Had a hernia repair procedure done at your fine facility today. Two words describe my treatment and the way I was treated today...outstanding and beyond a five star hospital.... Myself and the people of this region are very fortunate to have this type of facility and caliber of nurses and Dr.s treating people....At 70 years old I have been in a few Hospitals but none as fine as this one....thank you ladies and gentlemen of this facility

The absolute worst hospital I ve ever been to and trust me I ve been to plenty due to military lifestyle. The Doctors/medical staff that I was with were an absolute joke, unprofessional and rude. There was only 1 nurse named Alison (from Minnesota) that usually works in labor and delivery that was an absolute angel and she was so compassionate. If everyone was like Alison then this hospital would be beyond a 5 star. Matter of fact this hospital should take all their false billboard ads down in NC because it is far from a 5star rating. But lesson learned and we will never go to this hospital ever again.

Horrible, we went on a night when they had a bomb threat. So sat in waiting room for 5 hours, before we got seen. But so quickly after we got in a tiny room they tried to hurry us out, what is treating everyone in hospital like a threat going to solve. So unprofessional, unreal. My son stopped breathing twice that night. They asked if it was a emergency? Hello? My son stops breathing, ya I consider that a emergency. Instead they're worried about some kid, prank call in. If there's a bomb threat 9 times out of 10 it won't happen. Take care of your patients is your #1 priority. They don't care, they cared more. About drama, than patients. We had to get told oh, we don't see nothing. Then drive over a hour to Pitt, where real doctors found issue. Y'all low life pos if I lost my son cause of y'all. Y'all would all be fired. Which should be done anyway.

My daughter was in a head on collision Wednesday night and we were taken here by ambulance and they put us in a room and we never saw anyone else until about 2 hrs after getting her in the room. They finally did X ray's on her feet and she had broken toes on both feet and her top right foot has damage. They never gave us crutch for her to walk with and only taped up her toes and my 3 year old could have did better wrapping than they did. When we finally got discharged, I had to ask for a wheel chair to push her out and I got no assistance in getting her out and into my car. I had to push her out, get her into the car, and push the wheel chair back into the er with no help what so ever. I never intend to go back to this place. Nurses won't nice or anything. I'm done with that place.

Was an orthopedic patient from 3/20-3/22 stayed on 5th floor. I have been in different hospitals big and small but never one that had staff who all were so friendly and caring about their patients. From the first person you meet being the lady at the front desk to the person cleaning up things. Nursing staff for orthopedic all of you, you know who you are. They all, were great caring individuals each and everyone of you can pat yourself on the back. You truly care about your patients and show it.
Thank you each and every one of you Bob Zambron

I wish I could give them negative stars. This hospital KILLS people. My aunt.was operated on in an unsterile OR, got staff, and died shortly after. My fiance's grandpa died here as well because no one knew how to work the dialysis machine when he needed it. Last night we took our son to the er because he had a seizure, after sitting 3.5 hours we left. We never saw a Dr, and only spoke with a nurse once upon first arriving. When we walked out at 5 AM the nurses looked at us and said nothing. The people at registration were looking at flowers on the computer and didn't even notice us. This place is HORRIBLE. please please please drive to Greenville to Vidant. This hospital is a JOKE.

Unfortunately I've had to spend more time in the hospital than I'd like in the last year. My last visit was for three days and the staff was wonderful. Best hospital food I've ever eaten. Nursing staff was very attentive and went out of their wy to make me comfortable. One morning I got up before the cafeteria opened and went out to the nursing station, IV pole in hand, begging for coffee. The nurse brought me some from her personal stash. Doesn't get any better than that. :)

Seriously if I could give this place a 0 I absolutely would! Never again will I come here! They are slow, rude and down right mean! Our nurse spent an hour in one room without checking on her other patients.we have been here over 5 hours now. Our discharge papers have been sitting at her desk for a good hour already and now we have to wait at least another 20 minutes which will turn into probably another hour! Highly recommend to not come here EVER!

We were visiting New Bern from out of town when my son broke his foot playing football. We went to the "minor emergency" center where we were given a wheelchair, had an x-ray done, got his foot splinted and given crutches and pain medication ALL within ONE hour's time. The staff were so professional, quick, courteous, and kind. I was really impressed!

