I've had foot and ankle issues. My orthopedic doctor suggested I give them a try saying the staff know running mechanics and are much better than most places at putting you in the right shoe. He was right and now I won't go anywhere else for my running shoes. I also have gotten others in the family going here. They also have a freq. shopper type program.
Knowledgeable, helpful staff who are obviously runners themselves and have years of experience. Store is clean, has a lot of shoe, apparel, nutrition, and accessory options. Probably won't get as great of a deal as you can get online, but would recommend this place if you need assistance/advice.

Best in Raleigh! They cater to runners and walkers with equal enthusiasm. Great shoe selection, and often have great sales prices. Very knowledgeable staff will help you find the right shoe for your foot. Also very active in the community, sponsoring several running/walking training programs as well as local races and charity events.
Was there recently for a group run with the Jeff Galloway Marathon Training Group. The staff was friendly and helpful, nice store.
Were able to find a stability racing spike for me. I had been looking for years before they helped. Great selection and they give discounts to local XC teams if they all come at once.
I was looking for a new pair of running shoes and a student recommended Capital Run Walk. I went in on Tuesday, had amazing service from a very cute girl. I've gone out twice in the new shoes and couldn't be happier. Great shop.

I m absolutely amazed at the staff of this store. I ve never had better customer service at any other shoe store I ve ever been to. The store manager, John, is incredible and goes above and beyond to help you find exactly what you want & need according to your budget and shoe needs. I ve bought my running shoes here as well as my families running shoes here and I will never buy anywhere else again.
Service is great! Great selection on Hoka, Asics and others! Make sure you wear a mask. A good rule and there rule. Small store with big selection. Check them out!
Very pleased with my purchase. The staff were helpful and friendly and after trying on a couple pair, they ordered a wider shoe for me that would best fit my feet. They mentioned several times that I would not be obligated to buy the shoes once ordered; they wanted to get the right size for me. The order arrived at the store a few days later and I tried them and they were the ones for me. Great shoes, good price, solid experience.

I ve purchased at least three pairs of sneakers at Capital Run Walk over the years. The staff is why I keep coming back! Every visit they have been knowledgeable and really great at listening to needs and helping to find a great fit. The store has a great range of options. Highly recommend this store.
Sign in window says open on Sunday until 6PM. Arrived just before 5PM but doors were locked. As I was leaving I saw the employees leave minutes after 5PM. With many choices in area to buy running attire, I probably won't bother to try again.

I based by visit to Capital Run Walk from the very positive reviews, thus I was surprised when my experience was substandard. I am a non-competitive runner and run mainly for relaxation and fitness. The store seems geared toward competitive and elite runners, not casual or recreational runners. I had to ask for assistance more than once. The final straw has having to interrupt a staff member's casual discussion about endurance training in order to be fitted. Ultimately, I left without purchasing anything and went to a different, locally owned store. I hope my experience was atypical. However, I will not return to Capital Run Walk, period.
It's a great store. I've been buying my shoes here for a couple of years. The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable. First time I went in, I was looking for a pair of minimalist shoes when they were all the rage. The staff then spent the next 20 mins looking at my shoes, my gait, asking about my current fitness level, and then very politely recommended the shoe I actually needed. This continues to today, where I go in with an injury and we spent 30 mins talking, looking at my last set of shoes and even putting me in the less expensive model of shoe, because it better fit my needs.
They are definitely not elitist and not pushy. Beginner or advanced I'd recommend them hands down.
