Do not use Design Carpet because they scammed us and our insurance company. In 1999, we had red oak floors installed throughout the entire downstairs of our house from another company. They were absolutely beautiful for 14 years until our hot water heater overflowed while we were out of town and flooded the downstairs of our house. In 2013, our insurance company strongly recommended Design Carpet to install new red oak floors throughout the entire downstairs of our house. They were paid over $40,000 to install the new red oak wood floors.
Within a few weeks of installation, the wood started to cup along the width of all of the boards so we called Design Carpet to come over to fix the problem. The owner, David, and the manager, Steve, came up with all kinds of excuses as to why this had happened and said that it was our fault. However, all of the conditions that they said caused the problem had existed prior to when they installed the floors and there was never a problem with our original hardwood floors that we had for 14 years. So at the very least, they didn t do their job to ensure that their floors had the right external conditions to be viable.
Their recommendation was that we file another insurance claim. They wanted to completely replace the floors that had just been installed. When I said that I would owe $4000 for the deductible, they said that they would work with us. Their recommendation to fix the problem was to commit insurance fraud.
We lived with the cupped floors for seven years. A few months ago, we had several other floor companies come to our house to tell us what could be done. These other companies said that the floors just needed to be sanded flat and that would fix the problem. Again, we called David from Design Carpet to come over and he still continued to give us the run around. He would not even bother to give us a bid to sand the floors even though we asked several times. It cost us $9000 to hire another company to sand and stain our floors. It has been several months since the floors were refinished and they look fantastic! This is something that Design Carpet should have done to our floors to fix them at no cost to us but instead they wanted to rip us off and our insurance company too.
Do NOT do business with this company. I was provided a quote for the installation of about 270 sq foot of luxury vinyl tile. The quote was provided on November 1st. The installer (Gustavo) and a helper came out and floated the floor on November 7th. At this point I am happy with the work and timing to complete the job. The next day, Gustavo and his helper returned to install the vinyl tile. The work was complete in about 2 hours after his arrival. Upon initial inspection of the flooring, the seams looked tight and the floor felt solid to walk on. However, the next morning, as the light is shining through the window, I noticed that the tiles were not staggered according to the instructions. The instructions stated adjacent tile seams should have a separation of at least 6" and many of the rows of tile in my installation were not. In the set there are 10 plank variations. In my installation there were many sections where the same plank was placed adjacently or at every other row. In one section of 7 planks, 4 were the same. In the entryway to the room there is a section of 9 planks, there is 3 plank variations. Because the planks are not staggered well, the issue is VERY noticeable. I called on Monday, the 11th and spoke with Nici. She said that Gustavo would return to complete the work but she as not able to give me more detail (time, day, etc.). I call back Friday and was told that someone would call me back. Nici calls me on Saturday and says that Gustavo can return on Thursday or Friday. Today is Thursday and I hadn't heard anything from the company so I called and was told that Gustavo would be out on Saturday. I will not be home on Saturday. I have asked to talk to a manager / owner but I have not yet received a call from one yet. The problem is UNRESOLVED.
Overall: Poor attention to detail; Poor communication; Poor customer service. This could have been an easy win for this company which would have left to more work in other parts of the house. If anyone knows of a flooring company with good customer service, please feel free to contact me.

It is a Company recognized locally by numerous construction and decorating companies, it has an extensive Show Room, sellers with a lot of experience in the field of flats, office staff very attentive to customers.