My experience in the ER with a nightmare. I was taken in by ambulance. The clerk called called out was I Mrs so and so. So much for patient privacy. It was 5 hours before I saw a doctor. Then for another 8 hours I saw no one. I needed to use the restroom. No one came to help me get there. Even after calling on the button. I struggled to get there by myself almost falling several times. When I finally realized later when I was home oh, I was given a prescription that was actually causing my symptoms. When I was sent home. I could hardly stand on my feet and I was led to the waiting room. No one helped me walk and I almost collapsed. This was when they were releasing me. My own personal doctor said go to Greenville

I went to the the emergency department for a hand injury. When I got there Natasha immediately asked how she could help me. After I told her she said that I needed go to the minor emergency department for my care due to the minor nature of my injury. The staff were wonderful. I was immediately escorted through some doors where my vitals were taken. Then I was escorted to the minor emergency department. I was placed into a room where either Eleanor or Monica took my insurance information. As soon as she was finished taking my information a nurse by the name of Donna came in and continued to get medical information. I was then taken to have my hand x-rayed. The longest wait that I had was when I was waiting for the x-ray results to come back. That was approximately one hour and then the PA by the name of Natalie came in to examine me, give me the x-Ray results and to go over a treatment plan. I was then given discharge instructions which included a referral to Carolina Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. The next day I received a follow-up phone call to see how my hand pain was and I was asked if I made my follow-up appointment. In summary this facility gets a five out of five rating for me. The staff were attentive, friendly, prompt, professional and knowledgeable. Keep up the good work.

Never will I ever recommend this place. EVER. They should close the doors and clean house. I should of known it was going to be a bad night. Got there and a patient returned upset that they left an IV in his arm. He was on crutches and offered no wheelchair to bring him back in and told him to have a seat and they'll get the IV in a second. SOME of the staff lack the proper knowledge and training to even render services. It's a mad house! I get that its an EMERGENCY ROOM so some choas should be expected, however it's as if you're walking into a battle field there. It's horribe and I ended up leaving AFTER waiting FOUR hours in a room and not even being checked on. NOT ONCE. Mind you I was there for chest tightness. Upon leaving the nurse tried to get me to stay, said she would go see if someone could see me really quick. She goes and returns and her exact words were "Um, yeah, no the PA said shes not seeing anymore patients tonight". I turned and left. Had something happened to me after leaving, maybe they wouldn't have been legally responsible because I signed to leave but I could only pray it ate their conscience alive. All these billboards and commercials raving about great service and state of the art equipment...tuh! They should invest some of that in their ER dept. More staff is needed, as well as nurses and physicians. What do you think that says about their corporation, I can promise you it isn't good! The facility can't keep nurses and no physicians want to work there. PURE CHAOS.

My husband was there all night with an infection in his arm. He was treated horribly and received the worst care possible. They released him in worse condition then he was when he got there and gave him a prescription for something his records clearly state he is highly allergic to. I hope and pray that anyone else that has the misfortune of having to go there gets more professional treatment and better care then he did.

I was extremely happy with the outstanding service i received from the Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, NC. From the moment I enter the emergency facility I was greeted with a most needed smile. Then was quickly taken care by the medical staff with kind and caring attitude. I couldn t have received better medical attention and for that I commend all the staff at the hospital. Thank you!

My wife was admitted to the ER yesterday morning (12/19) following complications from surgery one week earlier. It took the hospital the entire day to contact the Urology Practice that performed that surgery. They preformed a ton of labs but the ER doctor admitted that she didn't know much about Urology!

The Urologist came soon after being contacted and she had a surgical procedure to correct the problem at around 8:00 PM. Totally unacceptable performance from the hospital

The fact that I have to leave one star to submit a...

