The food and drinks was very good. The staff was so nice. Just wish they stayed open past 10pm. And I was super happy that they was practicing social distancing. Would definitely go back again. Beautiful and colorful decor.
This is my time first time ever at Carnivale restaurant it was a great time great food and I most definitely will be back again.
I promise you won't be disappointed. Especially if your are from out of town and is looking for a place not too far off downtown area. I cannot exaggerate how delicious the food is. Please RSVP!
Our server was very attentive and simply amazing, I wish I remembered his name, but he made our visit even more special!! All drinks and food were very good, never tried something that was shaped and even tasted like a cigar (surprisingly tasty).

The guacamole was ok, not the best I ve had so if you feel that because is a latin place you must have it, great but I would get the ceviche, we ordered some Coconut ceviche or something like that (I know it was served on a coconut and it came with coconut water, which was randomly placed by the server next to the ceviche, he did not explain what was that for. Should I drink it? Pour it in the ceviche? Ignore it?. I d have appreciated some guidance. Or maybe it s really obvious and I m a ignorant, who knows), anyways what I was trying to say, the ceviche was good!.
Drinks, I got a couple of caipirinha. Which I think were good, I enjoyed them. It s definitely a fun, I would give it a try you can have a good time there.

This is the most gorgeous restaruant I have ever been to! It's so gorgeous and colorful! The atmosphere is so fun! The food was alright but it is really expensive! Not great for a budget but for a fabulous night out, it is perfect!
We came with a party of 18, including a couple of kids under 10. The food was good though overpriced. The environment is visually vibrant but noisy, and the service was spotty. It could be our waiter was just having an off night or there was a staffing issue. He was slow in getting the orders taken, food/drinks were delivered to the wrong people, and he was seemingly unable to figure out how to split the checks as instructed.
Probably a better destination for a smaller group, who likes creative/exotic drinks, without younger children, and don't mind the noise and prices (or the R rated pictures in the restrooms).
Chicago has so many amazing restaurants with food that's as good or better for the price, and with much better service.

I can t believe i m writing this review. Heard so much great things about this place and finally was able to go for my first time to celebrate our anniversary with my girlfriend. Got a Valet they provided right outside the restaurant. Food was good, we had a good time. Gave the Valet a great tip as well. I got home and turned on my flash to give my car a quick check since it was a busy street outside carnivale. There was a huge fresh scratch on the driver side front bumper. I cant believe this! This ruined our whole night that was suppose to be fun. I hold the restaurant and the valet equally responsible for this!

Well, it's expensive and they sat us next to a busy kitchen door, but this restaurant is so intriguing! The main room is so fantastically decorated. I noticed large drapes cascading from the middle of the ceiling. We came on the wrong night, because twice a month they have aerialists performing on those drapes. The food was amazing. We shared the pulpo a la gallega. The octopus was cooked perfectly. I liked the blackened garlic sauce, but my wife liked the bits of pepper with her octopus. I ordered the lechon. The portion wasn't huge, but the flavor was. My wife got the churrasco. So good! We were disappointed that the cabernet was something we could have bought at target, but we're not big spenders on wine at restaurants. We need to go back. I need to see one of their Friday dinner shows.
We went here for my birthday and it was so much fun! Go on a friday night when they have live entertainment. It starts around 8ish if I remember correctly. Either way you get a nice big cotton candy for your birthday! We also got the Cubano for dessert and it smelled just like a Cuban cigar, and it was delicious!
Food and service were fantastic. Came here for our anniversary dinner. Prices are a little high, but I always expect that in the city. Food tastes fantastic and I don't leave disappointed. Music is a bit loud and they cranked it up at 8.
The gaucho steak I got was nothing but fat. I couldn't even cut it from any angle to even attempt to get any meat. And this was the most expensive steak on the menu at $56. I told our server how bad it was, and she immediately offered me a menu to choose something else. I ordered a pasta dish that was really bad. My husband did not like his barbacoa potpie, and I didn't either. Even the dessert tasted funky. We usually like something everywhere we go. Service was very good.
This is a great place. The food is amazing and the they have great drinks. I was there for Sunday brunch, which is not their full dinner menu, but still had plenty of amazing food to choose from.
What a cool place! Talk about atmosphere. Been here a fe Times for parties or work events, and the food is top notch. Had a meat and cheese plate with family style breakfast- chicken and waffles and quiche. The place is decorated in vibrant colors with cool photos on the walls. Perfect date night spot or place to meet up for dinner with friends. Eat to get to off the highway and only a 15 minute walk from Union Station.
Carnivale is a great place to enjoy great food and a fabulous atmosphere. The space is truly incredible perfect for date nights, big groups, a few friends, or even events. I love the colorful decor which makes the whole dining experience at Carnivale even better. And the food and drinks are great, too.
Also, Carnivale offers great cocktail and cooking classes throughout the year including their University 101 series with Tequila 101, Mojitos 101, etc. It's just such a fun place with great menu items.
The service was excellent but the food was no worth the price
Very cool atmosphere. Loved the high ceilings and colorfulness of the decor. Food was kind of overpriced compared to the quality. Was hoping for a little more Latin influence in my food but came up short of expectations.
This place really does take you into another world. The decor is so colorful and the dining area is one HUGE open space. Loved seeing people enjoying their foods and conversations. Took my friend here for her birthday. The service was excellent and the food was great. Well, except for mine. I ordered a pork dish and I couldn't finish it. But the rest of the party really loved their meals. Sort of on the pricey end so I wouldn't come here for any regular dinner but it's definitely a nice treat to come here for dinner. From what I remember, the empanadas really stood out, delish!

