As a KETO eater it can often be more difficult to find menu options that work within my diet without having to substitute over half a meal. Not the case here! The options all looked amazing as the came out and the unique options were fun. We tried a variety and went tapas style. I recommend doing this and trying new meats. Great flavors and sauces.

Excellent service and very attentive staff! Even after trying all the different kinds of meat on offer multiple times, they would still come to my table and ask if I wanted some more or a specific kind which they would get a few moments later. The food itself was also amazing! Definitely try the ostrich and tee honey-glazed pork ribs!

Great experience of Nairobi local delights. We wanted halal food so they changed our flag from yellow to the green. Even then they brought us alligator meat which we humbly declined to eat.

Overall beef meat was 10/10 and lamb was 8/10. Didn t like turkey, chicken and ostrich meat much though.

Oh yeah ostrich liver was good as well.

We concluded with deserts and it was delightful too.

A very lovely place, good ambience, good food and in plenty, Good sounds and music;perfect grounds with ample parking space.Oh, they also accept payments in dollars but at a lower conversion rate. The staff are quite friendly and respectful to clients there and I really liked their fast service. I would also recommend prior bookings especially on weekends for good services. Kudos!

Now, this is a serious place!! These people have the biggest barbecue grill I ever saw. And I've seen some in my short time on earth.

First, the environment and ambience... It's tucked behind their sister hotel, the Tamarind Tree, which is itself an excellent hotel (that's subject for a separate review). Carnivore is a deliberately cozy place that gets a "natural, rural" ambience just right. It's a perfect reflection of the spirit of Kenya with it's many parks filled with a wondrous variety of wildlife. It's set away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but still close enough to be easily accessible. The greenery is an excellent touch and, again, in sync with the Kenyan experience.

The service. Oh, Lord! Where do I start from?! Let me open with "excellent!!" Carnivore is run by a particularly helpful and respectful staff. As soon as one steps in, they envelope you with warmth. They bend over backwards to make you feel at home. They take their time to answer questions and explain the exotic theme that you're experiencing, if you ask them. When I was there with a bunch of Sub-Saharan African scholars and Civil Society reps, they 'conveniently' forgot to explain that as soon as you came in, Carnivore was at "war" with you. Their objective is to feed you a wild assortment of meat and to do so in great quantum until you surrender by knocking over the flag on your table.

And the food was good!! They opened proceedings with this heavenly soup. All along, some nice fellow walked from table to table putting together this beautiful cocktail called "dawa" for any who were interested. I took mine with a shot of vodka.
The meat is served on hot cast-iron plates. The folks there carry the meat to your table on these big swords and carve unto your plate until you tell them to move along. They helpfully indicate which of the sauces (by now there is already a variety on the table) go with what meat. And you should listen to them.

There is no way that I can do Carnivore enough justice with this review. I am not a linguistically gifted mortal. I'd just say, if you happen to be in Nairobi for any reason, and you want a memorable experience, you may want to put Carnivore on the itinerary.

The experience is good if you like meat. They cook in an African barbecue and all the meat is fantastic. You can eat lamb, beef, pork, chicken, turkey, ostrich and crocodile, cook it in different ways. The all you can eat menu includes a soup as a starter, all the meat that you want, a dessert and tea or coffee. I highly recommend the passion fruit cheesecake! The price of the menu is 3400 ksh, and the drinks are not included. For example a beer is 400ksh, a coke 200 ksh and the cocktail they offer at the beginning 700 ksh. We really enjoyed our stay in the Carnivore restaurant!

The place has lost nothing of it's charm since it opened, back in the eighties. Well maintained, clean, attentive staff. The quality of the food varies sometimes, unfortunately. Several bars and a discotheque in the same location make it an interesting place to spend an evening.

The watershed of Nairobi nightlife. Brilliant service and great food and a wide array of wine to taste. Love it and would recommend anyone for a visit. Its very popular with tourists eager to enjoy some nyama choma (roast beef, chicken or goat)

One of the few places you have an opportunity of feasting on game meat. This includes The Nile Crocodile and Masai Ostrich. Mr. Dawa can quench your thirst with a touch of honey and vodka tailored specifically to your taste.

Always a place to enjoy with friends both national and international. The food is a party and the cocktail list is varied yet ALWAYS pick Dawa. Also music for ambience. Best to book dinner table for weekends. On weekdays I have chanced it without booking and was lucky.

Good food, good service, fun atmosphere.

Good food, good service, fun atmosphere.

These days they don't have anything very exotic on the menu. The most outside of ordinary thing you're likely to get is crocodile (a little like lobster), or buffalo testicle.

It's an iconic Nairobi mainstay. Worth doing once.

Obviously not a good option for vegans...