The fact that I have to leave one star to submit a review is infuriating! There should be a 0 star option. I was treated very poorly by the medical staff and the ER Doctor. Behaviors from nasty comments to rolling their eyes and talking behind my back.In the ER exam room, I showed my nurse, Lori Barclay, my tongue, cheeks and throat. It was very hard to talk, my tongue either rubbed against my teeth or I bit it.I had to either hold it out or talk with my teeth together. Also, because of rude treatment in the past at this hospital, I went ahead and explained that in my medical history I was seen here for addiction to opioids.I asked them to please treat me with respect and no judgement. She reassured me that regardless of my past, everyone would treat me fairly and would not discriminate. Dr.Jeremy Selley came in and asked me the standard questions,"when did this start", etc. I answered him with my teeth together so I didn't bite my tongue. He examined my tongue by asking me to open and "say ah". He said I had normal taste buds and he didn't see any swelling. I tried to show him the ulcers, white patches and where it was swollen. His next question was, "where do you shoot up?". I gave him a puzzled look and asked what my past drug history had to do with my tongue. He told me I was experiencing "dyskinesia". At this point I was defensive and angry. I told him I didn't have dyskinesia because I was not on drugs. I told him it was the only way I could talk and not bite my tongue. With his mind made up he stood to go, I asked him NOT to discuss anything with my husband. He made a comment that because we were married he had a right to know. I said,I know my HIPPA rights and if I ask for my medical information to be kept private that means from everyone! He left the room, a few seconds later I opened the door, he was standing down the hall speaking with my husband. Later, my husband told me what he discussed with him, it was exactly what Dr. Selley had told me in the exam room. Dr. Selley violated my HIPPA rights! The more I tried to explain or show the ulcers and white patches on my tongue, the worse my treatment got. Next came the silent treatment. If I addressed anyone by name, they ignored me and walked away. Another nurse, Same Archino, came in with ultra sound to draw my blood. I told him I was more comfortable sitting in the chair for him to draw blood, his response was, "whatever" followed by an eye roll. Next came the urine drug screen, I complied and asked my nurse to stand in while giving my sample, explaining that I didn't trust anyone at this point. I asked her when the drug screen comes back negative will someone finally address my mouth and tongue, I was ignored? Escorted back to my room, the next person to come in was Ms. Brooke Rink, I am not sure of her title because she did not give one. Her first question was, "what brings you in today?". By this point, I found myself trying to convince anyone who would listen that I was not on drugs, didn't have dyskinesia and my tongue hurt. Her visit lasted less than 5 minutes, because she heard her phone ring out at the desk. She left the room, with the promise to "be right back". When she didn't return, I stepped into the doorway. I spoke directly to Ms. Rink and asked if she was planning on coming back. She gave me a dirty look and said she would be there in a minute, as I walked away everyone laughed. When Ms. Rink came back to my room she told me that I had to wait to speak to psychiatry via teleport and if I tried to leave before then I would be involuntarily committed. Two hours later the Dr. came to tell me my drug screen was negative. I told him I already knew that and asked if he was finally going to address my tongue. His response, I'll write you for discharge with medicines". The rudest, nastiest group of staff I have met to date. I WILL NOT return to this hospital!

I'm from Wisconsin but my brother lives in NC. In July we were down to visit him and his dr sent him to the hospital to have his gull bladder removed asap. Well after 2 days the hospital finally scheduled him for surgery. What should have been a 1/2 hour surgery turned into 3 hours. The gall bladder grew into the liver. So they made him wait 2 days when the dr stated asap. Now he has been diagnosed with a rare cancer the specialist wanted him to start radiation on Monday ( 5 days a week for 5 weeks ). Again New Bern is playing God and didn't schedule him until Oct 11th. I am so thankful our medical care in WI. Is wonderful. I rate NC as one of the worst places for medical care.

The only reason this review is getting any positiv...

The only reason this review is getting any positive feedback is because of the emergency room staff. Both times I have visited, the PA Amanda and all the nurses who assisted me were nothing short of kind, caring, incredibly efficient, and genuinely willing to help me. Each time, I was brought back quickly and administered care in a very timely manner.

The negative portion of this review is solely because of the other part of the facility. I originally came in on a Wednesday afternoon after having been to urgent care and Onslow Memorial ER the previous day. I had been suffering from uncontrollable vomiting and abdominal pain to the point where I genuinely could not function, and I hadn t eaten in days and I had lost a significant amount of weight. I was promptly given medicine to help and was really starting to feel better, but every test that was administered came back normal. It was recommended that I see a GI specialist; however, the GI specialist at the hospital would not see me because I was not bleeding. I was basically told my condition was not poor enough for them to warrant a visit and exam. Whatever, no biggie. I was discharged and made an appointment at a separate facility to see a GI specialist. I went home, spent the entire next day sleeping, and woke up Friday feeling back to normal.

