing. The staff was cool and the crowd friendly. We saw Dolph Ziggler he's very funny he is also WWE wrestler , so some other wrestlers showed up to. It was a fun night. Definitely going back.

Glad to see Charlie Murphy there one of his last performances but a nice little spot in the city to go watch Comedy

Great way to spend the evening! Good food and drinks no complaints whatsoever

The food was excellent, we had Margarita Pizza, chicken wing and French fries. The accommodation was very cramped and this limited very little movement during the hour and a half that we were in the location. Other than that the event was enjoyable.

Good laugh all around but the two drink minimum is not necessary

I saw Jay Oakerson here last night. Jay was hilarious! I had a burger and that was good too! The venue is wider then it is long so even sitting in the back we had a great view! Would come back again for sure!

Caroline's on Broadway was absolutely amazing! Theses people take great care of you to ensure that your time and experience there is wonderful! The staff and management are friendly, quick, and so helpful! Thank you for an awesome night!

I think it's probably a good club. However, I didn't have a great time overall. I'm not a New Yorker, but was visiting friends in town and we were looking for a safe late night activity. Saw Paul Mooney at a 12:30am showing on a Saturday night. Show before ours was full, so our show was delayed starting while they emptied and cleaned the theater. Mooney was clearly tired, delirious, belligerent, and more-than-is-necessary offensive. His routine just turned into an endless celebrity rant full of N-bombs and disgusting complaints. I don't mind raunchy, sometimes I enjoy it. This was too much even for me. The drinks are 2-drink-per-person minimum, and as usual, over-priced. But then again, it's Broadway in NYC. Good atmosphere, bar is good, just not what I was looking for.

I like this place however they are kinda pricey for what they offer food and drink wise. And their seating arrangements and seating process could use of revamping.

Slow service and very poor seating arramgement. Felt like you'd only be there once so why bother. Unfortunately we live here and would go again and again, but not here.

It's got better did than drinks, and the seating overall is pretty good wherever you're at. However the way the seating is done is pretty slow because they have no method for seating people as they come in. Service is kind of slow, and the drinks are absolute garbage- bottom bottom shelf liquor.

Corey Halcomb was hilarious great show and line up.

New comics trying out material so a lil dry at parts and definitely a tourist spot. Could probably do better at local joints

If you want to experience stand up comedy the American way, this is a great place to go. Almost every day a show. Check when booking whether a mandatory minimum number of drinks must be ordered during the shows.

Great ventilation, short waits and great entertainment

Such an awesome place. We came here to see Kevin Smith and we had a blast. We opted to have dinner before the show and it was great. The food and drinks were delicious. The waiters were friendly and efficient. The staff taking our tickets & helping us to our seats, were wonderful. We will definitely be back!