Went here with a few of my sweet friends from college I hadn't seen in quite a while. After seeing the prices, it was kind of a relief to find out that one of the girls' dads wanted to treat us to whatever we wanted. Definitely expensive, but the food is absolutely delicious and our waiter was super attentive and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is very bright and colorful to go with the Brazillian vibe, but there were some pretty explicit photos on the walls that were detracting and unnecessary. I would think twice about coming back for that reason. Overall though, it was a nice place for a dressed-up night on the town with friends.

Great meal and service. Tables were distanced well. The skirt steak is excellent: tender and extremely flavorful. Scallops were super flavorful and cooked perfectly. The bacon also complemented it perfectly, adding a light salt factor to the scallops sweetness. Coconut cake was meh, but was a giant portion, easily serving three. All in all would eat here again!
The restaurant is nice, excellent service and the food tastes good although its quantities are a bit small. I recommend the dessert of the three milk covered with chocolate, simply delicious.

The place is a tropical song and music video come to life. The bright colors are inviting, the wall art is interesting and the different seating areas are diverse. They had unisex bathrooms, one person at the time, and clean.

I went here for a wedding reception. The party room was very nice, the decor is dark and interesting. The staff was very helpful. The food was delicious. We had ceviche, which was really well seasoned. There was guacamole and chips on the table to start. The dinner was served family style. Big plates of meat, fish, potatoes, mac and cheese. Everyone enjoyed the food very much, and especially the drinks. We had a great time here. I would love to have a party here.

With so many options for authentic Latin cuisine, it can be hard for one restaurant to stand out. However, Carnivale's trendy crowd, excellent food, and downtown location make it a must-visit.

Was there for a wedding and am handicapped. Had to push thru garbage to get to wheelchair lift. Then had to wait to be walked to (way to far for someone who has trouble walking) the elevator, only to find out it was a freight elevator. Bathrooms were not kept clean. Great food

We attended their Halloween brunch. Free mimosa for the adults who dressed up, festivities for the kids, and a photo booth. Loved the interior and the service was great. You can make a reservation, so you don't have to wait to be seated. Cool spot.

It used to be one of my favorite Restaraunt s until my last visit because of the unique vibrancy of the decor and the intense flavor of the food. I visited on Friday to find out it was day 1 of a new menu the day I decided to bring a friend for birthday. We had several challenges...1. The Bday girl was given the wrong order not by our assigned server & while everyone ate she hd to wait for her food. 2. Ropa Vieja that I have ordered for yrs was changed from braised short rib-beef to lamb(so dissapointed) 3. The size of steak on the Arecherra & portion of rice has gotten smaller (flavor still great). The best part was our waiter Rick and the cotton candy martini.

Made a reservation for Carnivale.Upon arrival and checking in the ladies at the host stand were not friendly at all. When we were seated I was surprised and angry to find out that we were sat by the bathrooms even with a reservation. No one wants to sit by a bathroom when eating food. The food itself was pretty good but I could not enjoy it because of the constant reminder of our terrible table due to the foot traffic of people coming and going into the bathroom. What s the point of a reservation if you re just going to get the worst seat in the house.
Very comfortable brunch venue just off of 90/94 in the west loop. There are some bold and vibrant colors on the inside, top quality design.