Fast forward a couple weeks to today and I m back to nonstop vomiting in the bathroom at work, accompanied by severe abdominal pain. My appointment with the GI specialist is still 1 1/2 weeks out, so I decide to head back to the ER to see if maybe I m bad enough to be seen. Once again, I m very quickly taken care of. I end up having the same wonderful PA, Amanda, and she remembers me and what awful symptoms I had previously had, and she sees that I had started to go back downhill again. She recommends we perform some more tests to see if anything s changed and, if everything was still normal, I should be admitted. Cool. Maybe this time, we can figure out what s wrong with me.

Everything comes back normal and she calls the hospital to admit me, and they turn me down. They said the GI specialist simply wouldn t come in on a weekend because I wasn t bleeding and my situation wasn t severe enough. I have missed multiple days of work, I ve been unable to get out of bed, I am struggling to function, and yet, it s just not bad enough for them to figure out what s wrong with me. Absolutely unacceptable. I m so disappointed in the facility. Not the emergency department; they ve been the only ones trying to help me. But I m furious. And now, I just have to keep suffering until my appointment with a GI specialist. I m basically just throwing money away with my copays trying to get help and being turned away. I m wasting my time, my money, my energy just trying to get some answers, but apparently, my condition just isn t bad enough to be seen. Disappointed.

I've spent a lot of time here because my mother has 3rd stage colon cancer. She had surgery in February of 2018 and she had several follow-up visits, a lot of tests and lab work, etc... Everyone here was wonderful to us. From the time I would sign in to get a visiting pass to visit my mother during her 3 week stay, to patient counseling assisting me with hospital fees and paying the bill, housekeeping, lab techs, nurses, and the doctors, I feel my mother received top notch care and because of their professionalism and compassion, I was able to go home at night knowing she was receiving the best care and she was in a safe place with caring people... Thank you SO MUCH for all you do...Sincerely...

My experience was terrible! My wife had a C/T scan , we went to UNC MEDICAL CENTER where the procedure was repeated. Our fee after all insurance adjustments at Carolina East was $2,941.00! For the same procedure at UNC the fee was $1,600! Why does a little hospital in Eastern North Carolina charge charge almost 80 % more than a University hospital? Because they can!, I hope I never have to go there again!

I had the worst experience in this hospital. I do not recommend this hospital at all. I went to hospital with a head injury I told the nurse that I was allergic to certain medication they gave me a medicine that had that medication and not only that they put me an injection with a medicine that has that medication they also didn't tell me what they were giving me and almost kill me . And the doctor never came to see the mess that she did with me. Also I wasn't supposed to be given that medication because if you have a head injury you are not supposed to take the medicine they gave me. Horrible the worst experience. Do not come here or bring your love ones here!!!!

Took 3 times to get the emergency room being transferred. Operators are rude to deal with, no words like sorry, please, thank you, and instead exhibit an angry demeanor. Then I get a woman named Rebecca in the ER who said she cannot tell me anything about my father due to HIPPA. No mention of getting permission from my father at all, simply she cannot give information out as they cannot verify my identity, yet she literally did not ask me anything at all. Very poor training and for management teach HIPPA See 45 CFR 164.510(a). I am out of state, but have zero confidence in your facility as your operators and front line staff are indicative of what type of facility you are running which is grossly misinformed and rude.

Please think twice before going to Urgent Care at Carolina East, and if you have to go, be prepared to pay dearly! Over $555 in total (not including the doctor's fee yet to be received) to get antibiotics to treat a simple infection (and it was the wrong antibiotic so I actually got worse and had to go to another doctor). However the bill was the icing on this very bad cake! Our health care system is very messed up, $447 of this bill was actually me sitting in a room waiting to talk to the doc for 10 minutes. Literally I was charged $447 for just sitting there waiting on the doctor.

If I could give this place a negative star value I...

