It was a short stay, but accommodations were wonderful.
Great rooms, good location, and free parking spot included. Main building suggested
Nice and clean Hotel. It's also a block away from the rail station.
Incredibly helpful and accommodating event staff, the space is on the small side and somewhat generic but they make up for it with excellent service and a quick response time along with an excellent menu from their in-house restaurant
Very nice place to stay. Clean, comfortable variety of restaurants. Finding our room was an ordeal so get specific instructions as to which elevator to take. Otherwise very good!
Stayed here in July, photographs and description show a beautiful old hotel on a quaint street. Our room was NOT in this beautiful building but in what appeared to be a 1950's motel around the block serviced by an outside balcony, no elevator and a bathroom so small you had to literally open the door in order to dry off from the shower.
On the positive side, the hotel was located walking (less than a mile) distance from the train that takes you into the city and the quaint downtown of Oak Park and walking distance ( about a mile) from the Frank Lloyd Wright home and office. The room was clean and the staff very friendly when I spoke with them directly, but my room was not made up after the first night stay and a request for towels went unanswered.
I guess I felt tricked having seen a beautiful old hotel in the photographs and descriptions and then ended up in a Motel around the block.
A classic hotel with lots of nice old woodwork . . . and some modernization. It smelled musty in the hallways--the ancient carpet should be replaced. Otherwise it seemed clean . . . the desk clerk did not impress as friendly or professional. Good location. Pub-like restaurant on premises sold us an above average breakfast and the staff was friendly.
Great hotel, went to a wedding here and the food was amazing and the accommodations were great!!!
A very interesting retro look in a quaint neighborhood. Bathroom was a bit cramped but the rooms were clean and staff were courteous.
Nice vintage hotel in a very nice part of town. Once you park, everything you need is within walking distance.
Comfortable room accommodations. Pleasant & helpful staff especially at the reception. We have been here for a romantic party of two and they are very accommodating! Will definitely come again.
The hotel overall was nice, but after the first time I used my room keys every day, I had to go and get it replaced because they stopped working. Other than that my stay was really good.
Nice rooms, but dated furniture. Overall, a nice stay.
This service is awful! I stayed for two nights and both nights I found bugs in my bed. There were also dead bugs in the bathroom, which mind you, is NOT wheelchair accessible. I was visiting to see a friend because she is in the hospital. This was the closest hotel to where she was at, and they did not make it worth my money or time. I will never be visiting here again for my own personal safety. And the odor! Don t even get me started. It smelled like it hadn t been cleaned in weeks.
Amazing store and the staff is awesome. The prices are fantastic and the products are awesome. Recommended.
Excellent service... Clean facilities , great courtesy !!
Old but stylish hotel. Clean and well maintained. Large room. The staff is friendly. The breakfast is rather below average but still ok. Very pleasant is the location in the middle of 'downtown' of Oak Park. This district is already - and is still partially - renovated and renovated. Many nice cafes, restaurants and bars in direct, within walking distance, environment. Ample and free parking directly at the hotel.
About your only choice in Oak Park.
Next time I would check out the motor court.
The rooms in the main hotel are small and overpriced
This was a very nice hotel and reasonably priced. I will definitely come back here soon.
Stayed for a wedding. The rooms were spacious, clean, and reasonably priced. The venue was nice with two restaurants/bars onsite. I don't have a foreseeable reason to be in the area again, but would stay here if I was.
An A-OK hangout. Used to be a fairly good steak joint. Now more all around restaurant. Good place to eat.
Service was wonderful. Dinner was really nice as well. Very clean.
The hotel is lovely, cozy and juuuust fancy enough to make someone special feel special.
We can t fault this hotel for they have very accommodating staff and they have complete facilities. We even had hot water bottles! Everything you could think of was available. Fresh fruit and cheese were waiting for us. Our travel agent made the booking so I m not sure what it cost but I'm sure it was not too pricey because I did pay too much. Five-star for this hotel!
A very neat hotel with spacious rooms and great location.
I wad in a hall for info on a product. The room and bathrooms were clean
Beautiful hotel. Rooms lovely. Quiet. Staff very accommodating
Excellent location and nice ballroom. Was there for a 50th birthday party. I would describe the hotel is vintage. Is only about eight miles from the loop what a world of difference located in historic Oak Park. We were served excellent food and received outstanding service. If you want to beat the prices of downtown and still be in a comfortable venue, check this joint out. The hotel also has two restaurants with nice bars.
Everything was very clean and new. And a/c was excellent.
The Carleton of Oak Park Hotel! Remember this hotel as this is the best wedding venue hotel! Food is superb! Our guests all enjoyed the food that was served from the Hors d'oeuvre to the full course dinner. The open bar is amazing, the drinks are mix to perfection. Prices are excellent. Our suite room is very clean and spacious, it got everything that you need. The staffs are very professional, friendly and accomodating most especially Maura. Thank you Maura for all your patience and help in the planning of our wedding. You made us feel at home and comfortable from the beginning of planning until our wedding day. Overall, I give this hotel a 5 star. I'm not kidding! If you want a memorable wedding that won't break your bank with the perfect ambiance, great food, great venue, great staff then you should check The Carleton of Oak Park Hotel! More power to you guys! Hope you get to help other couples achieve their dream wedding like we did.
nice affordable hotel with friendly staff. Its an older hotel but well maintained. They need to step into 2018 with respect to wifi strength and the check in/check out systems. .
