Ok place. Dated but they plan to update. I would say it is just not as welcoming as other Y's I have been to.

I really enjoy the athletic programs here and so do my kids.
Offers a wide variety of group classes with excellent instruction.
I'm biased because I work there, but I love the Carlisle YMCA!
Friendly and helpful staff nice place for book and used furniture shopping.
Update 11/2019...
Rejoined today...Nothing has changed, but I see the exciting new building plans. Missed this Y.
Please consider placing some regular cycling bikes in the gym like other Y's have (so can spin where there's TV's and when there's no class) also we're all hoping will add a whirlpool-Spa?
2017 review...
Friendly staff and everyone there seems nice. Great pool and like that it opens early (the one big thing they're missing...a Whirlpool/ Jacuzzi SPA as feels great on sore muscles)
This is my 2nd home I love this facility & can't wait to see what the future holds for the Carlisle YMCA. For anyone who hasn't joined, I recommend you to take a tour & try it out you won't be disappointed especially now that they offer 24 hour acces .
The swim instructor is fanastic. The classes fill up very fast though.
The Carlisle YMCA is a very good family-friendly place to swim, workout, play basketball and so much more
Great fun this summer especially enjoyed the policeman and his K9 companion
Staff is usually friendly. Building is clean. I only use the workout area. Cardio equipment can take a while to get repaired. Same for weight machines.
I am persistently confronted with welcoming staff. The place always looks clean. My kids love camp and meet new friends. Any chance we get, we try to go for exercise and play.
This is a great gym. The equipment is a bit older and the fitness center can get really crowded, but this gym offers a lot of fun classes with very friendly instructors who know their stuff. You'll love it there.
I like this YMCA. The staff is very helpful and the facilities are good. I have used the pool and the life guards are super. Thanks Y people.
Being alone in life, I feel like I don't belong and shouldn't be in that place since they call themselves "FAMILY YMCA". I prefer YMCA's that are welcome to the WHOLE community, even us nobodies with no families of our own.
Bias place!! Need new staff with better people and communication skills , lose the attitude or just find another job ... Period
If you want to use the pool it's a real challenge to find a time period that isn't scheduled for classes, eyc
I have a long history with this particular YMCA, from prior employee, working out, swim team, and now taking my family. It's in a very convenient location if you live in Carlisle- easy to get to on foot, bike, or car. However, it's an old facility and some parts are looking very long in the tooth, especially when compared to other, newer facilities. The basketball gym (2nd floor) and the pool (1st floor) look like throwbacks to the 1970s, with enough upkeep to keep them functional. I heard of a capital campaign and effort to relocate, but that doesn't appear to have happened. In the meantime, it's still a good, convenient place to go or take your family, with helpful friendly people.
They have what matters most, but would certainly like to see expansion- a larger, more family oriented pool, larger work-out area, and updated sport areas (e.g. basketball, racquetball).
I called and emailed to see the availability of childcare for the upcoming year. I never received a call back or a response to my email. Very poor customer service.
Young Men's Christian Association of Carlisle, PA is the perfect place to unwind and then rev-up your work out!! It provides a multitude of different exercise options. Fun for the whole family!!
Great family place with tons of different activities for kids, adults and the whole family.
The staff is nice, the equipment is nice, and the price is fantastic! I will be a constant member here.
My favorite place to work out. I have access to a free gym, but I come here for the atmosphere, community, classes, and the pool.
The Carlisle YMCA is the best I learned how to swim from the amazing people there Mr. John
The Carlisle YMCA is a joke. Don't waste your time there. They Falsely accuse people of things they haven't done.
Even if i wasnt pregnant right now id give this ymca a -5. I only need the pool and 1. U need a reservation for 1 lane. 2. U can only have the lane for 1 hr. And 3. There r zero pool equipment there, not even 1 little therapeutic jet! 4. Its a very small pool for a town even as one as small as carlisle. I wouldnt even pay 10$ a month to use it.
I'll stick to driving 20 extra minutes to the next town and pay my 70$ a month fee for a worthy fitness center ty compared to their 40$ membership. Wat a joke of a facility just like most of this town.
P.s the entire facility seems to have a stagnacy odor to it and just makes one feel "down" like in a jail cell. They just need 2 bull doze it all down and restart from scratch in my opinion.