If I could give this place a negative star value I would give them negative 100,000,000,000. My grandmother spent the better part of three years in and out of this hospital with what the staff(doctors, etc) kept diagnosing as a heart problem with numerous prescriptions for heart issues and not one doctor checking to see what she was already on. They just kept adding drugs. Finally in August of 2014 (the same day my father died of brain cancer) she was diagnosed with breast cancer. It took them a month to remove whatever tumor they could get and then five more months to send her for radiation (mind you this was done by the doctor that realized she was on all the wrong medication). By the time they sent her to Greenville for two months of radiation the cancer had spread. She went back four months later for three weeks but all that did was speed up the metastatic cancer. Three days after she came home last summer she fell and wound up in the emergency room at this asinine place. They kept her for over twelve HOURS. They checked her blood sugar once with the initial blood work then never looked at her again. Mind you she was an insulin dependent diabetic. THEY NEVER EVEN FED HER!!! She died four weeks later. This was just a week more than a year after the initial diagnosis. Then five months ago my grandfather goes in with a scratchy throat and is turned away. Over the past few months that tickle has become a lump. He can't swallow without food and drink going into his windpipe. When the doctor sent him to get some radiology test. Well, they couldn't do anything because the barium they gave him to drink went into his lungs and THEY SENT HIM HOME!!! The message never got to the doctor and two weeks later he said I had no idea, and proceeded to tell my grandfather he had to wait another 6 weeks for another test!!! Meanwhile this lump grows. And the emergency room people do nothing but tell him to go see his regular physician. I am so irate with the quality of care from here. I pray if I ever get hurt it's closer to a hospital that is even a little better than THIS because they'd probably let me die of a stroke if I had one there.

So I m late to the review experience. I have some health conditions so I have had to use the emergency services a few times. I would have given them a pretty good review; they were efficient and honest. Not always the best but the staff really tried.
June 1st: I was knocked out by a heavy object falling on my head. Because I live in onslow, I refused EMS because I WILL NOT use OMH. It was pretty obvious that I had a decent concussion but I was hoping it would resolve so I went home to lay down. It didn t so I had my husband take me to the ER. I couldn t speak, and I understand COVID protocol but no one could advocate or be my voice. Honestly, I don t remember a good deal of my experience. But my husband was not contacted to update or get history, to ask all of the questions they claimed I answered but didn t. The attending doctor decided that, due to I have no idea what, that I was faking. Granted, my HR and BP weren t stable, i was told I wasn t making sense by nurses; enough so to stroke code me. And, when they saw it wasn t a stroke, he wrote that I was malingering yet turned around and admitted me. I was there for 4 days. The hospitalist said nothing was wrong but wouldn t send me home, yet wouldn t treat me with anything at all either. Hands down, most ridiculous time of my life. NO referral to any specialists. Wouldn t even write concussion anywhere in my notes.....how? No clue.....I don t know if anyone even talked to my husband. Turned out I did have a severe concussion that has now elevated above to an actual brain injury. It saddens me because no one should ever be treated that way.

My experience with CarolinaEast Medical Center was absolutely wonderful. I want to commend every staff member within the various departments that I encountered for being courteous, professional, and informative. Although the circumstance that lead me to the facility was less than ideal, I will never forget the amazing care I received there. Keep up the good work.

Positively the worst experience I've ever had dealing with medical billing personnel. Even though I set up a payment plan with the hospital and paid every month on time, in spite of losing my job and being out of work for a while, they turned me over to their 'internal collections' department because my August payment arrived late due to September labor day holiday. And all over a $90 balance!
I continued to pay monthly the agreed-upon amount; my dependability was rewarded with their internal collections generating nasty letters threatening to involve the county sheriff, at this point over a $60 balance.
Now my balance is $40 and they are still unbelievably nasty.
These people are, without a doubt, the most ignorant, duplicitous bunch of morons I've ever dealt with and I would rather die than have to deal with them again, should I ever need a hospital in future.

Never had a good experience here. Even now, I went deaf in my left ear followed by excruciating pain. It's been an hour and no one bothered to even look in my ear. Also, we were in an intake room, and after about an hour, I went to explain the severity of the pain. 5 mins later, I was put out the room and back in a waiting area. Oh and my kids(14 yo and 9 months) are with me to be seen too and they weren't. I'm ready to go to the news and newspaper about them. I can't take it anymore.

I was in the hospital for 5 days in Jan 2015 for an unusual problem with an internal blood vessel. Just recently, had cut my hand and went to CarolinaEast Minor Emergency Care for sutures.

Both experiences were quite positive. Care was excellent. Very friendly staff.

Hospital, like doctors, are very polarizing. People hate them or love them depending on their individual experience. CEME has done the most of any hospital of which I'm aware to improve the quality of service. Was admitted about a year ago and everyone went out of their way to be attentive. Visited a number of people through our church and believe, for the most part, that still holds true.