Good location. Reasonable hotel. This was a very nice hotel and reasonably priced. I will definitely come back here when I visit Chicago again.
This is the 3rd time staying here and love staying here
The check in process was so easy and the rooms very spacious and beautifully designed.
Nice hotel sometimes questionables hanging around but really great hotel
Great location with lots of charm. Free parking is included. Ronnie and Desiree at the front desk were so welcoming and friendly. They really added to our stay! The room was comfortable and clean. I would stay here again.
Great location for visiting friends in Oak Park. A nice hotel with old school charm. Rooms are great service is great. Great for walking around downtown Oak Park and enjoying the area.
Attended a meeting in the grand ballroom. Off street parking was free and easy. Front desk was knowledgeable and helpful. Bathrooms were clean. Very nice hotel.
Rooms are ok for an old hotel. No work out room but the free pass to the YMCA one block away is better. Great location downtown Oak Park.
We had a pre-wedding celebration in their Foxboro banquet room. The banquet room was a perfect size and very classy. The food was amazing and the staff was very attentive. Looking for a wedding venue look no further.
Very nice place the staff are great very professional nice clean place to stay I would recommend
For the money its OK. Its clean and has a nice closet and kitchen area. I stayed in the one story attachments adjacent to the hotel proper which I only knew about by reading other reviews so I was prepared for that possibility...but they dont advertise this fact. I would stay here again if I just needed a place to stay...but if I want to have a bit of the chicago experience...I will stay downtown.
WOW! What a concept. They have these really short toilets with a water level about 3 or 4 inches below the rim. Then they added a sunken lid that lets you sink down in and guys can soak there junk while taking a dump. HOW THOUGHTFUL.
Visited the restaurant ....great food...and nice hall for the events.
Went there for a training. Beautiful place. I did not have the opportunity to grow the rooms.
It s very conveniently located, very reasonably priced and has some great restaurants.
Decor was perfect for the event (holiday party). Rooms for the event were spacious and good.
Favorite hotel of all time! They have AWESOME restaurant and incredible bar on first floor. Murphy family knows hospitality.
Hotel is well situated in "downtown" Oak Park. Building included inside access to two restaurants. Had a nice large and clean room. Included a bathroom +ext vanity and a kitchen +small dining area. Staff was courteous and professional.
The staff was amazing, loved being there for my family reunion. I will be back!
Have stayed here many times. Staff rates us well. Rooms are fine. Location is great.
A beautiful very quaint hotel decorated very elegantly nice and quiet staff was friendly and so where the other gas
My go to hotel when we stay in Oak Park. Very nice rooms with reasonable rates and free parking. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
The conference room was very clean and I enjoyed my time there.
Room was nice but aging, chipped paint and the door got stuck when opening or closing. Lobby is beautiful, we were on the third floor. Elevators fit 4 people Max, bring an umbrella as parking is inconvenient if it's raining and you will get soaked.
The Oak Park Carlton Hotel is great! We stayed in the Motor inn, which was part of the Carleton. Pros: The hotel\room was clean, the bed sheets were
clean, friendly staff, a great coffee maker, as well as t.v. Cons: The wifi was extremely limited in where we stayed, and there was only one mirror/trash bin. Also, the bathtub was chipped, and the maid only did her job correctly 1 out of the 4 days we stayed there.
I had awesome experience i this great hotel. The breakfast was amazing. Recommended.
Amazing food and drinks! Service is second to none. Will be back for sure!
The Carleton is perfectly located in the fashionable Oak Park neighborhood outside of Chicago. The Green Line station is maybe a block away and there are several nearby restaurants and shops. We stayed in the "motor lodge" annex that looks to have been added in the 1950s or 1960s. The room was perfect for our uses and included a small refrigerator, microwave, and wet bar. The bathroom was pretty small (I bumped my head on the towel rack more than once), but functional. I highly recommend the place for Chicago lodging. Docked a star for the size of the bathroom and for the limited seating at breakfast.
Very clean and welcoming appeal. Well organized event room. I was there for a training session with Intraloc and the Illinois lottery. May have fell in love with Rebecca! But cant find her again! Excellent experience all around
The hotel was a pleasant experience, with a clean room, plenty of lighting, a good bathroom, decent food at the attached restaurants, and free WiFi! I would stay again.
Extremely comfortable, polite employees, brought us an extra bed an a bottle opener upon requet
Nice hotel and friendly staff. Rooms are clean and well decorated. Also, its within walking distance to many wonderful restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.
My good friends' rehearsal dinner for their wedding was at the Carleton. It was a fantastic evening overall. The staff was courteous and kind and the building was beautiful.
The location was easy to get to. The staff were very polite and helpful. The hotel itself was beautiful.
Nice big room. Fridge and microwave. All entrances have stairs, which is inconvenient for bags.
