Good place to be as a tourist. Had a taste of Crocodile, Ostrich Meats here.
Good place to be as a tourist. Had a taste of Crocodile, Ostrich Meats here.
Cool place, meant to be fancy sophisticated venue, it's more like an exotic steak House. The atmosphere is cool and the staff are a lot of fun. Oh and the food and drinks are sound.
We have come to this place because we read good reviews on Google. However, we got bitterly disappointed. First of all, we had to wait for over 20 minutes before our order was taken snd another hour until we got our order. Meat was dry, undercooked. Waitress was unfriendly, swarm of flies attack your food. Nothing like expected :( not for tourists!
Everything about it is superb, had wild meat so finger licking
One of the best restaurants I ate at in my two weeks visting Kenya. Standard meats served Brazilian style (cut off a skewer straight onto your plate). They serve ostrich, ostrich meatballs, crocodile, rabbit, and many common meats such as beef and chicken. Don't go if you're vegetarian, as my group didn't enjoy the vegetarian dishes very much.
As the name suggests be ready to eat lots of meat even game
It's a fun experience with good quality meat.
Fixed price for all you can eat is about EUR 35, drinks are on the expensive side for Nairobi but still acceptable.
Heavy traffic when driving from the city during rush hour (5-8pm), it took us 75 min from Gigiri.
A must do experience when in town.
Very very gift food. Fresh and well made. One of the oldest restaurants in Nairobi and still going strong. No wonder.!
Restaurant specializing in grilled meats. Very good atmosphere and the food is good.
Loved Carnivore! Amazing service. The meat selection is fantastic. Went twice on my trip to Kenya!
Really nice and cool environment with all sorts of meat. Eat until you are tired
Great place and awesome service especially if you have children. We had a blast.
Food is pretty tasty but you have to be prepared to eat everything they put in front of you. The only bad thing is that we tried to buy a whole bottle of Rum and they told us that they didn't have enough bottles (it was New year's Eve)
Excellent restaurant and the the best grilled meat in town
Carnivore gives exemplary nyama choma ,so Beast of a feast, you can't afford to miss
Expensive...have stopped making the thick fluffy chips and their direction red hone made sauce.. good standards good. Service very slow. Everything else very nice-kids area and entertainment, bar, food portions. and have kept much of the decor as original as it was 20years ago...
Standards have dropped. It was dirty. Service was poor. Staff not focused or overwhelmed
Happening, hopping, all you can eat meats of all kinds. Fun, good service, check it out if you're in Nairobi.
Amazing hospitality, amazing food, amazing atmosphere
Service levels not as they have been before; they get overwhelmed by numbers.
+: great service, friendly atmosphere, clean restaurant. Location is very safe (gated)
-: meats were not as exotic as suggested, some meats were dry/overcooked, very expensive for what you're getting
The meat at carnivore is just out of this planet. The customer service is great. There is enough parking
Best BBQ place .... international standards with with varieties of meats .....
Very friendly and attentive staff and all you can eat with great variety. Unfortunately the meat quality was rather disappointing and apart from a small salad and few pieces of potato basically no sides were offered. Would have expected better for the price.
The food is great and they do keep coming to offer more meat. The service is good and a lot of people help out (though at the end it felt a bit like they were rushing us, hence the 4 stars). I particularly liked the server offering the special house cocktail who mixes it for you right by the table. Overall good value and a nice experience not to be missed in Nairobi.
Grilled meats are the main attraction here. There's some of just about everything--although don't expect anything more exotic than farm-raised crocodile and ostrich. (Consumption of wild game is frowned upon on Kenya, which has outlawed hunting.) The quality of the cut you get depends on what happens to be under the server's machete when he gets to your plate; several of the pieces I was served were tough and full of gristle. Despite the focus on meat, the restaurant does offer several vegetarian choices, and fish. If you order from the meat menu, however, that's about all you get other than bread; salads and sides are definitely an afterthought. Desserts are OK, but nothing special.
Was there for the jazz festival it is an amazing place.
It was wonderful, and accommodating exciting . Different messy to eat
The food is really nice. They offer a variety of delicious meats that can be paired with home-made sauces. The sauces were excellent. They brought a separate meat platter for celiac travellers in order to avoid cross-contamination. The local Diwa drink is very recommended!
Think this is a restaurant on most people's to do list when visiting Nairobi. It is unique in the way the food is served, carved directly onto your plate at the table and maybe that is worth the visit alone just for the "experience".
The restaurant completely lives up to its name in the sense that it is purely about the meat. You get a steaming hot plate with 1 lonely potato, a selection of sauces to accompany the meats and some sides including; cous cous and a warm sweaty salad.
The vast selection of meats came thick and fast(to begin with) and I think at 1 stage, I had 7 or 8 different types of meat on my plate which became an ordeal to get through. All were cooked perfectly fine and the experience is like no where else but it is literally all about eating as much meat as possible and less about the quality.
Starters(bowel of soul) and desserts also included in the price. Easily the most expensive meal I've had in East Africa.
Good food offered... Nyama choma and game meat in plenty.... Excellent services.
Amazing place for Meat Lovers wanting to try new things. Great environment decorations and staff. I recommend to go at dinner time because after having dinner there s a place nearby to party. You have to try the crocodile
Carnivore is an absolute must visit when in Nairobi. This is truly a meat paradise with exceptional service. We were well served and the meat keeps on coming. On Fridays they have a dance floor for the more adventurous. Great restaurant!
Amazing food and excellent service. Well worth a visit.
Great service but my expectations were not met. Closed down for the night before I was done
The ambiance and food was fantastic and tried crocodile meat for the first time as much as I avoided it for the longest time and what a taste!! Best meat of the day!! Ate too much meat for the whole week
One of the best event hosts in Nairobi. You will never be disappointed. Strategically positioned for mind relaxation, comfort and entertainment. Its the best place to be!
Easy to see why its one of the top restaurants in africa. Checks all the boxes from service to an out of this world menu
What an experience. Tried alligator. It was delicious. Also had ostrich. Left feeling very full & satisfied. Fun place to go.
Great food and quality service to customers and clients as well.. clean and tidy
If I could award 10 stars I would do it 10 times over, best experience ever
Though the meat choice is less tham a few years ago
Great food but when it rains the mud makes it hard to walk. Always ensure to carry a jacket or warm clothing. It has a beautiful traditional look. It also offers variety of meat dishes that you will enjoy. It is spacious and a good spot to enjoy with friends or family.
Good food, good ambience. Need to improve on the toilets though.
We had game meat at carnivore restaurant, unforgettable experience
My review being a tour guide is based on comparisons with similar places. Food is perfect but they could do better with the ambience, the place needs a facelift, reception staff can be very slow at times before showing the clients to their table as happened on my last visit
Still the same old restaurant that has maintained its charm. Good food and ambience. Less one star for its slow lunch service and forgotten orders.
