Captain's Club Hotel Review

Very good service excellent place to have a meal and a cream teas were nice

Sadly I was there to say goodbye to someone. The venue was very appropriate for such a gathering of people.

Good for lunch nice views over looking the river bit long for service

Although I have added 4 stars I want to note some helpful comments.

We arrived and were pleasant surprised about the technology to enter your car reg. I was most pleased not to walk back to the car and pop the permit in.

However as 3 young girls with a hearty appetite we initially found the menu for lunch confusing.. a lot of dishes seemed to be starters and only one dish included in our price. I must say what a relief when the fantastic portions arrived! One complaint would be that we were offered some exciting deserts and later told they weren't included. What a shame captain club!

The spa was basic but the bubbles had the desired relaxation effect and the treatments weren't offensive and the staff were very friendly.

On steam room but who's perfect?

Spent the evening eating and drinking with friends on a birthday night out. The service was brill, food excellent and a good choice of drinks at a reasonable price. It's not the first time we've been here at definitely not the last.

Exceptional food and service, special mention for Bev, Vigor and Will for looking after us so well. Andy Gault the executive chef has it nailed with such an amazing menu, with something for everyone and the all day menu is a delight. Don't forget the sublime afternoon teas too, simply scrumptious

Took my girlfriend for a birthday surprise spa facial and overnight stay. We both really enjoyed ourselves. Beautiful room and river views. First class food and really pleasant staff. Our stay slightly marred by our room heating not working properly no joke in January! But the staff were marvellous. Extra duvet provided and a discount off our bill. I look forward to staying again.

Lovely Hotel and spa perfect for anyone looking for a Riverside retreat with quick and easy access to Christchurch town center only a 4 minute walk away it is the perfect hotel for someone looking to relax although it is not cheap. Lovely staff and some of the best service you will ever receive. Owners are often there and take very good care of the hotel and you. I live very local and highly recommend the Captains Club. If you do not live in the area there are plenty of nice restaurants in the area but if you wish to stay in the hotel there is superb food also. I also recommend Bodega which is a wine and tapas bar the best in the area although it is fairly new it is only a 2 minute walk and perfect for summer or winter evenings.

Beautiful setting on the river, large terrace area to sit out in. Lovely food and a cosey atmosphere.
Spa was heaven, went mid week so was quite quiet. Staff can't do enough for you and the treatment was amazing and the pool area is lovely to sit at. Do grab some bites while you in the Spa area if your hungry.

Lovely hotel, nice views has small & compacted spa, staff need to be more observant and attentive to diners. hot food & drinks left waiting to be taken out to customers while staff talked among themselves.

Super lunch there recently. Fishcakes, home-made soup etc. all very tasty and beautifully presented. In relaxing and classy surroundings. I just wish the portions had been a little bigger

Waited ages for breakfast and when it came the bacon was grey and fatty and the egg dirty and oily plus dodgy looking tinned mushrooms. It looked like a plate of leftovers so I couldn't touch it and told the waiter to take it away. Within minutes I was given a healthier looking one albeit tasteless. Money was refunded somewhat reluctantly by a skittish manageress. Food disgusting whereas before it was exceptional. This place gets rave reviews but has gone down in the last two years. Rooms dirty and some male waiters look in need of a good wash. Very disappointing.

We had our Christmas works do here. Spot on with everything, venue, service, quality, quantity, disco, table settings, decorations and the cleanliness.of the facilities. Highly recommended.

It's really lovely place to stop for a drink or something to eat, we sat outside watching the boats & swans

Very nice afternoon tea at a reasonable price in a lovely setting. No offers of another pot of tea unlike other venues with the same star ratings in the area which was a little disappointing. A rather loud environment too.

Going to Captains club hotel &spa was a good experience, we went for dinner and was served within a few minutes. We would go there again.

Lovely location on the Christchurch River, quality food and drink. Little bit expensive but suited to the type of venue.

Great Hotel and Awesome cocktail bar, food was ace. The swimming pool was on the small side but would definitely visit again and wouldn t hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.

An upmarket restruarant, food and service was out standing. Location is perfect alongside the river. Parking is however in short supply give yourselves plenty of time to find parking in the town.

Wonderful service .Lovely food and beautiful surroundings but was totally blown away by the fact we had to pay a pound an hour to park in their carpark.

The hotel looks good, the location is great and the rooms are nice...but I'm always left underwhelmed. The restaurant and food should be fantastic but they aren't: it's just very average which is a huge disappointment when everything else is done well.
